VOLUME 3 IN THE "HOTEL STORIES" SHORT STORY SERIES

When the 800 general managers of a luxury hotel chain assemble at a Florida resort for their annual company conference, the top management has a habit of addressing everyone as "Gents" - even though there are 24 female general managers present. One of them is Ms N, the brilliant, unpredictable and occasionally homicidal hotelier introduced in "The Two Rooms" and "The White Blouse". When Mr Buddy Knox, the brashest, toughest, most macho manager in the chain challenges Ms N for the post of General Manager of a fabulous new boutique hotel in Paris, Ms N hatches a plan, together with her beautiful but naive ally Tatiana, to teach him - and other senior managers - a lesson.

"Ms N keeps on getting darker and even more likeable! Another deliciously dark and thoroughly entertaining and fast paced tale. It really is a page turner and I can't wait to see what Ms N gets up to on her next posting...! Keep them coming Mr Pimm!" - Reader review

"The formidable Ms N is not to be messed with... Mr Pimm writes well about the absurdities of corporate life, and there is more overt humour in this Hotel Story than its predecessors." Reader review.

"My favourite of the Hotel Stories - apart from being extremely funny, this is also a perceptive look at how women continue the struggle to work in a world dominated by men. Ms N is a force to be reckoned with, and her attitude is inspiring..." Anna Leigh.

"A shrewd and very enjoyable account of corporate life and its absurdities and conformities. Tatiana makes a compelling and credible half insider, half outsider; naive occasionally, but an excellent observer. It's tautly plotted and would make a very entertaining film..." Richard Powell.

"Funny, pacy, sexy... Pimm has the sharpness of observation and amused cynicism of a political insider... raunchy, clever and melancholy" - Matthew Parris on Robert Pimm's novel "Sex and the Summit".

Robert Pimm is a free-lance writer and journalist who lives in Vienna.

The "Hotel Stories" include "The Two Rooms", "The White Blouse", "Gents", "Britches" and "Too Cool to be Corporate". All are available on Amazon individually; or - best value - collected together in "Hotel The Complete Collection".

Hello and welcome to my author page. My real name is Leigh Turner, but from 2014-2021, when I was British Consul-General in Istanbul and British Ambassador to Austria, I wrote under the pen-name Robert Pimm.

My top priority is my new Istanbul thriller, "Palladium", to be published by Immortal Works press in May 2022. I am working on a lighthearted handbook, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to Diplomacy", to be published in autumn 2022 or spring 2023.

A diplomat since 1983, I started my first novel in 1986 in Vienna. One night, my girlfriend was late for a date. While I waited, I had an idea for a story which later turned into my first novel, "Eternal Life" (published under the name Leigh Turner). When I lived in Moscow 1992-5 a writer told me to "write about what you know" and I wrote a thriller set in Russia.

Later, in Berlin, I took four years off to look after my two children. An editor at the Financial Times said "man at home - a great source of copy" and invited me to write about my experiences. You can find the results at my rleighturner.com blog under the "Existential & Women" and "Journalism" categories.

Writing for the FT encouraged me to try another thriller - set in Berlin - which became "Blood Summit. I love reading thrillers, from Lee Child and Michael Connelly through John le Carre to Robert Harris, Stella Rimington and Graham Greene. But I also adore Anthony Trollope, Barbara Atwood and P G Wodehouse.

When I worked in Ukraine, I met my partner, who is a senior hotel manager. I wanted to think of an original birthday present. I gave her a "Hotel Story" about glamorous, petite hotel manager, Ms N, and her ally, the beautiful but naive Tatiana, who will not tolerate misbehaviour by men.

The response was favourable. Phew! So I produced another story, precisely one year later, and kept on doing so. So far, I have written eleven Hotel Stories. The first seven years' worth appear in "Seven Hotel Stories".

You can read more about all this, including excerpts from all the Hotel Stories and the novels, at my rleighturner.com website.

If you feel like sampling my writing, I'll be delighted. Have fun, and do let me know what you think.
