This book had me sitting there like “WAIT… I KNOW YOU LYING.”

What I loved most about Book 2 is that it actually starts giving answers to things from Book 1 while still keeping the mystery alive. Every time I thought I understood something, another clue would drop and completely change how I looked at everything.

Alaina was honestly one of my favorite parts of this book. I loved how determined she was to find answers and how much snooping and investigating she did this time around. She’s not just standing around waiting for things to happens.. she’s actively putting pieces together, noticing patterns, and getting closer to the truth herself. Watching her connect clues made the story even more addictive.

I also loved the mystery elements in this book. The codes, the hidden meanings, the clues she had to figure out.. it made me feel like I was solving everything alongside her. This series really rewards readers who pay attention because little details actually matter.

And that work trip??
Yeah… the tension, the emotions, the chaos of certain moments without spoiling anything—it had me stressed in the best way.

This book definitely confirmed some suspicions I already had about certain characters too, and now I’m side-eyeing people even harder going into the next book.

What I really appreciate is that the story doesn’t leave things feeling pointless. The clues are starting to come together in a way that feels intentional, like every piece is leading somewhere bigger. Nothing feels forgotten or randomly thrown in.

Overall, this did exactly what a second book in a series is supposed to do: give answers, raise even bigger questions, and leave you desperate for the next book immediately.

NOW THIS… this is what I was waiting for.

The way everything started unraveling in this book had me completely hooked. Every time I turned a page, I was sitting there like wait a minute… because every reveal just kept leading to something bigger. I genuinely could not put this book down.

One thing I loved most was finally seeing more pieces connect from earlier in the story. Watching Alaina uncover secrets, investigate things herself, and slowly get closer to the truth made this book so addictive. The mystery aspect was done SO well because every clue actually feels important.

And the gala/auction scene??
Chef’s kiss.
The tension in that entire scene was insane. Miguel absolutely ate during the auction, and the energy between him and Sebastian had me stressed in the best way possible. You could feel the tension through the pages.

I also really loved the Georgia scenes and learning more about Alaina’s family and roots. Those moments added so much depth to the story while still pushing the mystery forward. Some of the things she discovers back home honestly changed how I looked at everything.

And the vacation with Miguel??
Yeah… let’s just say the billionaire treatment was billionaire treatment. The shopping, the Birkin bags, the tension, the chemistry—exactly what I wanted.

Another thing I appreciated was the character development. The characters actually feel layered and human, and you can see growth happening instead of everyone staying the same the entire book. I especially loved that Alaina doesn’t act helpless or clueless. She pays attention, asks questions, investigates, and puts things together herself. So many books make the female main character seem lost or completely dependent on everybody around her, and I loved that this series didn’t do that.

This book also had me side-eyeing certain characters a LOT more. There were multiple moments where I started questioning people’s intentions, and I know I’m not imagining it.

I will say there were moments where I wanted to yell at Alaina for running off and trying to handle things alone because GIRL… LOOK WHAT HAPPENED 😭 Half the time everybody was searching for her while Miguel was basically losing his mind.

But honestly? That’s part of what made this book so entertaining. The suspense, the tension, the emotional moments, the clues, the reveals—it all kept building until the very end. This book did exactly what a second book should do: answer questions while making you desperate for the next one immediately.

I literally had to sit there for a minute.

That ending??
Yeah. I’m still thinking about it.

The way everything builds up and then drops you right there at the end had me like—wait… what did she just figure out? And the fact that it cuts off right when something major clicks?? I wasn’t ready.

What I really loved about this book is Alaina herself. She’s not just going along with things—she’s thinking, questioning, and putting pieces together on her own. You can actually see her mind working, and it makes the mystery feel so much deeper.

One of my favorite parts was when she went back home to Georgia. It slowed things down in the best way and gave a different side of her life. It wasn’t just calm for no reason either—there were real moments there that added to the story and revealed things that actually matter later. That whole section made everything feel more personal.

I also loved how this book leans into the mystery. The clues, the way things connect, the moments where you feel like you’re figuring it out with her—it keeps you locked in. Nothing feels random. Everything feels like it’s leading somewhere bigger.

And the aesthetic? The private jet, the luxury, the shopping, the whole billionaire vibe… yeah, I loved that too. It balanced the tension really well and added another layer to the story.

What makes this book stand out is that it gives you just enough. You get answers, but not everything. It leaves you thinking, questioning, and trying to piece things together yourself after you finish.

And now I’m sitting here trying to figure out what everything means… and side-eyeing certain people a little differently. I don’t want to give away any spoilers so I’m going to keep that to myself.

I definitely need Book 3.
