Revea Monroe never planned for a pack.As an omega in an alpha-dominated world, she’s built her life proving she doesn’t need one, running a successful salon dedicated to supporting women and omegas, while carving out a future on her own terms.

Because in a world that measures an omega’s worth by the strength of her pack, Revea is determined to prove she can succeed without one.

Then everything changes.

When one of her team is attacked, Revea is forced to face a reality she can’t ignore. She can’t do this alone. Not this time.

Help comes in the form of Pack Vale, four ex-military CEOs who run a private security firm. Controlled, powerful, and entirely too focused on her.

Revea tells herself this is temporary. That her business is still her priority.

But the more time she spends with them, the harder it becomes to ignore the truth.

They don’t just want to protect her.

They want her.

And they’re not going anywhere.

Shear Instinct is a contemporary reverse harem Omegaverse romance intended for readers 18+. A cosy romance with no cliffhangers and a HEA.

3.5 stars rounded down

I enjoyed this new to me author and I would try more of their books, for sure. My attention span wavered at times and this did take days to finish though. I think the book could have been tightened up and made a little shorter. There are some wonderful aspects that still made it an entertaining read and I think a lot of fellow omegaverse readers would also enjoy.

Written in first person, multi-POV with all the mains. No ow/om drama, however their instincts do get them a little possessive of each other at times (the guys literally get growly over someone else speculating that she could be courted by a pack she hasn’t even met and would have no interest in anyway). All of them had some experience, with light mentions. The MMCs had never shared an omega before (yay) and at least one of them had never knotted anyone before. The FMC hadn’t been with an alpha for her heat in a while and I don’t believe had ever been with more than one partner at a time.

Some tropes/themes:
☆ Why choose omegaverse
☆ MFMMM
☆ Omega x 4 Alphas
☆ Forced proximity
☆ Hair stylist/small business owner FMC
☆ Private security/former military MMCs
☆ FMC needs some security - they’re doing a favor for her brother
☆ Twins in the group who speak Spanish to her
☆ She has a 5 year plan
☆ Instalust but also instant admiration
☆ Some “not like other omegas” energy
☆ A touch of push/pull and angst
☆ No fated mates, but scent compatibility
☆ Omegaverse elements - knots, heat, instincts, nesting, barking/purring, bonding bites
☆ Some kink exploration - bark play (new to me), edging, some domination, a bit of restraints
☆ Positive female friendships
☆ Positive family dynamics

The h is a hair stylist who owns her own omega-friendly salon. She focuses on helping other omegas as well. One of those omegas who works for her is accosted by an alpha and the h whoops him. She was a boss lady and has skills not common to other omegas. I was cheering and then came a bit of fallout because she needed to consider security to protect her staff and business for the future. I did struggle a bit with her as a businesswoman in this capacity. The h was competent and capable, but then hesitant over certain decisions that were so obvious, there was some disconnect. Her brother requests a favor from his bosses and one by one, these alphas meet and fall head over heels for the h.

The guys were fun and hot. Each was very distinct and the author did a wonderful job of building moments between the h and each guy, as well as highlighting them as a pack together. The guys have a pack bond that they communicate through too and it’s sometimes hilarious. It was also interesting that one of the guys is the alpha of the pack of alphas so he had the role of protecting his pack and doing things like ensuring they didn’t tip over into rut, for example. One of the other alphas was neurodivergent and had no filter. I loved when he didn’t understand something so would bluntly ask. It was also heartwarming how reassuring the h was with some of his insecurities. The twins have their own personalities, plus had that brotherly bond and concern for each other.

The story is more relationship-driven, with some plot elements related to actual security needs. I was surprised at some turns this took. I didn’t love some of them and there are times when the “not like other omegas” energy is very strong. She was also very concerned about perceptions related to her business. Leading to the h not always making the wisest initial choice and needing some rescue or talking down from a panic. She does take ownership of poor reactions though, which calls for some vulnerability. The whole group has moments that create a solid sense of intimacy on the emotional level.

Plenty of intimacy on the physical level happening here as well. Very spicy book with one on one scenes and multiple partner scenes. There is a heat scene. They do start getting steamy before being committed to a relationship, because that’s what the h is comfortable with (again, 5 year plan). When the h makes it clear to them that she does want more from them and they start sharing I love you’s, it was very satisfying.

There’s no third act breakup. The relationship takes most of the book to formerly define with courtship and claiming. The third act is focused on some public scrutiny that occurs and that solidification of bonds. The end is HEA with a fully bonded group and them in love.

A perfect 4 star for me. Caveats below, but really I just enjoyed this one and it was the perfect escape for me and that's all I care about rn.

“You’re right, I don’t want the job.” Val turns around to face Rue head-on. “I want your sister.”

This one is definitely insta-lovey, a little bit of a fast burn, and I'm gonna say it was bordering on erotica with plot bc if it was just a romance, there was basically no plot...but the spice was spiceingggg. I've read many knotting scenes, but some of these were of the better ones. The bark play was a really nice twist. The FMC was given this ability basically just for the sex scenes and I'm not complaining at all. It was hotttt going both ways and I made a new tag just for it because finding this book again two years from now to recommend it if I only put it under the CNC tag probably won't happen.

No OW/OM drama. They haven't even ever brought a woman to their house before. These characters are devoted and sweet even though none of them saw this coming or planned for it to ever happen. Conflict is external and mostly handled off page. Hey, I said there wasn't a ton of plot, but it did set the page for future characters I hope the author writes about.

Also I really like how this author writes omv. While there were some aspects I didn't like (scents came and went), there were a little more shifter aspects here than most omv and I liked that. Would have liked to have seen more world building though, especially with the conflict that was happening around them.

The FMC is an independent businesswoman with highly sought-after talent, a 5-year plan, and no time for alphas to interrupt that.

The MMCs are successful businessesmen with a company to run, and no thoughts about settling down, since none of them have ever agreed on the same woman.

But they all agree on her. 😈

“You might have tried, at first. But my brother and I, we’re relentless.” There’s no lightness in his tone or his gaze. “I’ve never planned for an omega, never wanted one, but I want you.”

And the flirting was good, the dirty talk was also good, but Sylvan's unintended flirting?? Be still my heart.

“I tell you and your brother I’m not looking for anything, and then you send Sylvan in?” I hiss.
He’s still chuckling slightly. “I’m not following...”
“Yeah, right.” I roll my eyes. “The man who can’t lie? Telling me all the things an omega wants to hear? Master of seduction Sylvan!”

They communicated well here, but there were also moments of miscommunication but they were brief and handled with more communication, so I really don't know what that to use in that area....

It was a little long, but it was also mostly spice and I never have a problem with that....😘

Some continuity errors, but nothing huge enough to take me out of the story. Also a lot of size kink bc she's tiny, and they let us know allll the time.

No third act breakup.

95% smut and 5% plot. It's a good change because of the lighthearted tone of the whole relationship between them, but there's barely any plot and the plot that does exist, is very shallow and short-lived.

Revea is strong and knows how to fight but we only ever see that in play once throughout the book and the rest of the book she's just simping over them, so it kinda felt like the whole "badass packless omega" was just for show and not at all different from the rest. Kinda disappointing especially when in the Inferno saga written by the same author, we see a really strong and badass FMC who really lives up to these adjectives.

Unfortunately, for me, this book fell short. If you don't care about the plot and want something more lighthearted, this book is great. But if you need more than just smut to be hooked, I wouldn't recommend this one despite how much I loved Sylvan.

This book is ✨perfect✨

This was my first ever omegaverse and I am sold, the sisterhood Revea has with her staff and the brotherhood dynamic of the pack is just beautiful, they really look after each other 🥹 Revea learns it's ok to not do it all by yourself and it's really healing to see an FMC accept help. The spice is 😘 I was giggling and kicking my feet at some of the scenes and of course MK brings us to the edge, I love that Revea doesn't just take it she gives it back too and the boys are obsessed!!

Short version
Plot: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice:🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Tropes: Reverse Harem Omegaverse
Touch her and 💀
Alpha MMCs
Heat Spike
Strong, confident Omega FMC
Bark Play (she barks back and they like it)

Long version:
Revea is strong, independent, confident and will purposely push their buttons just to see what they'll do, she's fiercely protective and not afraid to make these boys kneel (which they're happy to do so but they might make her regret it 😏)

Luc is a teddy bear in disguise with very bitable arms, from their first meeting you can tell he's the one that fixes everything when it goes wrong whether that be fixing sinks or attitudes.

Val is the grumpy to Luc's sunshine (twin power!) if you want "touch her and die" vibes he's your man, his scenes with Luc are some of my fave I do love a twin sandwich.

I know why choose isn't supposed to have favourites but I will murder anyone that comes after Sylvan, every time he is present is hilarious! I love his innocent honesty and MK does a fantastic job of representing Nerodivergency, don't let his innocence fool you though he is the spiciest of the group and will tell you straight up what his intentions are (Bark play tennis is my new favourite thing)

Kaiden is pack alpha and he shows it, he will watch, direct, order and make Revea beg for it, I never thought tactical spice was a thing but I need more of it. He shows Revea why he's the leader of Pack Vale and he is not to be messed with (she finds out the hard way)

Overall this book is ✨perfect✨ literally my heart swells when I read it, the chemistry between characters and the way they look out for each other mixed with the fun gremlin moments of Revea purposely bratting just to see what they'll do is so much fun, I was full on kicking my feet giggling because it's so funny (Syl I love you) I've read this book 3 times and it's starting to become my comfort read at this point 🥹 MK the edge queen has done it again

5/5 read

Holy shit, there are genuinely no words for me to explain how good this was. I don’t normally post reviews but M.K. Michelle always manages to come up with the most perfect masterpieces ever. This was my first time reading omegaverse and once I saw that my girl published this i had to immediately get myself a copy.

If this is your first time picking up her books, I 100% suggest reading her ongoing series because i LIVE for that.

An Omegaverse where we have 4 ex military alphas and an omega with just as bigger bark as them 👀 yes please!!

M K Michelle has absolutely blown me away with this first dip into Omegaverse - i can honestly say this book was entirely unique to anything i have read in this genre. I loved our FMC Revea, an Omega raised by strong alphas she can hold her own and doesn’t need a pack, the fact she runs a hair salon which employs omegas who need a safe space immediately won me over as well.

Now let’s get started on the men! Luc with his charming personality, Val the quiet brooding one, Kaiden the pack leader who is ALL alpha 👀 and the one that won the part of my favorite, Sylvan, one of the best written neurodivergent (although this is not explicitly stated in the book its written so well it’s obvious) characters i have come across! His black and white view of the world and hilarious one liners made him so endearing and the way the pack explains things to him and gives him his space is honestly amazing.

Its so rare for a why choose to not feel rushed when its in one book, essentially you have to build four relationships where usually theres only one! This book did this so perfectly, each Alpha gets time with Revea and we see each relationship grow organically, while we do have complimentary scents this is not a fated mates world and there is choice in forming packs.

Now the spice!!!
The dirty talk, the twin sandwich, the heat spike and the last 20% of this book - just wow - and can anyone say bark play (a new trope i need in every future Omegaverse book please!!!). It never felt forced and each alphas personality shines through whether 1 to 1 or in a group - Revea also gives as good as she gets!!

I absolutely hope we get even more Omegaverse from this author - there were so many characters whose stories need telling in this book and i will be picking up any future books by this author!!

Wow, what a nice surprise that was. Honestly I have no idea why I picked this up when my tbr is so long and I have so many ARC reviews due not to mention a few betas in the stack. I’m soooo behind. 😅 But I’m f***ing glad I did. I saw this posted on the Reverse harem Reddit group and went to add it and thought, you know what I’m actually really in the mood for an omegaverse book and opened it right away. Bravo M.K. Michelle 👏 👏 👏 from reading the authors note not only is this her first foray into Omegaverse it’s only the third book I see listed on her profile and let’s just say you nailed it.

I was a little hesitant when I saw the no fated mates or scent mates in her worlds because that’s usually part of what I like in one of these but I ended up not even missing it.

The other thing I absolutely loved is… can you believe this… the FMC was NOT KIDNAPPED at any point in this book 😳. Ok so maybe the plot isn’t that suspenseful but idc what it might lack there it makes up for in tension. The spice is oh so decadent. This RH book is ALL about the banter, relationships, and tension. I absolutely could not put it down, was huddled in my bed at 3 am with my kindle hoping my husband didn’t wake up a notice I was still reading that late.

I usually like to give constructive feedback but honestly I got nothing. Maybe the cover isn’t the best, even that just needs some tweaking to make it to a more professional standard. And when you’re ready for audio don’t go too cheap you’ll need a dually narrated POV. I hope more people pick up this gem it’s fantastic.

PS Slyvan is what makes this a masterpiece RH Omegaverse read 😍 🔥 🌶️

This was a fantastic book! I really enjoyed the different take on OV in this one! I love Sylvan so much, I wanted to give all the MMCs a hug at multiple points. They were so down bad for Revea from the beginning even though she was fighting it for over half the book basically. They were slight miscommunications but were always resolved quickly.

Refreshing, Necessary, and Incredibly Special

Shear Instinct is an incredibly special and refreshing take on the Omegaverse, de-centering patriarchal ideas of submission, gender roles and female autonomy, supported by the removal of scent matches and the inclusion of bark play. M.K. Michelle does an incredible job of disassembling fundamental Omegaverse tropes and rebuilding them in a way that emphasizes consent and empowerment. What she has done with the concept of barking, traditionally a method of control over omegas, has poignantly taken that oppression and transformed it into power, creating something new, consensual and, frankly, hot as hell.

Shear Instinct is a celebration of female community and everything a woman can do even when society tells her she can’t. It is also a stunning reminder of what relationships can be when we value communication, emotional intelligence and healthy boundaries. M.K. Michelle is a strong, necessary voice and I sincerely hope she continues to bless our Omegaverse community. Five stars.

I need everyone to understand that this book DRAGGED me out of a 9 month reading slump by the ankles. NINE. MONTHS. I was convinced my attention span was dead, my Kindle was decorative, and romance books no longer sparked joy. Then Shear Instinct came along and suddenly I’m ignoring responsibilities, staying awake until stupid o’clock, and emotionally attached to fictional people again.

For M.K. Michelle’s first omegaverse??? EXCUSE ME??? Why was it this good??? BECAUSE MK KNOWS HER SHIT AND SHE DELIVERED!!!!

The writing is ridiculously smooth. No awkwardness, no info dumping, no forcing myself through chapters. It just flows so naturally that I absolutely inhaled this book. The plot kept moving, the chemistry was INSANE, and every single character felt memorable.

And Sylvan… unfortunately that man now pays rent in my brain permanently. Easily my favourite. The intensity??? The devotion??? The vibes??? I’m unwell. 🤒

What really got me was how FUN this book felt while still having emotional depth. It had tension, possessiveness, humour, chaos, spice! literally everything I want in an omegaverse. You can tell the author had so much fun writing it because that energy jumps straight off the page.

Anyway. I’m obsessed. My reading slump is cured. Sylvan owns my soul. I need the next book immediately before I start chewing on furniture. 🪑

Bark like you want it

I saw this recommended this morning and didn't put it down until I finished it this afternoon. I don't think it was necessarily cozy though. Cozy is a no stress, no angst read. As soon as the author included the stressor and hiding and a hint of breakups, it wasn't cozy. Which is fine with me! Just managing expectations. I would love to see more in the world. Maybe a book for Serena. (The bark play ive never read before and absolutely smashing)

I binged this book in a night, it was so good!!! I adore all the characters and the storyline. Revea is such a fun character and I wish I could get more of her. I’m sad this is a stand alone because I do love this pack but I feel that the storyline was wrapped up beautifully. Pretty spicy but still so much plot to devour. MK Michelle does such an amazing job with developing characters and Shear instinct is a product of that.

Bark play.

MK Michelle hit it out of the park with this one! Revea is the perfect, independent omega, determined to do it all by herself...but what happens when she needs help? Will her five year plan survive?

The men are absolutely drool worthy.

Definitely check this one out!

After reading her previous books, I was not-so-patiently waiting for another release, and I was audibly squealing when I got the email saying I’d been selected for an ARC.
Shear Instinct completely blew me away. I read a lot of omegaverse and too often the FMC ends up being a pushover while the Alphas blur together to the point where I’m constantly trying to remember who’s who. Revea is not your typical Omega—she’s independent, fiery, and more than a little spicy. She demands respect, treats her staff like family, and had me hooked within the first few pages.
Now for the guys: Luciano, Valentin, and Kaiden were unexpectedly hilarious. The banter and absolute chaos of them stumbling over themselves trying to woo Revea had me laughing the entire time. The spice delivered, but it never overshadowed the story or the characters.
But Sylvan... Sylvan is on another level. He may honestly be my favorite Alpha in any omegaverse I’ve read. Somehow he manages to be awkward and magnetic all at once, usually without even trying. Absolute perfection ✨

ARC Review Reader

Such a fun and refreshing read! I’ve been a huge fan of M.K. Michelle’s writing ever since binge-reading The Inferno Trilogy, so when I heard she was writing an omegaverse romance, I knew I had to pick it up—and it absolutely delivered.

As someone who loves a good RH omegaverse, I’ll admit the genre can sometimes feel repetitive…but that was thankfully not the case here. This book brings such a fresh take to the genre: no fated mates, no scent matches, and none of the overly frustrating miscommunication (hallelujah!).

I’ll be honest—when I first read that this story wouldn’t include fated mates or scent bonds, I was hesitant. I usually love the intensity and instant connection those tropes create, and I wondered if the relationships would feel as emotionally compelling without them. The answer is a resounding YES. M.K. Michelle proves that chemistry and emotional connection don’t need destiny to feel powerful. From the very beginning, the attraction and tension between Revea and her men feels genuine, magnetic, and completely believable.

And speaking of Revea—I adored her. I’m always drawn to FMCs who are strong-willed, independent, and fiercely capable, and Revea embodies all of those qualities perfectly. She’s hardworking, passionate, thoughtful, and deeply loyal to the people she loves. I also appreciated the insight into her relationships with her family and friends, which made her character feel more grounded and not like her world only revolves around her romantic partners.

Now for the men… WOW. Kaiden, Luciano, Valentin, and Sylvan each completely stole my heart in different ways. One of my favorite things about this book is that every relationship feels different and special. Kaiden is the confident leader, Luciano is effortlessly charming, Valentin is the serious one who softens only for Revea, and Sylvan… he absolutely owns a special place in my heart. Watching someone who has spent his life misunderstood finally find acceptance, love, and unwavering support from both Revea and his packmates was incredibly sweet.

What I loved most is that Revea never tries to change any of them to fit into a perfect mold. She loves each man for exactly who he is, flaws and all, and each man is completely OBSESSED with her authentic self too.

If you love fierce FMCs, possessive MMCs who know exactly what they want, and a fresh spin on the omegaverse genre, don’t skip this one. M.K. Michelle absolutely knocked it out of the park.

Review of advance copy received from Author

~ ARC Review ~

I just wanted to start by thanking the author for this opportunity! I’m a huge fan of her previous books, so when I saw she was releasing a new standalone omegaverse — one of my favorite tropes — I was so excited and signed up to be an ARC reader with zero expectations. But I was picked, and I’m honestly so grateful because I was dying to get my hands on this book.

And let me tell you: it did not disappoint.

I actually read it in one day because I genuinely could not put it down. It’s intense, emotional, sweet, and the bond between our girl and her men is incredibly steamy.

Let’s start with Revea, because I absolutely loved her character. In many omegaverse books, the FMC is portrayed as helpless or constantly in need of rescuing, but Revea is the complete opposite. She’s independent, strong, and cautious in a way that made her slowly learning to trust the guys feel realistic and rewarding. Honestly, she was my favorite part of the book. I completely understood why the guys fell so hard for her.

Now moving on to the guys: there are four of them, and each has a very distinct personality and dynamic with Revea. I really enjoyed seeing how differently each relationship developed and how perfectly they all fit with her in their own way. I do wish we had gotten a bit more of their group dynamic and background stories. We do get some backstory, but I’m greedy and would have loved even more time with them. Still, since the main focus is Revea and her relationships with them, I understand why the story was structured that way.

And the spicy scenes? I genuinely have no words. I was literally kicking my feet and jumping around my bedroom while reading some of them. I won’t spoil anything, but the scene with Sylvan in the office was definitely one of my favorites.

Since this is a standalone, the story moves at a pretty fast pace. That doesn’t take away from the emotional depth of the bonds at all, but it does leave you wanting even more time with these characters. Personally, I’m more of a series reader, so I love following characters over multiple books.

One last thing: can we please get a sequel with a pregnancy trope? Because I would absolutely love to see how the author handles that.

this was promising and well-written with a take-charge fmc and four really sweet mmcs. an omega who can bark is a new concept. the spice was spicing. sylvan in particular is my favorite.

but this book had a lot of pet peeves of mine:
- the way that alphas are majority men and omegas are majority women in this particular interpretation of omegaverse. what's the point of adding a secondary gender if it's just further reinforcing our world's gender roles?
- the over emphasis on the fmc being so so tiny
- the instalove - the guys are literally dropping everything to court the fmc whom they barely know
- the constant mentions of "i grew up with 2 alpha brothers and 5 alpha dads blah blah blah that's why i'm not like other omegas" last i checked, you don't need to grow up with exclusively men in order to be an independent and strong woman
- the fmc constantly calling the guys "alpha"... i know this is a trend in a lot of omegaverse books but i hate it. it feels like the guys are being reduced to their designation. vice versa when they call her "omega"
- the concept of one's "omega" or "alpha" being a separate consciousness within them.. like "my omega whined for my alphas". like girl why are you talking about yourself in third person. i know this is also a common trend in omegaverse stories, but it annoys me to high heaven. is it just me or does this originate from fifty shades of grey where anastasia is constantly talking about "my inner goddess". girls i think you both have mental issues
- it felt like this would lean more fem dom based on the premise and the beginning, but it's basically just male dom the entire time with the fmc rolling over and begging for knots
- the timeline and pacing of everything was just off. not just the romance aspect but the plot too (yes, there is one) she gets blackmailed but then she naps for a day and the guys have handled everything--they've found the culprits, the police made the arrests, and the culprits were disowned by their family? all in one day...? and then a day later she goes viral and suddenly paparazzi and journalists are at her door? this shit doesn't happen in one day
- the first few spice scenes were hot but then it felt like 80% of the book was dedicated to the fmc's heat. i had to skim through it

MY NEW FAVOURITE OMEGAVERSE BOOK. THERE IS BARK PLAY.
Revea Monroe is a strong, independent omega and business owner trying to survive in an alpha-dominated world. She ends up meeting Pack Vale, a pack of sexy, possessive ex-military CEOs who make it their mission to prove to her that accepting love doesn’t necessarily mean sacrificing independence.
Standout themes and tropes include…
reverse harem/why choose
strong FMC
will k*ll to protect her
bark play
twin alphas
dirty talk
bite guards
possessive MMCs
I feel so honoured to have been chosen as an ARC reader for this book. Once again, MK Michelle has transported me into a world of their creation, leaving me wishing I could crawl into it myself. As a long-time reverse harem and omegaverse reader, I feel like I know what to look for in a good book, and this one had me blushing, kicking my feet, and squealing.
It’s so incredible when an author manages to capture real societal tensions while also making the characters genuinely relatable. If you aren’t familiar with the characters MK Michelle writes, you are seriously missing out, because all four alphas have made it onto my top ten book boyfriends list. I genuinely would have been able to tell whose POV I was reading without seeing the character’s name. It’s so rare for every perspective to feel that distinct without getting even slightly confused. That just shows how unique each character’s personality is — you truly cannot pick a favourite because they are all incredible. (I suppose we’re lucky it’s a reverse harem, aha.)
This book had me laughing out loud, blushing, and even shedding a few tears. It introduced me to the phrase “La vida sin amor no es vida, mis amores,” which I will absolutely be using — just beautiful.
I think this book is for the independent girlies who feel like they need to take on the world all by themselves. We all need a support system and people to help us every now and again!
I cannot recommend this book enough. It was an absolute pleasure to read, and I cannot wait to see what MK Michelle does next. I would absolutely love to see a spin-off based on Rowan or Rue.

Pretty close to perfect

I can't really decide what exactly made me love this book as much as I do. There isn't any one element that hooked me entirely but each element was satisfying and interesting above the average story. The world building is slightly on the light side but the characters, relationship building and plotting are very well done.

Revea, the FMC, is smart, capable and funny. She's averse to asking for help but somehow accepts it more easily than I find reasonable. She's relatable in that she will panic if there's an issue but she's going to try to figure it out herself. The lore behind her shop name is absurdly convoluted and unnecessary but the rest of her business process is beyond realistic and reasonable. I particularly love the guys being wholly incapable of understanding the word balayage.

The guys are all truly likeable. All a bit over the top but with good reason, I can't find anything to dislike about them.

I wish we saw more interaction with her brothers. They seem like great options for spin-off books. Serena does as well.

The side characters are well placed and fit into their roles suitably. I also wish we saw more of her parents and a meet the parents with Sylvan and Kaiden's families.

The antagonist plotline is perfect. Down to the actual resolution being suitably punishing, it's a satisfying arc.

The pacing and editing are well done. There was one notable word error (empathically used when emphatically was the word needed) but that only stands out due to the rest of the book being so clear of distracting errors.

Lastly is the spice factor. This is a very fictional, very hea, very open door story. I do not recommend jumping in if you are not comfortable with open door scenes. That said, for the first time in a lot of books, I was actually interested enough and enjoyed reading the bedroom antics. Each interaction was well timed for the storyline. It was consensual for all parties each time. They were aware and mindful of their priorities despite their desire. None of it felt drawn out or excessive for me.

A new favorite and a great step into omegaverse from a new-to-me author!

There are so many things to love about Shear Instinct. If you're an omegaverse fanatic, you probably know that a lot of it is the same. Some authors use designations and... that's it. There's nothing wrong with that, per se, but sometimes I want more. Michelle here has become one of those authors that stands out for putting her own spin on omegaverse. She incorporated small but important details that expand the world and give more opportunities for enjoyable plot devices--pre-heat symptoms, courting rituals, career alphas and omegas, super alphas (mega-alpha here--like Roxy Collins' ubers) etc.

But don't fret--there's still those sweet hurt/comfort moments and down and dirty knotting et al. for anyone who might have been worried they'd have to enjoy an omegaverse without it. ;) Look forward to spicy scenes like: , and lots of other good stuff.

Another thing I appreciated. In Shear Instinct, people are more than their designations--there's a beta mentioned who has two partners, there's alphas with submissive tendencies...
I want to show her how good an alpha I can be. For her, I’ll be so fucking good.
*fans self* and a dominant omega. There's sexy Spanish alphas purring pet names (they can call me mami anyday). There's big bad military alphas *apologizing*. Multiple times, even. There's humorous banter and slapstick (Kaiden and Sylvan had me in STITCHES) and serious relationship talks alongside the usual gruff shows of overprotectiveness and spicy moments. All in all, an absolute win.

I look forward to checking out some of this author's other work. And hopefully we'll see all of the abused omegas featured here find love in time! I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for any other cozy interconnected standalones that may follow.

ARC Reader Review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (yes, it earned all of them. no complaints.)

I was already doomed before I even started this book.

I’ve read M.K. Michelle’s previous books, re-read them, re-re-read them (don’t judge), so when I saw another ARC opportunity, I basically hit “apply” like my life depended on it. And I’m so glad I got it.

Now let’s talk about Shear Instinct.

Revea Monroe? Absolute queen behavior.
Independent omega. Successful business owner. Built different. Does not tolerate nonsense — not from society, not from the world, and definitely not from her future pack (yes, she will look at you like that).

She’s the kind of FMC who says “I don’t need a pack” and you believe her… until life says “lol, actually.”

Enter Pack Vale.

Four ex-military CEOs.
Emotionally controlled. Dangerously competent. Infuriatingly obsessed with her.

Basically: trouble in uniform.

And the worst part? They’re not even subtle about it. They want her. They’re staying. End of discussion.

Now the men… I liked all of them. Which is rude, honestly. Each one has his own vibe, and the way they interact with Revea? Chef’s kiss. My personal weakness is Sylvan (I will not be taking questions at this time).

Spice level?
Let’s just say I needed breaks. Multiple. Emotional support? Also needed.

Every spicy scene was doing the absolute MOST in the best way possible.

That said, if I’m being slightly greedy (which I am), I do wish we had a bit more depth in the guys’ backstories and more group dynamics outside of the romance/spice bubble. I wanted a little more “team chaos energy” moments.

Also… I’m just going to say it: I wouldn’t mind more from this universe 👀
Maybe more packs? Maybe side characters getting their own chaos? Maybe nothing is safe?

Overall: addictive, spicy, and very easy to binge in one sitting while telling yourself “one more chapter” until it’s 3AM.

Thank you for the ARC — I had a great time being emotionally compromised.

I loved this book so much! It was funny and adorable. She’s a badass but because she cares so much about her friends and employees, she agrees to security. The alphas are all curious and Luciano decided to show up the first day. He is instantly smitten. He is charming and sweet and puts all her employees at ease. He gets his twin Valentin to come the next day to see if it’s the same. He is a little more broody but he also gets feelings instantly. So the next day they have Sylvan come. He is a tech genius and little awkward. He finds her interesting and attractive. At first he hurts her feelings because he is blunt and honest. But the next day he comes back and he was a way with words. She calls him seductive and they have a moment. She understands him better now and they are so cute. Last is the pack alpha Kaiden. He comes in and she barks at him, he likes it and he barks back, she likes it. Revea has a connection with all of them. She fights it because her independence is important to her. Then something happens and she goes off grid. They find her, help her with her problem and she realizes that needing help isn’t a bad thing and you can still be independent and have help. She becomes famous because of her video and they are worried she will leave and she says something she doesn’t mean. They all apologize and she asks if she can court them. They help her through her heat and have to wear bite guards and help each other not loose control because they want to bond. Eventually she is ready and wants to bond. She teases them after a class she teaches in Paris and they bond.

⭐️ 4/5
🌶️ 4/5

- Sylvan is 🥵. I don’t know how this author made these characters so drool-worthy but jfc.🤣🥵 His blunt, straight to the point, dirty talkin’, fix it for his girl, one track mind alpha self is to die for.
- The sexual tension in this book is top notch. These men good lord 😫🔥
- The character development was really good. I loved each of the MMC’s. Revea was good, not my personal favorite but I still liked her.
- The twins and speaking Spanish. “Mami” 😫👏🏼 as someone who’s Spanish, I thoroughly enjoyed them haha!🔥😍
- The bark play is definitely new and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It wasn’t what I was expecting when I pictured it honestly. I won’t lie, I was kind of iffy that she could bark at first but that faded quickly and I loved it. I LOVED that these alphas could and would be submissive to her. So hot haha.

- As much as I enjoyed the characters and the spice, the plot lacked for me. It wasn’t exciting or really hooked me like the characters did.
- Not really a fan of bonding squished into the epilogue. Wish they would have bonded sooner so we can see their relationship develop as a pack and her communicating more in the pack bond.
- The chapters not being numbered. I love the names, but also need the numbers.😫🙈

Favorite Quotes:
“You’re right, I don’t want the job. I want your sister.”

“I find her interesting.”

“Did you just bark at me, omega?”

4.5 stars

This book was recommended to me through my Kindle. Usually, my recommendations come from social media accounts and people I follow, so I went in with no expectations, especially since I'd never read anything by this author before. I was blown away.

Revea is such a breath of fresh air as both an omega and an FMC. She's already established as a business owner, she doesn't take shit from anyone, and she can go toe-to-toe with alphas. She is the epitome of a girlboss. I appreciated that scent matches and fated mates don't exist in this universe. Instead, the story focuses on compatibility between potential partners, which grounds it a bit more in reality.

One of the alpha MMCs is neurodivergent, and I loved that representation. Each MMC felt distinct, and the author did a great job differentiating them from one another. Especially Sylvan, who I absolutely adored.

There is a lot of smut in this book, but it's well written and never gets stale. In other books, I often find myself skimming those scenes because they can become repetitive, but that wasn't the case here. I also appreciated that Revea isn't a simpering virgin omega who doesn't know what she's doing.

All in all, I was pleasantly surprised by this book and I'm looking forward to reading more from this author. I didn't give it 5 stars because I felt the middle dragged a little, and I wish there had been more time spent on the quieter, everyday aspects of life with these five characters because I enjoyed them so much.
