Rook: Bloodline Saints MC, Book 1

Rate this book
She ran from her past. He became the man she never expected to face again.

Avery Brooks returns to her hometown with nothing left but a broken heart and a bakery full of memories. She never planned on seeing him again—the boy she left behind, the one she never stopped loving.

But Noah Carter isn’t that boy anymore.

He’s Rook, Vice President of the Bloodline Saints MC. Harder. Colder. Built from scars she never saw happen. And when danger follows Avery home, Rook is the only one standing between her and the threat closing in.

Old wounds reopen. Old feelings ignite. And the man she left behind becomes the one man she can’t outrun.

But second chances come with shadows. And loving a man like Rook means stepping into a world where loyalty is everything… and enemies don’t fight fair.

A gripping, emotional, high‑heat MC romance about first love, second chances, and the kind of devotion that never dies.

Perfect for fans of Devney Perry, Nicole James, and Kristen Ashley.

A definite MC pleasure!
Don’t go into this hoping for Sons of Anarchy vibes. It’s definitely calmer and a bit more cheesy in a good way.
There is some violence, so a trigger warning there. I would say this is more on the mild side when it comes to spice.
The MC brotherhood really feels like a family, and they are emotionally intelligent—which is hard to find in a series.
The romance between Rook and Avery is sweet. I just wish it had a bit more depth beyond him struggling when she leaves for college.
Fun read though!

Summary:
FMC left town with MMCs heart after high school. She wanted him to tell her to stay-he didn't. She is now back in town and rebuilding her life. A chance encounter with the MMC brings about a second chance. Eventual HEA.

Review:
This book was refreshing. It is a mc romance, but it reads like a second chance romance. It is not as gritty or dark as other mc stories. You see and feel the family atmosphere of the mc brotherhood. They are really a family, and they are mature in their thinking. Which is hard to find in a mc series.

The way that the men are open to expressing their support and feelings toward each other---very
nicely written. The FMC comes off as a woman who is healing and moving forward in life. Once again, she seems to be mature as well.

The only thing, I found "lacking" was the ex-boyfriend of the FMC. He showed up, got confronted, said FMC would regret it and then disappeared. It seemed like such an intense scene for him to just disappear. But then maybe he will show up later in the series.

I RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS AN ARC HOWEVER MY REVIEW IS BASED ON MY OPINION OF THE BOOK ITSELF AND NOT INFLUENCED BY THE AUTHOR, ETC.

I was an ARC reader for this book and overall I really loved it. This was such an easy book to fly through and I absolutely ate up the tension, the second chance romance, and the emotional history between the FMC and MMC.

Rook and Avery’s relationship was definitely my favorite part. You could feel the years of hurt, longing, unfinished feelings, and chemistry between them from the very beginning. I am such a sucker for a “coming back to the one person you never truly got over” storyline and this book delivered that really well.

And Rook?? Yeah… I loved him. Protective, possessive, emotionally damaged, still completely gone for her underneath all of it… exactly what I want in an MMC in an MC romance. The slow burn between them was done really well and I loved seeing all of their old feelings slowly come back to the surface.

I also really enjoyed getting introduced to the MC world and the side characters. It definitely made me excited to continue the series and learn more about everyone else because the world has a lot of potential.

The only thing that kept this from being a full 5 stars for me was that at times it felt a little repetitive. Certain phrases, emotional beats, and scenes started to feel familiar after a while, and I found myself wanting a little more uniqueness and variation throughout the story progression.

I also think the drama, emotional tension, and conflict between the characters could have been pushed even further. There were moments where I wanted things to go deeper emotionally and really sit in those intense moments longer because the chemistry and history between them had so much potential for even more impact.

That being said, I still genuinely really enjoyed this book. It was emotional, romantic, addicting, and exactly the kind of MC romance that keeps you turning pages way too fast. I finished it super quickly and I’m definitely excited to continue the series.

Rook was such an emotional and beautifully written story that completely pulled me in from the beginning. The storyline of childhood best friends growing apart and eventually finding their way back to each other felt so real and relatable. I think a lot of people can connect with the idea of loving your best friend, losing touch while life takes you in different directions, and then reconnecting later only to realize the feelings never truly went away.
The MMC going off to war and returning changed, while also becoming part of a biker gang, added so much depth to his character. You could really feel everything he had been through. The MFC returning home from college heartbroken and falling back into the comfort of the person she always loved made their connection even more emotional. I especially loved how she secretly wished he had stopped her from leaving in the first place — that added such a raw and honest layer to their story.
The chemistry between the two main characters was amazing, and I found myself rooting for them the entire time. Their relationship felt natural, emotional, and believable instead of rushed. The happy ending was absolutely worth the journey and left me smiling at the end.
Overall, Rook is a heartfelt second-chance romance filled with love, heartbreak, healing, and finding your way back home to the person who was always meant for you. Definitely a 5-star read for me.

Wow!! Super impressive!

I'm gonna start with the reason it wasn't 5 stars...
- It was too short. Like deceptively short, I don't ever check page or chapter counts so that I don't get worked up if things aren't progressing like I want them to, but the climax of this book is VERY close to the end and then it just kinda wraps things up. I found it all a bit rushed, and although this doesn't fall under the 'insta-love' trope - it's pretty close.

Also, there's no spice. Obviously this is not a reason for it to get a bad review, it's just personal preference. For a really good love story, and the yearning, and the pining for lost love...there should have been something to kick my feet about! There is a scene; non explicit, but open door nonetheless. So, for non-smut readers this is an actual motorcycle club drama you'll enjoy!

Wanna know what I loved? All of it. It's very Hallmark-ish with it's small town vibe and the FMC returning home to re-find her center/ rebuild her life. The MMC (and actually all the members of the MC) are rather fluffy for bike riding, leather wearing, gun toting gang members. Ordinarily, this part would turn me off, but it was done in a really cute way and I just couldn't hate it.

As a last positive note, because the spice is mild and the violence side of it is very minor - this is a safe read for book clubs, and even older teens who want to read what their mom's are reading off booktok!

Rook is the kind of book that doesn’t just tell a story — it completely immerses you in one. The author has an incredible ability to paint vivid, emotionally charged scenes that make the reader feel like they’re standing right beside the characters, experiencing every moment firsthand. From the gritty atmosphere to the raw emotion woven into the dialogue and relationships, every detail feels intentional and alive.

What stood out most to me was how well the author painted the world around the Bloodline Saints. The loyalty, protectiveness, and brotherhood within the club felt authentic and true to the MC world while still showing genuine care and depth within the characters. The balance between toughness and heart made the story feel real instead of overly romanticized.

The imagery throughout the book was cinematic, making it easy to visualize every setting, expression, and tension-filled moment. The characters themselves were layered and believable, and their emotional struggles carried weight. My only critique would be that I would have loved a little more room for the relationship development to grow naturally over time. Expanding on that emotional progression would have made the connection even more powerful and immersive.

Even with that, the story was gripping, emotional, and beautifully written. The author’s ability to create such a vivid atmosphere and emotionally charged experience made this a memorable read that stayed with me long after finishing it.

I received a free ARC of this book and am leaving a review voluntarily.

This book had all the things for me! Rook is a read that immediately draws you in from the very first pages, the setting feels carefully constructed, making it easy to picture every detail and lose yourself in the atmosphere the author has created.

The characters are another standout aspect of the book. Each one is well-described, not just physically but emotionally as well which makes them feel real and relatable. More importantly, they’re genuinely intriguing—each character has layers that unfold as the story progresses, keeping you invested in their journeys and motivations. You’re not just reading about them; you’re trying to understand them.

The storyline itself is well-written and flows smoothly from beginning to end. There’s a natural progression to the plot that makes it easy to follow while still maintaining a sense of anticipation. Nothing feels rushed or out of place, and the pacing allows key moments to have the impact they deserve.

What truly elevates Rook is the care and dedication that the author has poured into it. You can tell this wasn’t written hastily—the attention to detail, the consistency in tone, and the thoughtful development of both plot and characters all point to a writer who invested significant time and heart into the story.

3.5 ⭐️

This was such a solid start to a new MC romance series 🖤
I really enjoyed the childhood friends to lovers aspect of the story and the emotional tension between Avery and Rook. You could feel how much history existed between them, especially with all the years of feelings left unsaid.
Watching Avery come back home after heartbreak and reconnect with the boy she once knew—who has now fully become Rook, the VP of the Bloodline Saints MC—made the romance feel emotional right from the beginning.
And honestly, behind all of Rook’s distance and tough exterior, this man was absolutely yearning for her 😭 That underlying longing added so much heart to the story for me.
I also loved that the MC dynamics felt more supportive than overly chaotic. The club members genuinely cared about each other, and some of the moments between them brought a surprising amount of warmth and humor to the story.
✨ what to expect ✨
🏍️ MC romance
🖤 Childhood friends to lovers
🔥 Longing + unresolved feelings
🏡 Returning home romance
💞 Dual POV
😮‍💨 Protective biker MMC
🌶️ Sweet but open-door spice
My only struggle personally was the third-person POV style since I tend to connect more with first-person romance, but overall this was emotional, bingeable, and left me really excited to continue the series 🤍

Rook by Rook was such an emotional and heartfelt MC romance. From the very beginning, the dedication and content warning felt personal and immediately pulled me into the story.
This book delivers strong themes of brotherhood, second chances, and fighting feelings that never truly disappeared. Avery returns to her hometown after her life starts falling apart, only to come face to face with Noah — now Vice President of the Bloodline Saints MC. The history, tension, and unresolved emotions between them felt so real.
Kinsley Hart captured the raw emotions perfectly. You could feel the hurt, regret, longing, and love in every interaction. I loved watching both Avery and Noah struggle with their feelings while also growing as characters throughout the story. Their emotional journey felt authentic and made me invested in them from start to finish.
The MC brotherhood added another layer of depth to the story. Noah’s club always having his back showed the loyalty and family dynamic that made the Bloodline Saints feel believable and strong.
This story is about love, regret, healing, and finding where you belong. If you enjoy emotional MC romances with second chances, strong brotherhood, and characters fighting for the love they never truly let go of, this is definitely one to read.

This was a sweet but heartwrenching MC romance. Don't expect a dark and violent story, this is mostly a small town second chance plot. The characters are so broken, it almost made me cry for them...
The MC plot took a background spot and was mostly to help us understand how the MMC changed. I liked that. The flashbacks were very insigthful and allows us to understand their previous relationship and why it's so painful for them.

What stopped me from rating Rook 4 stars (and taking from "I really liked it" to "I love it") was that felt like a whole section was missing.
EDIT: The author heard our pleas and decided to add some scenes to help with the pace. All books bought after release, will have those
I was enjoying a bit of back and forth between heartbreaking scenes between the main characters and therapy sessions with the boys when, BAM,

Overall, Rook is a fast and beautiful second chance romance that everyone can enjoy 💕

For me personally, this is 3.5 stars. First, it third person POV. Im not a fan of that style. Second, I felt there was a whole chapter or 2 missing. Reading it, it felt very impersonal. I didnt feel emotions jumping off the page. Lastly, It was very direct? maybe is the word. I want to say AI ish but its not, I know its not. I did skim though a bunch and stuck to dialogue areas at times. If the person thats behind/ above the reapers is continuing or not but if not, that has not resolved in this novel.
What I did like about it was the characters. The club was great, although I would have liked to have seen a little more scenes with the sweetbutts, they were right at the end and it didnt fit in my eyes. You can clearly see Rook and Avery love eachother, and have that connection, even after 7 years apart. The feeling coming off the pages wasn't really there. Overall I did enjoy it. I think this might be Kinsley's debut novel and for that, its a good debut. Im not sure if I will read the rest of the series, especially if they are third person like this one. You should be proud though Kinsley. Its a good start.

I want to say thank you to Kingsley Hart for the opportunity to read the ARC for the first book in the Bloodline Saints MC series called Rook.
This is a shorter book about two people who were childhood friends but they both wanted to be more but held themselves back. After 7 years Avery returns to the town after leaving a cheating boyfriend. The boy she once knew as Noah has become Rook the VP of the motorcycle gang Bloodline Saints. They've changed but behind Rooks mask of pretended indifference is a man yearning for the girl that got away. That part made me tear up a bit and that is always a good sign. I also loved that the bikers were more of a love life support group for Rook. This book is written in third person POV with dual chapters for the characters. And to be honest I've never read a book written like that. There is open spice but it was very sweetly written. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
And please go follow the author Kinsley Hart because she's new on Instagram.

Firstly thank you to the author for allowing me to receive an arc copy to read.

I love any type of MC but I felt it was too off balanced. We follow the story of Avery and Noah, childhood friends who secretly have feelings for each other. Life has other plans and with words unspoken she leaves to go to college even if she wanted him to ask her to stay.

7 years later and she’s back in her hometown after her life’s imploded and who does she see on her first night? Noah, and straight away he’s there to her rescue because she’s still the girl he loved growing up even if he is in denial.

The reason I think it’s off balanced is because until 53% in the book it felt like nothing was happening just a lot of foundation work laid for the characters but then things just are thrown at you and not necessarily a good way either. It was way too fast paced and didn’t make a lot of sense in many parts.

This has potential to be an amazing book! I feel if it was longer then the events would have been proportioned well and not feel like a random explosion.

Rook and Avery’s relationship had me screaming at them and then swooning. It’s amazing how not saying how you feel can completely change your life but not your heart. All she want was the words “don’t go stay here” . All he need was I need you. Leaving was hard coming back was harder but life throws you curve balls.
These two have a had unspoken love, but college and joining the military stops words. The moment they see each other, both know what those years cost them, but it is only when a rival MC start to threaten Avery does Rook confess his feelings. The chemistry between them is hot and true. Loved the MC family and the women of the club show and give Avery the strength she needs.
Both stubborn, both longing for the other but wow making up time, shows how much they need to be in each others life’s. Rook is so protective and dare any one touch his woman. WOW. Loved how Avery learnt to bake again and used Rook as her taster.
Danger, family, drama, romance and pure chemistry.

This was a solid read for me. It was easy to get into, and I really liked the second-chance dynamic between Avery and Noah (Rook). Their history gave the story real emotional weight, and you could feel how much unresolved hurt still sat between them. That worked especially well because it made their scenes together feel more charged, and I kept wanting to see how they would work through everything. There was enough tension and emotion to keep me hooked without it feeling overly heavy.

There were a few places where I wanted a bit more, especially around the MC and military elements, because those details felt really interesting and could have added even more depth. I also would have liked to get to know the side characters better, since they seemed full of personality. Overall, I still enjoyed this one. It has an emotional, slightly gritty small-town romance vibe that makes it a quick, easy book to fly through. If you like second-chance romance there is a lot here to enjoy.

Rook is a brilliant start to a new series. Noah and Avery were childhood friends that were on the verge of becoming more when Avery left for college. Neither of them was able to fully move on from the other. Neither is them are the same, Noah is now Rook VP of the Bloodline Saints MC and Avery is trying to pull her life back together after it all fell apart.

This book is a really refreshing take on MC romance, the men a loyal as are the women and the club bunnies stay in their lane. Don’t let the fact that this is an MC book put you off. This is an emotional read as both Noah and Avery deal with the past, present and future. The Bloodline Saints are a great club that feels like a family.

It is an MC book so you can expect a little drama, intrigue, and violence however not to much. There is nothing not to like about this book, of course it is book one so there is an overriding story ARC with a rival club that I cannot wait to see play out.

I quite enjoyed this book, especially Rook/Noah as the male main character. He had so much heart, loyalty, integrity, and grit, and honestly carried a lot of the emotional weight of the story. His character felt strong, protective, and deeply devoted without losing his humanity.

Avery, on the other hand, was a frustrating main character for me. She often came across as self-centered, narcissistic and emotionally exhausting, constantly pulling Noah/Rook into chaos while avoiding real accountability or sacrifice herself. The push-pull dynamic became quite toxic at times, and I kept hoping for more growth, communication, and emotional maturity from her. Rook deserved a lot more consistency, honesty and emotional investment from her than he was given.

That said, the chemistry, emotion, and tension throughout the story definitely kept me invested.

This was my first time reading Kinsley Hart and while Rook was definitely readable, for me it lacked depth and I felt like not a lot really happened throughout the story. There was also quite a bit of repetition when it came to the MCs’ feelings.

I did like Avery and Rook (Noah) as characters — they were both likable and sweet together — but I personally didn’t feel a strong chemistry between them.

The series definitely has potential, especially with the clubhouse setting, but it felt underdeveloped. Most of the interaction seemed to revolve around the brothers waiting for Rook to return every night to hear how things went with Avery, which felt a little strange at times, as though they had no lives outside of Rook’s storyline and were overly invested.

Overall, it’s a readable start to the series, but I’d love to see more depth, stronger chemistry, and more going on within the club dynamics in future books.

Thank you for the ARC — this is my honest review.

Loved it. It kept my attention the entire time.

It reminded me of SOA ( sons of anarchy) in a way. Just how Avery went off to college, made a life for herself but ended up coming back to her home. And Rook being VP but he did in a way make a life too. He went to the military for awhile before joining the MC and becoming VP.

Loved how Rook tried to fight his feelings the moment he seen Avery again and the same for her. It just shows that sometimes it’s best to not fight the feelings bc in the end they usually win when it comes to true love. That’s what I had felt in this as well was they were meant to be together from the start. However when you love someone and want what’s best for them you will let them go and follow their dreams bc if it’s truly meant to be then one day they will come back around and stay.

I’m looking forward to book 2!

Do you remember your your first best friend, your first love, the boy that looked at you like you were the only one on the planet, the only other person in his world?

Avery Brooks never thought she would return to a place that was once her safe space, a bakery filled with memories and emotions of a life left behind, a boy who was her best friend. A new start surround by old comforts.

Rook, a tuff as nails possessive MC that watched his best friend walk out of his life then spent the next 7 years forging a name for himself, a name that comes with a warning.

Slow burn that will spark your own teenage memories of your love, stir up feels you may have tucked away as time went by.

Who doesn't love a rough, tattooed mc with a eyes only for that of his first love.

Kinsley Hart's book Rook was a gritty, emotionally charged motorcycle club romance jam packed with danger, loyalty, and undeniable chemistry. In this story, we follow the story of the FMC Avery Brooks as she returns to her hometown with a broken heart. Upon her return, she runs into the MMC Noah 'Rook' Carter, Vice President of the Bloodline Saints MC. One of the strongest elements of the novel I felt is Hart's ability to create an intense emotional tension between the characters that kept you on the edge of your seat. Overall, Rook is a gripping and addictive romance that is the perfect start to the Bloodline Saints MC series!

The 2 heros of the story were tied together in their youth but life separated them even though neither of them wanted to let go. Both too proud to say what they really felt.
7 years later Noah and Avery cross paths again when she returns to town broken and ready for a fresh start.
Both have changed and matured in that time but then Avery's safety is jeopardised and everything escalates very quickly.
I found this a great quick read and thoroughly enjoyed meeting all the characters in the Bloodline Saints MC.
Each personality has their own quirks. I had a few giggles along the way and really look forward to exploring each and every one of them in the rest of the series.

Need a good MC book? Check
Need something a bit lighter? Also check.

My first book from Kinsley Hart & I am hooked! I loved a good motorcycle club to get lost in and hey Bloodline Saints, I forgot to eat today & and it's your fault. I'm a fan of dark, morally gray characters and these boys were on the light side of that. Which is not at all bad! This is more of a fun, sweet read with hallmark esque vibes than a dark nitty gritty nail biter. It is in third person which i'm not a huge fan of, but still a good book!

I saw a post about this book on Facebook a couple weeks ago and then saw it again a couple days later on Tik Tok. I’ve been waiting not so patiently since. Grumbling impatiently as I counted down every time it popped up on my fyp.

I was so excited to be able to download this book today. I read it in a couple very short hours. I’m hooked. My only complaint is that I wanted more of this world.

Rook was the perfect balance of possessive alpha MC VP and cinnamon roll. Protective while letting Avery fight her own demons. Stepping in only when she couldn’t handle it on her own.

I read it on KU but excuse me while I go add a physical copy to my MC book library so I can read it again.

Where does a person go when their life crumbles? When all they have left is where they ran from? When seeing the one who didn't want to keep them is? You will find out what Avery and Noah/Rook's version of this is. This was a slow burn, angst and possibly second chance page turner. I loved this book for the found family, for the character growth and reflection, the memories (I want to meet Avery's grandmother and taste her pastries!). I cannot wait for more books of this series!

I really loved the relationship that Avery & Noah had from the very start of this book. It was sweet, endearing and protective. As childhood friends until Avery left for college and their lives went in separate directions splitting their friendship up. Only for years later circumstances brought Avery back to her hometown and back into Noah's life but now he's the Vice President of the Bloodline Saints MC now going by Rook. An MC full of rough but loyal bikers who I kinda liked and I'm hoping to read more about each of them. The heart of this book was the rekindled relationship that Avery and Rook had together. Two people that any could see from the first chapter were meant to be together but life got in their way but events brought them in each other's lives. I genuinely loved them as a couple even if I did wish this book had been longer because I enjoyed reading and wanted to read more from both of them.

Avery left after high school. Noah/Rook let her go. When she moves back things have changed. They quickly fall back into feelings. His MC loves her. She’s trying to pick up the pieces of her life. Things take a dark turn and now he’s going to protect her with everything he has.

My first time reading this author. I already can’t wait for the next book in this series because I am here ready and waiting.

Review of advance reader copy. Second chance? Found family? Friends to forever? A brooding VP? Yes please!!! If you like MCs (motorcycle club), acceptance with no questions asked, read Rook. The characters and descriptions create the silhouettes of imagery in your mind. Rocky starts, resistance and entanglement with a slow ❤️‍🔥 bring the Saints to accept a lost love without question. They will do anything to protect family and their teritory. The side characters are also part that make the story great. Happy reading.

I love a good motorcycle club romance. This one had some added surprises. Unlike a lot of MC stories, this club is mostly above the board. They are more about protecting their county and less about the illegal things you often read in stories like this.

Avery comes home after being gone for seven years. She's only just arrived, in tears, when she finds herself face to face with Noah. He's the one she left behind, the one who didn't fight for her to stay. Beneath it all is misunderstanding, secrets, and a love that never left.
