Behind closed doors, in a world of pretense, neurotic needs, and selfish desires, twisted perversions wish never to see the light. But, on occasion, the light finds them anyway and threatens to expose them to the day.

Karen Blanchard, like so many others hiding from the light, has her forbidden secret, a lustful secret she has convinced herself was inspired by God. When her sociopathic ex-husband, who is hell-bent upon destroying her name, discovers her illicit longings, by unwittingly forcing her to act upon them, she must pay the price, but not in the way he had planned.

Reborn as children of the night through the empathy of forces they’ve never known, Karen and her son become enslaved to unrelenting hungers, enslaved to blood, and her ex-husband becomes consumed by his own insanity.

Teacher and New Jersey author of horror and the dystopian, who, for some reason, primarily reads nonfiction but writes fiction: horror, dystopian, pseudo-memoir. My stories are based in social criticism and are heavy in allegory. I also write poetry and children's lit, when the mood strikes.

And he’s back again with his thought provoking words, his dense and addictive prose and this man does not disappoint. Now this one is not for the faint of heart, but stick with it, the writer will take you to places that’ll make your brain just scream

Flippin’ ’eck, Uilleam. You nutter. Sins of Isis comes with a warning. I’m not normally one for that kind of stuff at the beginning of any kind of medium. More often than not, you should know the general gist of what you are in store for. If you’re reading horror, expect horror. However, I think, in this case, it may well be justified, as it touches on subjects that would certainly be classified as outside ‘the norm’ (for civilised people), even in horror. So much so that it makes this quite a complex one to review without sinking into the depths of it. What I will say is that this is not the most disturbing thing that I have ever read, not by a long shot. Though at times difficult to read, what separates Sins of Isis is Uilleam Whitedale’s incredible talent for taking a subject matter of absolute horror and giving it substance, justification, and weight. To put it finely, this could have been an unmitigated clusterfuck, but Uilleam is well skilled in his craft, and Sins of Isis is just another example of horror done right. Give this a shot and stick with it. It is more than worth your time. A stunning addition to Uilleam’s ever-growing, monstrous body of work.

I’m a seasoned horror reader, so it takes a lot to get under my skin, but Sins of Isis did that and then some. It treks into taboo territory and had me thinking about the boundaries of the genre. How far is too far? How relative is morality? What lines are universal and can never be crossed? Uilleam Whitedale goes to places few horror authors dare, but Sins of Isis works because those questions are front and centre. The prose is polished, the story excellently paced, the characters vivid – all the hallmarks of a skilled writer – but this book stuck with me because its themes are so well thought out. In lesser hands, this would just be an author daring to push the envelope – and most of the time there’s nothing wrong with that – but there’s far more at play here. A challenging, expertly written piece of work.

“Oh my God…” “WTF” “Jesus, dude…” A few of the phrases I muttered to myself as I was reading this story. Lust, demons, vampires… oh my!

Sins of Isis is a wonderfully written delve into the state of wrong yet never feels distasteful. Let me be clear, read the warnings, it will not be a read that all can handle, but those who can handle its content will be rewarded by a smart and structurally sound tale of depravity and the human condition. The afterword goes on to explain the authors concept and breakdown the why of the story which gives the reader a better sense of what they’re now digesting. This is the second book I’ve read from Whitedale, and he has convinced me he is an author to follow!

When you pick up a Uilleam Whitedale book, you know you’re going to get something with more depth than your average, by-the-numbers horror. This is no exception, and in fact the author pushes the envelope further than ever for what’s possible in the genre. Certain taboos are tackled head on, albeit with a fair degree of tact, lending themselves to an excellent story with genuine punch, creep, and ick, all delivered in the precise and deliberate prose of someone who really knows their craft. Very well done indeed.

"you're balls to the wall out of your goddamned mind"

You'll get short chapters, which makes this read easy to set down and comeback to. This is something I think called out more often with how "go go go" our lives are.

What I would point out that this novel does, is it ends with bleakness. Most novels set the bleak undertones up early. Not Sins of Isis. Sure the horror kicks off early, but you don't grasp the outcome until nearly halfway in, and then it settles firmly like cement by the end.

Sins of Isis. Oh boy… this one was unique! I didn’t really know what to expect going in as this is my first experience reading a Whitedale book, and it hooked me from the very beginning. All I can say is that I anticipated something bizarre, unsettling, and clever, and the author delivered on all three fronts. This book has a warning for a reason. If you like horror that makes you cringe, you’ll love this! As wild as it was, I couldn’t stop reading it and finished it in a day. I’ll definitely be checking out more of Whitedale’s work.

Wow. This book was an incredibly intense read. Gory, horrific, unconventional? Definitely a book that will stay with you. The author has obviously done a lot of research, and weaves this into the story well. A lot of big risks taken with this one, and I think they paid off. I had to pause reading it a few times because I felt a bit sick, so thanks, Uilleam.
