This had potential but it was disappointing. To answer the question I asked another reviewer and was too impatient to wait for the answer: He doesn’t cheat though there’s questionable behavior such as texting the OW every day, visiting her office regularly, inside jokes and allowing things he shouldn’t like long hugs and touches. He also lets her casually talk negatively about his wife and apparently let her comfort him and talk about his life when he’s having a rough day so you’d have a pretty solid case if you wanted to debate emotional affair. None of it makes sense because he knows she’s toxic and claims he doesn’t even like her and his wife doesn’t trust her but he gets close to her and shares things with her anyway. He admits to the lying and “grovels” for it but he never owns up to any of the inappropriate behavior and lines he crossed.
This story needed serious editing, sometimes he spent $4000, sometimes it was only $2400. Sometimes the photo was on her phone, sometimes it was on his, etc. There’s a guy named Ryan who is mentioned several times, you can figure it out by context clues but it would have been better to have that story briefly explained than to make me figure it out. There were a few scenes that had me questioning if I’d skipped pages or something because they didn’t make sense. Like the daughter asking if they’re getting a divorce when there hasn’t even been an argument yet, much less anything she’d have seen, or when she said he had all day to prepare his defense when he didn’t even know they had a problem yet. When OW texts him she loves him and he doesn’t think it’s odd or have any reaction to it at all. His wife doesn’t mention any I love yous in the texts she reads. Is this something she’s said to him before that he doesn’t even flinch? Or When he knows exactly what’s in the photograph even though she didn’t tell him what it was a picture of. And When she finds out things her sister has done and said behind her back, and when she smells the perfume on his shirt she doesn’t talk to him about any of those things but then he’s not surprised or confused when they are brought up later. Am I supposed to assume they talked off page? Why have important convos off page?
She knows her parents are toxic and unsupportive but she goes to them instead of her best friend, and then stays there when she could easily relocate to a hotel or her friends house. It adds drama and angst but it doesn’t make sense and it’s hard to feel bad for someone who purposely stays in a bad situation when they have options. She also only calls them out on their bad behavior less than half the time, and never gets an apology or remorse from her father. He shit talks her until the end.
And most unsatisfying of all, there are ZERO CONSEQUENCES for ANY of the villains. She doesn’t go no contact, there’s no apologies from dad or sister, there is sort of a show down with the sister but it’s no big deal and her sister threatens that it’s not over. But then the story ends and nothing else has happened so like.. it was over.
Also, this is just a pet peeve of mine and it happens in these books a lot, but all the touching and kissing when you’re mad and contemplating divorce? Ick. If I’m mad at you, I’m not attracted to you right now, do not fucking touch me! The BBS is at least sort of addressed when she pulls away and later in their very brief mention of therapy, but I wish authors would stop using it to get couples back together.
Last, because this also bothers me, the turning point in their reconciliation when the son gets hurt.. the teachers would have cleaned him up and calmed him down before sending out a notification hed been injured. He didn’t need stitches, it was just a busted lip. You notify and send pics but you don’t request immediate pick up for minor injuries.
How on earth is it romantic for the husband to LEASE A STORE in his wife's name? Now she's financially on the hook for a commercial space she never approved. WTF is this ridiculousness? This gave me anxiety.
Her sister is pure evil. I can't believe what she was trying to do while ha thought she was just helping him she was trying to take down the marriage. I really.liked Marsh but he did do stupid stuff. He never should have lied. But I honestly don't think he ever wanted the sister. Ever. I loved the kids and I loved the epilogue. Her sister was just a caricature of a villain it almost ruined it for me. Plus where is the revenge? I kept waiting for her to vandalize the shop or roofie the husband. but nothing happened. I would be afraid though.vv
Jen sees a text from her sister Kate on Marsh’s phone. It says something suspicious like I can’t wait for tonight with a heart. She reads the thread and it goes back months.
Sunday family dinner and Kate hugs him a little too long. She touches his arm, comments on him working out.
Things are falling into place and it doesn’t look good. Even her 5 year old asks if they are getting divorced because Aunt Kate likes daddy.
It all explodes when Marsh says he has a business dinner. Her friend sends her a picture of Marsh and Kate at the restaurant holding hands. Also she smelled Kate’s perfume on his shirt before.
She leaves to her parent’s house. Unfortunately her parents have always doted on Kate. Everyone gaslights her that she’s crazy.
Kate shows up to talk to her. It goes from nothing was going on, he’s planning a surprise to well do you blame him for coming to me. You can’t steal something that’s walking away. Once again because she’s paranoid. Jen slaps her.
Marsh finally realizes how this looks and is devastated. I believe he said it perfectly - he wanted to be her hero, but ended up not being her partner.
Kate’s true colors come out and she’s a piece of work.
Marsh and Jen have to put in hard work to figure out what happens to their family.

The mistakes in this one were unreal. I find it unrealistic to believe that an author actually sat there and wrote about a 4 year old child (the youngest child of FMC + MMC) and said that they “toddled,” used a crib, and said (I’m quoting) “da da up.” There is no indication that this child is in any way disabled so it seems ridiculous that he is described thus, and I have a hard time believing that a human being wrote this.
Amazing how trusting the wrong person can implode your whole life. Marsh loves his wife so much he recruited her sister to helping surprise her with making her dream a reality. The problem was he trusted someone who wanted er sister's life and happiness. Recommended
The wife's sister basically manipulates situations to make it seem the husband cheated with her. They split for 3 years and untangle the deceit. I was a bit frustrated with the wife, she wouldn't let him explain anything after she left and her brother didn't push her to listen either even though he sees things don't add up. HEA with original couple.

Good book but what happened with kate and her threats
Good book. Interesting and relatable but kate made threats and story just abruptly ended without finishing storyline and epilogue was more like a next chapter not an epilogue
Getting to know this author. First, her books are becoming cookie cutter versions of each other. Plus, the mistakes are sloppy. This is where the suspicion of AI sets in. This author has 9 books published between March 31 and April 18. Wow. Having wrote a book by myself, there is no way I could knock out 9 in that time frame. This is part of the review for the book. Mistakes and story changes. Dinner...cooking pot roast but he ate his chicken. Son, 4 years old but taking like a baby. 2 kids, no 3 kids...no it's 2 kids. Daughter wants sandwiches, dad picked up the chocolate chips...for sandwiches. School calls that son fell down, parents called, dad was there to pick him up off the ground. Either he was there when it happened or the school left him on the ground, or that was the slowest fall in world history. There are more. I really like these themes for a book but the author takes a real mistake, not cheating and turns the guy into a I'm so sorry apologist. What? She doesn't ever want him to plan a surprise for her again? Maybe it should have been a united front when she found out he was innocent but her sister really did have designs on her husband and created the story to confront the sister and parents... together. Either this author doesn't know her own storyline or doesn't have an editor and is trusting a computer to do the work. I want to read a good ol fashioned story from a human heart, mind, and gut.
My Husband's Secret Texts to My Sister, part of the Her Marriage in Crisis series, was about Jen, a former manager at a florist shop/turned stay-at-home-mother, and Marsh, a project manager with a local construction company. (No last name and no ages given for either of them.)
Jen and Marsh had been married for 7 years and were the parents of two children, 5-year-old Lily and 4-year-old Owen. Jen was starting to notice things happening between Marsh and her sister, Kate, that were making her uneasy. Whenever she questioned them, they both brushed away her concerns or told her she was being paranoid and insecure. She found several months' worth of text messages between the two of them, and then she found the $4,000 that Marsh had sent to Kate over the course of several months. Once again, they both lied to her about what the money was for.
When Marsh told her he was going to be attending a business dinner one night, she was concerned but chose to believe him...until her best friend, Noor, sent her a picture of Marsh and Kate holding hands at a candlelit table in the restaurant where Noor was having dinner. That was the final straw for Jen, so she packed up her kids and took them to her parents' place.
It took a while for the entire truth to come out, but when Marsh was able to prove he had never cheated on her, another shoe dropped where her sister was concerned, and it wasn't a good look...for her sister.
This story had a lot more angst than most books of this genre, and the emotional rollercoaster had more than its fair share of twists and turns. The conflict was quite a bit over the top as well, and it had too much drama that went unresolved. In fact, it had a lot of unresolved issues.
Both main characters were well-developed and mature, with a lot of room for growth. What didn't work was that the author left out how they finally managed to get past the issues that broke them up in the first place. Oh, she touched on it, but there was never any face-to-face confrontation that brought things to a completion that was necessary to finalize the decision for them to stay together. While there were three face-to-face confrontations, they didn't resolve anything.
The book had so many typos, errors, and inconsistencies that they messed with the flow of the storyline and plot. For one example, the author had the MMC mention who Kate was to him, but his words were "he is my sister-in-law". There were quite a few other errors like that throughout the book.
The inconsistencies were atrocious. For instance, the author said the main characters had two children, but the FMC said 3 kids in chapter 8, but she only ever mentioned 2. Then, in Chapter 16, she told an attorney they only had 2 kids (a 4-year-old who said, "Dada! Up!" instead of talking in full sentences like a normal 4-year-old?!). Another major issue involved the money problem. One moment, the book mentioned that Marsh had given Kate $4K, but there was another time that the amount was $2400, only to change later so that it was "over $2000". It was enough to keep the reader's head spinning.
I only gave this a two-star rating because it just didn't earn anything higher. If the flow had been better, the issues had been properly resolved, and the inconsistencies had not been such a major issue, perhaps it would have been a better story.
The author couldn’t decide if they had two kids or three kids. Their ages varied. At one point Owen was a toddler who could barely speak beyond “Da da”, and then he was also 4. The author couldn’t decide if the sister had been Venmoed $4000 or $2000. There was even a weird name in there that didn’t fit the story at all. Not sure who the author was referring to. Beyond all of these annoying issues was the bottom line of the relationship. The parents and sister said Jen was too dramatic and overreacting. I agree.
SPOIlER Once Jen figured out that Marsh had only been trying to surprise her with an incredible gift, that there was no affair, and the texting/money/sneakiness was innocent, I don’t understand why she continued to make such a big deal about HIS role in the mess. Kate was to blame for making it seem like it was more than it actually was, did it on purpose, and delighted in the outcome. Since Kate had a history of this kind of behavior, I’m disappointed that she really didn’t have consequences for her actions, other than falling from the role of the golden child in her father’s eyes. She was an atrocious whore who had a lifelong habit of successfully taking what was Jen’s. I feel like once it was obvious that she was, AGAIN, trying to cause problems, stage, and manipulate scenarios that weren’t actually factual, Jen could have made less of a deal about Marsh’s accidental role and directed all of her anger toward the actual guilty party - Kate. Forgiveness for the husband should have come MUCH sooner. Because his continued punishment went on forever, the book subsequently went on for much longer than it should have.
I really enjoyed this book and Marsh and Jen were a good couple. This book shows that when you lie to your wife (even though you were actually creating a beautiful surprise for her) the lying and not the surprise at the end is what can end a marriage. Marsh thought he was doing everything right until his friend showed him Kate was wanting more from him and she wasn’t thinking of her sister’s surprise anymore. Kate was vile and their parents favouritism of Kate was blatantly obvious, Kate was the evil one and Jen knew this from her stealing an earlier boyfriend. I liked her parents saw the real picture and Marsh worked to get Jen and his kids back and I liked their journey as she never made it easy for him. I see there is an epilogue after this book so I hope we see karma hit Kate as she left them alone after threatening them but then nothing happened. Good book I enjoyed it.
WOW I had a lot of doubts going into this one, especially with it saying no cheating, but it still hit just as hard emotionally.
I felt just as lost and confused as the FMC while everything was unfolding. When the truth finally comes out, she still is really hurt for now different reasons. Her sister is absolutely horrible and honestly made the whole situation worse, and her husband is so clueless it was frustrating at times.
Thank god for his friend Davis because he is the one who finally makes him see what is really going on.
The only thing I wish was done better was the sister getting what she deserved. I really wanted more consequences there.
Overall I did enjoy it, but this is definitely one of those reads where you feel the pain right along with the FMC.
Good bones but the ending left too many unanswered threads. The MMC may have been great in business but was clueless in relationships. He allowed his SIL to essentially wreck his marriage without realizing or recognizing the huge amount of red flags her behavior demonstrated.
It was interesting how even the MFC's parents were manipulated for years by their youngest daughter to the point of.....stupidity. It was hurtful that, even when presented with evidence, they still blamed one daughter while excusing the other.
I did like the writing style and the story held my interest. Would have loved to have read about a huge dose of karma for Kate.
This was fun, exasperating, anxious and heartening. The evil sister stirring a lot of shit up! The wife being gaslit, the oblivious husband completely snowed over by evil sister, and a heart felt HEA. A few things never got rectified, one being the evil sister threatening that this isn't over yet, and there was never really a discussion between the husband and wife about the evil sister and her intent. That should have been openly discussed from the husband's POV to clarify the distinction between his intent and the evil sister's intent. But very engaging story. I thought the kids added that touch of humor needed.
The story was interesting but felt that Jen was over the top as to her actions. Why would you go to a place where the people held you in low esteem? Her parents were ridiculous till they finally saw the light. Her husband was innocent of wrong doing. His surprise was understandable to his actions. He had no idea what Kate was up to and he really was gullible. The weird part is that nothing happens to Kate, not really. She is humiliated at the store but then just disappears. Guess I was waiting for her to get hers but nothing happens.
A novel about a broken marriage. Ms. Corvi did an excellent job telling the story of how intentions covered by lies cause major issues.
The characters are relatable except for Kate. She's a viper. The hurt and pain of a wife knowing her husband is lying and a husband who is basically clueless.
I recommend this book to people who like HEA when the work has been done to fix problems.
Good story a little drawn out, and the time lines seem a bit confusing. And so what happened with the sister and her threats…. Felt that is grovel was awesome but she was bit OTT after everything was explained. He was so in the wrong but it was all for her so seems a bit much IMO
The writing was a bit choppy, but still a decent read. The FL was a tad frustrating and there was a piece not tied up by the end of the book, but not bad for what I am assuming is a new writer.
I have read 2 and 3. This is getting better as the novels go along on the emotion front within the novel. This one is much better. More enjoyable however I feel like the story was unfinished.
What a horrible sister. Kate was awful. How on earth could no one see it. Marsh’s heart was in the right place but man he was dumb and blind. Just like everyone except Jen. I loved watching Jen come out on top.
