Miss Ma’am! How dare you do that to me! 😭 my heart! My poor heart! This novella is an amazing addition to your ‘Queen’ series! And I loved it but also, how dare you! I’m going to go and sit in a corner now!
This is not a HEA people. Perfect addition as I said to the series but this is definitely not a HEA 😭
Wowwwwww I was not expecting that ending! I must admit that I haven’t read any of this authors work before but this was such an easy and enjoyable read. The world building even though it’s a novella felt like enough information to make me invested without over explaining the plot. The pacing was fantastic for the storyline and I was absolutely devastated by the ending. I always give authors who are willing to move towards emotional devastation more props. So thank you.
Thank you for allowing me to read an advance copy of this book. This is my honest opinion
Oh My God... respectfully, I hate you, but love and adore you and this book so much! I received this ARC from the author, and she told me from the get go it would break my heart. I didn't realise she meant break my heart and leave me a blubbering mess while I try to process something I never personally went through!
The novella is an excellent quick read which aligns neatly within the trilogy world. You can certainly see this part is prior to the Nyx and Helios storyline and Em J does a fantastic job of showing the growth within her main characters once again. So much so, that if you compare them, you see the changes and feel where they mature, which really lit my love of in-depth character growth on fire!
Em J also showcases an individual's trauma response and recovery exceptionally well and I thoroughly enjoyed reading that arc.
Overall, hated it, but absolutely loved it. A story should make you feel something, and this one made me feel absolutely everything at some point in it.
Thanks Em J for the ARC, I look forward to the next one!
Em has such a lovely way of storytelling and I slipped into this new world easily as the worldbuilding from the series is already rich and established and it flows through this story beautifully.
We follow Kira, a wolf escaping a tyrannical pack, where fear and brutality are used to keep everyone in line. On the run, she wasn't expecting to literally fall into the Beta of the Greyfall Pack, then find herself falling further... as he is her mate.
Tom is the stoic second to King Helios, his childhood friend who saved him from an early grave, alone. And although sometimes he feels that he doesn't quite fit, when Kira barrels into his life - he knows his place is by her side.
With trust hard to come by and a war on the horizon - can these two loner wolves find something real and true with each other, or will it end in blood and tears?
If you love:
- star crossed lovers - mate bonds - revenge stories - soft for her MMC - strong but broken FMC - shifters - pack politics
Then check this one out. I read this prior to release day.
I reckon I’ve only read one other fated mates wolf novel in my time, so I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this one. I needn’t have worried, as it was a blast! The descriptions were lush and enthralling; the fated relationship believable and beautiful. I’m happy to read about a beta/cinnamon roll male lead – Tom was kind, patient and loving. I don’t do well with those bossy, possessive alpha types who’re really just insecure man babies as far as I’m concerned!
Being a short and sweet novella, it kept my attention while still encompassing enough world and character-building to make it a substantial read. The author gave me just enough to leave me wanting more. This novella beautifully sets the scene and motivations necessary to make me want to dive into the novel-length books that follow.
Thank you Em for an entertaining read and an intriguing invitation into the heady world of were-people/wolf shifters!
The Beta’s Price is a quick paced, fated mates wolf romance that pulled me in from the very beginning.
Tom is a kind and loyal Beta, and I really appreciated the dynamic between him and his Alpha. Their relationship felt grounded in trust, respect, and genuine brotherhood rather than rivalry or competition, which was refreshing to read.
Once Tom finds his mate, I loved how gentle and patient he is with her. Rather than rushing things, he gives her the space and time she needs to heal, and I really appreciated the care woven into their connection.
I also was not emotionally prepared for the ending at all. Realising what it meant genuinely shocked me.
There was a lot to enjoy in this story, and overall it was a fun, fast read that kept me engaged throughout.
I received this book as an ARC, however, this review reflects my honest thoughts and feelings, shared voluntarily.
What an incredible story! Em has done so well to fit all that emotion into 130pages. I am in awe, a fantastic emotional roller coaster. Have the tissue box ready, you’ll need it!
I loved everything about this, from the fated mates to the revenge plot, from the found family to the touch her and …
I am jumping straight into Blind Sided (Book1 of the Queen Series) I need more of Tom and Helios
ARC Review Well the emotional damage this book causes after sucking you in is no joke. I was balling those last few pages, my heart feels broken. I absolutely loved this novella prequel to EM J Bakker’s, The Queen Series. I am adding Blind Sided immediately to my TBR!
