I’m actually unwell after finishing I’m Not Scared Part 2 because this book consumed my entire brain for hours and then had the audacity to throw me off a cliff AGAIN. Like excuse me??? I trusted nothing, everyone was suspicious, my emotions were being dragged behind a speeding car, and somehow I still devoured every single page like a gremlin with zero self control.
Kayla has me in a chokehold. She’s messy, emotional, stubborn, vulnerable, and trying so hard to protect herself while these absolutely feral men keep bulldozing every wall she puts up. The tension in this book??? Sickening. Every conversation felt loaded like a gun sitting on the kitchen table. I was sitting there squinting at my Kindle like “who’s lying, who’s hiding things, WHO IS ABOUT TO RUIN MY LIFE NEXT?”
And the men??? Vero, Brawley, Clay, Ares… I am LOOKING RESPECTFULLY. Mostly. Maybe not respectfully at all actually. They’re walking red flags stitched together with trauma, obsession, possessiveness, and emotional damage, which apparently is exactly my brand because I ate this up. Every tiny crumb of softness had me kicking my feet like an idiot.
BUT THE SCARECROW???? HELLO????? I did not expect him to creep into my heart the way he did. There’s something about him that just hits differently. Every scene with him felt sharp and strange and weirdly comforting at the same time, like standing in a thunderstorm wrapped in a blanket.
The emotional whiplash in this series deserves compensation. One second I’m giggling, the next I’m stressed, then suspicious, then emotional, then suddenly staring at the wall trying to process what just happened. Fear Island honestly feels like its own living breathing nightmare carnival and I never want to leave.
And that cliffhanger??? Jaye really looked us dead in the eyes and said “suffer.” Absolute criminal behaviour. I need the next book immediately because there is NO WAY I can sit here peacefully after that ending. Five stars without hesitation. My sanity has left the building.
I'm not scared Pt 2 took a different direction than I thought it would but needless to say I am obsessed! Scarecrows riddles, Ares dare I say showing feelings and Kayla trusting someone unexpected with the details of her past are just some of the interesting details you can look forward to in Pt 2. With the heart-racing cliffhanger we are left on, I can't wait to see what happens in Pt 3!
“I hate that I missed you... That I couldn’t be pissed off in peace without my chest feeling like it wanted to cave in. I’m not forgiving you just because you sent me flowers, so you can all go eat a dick.”
Thankyou @jayeprattauthor for this ARC copy! 🫶🏻 Once again you have totally hit the spot with the atmosphere, hard hitting emotions, humor to make you laugh out loud and spice that's so hot your smoke alarm will probably start screeching. 😝
🖤ARES may be trying to sneak in and steal the #1 MMC spot. In the first book he was the silent and kind of boring type with the “I’ll stand in the corner looking dangerous” energy, and now I am completely feral over him. Getting to know him more this time around was just what I needed!
🖤VERO is back being his chaotic little menace all the reasons we fell in love with him in book one. He keeps every single one on their toes. Honestly, the group dynamic would be boring and collapse without this chaos gremlin.
🖤BRAWLEY'S protective mother hen vibe was REALLY shining in this book, especially when it came to Vero and Kayla. This man looks like the biggest, scariest, toughest one in the group, but underneath it all he’s literally just a giant teddy bear.
🖤CLAY. My king. I have been his girl since DAY ONE and this book somehow made me even more obsessed with him. I am loving watching his walls finally start to come down and seeing that more vulnerable side of him. Don’t get me wrong there are still plenty of moments where I wanted to slap him (lovingly) because this man can be so annoying but seeing him finally start to open up about his feelings was everything!
The overall storyline with Kayla being haunted by her past had me stressed and I loved how our Sexy Corn Field Scarecrow was woven into it with his riddles. Every time he appeared he was giving off this eerie guardian angel vibe that is unsettling and weirdly comforting at the same time. 😅 I'm not saying anything more because spoilers, obviously, but I do need a moment to absolutely SCREAM about that ending because WHAT THE HELLY WAS THAT?!?! The second the guys catch wind of what’s really going on, that fucker is absolutely done for. I am once again desperate for the next book! 😫
Wow, what a beginning, middle and end!! This whole series devours you from the first page to the last. I cannot get enough and wish that I did not have to wait for book 3! Cos yeh this ends on a cliffy and oh boy what a cliffy it is! Kayla and her motley crew are off to a good start as she realises she does miss them all, even though Vero did something so bad that she let her emotions get the better of her. When she told them to get the f*ck out of her life....did she really mean it? Did she hope that they come back to her?...Hell Yes!! But they all give her space. Knowing she needed time to process what had happened and decide if she still wanted them in her life. Loved the flowers...LOL and if taking them all back to the Island just so she could see them again, then so be it. So yes! They do eventually make up, with the strict rule that it was never to happen again. A bit hard to promise with Vero always so out of it with his mental health. But Vero promises to try. That is all she can hope for. Plenty of open door spice which is just what we all wanted and needed! As they find their new norm, there is danger that lurks. Kayla can feel it! Kayla has always trusted her gut, and she knows someone is watching. But who? It can't be her ex, Aaron, as he is in prison.....so who? Meeting the scarecrow and solving his riddle, means he owes her. But how does The Scarecrow help Kayla? When he enters Ares bar where she works and sits and tells her another riddle....she is perplexed. She knows the answer, but he is gone before she can respond. Hmmm. I now realise just what that riddle meant....yay go me LOL! Ok, so life becomes reasonably normal, if that can be a thing with Brawley, Vero, Ares, and Clay, but Kayla feels safe. Which for her is a big thing! But the stalker is watching and waiting..... As the guys try and fix the carousel, cos you know....it was broken by them, during their chase with Kayla and Vero.....Kayla is left to her own devices......And yep, there it is....The End until book 3! An ending I did not see coming! Bring on Book 3, cos I really need to know...like right now, what the f*ck happens.....LOL.
Part 2 of Fear Island Part 2 somehow managed to take all the chaos and emotional destruction from the first part and make me even more attached to these characters. After Vero’s breakdown, so much of this installment is about things slowly coming back together again, and I loved every second of it.
The relationship dynamics are genuinely the highlight for me. Brawley and Vero continue to be EVERYTHING — there’s something so intense and strangely tender about them that makes every interaction hit harder. At the same time, watching Ares and Clay finally start being honest with themselves *and* with Kayla was so satisfying. You can feel all the walls cracking little by little, and it makes the emotional tension unbearable in the best way.
And SCARECROW??? Ever since the first book kept mentioning him, I knew there had to be a reason. There was no way someone got brought up that often without becoming important later. I was absolutely proven correct because those final pages had me sitting there going “NOOOOO OH MY GOD” over and over again. Also he just creeps me out... maybe thats why im so interested...
Aaron coming back was genuinely insane. Bringing Kayla’s abusive ex back into the story and having him attempt to kidnap her added such an intense layer of fear and urgency to everything. And then having Scarecrow interrupt it??? I was LOSING MY MIND. It completely shifted the energy of the story and raised the stakes again right when I thought I understood where things were heading.
What I love most is that it feels like all five characters — Brawley, Vero, Kayla, Ares, and Clay — are moving toward something explosive together. The carousel scene was AMAZING, but now I desperately want an even more involved scene with all five of them interacting emotionally and romantically at once. Maybe I’m greedy, but this group dynamic is too good not to want more of it.
I need the next part immediately because this ending was cruel in the best way possible.
“Everyone here has trauma, and everyone is broken— some beyond repair. There is no judgment when things get hard; we all band together and get shit done.” ~ Ares This quote perfectly captures the heart of this book. The way Kayla, Ares, Clay, Brawley and Vero bond creating their own family unit is so endearing. Their connection is definitely my favorite aspect of their story.
Kayla, Clay, Vero, Brawley, and Ares find their way back to each other following the bar fiasco in Book 1. Vero remains my favorite character. He is still unhinged, insane, and most definitely lovable. Despite his chaotic nature, he has an innocence to him that makes me want to protect him. His increased understanding and personal growth following the bar incident made me love him even more. Every character experiences a level of personal growth as they learn to lean on one another. They all seemed to have something new they needed to discover within themselves.
Kayla feels uneasy, feeling like she is being hunted and most definitely not in the fun way. With an invisible threat to Kayla the group tries to uncover who is threatening their girl. This threat leads to a giant cliffhanger, creating a giant WTF moment. Trust me this one is a doozy.
I will just sit here and, “patiently,” wait for book 3…
This is the second part of what is turning into a deliciously addictive dark journey for me. I’m completely hooked!
It picks up right where the cliffhanger left us, in such a stressful moment that had me screaming, “No, no…”, but the cliffhanger in this book made me want to pull my hair out. Still, I’m confident in Scarecrow.
In the first book, it was all about finding acceptance and discovering new and exciting things, even with fear getting in the way. In this book, they face fears and emotions head-on, without missing the hilarious and steamy moments.
Our MMCs are morally grey, possessive, and total walking red flags — and I think that’s exactly what makes them so captivating, frustrating, and perfect for our FMC.
We have an FMC who had to fight for her independence — and she won. She has a strong spirit, but also a huge soft spot for our MMCs, even if it’s easier for her to admit it with some of them than with others.
She may not be afraid of the dark, but strong feelings are a completely different story. The distinct personalities of our MMCs and the emotions they awaken in her are something she never expected.
I thought the cliffhanger from part 1 was something…now I’m actively sitting on my couch trying not to overthink life. I need to know what’s next. It’s honestly an emergency.
Everything about this book was just perfection. From the moment I read the first sentence- I was immediately hooked…it was like I was back and never left. I find more and more of an appreciation towards each of the MMCs with each book. Clay? I think he’s got to be my favorite for multiple reasons. And the shower scene was probably one of the most intimate moments between him and who he claims as ‘his’ 😫 Ares? I feel like I’m starting to understand him better and he doesn’t give himself enough credit. Brawley? I knew he had fallen for his Double P before he did…but when he put his hand around her throat during the yarn scene 🥵 Vero? The things he would do for his paper cut princess knows no bounds. We’ve already gotten a taste of what all of them are willing to do to protect what’s theirs.
Still wondering about Cave and his riddles. Color me intrigued…
“The contract in your inbox? Take it seriously. The wristband? Never take it off. And your safe word? Remember it.” Jaye Pratt is honestly a genius! Thank you for this ARC opportunity- I can’t wait for part 3 🌽💀
"Everyone here has trauma, and everyone is broken"
Okay I need book three immediately because this cliffhanger was brutal. How am I supposed to sleep after that?
I loved the absolutely over top way Vero apologizes. It continues day after day until she has to return to the island...to tell them off...or at least that was what she thought. Kayla is missing her chaotic men.
I loved how we got to know the men better. Seeing more of who they each are was enlightening. I was surprised that even Clay was letting her in.
We get to meet the scarecrow briefly. He is full of riddles and your answers determine what happens next. I can't wait to get his story.
Kayla and the men are finding their way and it's beautiful. She fits in perfectly on the island and finds herself wanting bro leave less and less. Especially when she starts to feel like someone is watching her but that someone doesn't creep like one of her men.
When her past shows up things get interesting but if course that's also where we get left dangling. Goid thing we don't have to wait too long because I'm falling for these broken men and I need to see how this goes down.
*Screams* another cliffhanger!!!!! I'm dying here. But in the best way possible. The second part of I'm not scared is absolutely awesome! I could not put it down. I kept wanting to know what was happening. I did have the twist figured out. But the ending....OMG I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!!!! I am so freaking ready for part 3 and pray there's not a long wait.
I loved Vero in the first book but I fell even more in love with him in this one. Getting to see different sides of Brawley, Clay and Ares made me love them. And we finally got to meet Cave! Despite only a brief appearance in this one, I am eager to see more of him. He's very intriguing!
I cannot get enough of these books and I'm excited this is turning into a multi part series. The masked men series is awesome, I love that they are standalones. But this one being all one story is AMAZING! I love getting to see more of these characters instead of just one book. I was hooked on Jayes books from the masked men series, but consider me fully addicted now!
“That’s the thing nobody tells you about panic attacks. It’s like your body is convinced it’s dying and the harder you try to breathe the more the air won’t come.”
“I’m Not Scared Part Two” by Jaye Pratt is another outstanding instalment in the Masked Men of Fear Island series. Featuring one of the most memorable casts I’ve encountered, it’s a story I’ll continue to obsess over. The relatable moments, emotional and mental struggles, added spice, and humour all contribute to its originality, keeping me deeply engaged with every page.
Specifically, I loved, how we were given greater insight into the background of the FMC Kayla beyond the information we already had from book one, which allowed us to understand better the struggles she went through to become such a strong individual allowing for the perfect dynamic with the 4 MMC’s.
Once again Pratt has given me new standards of what to expect in a man as well as questioning whether or not red flags are really a bad thing after all.
This book starts by reliving the end of Part One, but through Kayla's POV so we can see what she was thinking in that moment. I liked that we got to see it through her eyes and how she felt about it.
I wish there would've been more groveling and that Kayla would've pushed back a little more about what happened. It just seemed a little too fast and easy.
We learn more about Kayla and her past, which better explains her behaviour. I loved getting more from Ares in all the ways. He's so peculiar, and I loved seeing his walls come down a little. Brawley and Vero's relationship is just the best, and I love them. Clay is such an alphahole but also so protective.
I enjoyed seeing more of the island and people there. I hope there's going to be a lot of books in this series because I'm loving the island, characters, and vibes! I didn't know there was going to be a part three, and so the cliffhanger wrecked me! I need the next book like now lol
I’m Not Scared Part 2 by Jaye Pratt Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice - 🌶️🌶️
⚠️Your wellbeing comes first, so please read the trigger warnings before proceeding.⚠️
🚩Please Note - Part 1 finishes on cliffhanger. To have a better understanding it’s best to read the series in order.🚩
I found that this time around, the dynamics weren’t solely focused on Vero, Brawley, and Kayla, but were much broader. While Part 1 gave us some insight into who Clay, Ares and Crave are, this installment adds far more depth to their respective personalities and characteristics.
The spice may be toned down this time around, but the deeper insight and clarity into what makes Kayla such a baddie will keep you hooked from start to finish.
Thoughts - 🪦That ending! 🪦Part 3, Cannot come soon enough.
I would like to thank Jaye Pratt, for this fantastic opportunity. I received this advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest opinion.🖤🖤
Part 2 somehow managed to crank the chaos up even higher, and I ate up every second of it. This series has such a wild energy to it. Dark, addictive, emotional, and just unpredictable enough to keep me glued to the page way past bedtime.
The character dynamics are what really keep me invested. Watching everyone orbit around Kayla in completely different ways is fascinating, but Vero still owns my heart. Every scene with him hits differently. And Cave? I need answers immediately. There is definitely more to his story, and now I’m desperate to know what’s hiding under the surface.
And that ending??? Absolutely criminal. I closed the book and just stared at the wall for a minute. Part 3 cannot come fast enough.
My only complaint is that I wanted way more begging after the fallout from Part 1. Kayla deserved at least a little extra groveling before everything moved forward.
Absolutely loved Part Two of I'm Not Scared and will be counting down the days until I can read the next instalment of this wonderfully dark and twisted series. This story picks up where the first book ended so you definitely need to read these books in order to understand this story as we follow the fiercely independent and sassy Kayla and her band of unhinged but highly lovable men Vero, Brawley, Clay and Ares. Even though more was revealed in this story about Kayla's past and her developing relationship with each of the men, I still have so many questions. This fast paced story will have you glued to the pages as the drama, suspense, mystery, banter, humour and quirks of these characters draws you into this new world. I am so intrigued about Cave and his riddles I can't wait to read more about Fear Island....looking forward to Part Three!!!!
ARC Reader Confessional – I'm Not Scared: Part Two (Masked Men of Fear Island) by Jaye Pratt
After finishing Part One, I needed answers… and Part Two definitely kept me hooked.
The mystery, tension, and masked men chaos continue, but this time I felt even more invested because I was already attached to the characters and completely curious about where everything was heading. The suspense kept things moving, and I found myself flying through pages trying to piece everything together.
Jaye Pratt continues to make these books ridiculously easy to read. The writing flows well, the characters keep you invested, and somehow I’m becoming more committed to my masked men era with every book 😮💨🎭
Overall, another fun, addictive read that kept me entertained from start to finish.
📖 I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Another cliffhanger! Why are you doing this to me Jaye? I need part three right now.
I’m such a big fan of Vero; he might be a little crazy, but he’s incredibly sweet and kindhearted. I love his bond with Brawley, and when Kayla is with the two of them, things really heat up. I’m starting to warm up to Clay, and while Ares is still a bit of a mystery, the one I’m most curious about is Crave.
I can’t get enough of these books. I need more. I’m Not Scared – Part Two: Masked Men of Fear Island comes out on May 13, and it’s one you won’t want to miss.
Arc Review ✨️ I'm not scared masked men of fear island Part 2 by Jaye Pratt Author I'm so excited at how this story is unfolding, the tension, the playful games, the heat🥵, THE PLOT TWISTS just keep surprising me!
Clay is still my Favorite and I love seeing how Kayla just keeps melting each one of these unhinged MMC's, But Cave "the scarecrow" I think there is more to his story and I can't wait till we get there!
I will gladly take a Part 3, I ATE up Part 2 like it was nothing....kinda wish these parts were longer, that's how much I want more!!
Trope List ✂️Dark Romance ❣️Why Choose (MMFMM) ✂️ Masked Men ❣️Primal Play ✂️Stakler ❣️ Touch her & 💀
Part 2 of this series has me screaming for part 3 to come as soon as possible. It picked up where part 1 left off and the intensity of this book had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn’t put the book down because I needed to know what happened next. There was definitely some heavy spice in this one and the characters personalities came together better as you started to get more backstory to them. I absolutely love this series and despite having it on my kindle I will need trophy books for my bookshelf because it’s a series I will want to read again and again. Impatiently waiting for part 3 to come.
The second part of the Masked Men of Fear Island series. Kayla is trying to move on after telling the men from Fear Island to stay away from her while they are trying to fix things with her. I love how Vero, Brawley, and Kayla accept each other and give each other the space to grow. Clay and Ares are so protective, reliable, and drop everything for their loved ones. I can't stop thinking about how it ended and will be impatiently waiting for part three. I recommend this book for readers who like why choose unhinged masked men and cliffhangers that make you scream. I received an ARC and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the second book in the Masked Men of Fear Island series. I am loving this series so much!! I mean who doesn’t love masked men or primal chases?!! This FMC has such a hard decision to make!1 As a woman, it can be hard trying to figure out if the men you meet are the good guys or the bad guys. Especially if you have a past with manipulative cheating aholes. These MMCs are hot but have issues of their own. Are they worth the effort and pain? Thank you, Jaye Pratt, for another delicious installment in this series. I am excited to learn more about these MMCs. I cannot wait to learn more about Cove…
My jaw literally hit the floor because that ending was epic!
I'm not scared - part two kicks off right where the first book ended with Kayla (FMC) picking up the pieces from the repercussions of Veros actions. I realise that these guys are chock full of red flags but I couldn't help but love them from book 1. Still underneath all of that though they were fiercely protective of Kayla especially in this book. Add to the mix lots of spicy steamy scenarios. We also get some time briefly with the Scarecrow. Who i was really curious about to be honest. Omg am loving this series so much and I'm dying to get my hands on part 3 now.
I thought I needed part 2 & the end of part 1, but that’s nothing compared to me now needing part 3!
I’m loving getting to know each of the characters more, & I felt like we got more from Ares & Clay this time. But Vero is definitely still number one for me. He’s chaotic, he’s funny & he’s unashamedly him. Brawley accepts this, & so does Kayla. Even after Vero stuffs it up, Kayla is able to forgive him & move on.
I was not expecting the twist at the end, & cannot wait to see how that plays out in the next book.
It’s dark. It’s masked men. It’s unhinged. & I loved it.
ARC review This book is the second book in the Masked men of fear island series, a dark reverse harem romance. The story picks up right where part one left off, following Kayla. Kayla finds herself entangled with four dangerous, possessive men on the mysterious and deadly Fear island. This is a book that delivers on tension, steam, and psychological intensity. Kayla and the four men’s journey is wild and unhinged. The writing style is fast paced and a lot is happening in the book. The book is not very plot heavy but does focus on the individual characters in the book.
This was just as good as book one !!! Only complaint was that I didn’t realize she broke it into three books and now I have to wait to find out what happens next !!! Everything about this was delicious and dramatic. The complicated relationships that have formed between each character is messy and wild, but I wouldn’t want them any other way. Each one is unique and provides their own set of crazy while throwing in the fact that they are on an island where they dress up and scare people in masks at night. What more could you want ?!
I am officially a permanent resident of Fear Island... Jaye Pratt took the chaos from part one and turned the heat and the crazy all the way up. I am obsessed with this group. Vero, Brawny, Ares, and Clay are the perfect brand of unhinged-and their dynamic with the MFC kept me hooked. The entire vibe of Fear Island is just the right kind of crazy and fun. I knew that "ghost" from her past was going to show up to haunt her. The suspense was perfect and I couldn't put it down. If you want masked men, dark romance, and a Why Choose that actually hits-this is it.
Okay first of all, Vero is my favorite character of all time lmfao. He’s so funny and I just love him! Moving on, I like that we’re getting more of Kayla’s background it kind of helps some of us readers relate to her more. I couldn’t put the book down once I started it. The chaos was definitely cranked up from the last one and the ending is making me BEG for more. I definitely need answers about Cave because hello?? What?? Clay and Ares dropping everything immediately for Kayla had me swooning but Vero will forever have my heart. I need part 3 IMMEDIATELY!!
"Brawley wouldn't let me kill someone by paper cuts and deliver them to you, so I thought flowers would be the next best thing."
Thank you @jayeprattauthor for sending me the ARC of this book!🖤
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
This one is just as good as the first. I loved that it continued on from where book one left off. It’s hens great seeing the character development for each MC. I even enjoyed seeing more of Clay and him being more open and honest, and learning more about his background! I’m so excited for when the next book comes out!! Part three is going to be SO GOOD!!
Warning another cliffhanger. This one is even more jaw dropping than the ending of book 1.
The story continues right where we left off. Will Kayla forgive Velo, will she be able to trust him, the other guys and better yet herself.
This second part of the story I found more emotional and we see more of how Kayla connect with each men. Also we understand more of her past and how she is the way she is.
I just love this story and how it’s developing. I find this story had a little less spice then book one but the spice we do get it just as yummy.
Another "smack you in the face with how awesome this was" great book from Jaye!
I was already in love with the characters and dynamics of the group, intrigued how the ending of first book would be solved but oh my does Jaye keep on surprising me!
I really cannot write anymore without spoiling anything because I seriously just want to scream to everyone about these books! And that ending!?
I NEED book 3!
Thank you soooo much for the ARC opportunity, but especially for the story itself! And this review was heartfelt, vehemently and unapologetically my free opinion.
