This was my 3rd book by Cassandra Joelle, and was by far my favorite so far. I didn't love her last release (mainly because of the FMC), but this one was SO good! I loved the characters, the plot, the setting, and the faith in this story. This will be a hard story to beat!

Sadie (such a cute name!) is a new-to-Hollywood starlet with a hot actor boyfriend and budding career. That is, until her cowboy obsessed boyfriend tries to push her purity boundaries and then spreads lies that ruin her career. Left with no job prospects she heads home, only to have an indie Christian film company offer her a role filming in Wyoming on a ranch. Sadie eagerly accepts, and it's love at first sight when she steps foot on the ranch, and love at first sight when she first lays eyes on Rhett, the ranch owners' son. She tries to avoid her attraction to Rhett, because the last thing she needs is another romantic entanglement causing a scandal. But Rhett is a REAL cowboy– entirely too masculine and genuine compared to her sad excuse of an ex-boyfriend. While Rhett teaches Sadie how to ride horseback for her movie role, she teaches him to open his heart to love and take a risk when it's easier to stay safe. As the movie wraps, Sadie has to decide between a future in film or a life in Wyoming with Rhett.

The characters in this story were superb. I loved Sadie and Rhett and their romance. I loved Pat, Rhett's mom, and her warm-hearted meddling. Sadie's phone conversations with her best friend, Molly, were so sweet, and even Sadie's agent Janie had her back. Tommy, Sadie's actor boyfriend at the beginning of the book, was such a great example of someone claiming they are a Christian, while bearing zero fruit that show they actually follow Christ. He was entirely unlikable, and I loved that Sadie ditched him early on as soon as his true colors started to show. I also really liked that Sadie saw the dark side of Hollywood in general, and instead of chasing fame, she chose to use her talent in a God-honoring way. The ending to the story was so sweet and wholesome, and I really enjoyed it!

As usual, the story had moderate to strong faith content, and it was genuinely central to Sadie's thought life and actions. Rhett also had a strong relationship with God, and was willing to sacrifice his desires to honor Sadie's calling. Sadie demonstrated what it looks like to go through hardship with grace, and not to lower yourself to retaliation and resentment, but to instead pray for those who hurt you. It was entirely convicting to a personal situation currently going on in my life, and God used this story to reaffirm what He asked me to do (or not do) in response to the situation. A mark of a great book is that it has applications and takeaways for our own lives, and this book did that.

What I enjoyed:
🦝 Cowboy/ranch characters & setting
🦝 Themes of Hollywood shallowness
🦝 A kind, humble FMC
🦝 Strong, masculine, protective MMC
🦝 Pat & her cooking
🦝 Horseback riding training
🦝 Pink sweater wearing raccoons

⚠️ Content Warnings:
- Ruined reputation/defamation
- Mentions of past alcohol use

My Rating: 4.5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫
Writing: 4.5
Story & Characters: 5
Faith & Content: 4
Enjoyability: 4.5

If you are new to Cassandra Joelle books, I highly recommend this one as a great place to start. All of her books are adorable and faith-filled, but this one really checked of all of the boxes for what I love in a Christian rom-com!

Such a cute, quick read full of Jesus, banter, & cowboys 👏🏻

I absolutely loved the Molly & Sadie text threads & phone calls. Molly was so funny.

Insta-love is one of my least fav things, but this was still super cute!

📖: 1st person, dual POV
🤬: no foul language
🌶️: kisses only
⚠️: defamation of character, talk of past alcohol use (nothing drawn out or anything, just mentioning here)

Huge thank you to Cassandra for allowing me to be an early reader 🫶🏼

DNF at 30%

"I was drawn to him like a fly on a horse's rear end."

I didn't say it. She insulted herself.

Man, it's the same trope as in Howdy, handsome: I am attracted to him/her, I don't know why, and I have these dirty thoughts kind of trope 😩.

I knew it was going there, but I wanted to give it a chance. It let me down once more. It seems that A New Leash on Life and Fetching Love were an exception to what Mrs. Joelle usually writes.

Absolutely. Amazing.🙌🏼

Definitely a new favorite by Cassandra, and you guys know how much I love all of her books. This one could even rival Howdy, Handsome. Although…hmm, I don’t know, because that one still might hold the top spot.🤭

Everything about this story just worked so well. The faith themes were woven in beautifully, the characters were SO lovable and genuine, and the setting absolutely stole my heart. I could literally read about Wyoming forever and never get tired of it.🫠❤️

Rhett? Goodness. Absolutely swoony. (I mean, not only is this man a cowboy, but he also plays guitar and sings. You guys have no idea how devastated I was that I couldn’t actually hear him doing that.🤪🤧🤣)

But anyways! I loved Sadie as well, and I really appreciated the way her story and struggles were handled throughout the book. Everything was just really well done.❤️
It must also be noted that I absolutely LOVED the side characters as well.🫶🏼🙌🏼

This is one of those books that is honestly hard to review because all I want to say is: it was SO good! I enjoyed every moment of it and would absolutely recommend it.🫶🏼

And as always, it has become tradition for me to read every Cassandra book with my friend Keren, so getting to buddy read this one with her was awesome.❤️

Absolutely loved it!!!!

I love how Christian values are throughout the story! The Characters were perfectly written and executed! I will always read a Cassandra Joelle novel. This one such a beautiful love story that feels like real life.

Thank you for continuing to have standards to write clean romance that even I would let daughter read some day. Thank you also for allowing me the opportunity to be an ARC on this book!!💕✝️

Always 5 stars!
I love how the author addresses realistic temptations from the world and instead of letting her characters succumb to those temptations, she has them be realistic but stand strong and glorify God.
Also, the scenery in this book was written so well I felt like I could hear the river, smell the fresh air, and see the sunrise.

What an absolutely beautiful book. Cassandra truly enveloped romance in a way that felt cute and meaningful, while keeping it closed door, and full of the Lord. Honestly, this book inspired me to pray about every decision I make and to look to the Lord in the mundane, and in the big moments. This was such an exceptional read for me.

Such a cute book about loving yourself and not letting the opinions of others affect you. I LOVED Sadie’s best friend Molly, and all their conversations. Rhett and Sadie had the absolute cutest interactions and moments together. Watching their growth journeys was so good. Christian themes and no-spice! 🫶🏻

Giddy Up Gorgeous

I am really loving how Cassandra Joelle’s writing is developing. Each time I read one of her books, I think she can’t top it, and then she does. The characters are real, entertaining, Christian people that I want to learn more about. It is such a joy to spend my time reading her stories. In this book the FMC is an actress in Hollywood and the MMC is a small town cowboy. Also, pet raccoons…now you have to read it 😂. 5⭐️

My favorite book by this author so far. Sadie is a young and promising actress…AND has firm values on her faith and what that looks like for her future in the industry. After being humiliated and hurt by Hollywood’s up and coming Actor she decides to take a role for a Chritian movie company in Wyoming… far from Hollywood. There she discovers so much more than fame and stardom. She is challenged, changed, and possibly swept off her feet by a REAL cowboy, not a Hollywood wanna-be. Not only does going to a Wyoming awaken new dreams, but will she let herself fall for cowboy Rhett Reed?
