Anna Lyvis is a queer paranormal romance author based in West Tennessee. Writing poetry and short stories since she was seven, Anna has spent her life viewing the world through words. In high school, she started writing long-form fiction and finished her first novel-length story. As an avid reader as well as writer, she spends most of her free time with her Kindle and a cup of coffee. The rest of her time is taken up by her brat of a Labrador named Nyx and her Staffy baby Ella.

Ahhhhhh I devoured this book!! If you’re looking for your next paranormal read, I absolutely recommend this! In a world where witches and vampires have their leaders and separate covens/enclaves—an event forces two leaders to work together to protect an innocent child.

I absolutely loved the dynamic between Jessamine and Callidora. I hope we get to see them continue to warm up to each other BECAUSE THESE LAST TWO CHAPTERS HAVE ME NEEDING MORE!

There is a slow burn in this book that I suspect will carry over into the next in the series so I shall wait… very patiently 💕

Overall this was an amazing book!! There were a few minor things that I didn’t love, including some cringey quotes and how predictable the couple of “plot twists” at the ending were, but for the most part I enjoyed this book a lot, especially considering that I don’t normally read books in this genre! I personally really liked that there wasn’t much romance yet (I’m a sucker for a slow burn) and I can’t wait until the second one comes out! Also loved the 1967 Chevy mention I sense that the author is a SPN fan…

Jessamine and Callidora are leaders of their respective groups, witches and vampires.
They’ve only met a few times, but their dislike of each other is plain as day, and seemingly warranted. Both of the previous heads of their groups died the same day, in the same event. The two groups have been at odds since. You can feel that in the writing. All of the characters involved are detailed and complex.

This is a sloooooow burn, enemies to reluctant allies. I originally beta read this book, and there are so many improvements and changes that Anna made, all for the good of the story.


This is a book that I can absolutely see myself rereading, and I can’t wait to read more.

I am obsessed with this book! Everything was incredibly perfect for me: the plot, the aesthetic, the romance, and so much more!

I love the characters and their vibes; they demonstrated the paranormal elements, vampires x witch, so well, and I definitely felt the gothic presence. Moreover, I loved the slow- burn romance. During the story, I could feel the tension and chemistry between the two characters. To add, the plot-twists were wonderful. I love how the author describes the events so intricately and meticulously; it adds so much depth and intention to the book.

I definitely recommend this read for those looking for gothic romance!

My only complaint is I wish it was longer 😭😭 I am hooked on the story and the characters. This author is certainly one to watch. I feel like my brain was weaved into the story and the book will be living in my head rent free for so long now. I literally loved this book and the author was so kind to send me an ARC copy with pens, pen holders, bookmarks, stickers, and candy for my reading time ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 I recommend sour patch kids or pomegranate candy with this, although you might be too into it to remember to snack.

Oh my god! You guys need to read this book! The sapphic romance is being laid carefully and with loving hands. The whole book is amazing and full of so much soul that I cried and left the author a very mean Discord message because she punched my soul tit and then walked off. This book is amazing, so please go and read it!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it was such a good breath of fresh air to see two common groups in fantasy books have to work together and I love the diverse representation in this book. Well written, kept me invested and enjoyed the characters

I give this book 3.5 stars because I thought it was a fun book - the characters... give me a bit of Klaus Mikaelson if he were a woman... but if you like TVD, this is something for you. I actually liked the plot itself, how two women, a vampire, and a witch see each other hate each other, and have to raise and protect a child. However, I thought it was a shame that no love had developed between the two of them yet. I would actually like that, because there was already a spark (normally I'm a bit of a slow-born type). But I always find it a shame when you have to read more than one book before there is love, that's why I give it 3.5 stars. Good story with fun characters, only it lacked a bit of romance in my opinion. Still recommended.
