Okay, so I didn’t mean to break the guy out of prison and become his pretty little hostage. It just kinda happened. Can you blame me? Vicious murder tendencies aside, he’s one hell of a snack!
Stone Blackthorne. Even his name rubs me the right way.
Sure, he might be a convicted felon and be the most wanted man on Earth, but under all of those red flags, he’s probably a really nice guy. Just misunderstood.
Screw red. Stone’s flags are pitch black, but that’s the way I like it.
Want me to be your filthy little hostage? Okay. Just tell me how loud I should beg.
Need me to scream and make a break for it through the woods while you chase me, mask optional? You won’t see me complaining.
But want to put me at the top of your kill list for reasons completely beyond my control? Now that’s where I draw the line.
I know I’m a good girl at heart, but sometimes even the good girls need to be a little bad.
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ [ 4 Star Review ] ☀︎ ❥ ☀︎ OPPS! I'M WANTED AGAIN ☀︎ ❥ ☀︎ Is a full length Dark Prison Break Rom-Com book by author Sheridan Anne. Spoken in dual POV's.
Tropes: 💣 Enemies to Lovers 💣 Escaped prisoner 💣 On the run 💣 Grumpy | Sunshine 💣 Touch her and die 💣 Mistaken identity
As soon as I saw those teasers dropping I knew I had to grab this, love the tropes, love the cover, love the author, no brainer to read it..
God where to even start with this, I grabbed my coffee, sat down on my comfy couch and before I knew it I'd finished this, this author has such an uncanny knack at pulling me in, everything I've read by her are unique, unforgettable, unputdownable and leave you craving more.
She was there (wrong time, right place) to get the story of a lifetime, only to be smack dab in the middle of a riot, men in there for unthinkable crimes have one thing they want...Her...And they will stop at nothing to get her. Her only salvation is to rely on Stone the notorious killer to save her..
Stone Blackthorne, is currently serving a life time sentence for murder but his story isn't so cut and dry, there's many holes in his story which don't add up, and like a dog with a bone Aria is going to prise them out of him. She's followed his story since his incarceration and is prepared to throw some hard questions his way.
I loved these two, the banter, the twists and turns, the reconnecting, on the run, dodging cops, this threw everything it could at me and I lapped up every second of it.
* Teasers used are off the authors facebook page *
I really liked this one! It kind of has an abrupt ending and less rom com feel for me but I really enjoyed the storyline and both main characters. Definitely worth the read!
2.5⭐️ Started strong, but the prison riot was the beginning of the end. Can we please stop calling books rom-coms when they’re not funny and the romance is basically nonexistent? Friendly reminder: banter ≠ humor.
After about 40% I skimmed this pretty hard. It started out promising but the characters just didn't do it for me and the whole storyline wasn't all that interesting. Honestly one of my most hated tropes so that's on me, but either way I already wasn't enjoying the writing of these characters before that came into play.
𝗛𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗦: ♥︎ dark romcom ♥︎ grumpy x sunshine ♥︎ mistaken identity(ish) ♥︎ chaotic prison break ♥︎ hysterical banter ♥︎ on the run together ♥︎ feisty take no shit fmc ♥︎ XL of a man mmc
I listened to the audio of this one and it was sooo good.
This follows Aria who has just got her big break and secured an interview with convicted felon Stone Blackthorne, currently serving life for murder. But Stones story has holes and Aria is determined to find out the truth. Imagine her surprise when she finds out she’s top of his murder list for reasons unknown to her and oh yeah, she’s currently helping him escape prison!
“How did my big break, turn into his big break out?” – Aria Ashford
Not your usual story line which I LOVED as it leaves you guessing how Aria and Stone are getting out of their situation.
I really can’t say much more about this without spoilers but you have to read this.
What to expect: 🔪 prison break 🔥 unhinged decisions 💋 questionable flirting at the worst possible times 🚔 on the run 😈 morally grey everything
There’s also a bonus scene at the end of this book that you NEED to read!!
Sheridan is an expert at writing hot, dangerous men. In whom, by 3 or 4 chapters have me and the FMC in a literal chokehold. Stone is 6'7", a beast locked up to serve 190years, give or take, and in the end you will be rooting for his HEA.
Sometimes people do bad things for good reasons. Sometimes people get dealt crap hands. This is a book of unfolding truths, healing and new beginnings. Lots of laughs and struggles, she said dark romcom and well it was. I laughed, I swooned, and I got a little grossed out.
There's a few spicy scenes that are incredible. The danger, the living and loving in the moment.
1000% RECOMMENDED!!! One of my top 5 books of 2026.....
What in the ever loving did I just read..... I know, another brilliantly written story by the best Australian author that I constantly read over & over again. This author is so freaking good I recommend her so much to my friends. This sneaky author released this to the public without any preorders & it made my day!!.
He's in for alot of human years for the past mistakes he has made. She is a reporter for a company that does not value her work & she is constantly keeping up with the updated news. She follows Stone's history & goes for an interview at the jail he is in. Aria & Stone's relationship is full on. Long story short, she follows him outta the jail on onto the streets by being a victim in the beginning. Then makes her moves on him *wink wink*. Their banter is really cute, upbeat & very enjoyable to read. I fell in love with them both during this & didn't want the story to finish at all.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Stone in prison for life but with a vendetta to uphold. Aria, a journalist gets the scoop on his story and then their world is turned upside down. She is the top of his k!ll list, though once you start reading you get the reasons why. Her banal banter is amusing, her non stop chattering in order to antagonise him is great. Stone spent 7 years building himself up and as such is a big, wall of muscles not to mention his height too.
It was a relatively quick read, that flowed well within the parameters that gives us a plot with some amusing moments, spicy times, violence/m^*der leading us toward their HEA.
As always, Sheridan has killed it again with this one !! First of all, she didn’t tell anyone she was releasing it and then BAM, amazing dark romcom. I have loved every Sheridan book I have read. They are always dark and make you connect with every single one of her characters. This one was no different, but she added some amazing humor for a twist. The build up of enemies to lovers took a whole new level because the two main characters have a twisted past you don’t see coming. I loved everything about this one !
I love Sheridan Anne's books, and this was no exception. The tension, action, angst, humor, and spice were top notch. Stone is now at the top of my list for book boyfriends lol. There was enough going on in the book that I was entertained & wondering what would happen next throughout the whole book, which I finished in 24 hours. Also, if you read it on Kindle, there's a link at the end to get a bonus ending and I highly recommend reading that if you enjoyed the rest of the book.
4.75 stars I absolutely devoured this! I love the whole concept of this book. Sheridan's writing is 10/10 as always. It flowed so well with twists and turns. I love a sassy FMC and protective MMC. If you are looking for a book that delivers on ups and downs, banter, tough love and sweet endings this is for you!! Happy reading xo
I’m a lil disappointed in this one I won’t lie. I went in with high hopes, and was so stoked to get my hands on the SE of this book from an event last month however it did not wow me at all. Overall it was just average, the banter really wasn’t all that great and the spice didn’t win me over either.
Stone is the biggest red flag… but it’s fine, we’re all conveniently colour blind here 🚩💀 Just know this: dark prison break rom-com. That’s it. Go in blind
Oh I loved this! It was just the right amount of dark plus humor and it just hit the spot. I love a good prison break Romance and this was just perfect!
This book is a bad room com that would have went straight to DVD . The book is not funny . The banter was awful The bumbling FMC is not endearing . The plot or lack of was awful .
I downloaded this book based on a Tik Tok book recommendation from this girl and I’ve discovered a few things while trying to trudge through this awful book .
I loathe “ rom com books “ I don’t know her name but she’s annoying as hell and she gives the absolute fucking worst book recommendations on earth . When I find that slag’s page I will insert her name . She listed this as one of the spicier books she read this year . If this is spicy I’m Gonna assume she’s a virgin .
I wish I loved this, but after the 50%, I lost it.
The first 50% was honestly super great. I enjoyed how the story unfolded and learning why the MMC was in jail, and finding out how the FMC was connected to it all.
What lost me......
The FMC got on my nerves. I didn't connect well with her, and honestly on her parts, I kind of skimmed through.
The story just kept going around in a circle after 50% and you could honestly guess what was going to happen in the next chapter since it was almost exactly what happened in the chapter before.
I sadly don't recommend this book. Reading is subjective, so please still give it a go, it might be a 5 star read for you!
This book started off all guns blazing! It was high stakes from the beginning. I was immediately hooked on the chaotic turn of events and loved the prison break vibes of the story. The characters were individually strong, though I didn't connect with them as a pair as much as I'd have hoped. The chemistry was there, and it was hot, but didn't quite hit the mark for me. I also found myself disengaged by the end and was hoping for something a bit more. It will definitely appeal to other readers - it just fell a bit short for me.
Title: Oops I'm Wanted Again: A Dark Prison Break Rom-Com Author: Sheridan Anne Genre/Subgenres: Dark Romantic Comedy, Romantic Suspense, Action Romance, Crime Romance Rating: 4.5/5 ★ Spice: 4/5
Recommended for: Readers who enjoy chaotic heroines, morally gray characters, criminal antics, prison-break shenanigans, dark humor, high-energy romance, and stories that don't take themselves too seriously.
Tropes: • Morally Gray Characters • Reckless Strong-Willed Heroine FMC • Protective Anti-Hero MMC • The Voice of Reason (Attempting and Failing) • Dark Humor • "How Did We End Up Here?" • Forced Proximity (On the Run) • Prison Break • Partners in Crime • Criminal Shenanigans • Touch Her and Die • High Stakes Romance • Ride or Die Relationship
Content Warnings: May vary by reader, but potential triggers include: • Prison and incarceration themes • Violence and physical altercations • Criminal activity • Kidnapping and captivity references • Weapons • Murder and death references • Strong language • Explicit sexual content • Morally gray characters • High-risk and dangerous situations Please check additional content warnings if you have specific sensitivities.
My Thoughts: Sheridan Anne delivers exactly what the title insinuates which is in my opinion complete chaos, outrageous situations, criminal shenanigans and a heroine who somehow manages to make every bad situation even worse. Oops I'm Wanted Again blended dark humor with dark romance and action in a way that kept the story moving at a rapid pace and made it impossible for me to put down.
This book felt like a wild ride from beginning to end. The humor is perfect, the situations are ridiculous in the best possible way, and the romance develops amidst a constant stream of trouble and has a touch of suspense & thrill attached to the buildup. If you're looking for a realistic crime story, this is not it, but if you want something entertaining, fast-paced, and packed with personality, and excellent spice content then this delivered all that for me and it will for you.
One of the biggest strengths of this book is its willingness to embrace the absurd. Let’s realistic this would never happen in the real world and that is exactly it is one of the best dark romantic comedy’s I have read. Rather than trying to be a serious dark romance, it leans into the comedy and creates a reading experience that feels unique within the genre.
What Worked for Me: • The Chaotic Energy The story never slows down. It is fast, it kept me hooked into the story. I read this in 3 hours on a plane to London and during that time, I couldn’t tell you if the flight was smooth or turbulent, if the fight attndants asked me questions or if anyone spoke to me. Every time it seems like the characters might catch a break, another problem appears and it is absurdly hilarious
• The Humor Dark humor can be difficult to balance for many authors, but Sheridan Anne manages to create genuinely funny moments even during dangerous situations. I found myself laughing at several of the characters' decisions simply because they were so outrageous. This was perfect parallel to my dark witty humor.
• The Character Personalities The characters felt larger than life. FMC was badass, indepent, witty, chaotic and genuinely authentic to the crazy absurd plot. MMC was anti-hero grump but extremely protective…eventually. Their interactions were entertaining, and the chemistry between the leads helped anchor the more chaotic plot elements.
• Fast-Paced Storytelling This is the kind of book that's easy to binge-read. Chapters move quickly, and there's always something happening to keep readers invested.
• Suspension of Disbelief Is Required Some plot developments require readers to fully embrace the chaos and avoid overanalyzing the logistics. Readers looking for realism may struggle with certain events. I certainly did not find that to be an issue at all.
What Didn't Work for Me: • Over the Top Situations While the absurdity was part of the fun for me, some readers may find certain scenarios a little too exaggerated or unbelievable. For me it did not detract from the book and I still binge-read this book. It did not affect my rating.
• Limited Downtime Because the story moves so quickly, there aren't many quiet moments for reflection. Readers who enjoy slower character driven development may wish for a bit more breathing room.
Things to Consider Before Reading: • This is a dark rom-com, not a traditional dark romance. It has humor with darkness. • Humor is a major focus of the story. • The characters make questionable decisions, often repeatedly. • Realism takes a backseat to entertainment. • Expect criminal chaos, danger, and ridiculous situations. • The story is intentionally exaggerated and playful despite darker themes.
Neurodivergent Thoughts: As a neurodivergent reader, one thing I appreciated was the book's constant momentum. The fast pacing and frequent plot developments helped keep my attention engaged and minimized the risk of my mind wandering during slower sections. I struggle with pacing issues in most of my reads and this book did not cause any issues at all. My focus and attention were top-notch during this read.
The dark humor worked particularly well because it broke up tense moments and created a reading experience that felt stimulating rather than emotionally draining. Humor is a positive coping mechanism and is more realistic to real life darkness/trauma/angst than some of the more serious dark romance reads. My point being that reading humor in these situations is a sign of mature coping mechanisms.
That said, readers who become overwhelmed by highly chaotic narratives may find the nonstop action a bit overstimulating and absurd. This is a "hold on and enjoy the ride" type of story.
Final Thoughts: Oops I'm Wanted Again: A Dark Prison Break Rom Com is a wildly entertaining blend of romance, crime, action, and humor. Sheridan Anne fully embraces the absurdity of the plot and delivers a story packed with chaos, danger, chemistry, and laugh-out-loud moments. She is quickly becoming one of my absolute favorite to read authors…stay tuned for more reviews.
If you enjoy morally gray characters, ridiculous situations, and romances that don't take themselves too seriously, this book is worth picking up. It won't be for readers seeking realism or a deeply emotional character study, but for those looking for an entertaining escape filled with criminal chaos and dark humor, it's a lot of fun.
Overall Rating: 4.5/5 ★
Would I Recommend It? Yes, especially for readers who love absurd dark romantic comedy’s set in the background of prison break and high spice content.

✨ First Impressions I knew this was going to be alot of fun. I did this book via audiobook and it was duet and it was amazing, the different voices definitely made the story so much better. It was a funny, action packed book, it does have darker themes but also had the right amount of banter and humour.
🖤 Plot & Pacing Plot is fantastic. Aria has a sass mouth and pestered the worst criminal's lawyer into letting her interview him. she has tenacity thats for sure. only she goes to interview him and her gross boss takes over (i was so mad) then a riot breaks out at the prison. aria is now locked in a room with a psycho who saves her from the inmates but also wants to kill her. So many secrets hidden in this book! 🔥 Characters Aria- Suffered Injury and has memory loss and while recouping in hospital obsessed over court TV of a serial killer and his case. She is sassy and opinionated, she builds her life and becomes a journalist and annoys his lawyer enough to finally interview Stone. She also has secrets Stone- 6"7 (IYKYK) beast of a man, tattooed to hell, convicted serial killer and secret keeper.
🌶️ Spice Level Ooof! Get me a MOP coz damn this was some good spice. My Fav: Aria seeing a pentagram in a haunted house and before getting dirty asks if the demon has a barbed "member" !!! cackling. But in all seriousness..... its spicy and hot a hell. Also Stone is 6"7 soooooo you know its monstrous!
🫶 Final Thoughts I need more Dark Romance Rom-Coms.... Like a Dark-Com??? It was gritty, fun, action packed, and spicy. The audio narration was perfection and the extra art work inside the written versions ! *Chefs KISS* 📢 Would I Recommend? If you loved Butcher and Blackbird or love a bit of comedy with your villains then this is for you 🖤 Dark: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🌶️ Spice: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Banter: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
greening giggling laughing gasping screaming wheezing throwing up
Okayyy… this was my first book by this author, so I'll admit my feelings are a bit conflicted. Overall, it was enjoyable and fun, but the plot dragged in places and then rushed into the conclusion. The storyline had promise, I just wish the execution had been handled better.
Oops! I’m Wanted Again leans fully into chaos in the best way. Reporter Aria sets out to interview Stone Blackthorne, the most notorious killer alive, serving four life sentences at Hartley Creek Maximum Security Penitentiary. What begins as a prison interview spirals into a jailbreak, and suddenly Aria is on the run with Stone. Dark, gritty, fast‑paced, suspenseful, and still funny enough to keep that rom‑com edge. It’s feral and unhinged in a promising way.
The pacing was uneven: slow and dragged at first, then a climax that felt too sudden and a conclusion that was overly short and direct. Their shared past could've been developed more, with deeper background for both characters. I also wished for more brutal detail in Stone's final kill list, and the "most wanted fugitive" angle felt a little lame. Still, the humor at the beginning softened things, and the ending tied it together just enough.
Huge appreciation to Lee Samuels and Brooke Daniels for narrating this audiobook. They made Stone and Aria come alive, and the duet style elevated every chase, every tense moment, and every hilarious exchange. Their performance made the story more fun and bearable.
Since this was my first book from the author, I'm still getting used to her writing style. But I'm curious enough to check out more of her works. So, let's see if my heart pulls me back to her in the future💥🏃🏻♀️
Aria is a journalist trying to make a name for herself, and she is determined that this interview will do it. Having become obsessed with a notorious killer as she watched his trial from her hospital room 7 years ago, she is convinced there is more to the story than what the lawyers portrayed, and that she will be the one to uncover the truth. When she arrives at the prison with her boss and their crew, the last thing she expected was for the man in the orange jumpsuit to act like they knew each other, and that she had betrayed him in some way. When a prison riot forces her to follow him or be left to the convicts chasing her, she crosses her fingers and hopes for the best.
Despite his four consecutive life sentences, Stone has one mission, get back at the people responsible for putting him away, and the redheaded journalist is at the top of his list. While she pretends not to know him, he knows better, and he will do whatever it takes to make his Menace pay. As easy as it would be to use the chaos of a riot to snap her neck and walk away, he needs her to confess her sins, so now he’s forced to drag her along on his escape.
In true Sheridan Anne fashion, this book was unhinged in the best possible way, and yet the chaos that ensues from Stone and Aria connecting had me laughing out loud at times. Although she’s convinced this is a case of mistaken identity, Aria can’t deny how attracted she is to Stone, and even knowing he could end her without a second glance isn’t enough for her to stay away. While she convinces herself that she can just distract him long enough to escape, once she sumbits to him, there’s no going back.
📚 Oops! I’m Wanted Again 🖋️ Sheridan Anne ✨ Standalone
🖤 One phrase: deranged hostage rom com with black flag chemistry.
This sounds absolutely feral in the best way. A prison interview turns into a jailbreak, and suddenly Aria is on the run with Stone Blackthorne, a convicted felon who is apparently one giant walking red flag, except red is way too soft for him. What makes this one special is that it seems to fully lean into the chaos. Dark, gritty, fast paced, suspenseful, and still funny enough to keep that rom com edge.
My favorite part is easily the setup. “Oops, I accidentally broke a murderer out of prison and now I’m his pretty little hostage” is such an outrageous hook. Add in the chase, the mystery around Stone’s past, the alpha protective energy, and the fact that the chemistry sounds hot enough to set the whole forest on fire? Yeah, I get it.
✨ Tropes & vibes 🚨 prison break chaos 🖤 dark rom com 🔪 hostage romance 🔥 black flag hero 🏃 on the run together 😮 suspense and mystery 💋 filthy banter energy
📖 Read this if you like 😈 dark romance with humor 🔥 dangerous men who are somehow still hot 🚓 fast paced romantic suspense 🖤 books that feel chaotic from page one
Stone Blackthorne sounds like the kind of man you absolutely should not trust... which is obviously the appeal.
