Dangerous Curves #3

Killer Curves

Rate this book
Gabriela Torres was definitely in the wrong place at the wrong time – and she kind of witnessed a brutal murder. Scared and panicking, she hides out at Dangerous Curves and lays low, trying to get her head together. After all, chances are that the killers didn’t even twig that she was there, right? Well, unfortunately, they know it perfectly well. When it becomes clear that Gabi is a hunted woman, the Curves guys step up to protect her… and nobody does so faster than the tough, sweet man that Gabi is secretly in love with.

Aidan Carter has longed for Gabi for three long years and when she moves in with him, he finally has her – in his arms, in his heart, in his bed. He promises to keep her safe, but when the Fallen Angels MC decides that all loose ends need to be tied up, Aidan realizes that promises aren’t nearly enough. When the woman that he loves is plunged in to the worst kind of blackness, Aidan has no idea if she’ll ever fully emerge. Will Gabi be trapped in that cold, dark place forever… or will Aidan’s love be enough to bring her back and warm her?

The third book in the Dangerous Curves series features Aidan, DC’s bartender, finally getting the chance to be with Gabi Torres. Unfortunately, it’s because she’s the inadvertent witness to a murder by the Prez and VP of the Fallen Angels MC. But in between death threats, there’s time for romance.

The Good, The Bad and Everything In Between

-Another good Marysol James series: I’ve only read the Enemy Series and a couple of books in this Dangerous Curves series (I can’t believe I missed the second book), but I’ve liked what I’ve read. Each series has good alpha heroes paired with strong women who have overcome some serious health and emotional issues. The stories are more realistic than your average OTT romance fantasy and in each series is more like a continuing drama. The advantage to this is getting a chance enjoy the HEAs for each couple, even after their particular book is done. Their lives intersect seamlessly and those serious issues are dealt with in a more realistic timeframe than you normally get in a standalone book. However, I really think it helps to read the books in order so that you’re not spoiled on big plot points.

-More action than usual: All of that character driven drama usually has the more “action-packed” moments happening off-page, which I’ll admit has been a minor disappointment of mine. However, due to the immediate physical threat that Gabi’s under, this book has a more urgent feel to it, with more action happening on-page. The tension regarding when the MC would strike to get Gabi built throughout and while a big part still happened somewhat off-page, it seems to happen in another book belonging to another series of Ms. James (Open Skies). I like the idea of tying these two series together and it’s intriguing me enough that I want to check Open Skies out. Well played, Ms. James, well played.

-Gabi and Aidan’s love story was pretty straightforward: I really liked Gabi and Aidan, two likeable characters who know what they want and they want each other. There are no prevaricating or wishy washy moments. They’ve both been attracted to each other for years and are willing to dive right into a relationship. That said, I would have liked some tension. Not alot, just a little in the buildup. Even the final climactic sequence was handled very realistically, but oddly I felt it was a bit of a downer. Sometimes, you really do want a bit of escapism and drama, and this isn’t quite it.

The Bottom Line
If you like a more grounded type of romance series, the kind where you get to know all the characters and there’s little to no WTF-ery, I’d recommend it.

4.0-4.25 RATING- Another enjoyable read by Marysol James. I liked this third book more than I liked the last one. The characters chemistry worked for me better I think. Really looking forward to getting Tessa's story. Mac's up next and for some reason I didn't anticipate who his lady love would be...silly me!

Wondering if the author will have a separate series for King's Men...if not already in the works, she should get on that ASAP!

Another brilliant read from Marysol James. When I start reading one of her books I can't put it down, this one was no exception.

I think the thing I love the most about her writing is that there is no stupid miscommunication - her characters TALK to each other and know where they stand. I love the alpha protectiveness that shines through with each of her heroes, and that the heroines don't pull TSTL moves. They may be damaged, but when it comes down to the nitty gritty they can be as kickass as the heroes.

Another big plus for me is that MJ does not make her characters "perfect", they all have faults, acknowledge them and own them. She is not afraid to tackle real life problems, and she does this sensitively.

Well done Ms James, you rocked this one. Although one downer, I NEED Tessa's story .... please say you are going to give her a book, pretty please with a cherry on top :D

This had me hooked from the first chapter straight away into the drama, loved the pace, totally kept your interest, really liked Gabby and Aiden (with the sexy southern drawl, big hands & messy blond hair) yum!! The pair of them have been secretly lusting after each other for 3 years then bam!, Gabbys in Trouble and needs the dangerous curve guys to help her out. The characters in this are brilliant all massive, drop dead gorgeous, fiercely loyal and loving to their friends and their ladies. You got to hear more about Jax and Sarah, King and Naomi, but you got a little snippet about Tessa and Curtis (need their story now)! But also teaser about book 4 which will be Mac and Mirrie...but my huge expectation is about Warren, what's happened to him?, I need to know, enjoyable series that has me itching to read more.

Hot damn, woman! Give me more!

This is the first book from Marysol James that I've read. I didn't realize when I picked it up that it was the third in a series because I didn't bother reading anything but the title, call me a lazy reader.

Wow, just wow. This book took me breath away! While it is the third, Marysol gave me enough background so that I wasn't lost coming into the Danger Curves series late. She kept me on the edge of my seat with both her skill as a plot developer and romance writer. I honestly can't wait for the next one (coming this month!) and am going to catch up on the series while I wait.
And yes, King scared me--I can't wait to read his story!!

In my personal opinion the weakest book so far. The romance seems very rushed, new characters are introduced so that we don't get to know Aidan and Gabi that well. Also the suspense takes a lot of room, for my taste too much. And Gabi is no girl with curves.

I don't know what was missing from this book, but it didn't hit me like the others in this series have. Its still filled with great characters and action packed, but it just was missing that fantastic factor for me.

Good series.

Enjoyable read but starting to feel a bit repetitive in the storyline where all the women are targets for the baddies and the men need to rescue them. Hoping Mac lives up to my expectation.

Loved. It. The chemistry between Gabi and Aiden was off the charts. I love the way that MJ writes her men to be protective and alpha without being dickheads. This conversation really summed it up for me:

“So then you should know that I only do exclusive.” He grinned. “I don’t share my woman with other men, so if you’re with me, you need to get that you’re with me. You’re mine.”

She hesitated at that, and he saw it.

“Hey…” His thumb traced her lips. “Is that too macho-bullshit Neanderthal for you?”

"I don’t like – ownership. I don’t like being controlled or told what to do.”

“That ain’t what this is about.” He stared down at her, those golden eyes so intense, she thought they could probably see right through her flesh to her fast-beating heart. “I’m not the kind of man who’s going to tell you what to wear, or dictate what you’re allowed to say, or tell you that you can’t earn your own money. I’ll never demand that you change one damn thing about yourself, and I’m not going to tell you who you can and cannot talk to. I’ll never disrespect you, and I sure as hell am never going to raise a hand to you.”

She swallowed, hard. One of her exes had been emotionally and physically abusive and she’d sworn to never let a man treat or touch her like that again.

“But make no fucking mistake, angel: I am the kind of man who demands that you be totally faithful and open and honest.” Aidan kissed her mouth, luxuriating in her soft warmth. “You have to trust me and turn to me for protection and help, no matter what. You’re mine, just mine, and you’ve got to let me make you feel safe. Let me take care of what you need.” His hand moved down the front of her body, between her breasts, over her flat stomach. He lingered just above her sex, gently stroking her lower lips through the t-shirt and her underwear. “And I mean all your needs.”

*SWOON*

Totally OT, but I love finding out more about King's Men. I think they need their own series! I'm wondering about Warren Kane, too. I got the feeling that MJ was setting him up to be an ally for King and Honey and I hope he'll be back in the future.

I keep saying this about Marysol James: Her approach to romance is not typical, nor is it for the faint at heart. Her books come with serious trigger warnings, so I would definitively advise not reading her books if you can't handle it. But I love the respectful way she handles delicate and traumatic issues.

Aiden is my type of hero; always watching out for everyone, always has his eyes on everything...taking notes and taking names. And that Southern charm and smile--super swoony! I love that Aiden, once he committed to Gabriela, was open and honest with her about himself and his past; especially about his shortcomings. A guy willing to take responsibility for the things he's done and truly own up to his mistakes is a guy after my own heart. And Gabriela-she's absolutely adorable. She may seem shy at first, but that feisty side of hers came out a time or two! LOL!

When Gabriela overhears a murder, even I felt her fear right down to my bones! I was like, "Please?! Somebody get Gabriela out of this craziness she found herself in! Not my sweet little Gabriela?!" Thank goodness for Aiden and the men of Dangerous Curves. They didn't hesitate to come to her aid; even when they knew it was beyond dangerous and extremely life-threatening. And speaking of life-threatening! What happens to her chilled me to my core! The horror of being buried alive!!

The story itself wasn't that long, and although Aiden had his eyes on Gabriela for three years, it was like insta-love when they get together. But I like that. They do spend time learning about each other, getting to know one another. There's still heartfelt emotion, romance, and some of the hottest sexy times. And I really liked this story. Again, I admit Ms. James's books aren't for everyone, but I'm drawn to her writing, and I love the book world she has created with these men and their women.

I enjoyed this book. I loved Aidan from previous books and was thrilled he got his own story. I liked Gabi as well and thought they were good together. I would have liked to have seen a bit more between them, but it wasn't too bad. This book also had more action than some of the others, which I enjoyed.

One of my pet peeves with this series has been that the author tends to awkwardly throw in scenes from previous couples. The characters intersect, but sometimes it just feels very choppy when she throws in certain scenes. In particular, the end of this book sets up Mac's story. This scene was needlessly thrown in when I really wanted to see Aidan and Gabi. I already love Mac (and am fairly indifferent about Meri) but this scene didn't make me NEED to read their story. The ending with the main couple seemed too abrupt and I found myself wanting just a bit more.

Didn't disappoint

I thought this story was much better than the last. I really enjoyed the characters--I especially liked how the H, Aiden, was imperfect in his career as a DEA agent. The h, Garbriella, seemed very down to earth to me and was very likable. Even though the couple knew each other for 3 years, the relationship moved pretty quickly once it started. Very good and exciting action and suspense. I also felt the story arcs of previous couples were better incorporated in this plot line--sometimes I feel these aspects are out of place with in other books from this author.

Wow!

This one was much more dangerous and suspenseful than the previous books in the series. I was completely engrossed from the very start. Aiden has been a primary fixture since book one. He is always helping out his friend, but this novel is his turn to receive help. If something could go wrong, it probably does in this story, and Aiden and Gabriella need as much help as their friends can provide. I honestly loved this couple. Of course I am so invested in these characters now that there is no way I could stop reading this series. Mac gets the next book, so I'm starting that one immediately.

Gabriela and Aidan- thanks to the public knowledge of Aidan's crush- they were kind of destined to be an item.
She was the inconspicuous little thing that strolled through the pub few times a week working herself to death.
As irony would have it, she became the damsel in distress in need of saving.
Seeing as she was a strong, independent woman that did not sit well with her and she strived to do the saving all on her own but not for long let me tell you, because luckily for her, the men of Curves moved in for the kill (quite literally).

Once again, Marysol created a beautiful storyline. I will admit, I have always had a book crush on Aidan, so to find out about him and Gabriella was a great and beautiful surprise. Throughout the previous books, it always talks about how Aidan was hesistant to up front with Gabriella due to his shyness and her busy work schedule, but you never disappointed me. I like how the drama and fear of Gabi's situation drew her closer to Aidan, and the trust she has for him. This is by far my favorite book out the series because of the storyline between the two! Five out of five!

Gabi and Aiden have secretly been crushing on each other for three years, and once Gabi's life is threatened they finally get the chance to be together. I think this was one of my favorite Dangerous Curves books. Gabi works hard cleaning Curves before she heads off cleaning other businesses. It's on one of these other jobs that she over hears something she shouldn't The obstacles that these two overcome during this book is heart wrenching.

Love it

Thank you!! I read about Gabi and Aidan story in open skies book 5 and couldn't wait to read it... I love how you mix all of your stories together and each book is about a different wonderful couple but you still get a chance to see the other couples throughout the books. I can't wait to read the next couple. Thanks again.

Couldn't finish. 32% and realized I was wasting time I will never get back. The internal and real dialogue seemed juvenile. Every single character has a POV in the story. It was formulaic, much like the previous books although they seemed more interesting and focused on the Couple. Will not read anymore in series.

Another fab read from MJ. I love all her hero's and heroine's. Not one of them does any stupid crap and they all really listen to each other which I absolutely love. I also love how each couples story continues as the series progresses, just because their book is finished doesn't mean we don't see them again.

Love this Author

Ok, Marysol, I'm giving u 5 stars, I really do love these books. I only wish there would be more retribution to make these stories complete. These are, after all, big bad alpha males, who I can't imagine would let any of the stuff that happens to there woman ,just go. There's no justice. I just think realistically these guys would not just stand by.

This one was really interesting b/c it felt grittier and darker than Marysol's usual books. I'm not complaining at all, and I actually loved it. I think that Marysol can do sweet and she can do sexy and she can do dark. For me, this book had all three and that makes it my fave of hers so far!
