I will be honest and admit that while I enjoyed the first book in the Texas Kings series, I wasn't wholly blown away by it. But there was something about the authors writing style that I liked, so I decided to give the second book Cowboy Take Me Away a chance. And I am glad I did, as Chase and Hope's second chance reconnection really ticked every one of my required romance boxes.
"Nothing beats the truth."
The author stuck to tried and tested tropes with this one, and although the storyline was totally predictable, I really enjoyed this book. Chase King like his brothers Nate and Ryder has a little something special for a girl to get her teeth into, and I liked that Hope was a strong and established woman in her own right. Both aren't certain that they are looking for a relationship, but neither of them can deny that the chemistry between them is just as strong as it was when they were last together five years ago. But Hope now has responsibilities, responsibilities that could change the whole course of their relationship once Chase finds out the full truth.
"I've never mistaken you for a one-nighter, Hope, that's why I've always been waiting for a rematch."
I am glad I stuck with this series now, as this book really was the perfect low-drama, romantic read for me. I am eagerly looking forward to Nate's story; I Knew You Were Trouble, due for release in June 2016, the final King to meet his match, although I get the feeling this one may be a bit of a tugger on the emotions with granddad's health being what it is.

Lane is a new author to me and I really enjoyed reading this book. Although this is the second book in this series I wasn't lost or felt like I was missing something. I do want to read the first book to get caught up on the King men.
This book is basically about second chance love. Chase and Hope went to college together and they bonded over coming from wealthy ranchers. They become close and really good friends. The day they graduated they ended up drinking too much and sleeping together. Then went there separate ways.
Now four years later they run into each other and Chase wants to get to know Hope all over again but there is a big secret that comes out and now Chase has to decide if he can get past the hurt and betrayal.
I really liked the story and the characters. I enjoyed that these two knew each other before but now they are learning who they are now.
I thought Lane did an excellent job in telling there story and having the romance between them go slow. The build up of what was going to happen and if they could make it work was the best part.
I loved Chase's brothers and how close they were. There was some funny banter and they were an excellent team when they are together. They also gave some good advice to one another which only made me love them more.
I can't wait for the next book!! This is definitely worth reading if you love cowboys and second chance love stories!
I love how Lane can tug at my heart while also creating a hot and sassy story that keeps my attention. Lane takes readers back to the world of the Kings in an unforgettable and larger than life manner. The way that she melds chance and circumstance with everyday life to create a whole that can easily be remembered. It was also one that I found myself getting lost in.
I enjoyed getting to know the characters as I reconnected with one another. The gradual discovery of different aspects of their personalities and their history was a whole lot of fun. It made for some very realistic (and absolutely loveable) characters.
This was a fantastic addition to Lane’s Kings Series & a great read on its own. I’d recommend it to western romance lovers worldwide.

Lordy Lordy Lordy! Chase King? Where can I find me one of those?!
This book was fantastic and I didn't want to put it down. I was able to connect with the characters and feel their emotions as everything was unfolding.
This was actually the second book of this series and even though I haven't read the first, it still makes complete sense and doesn't make you feel like you're missing anything. That said, I'll damned sure be reading the first one. Those King boys? Mmmmm mmmmm!
I think I loved Chases character more than Hopes, he was so playful and sexy yet strong and fiercely protective. Everything a damned good man, cowboy or not, should be. At least in all our womanly dreams right?
I loved how he and Hope instantly reconnected after five years apart with no contact since college. It showed what a great friendship they had and that some people, no matter how much distance or time has passed will always be great friends.
The fact that she's a single Mum and doing things herself and not trying to bludge money off anyone shows what strong character she has and how much of an independent woman she can be even when she feels like it's all going to hell.
As for Chase, his strong family values and connection with his brothers, sister in law, grandad and Mrs T, show how dedicated he is to his family and his ranch. A proper southern gentleman.
I really enjoyed the secondary characters of Ryder and Nate, Chloe and Clay and of course little Harrison. Even though they didn't feature as much in the book they fit right in and were written well in the storyline. Especially all the cheeky King brothers moments.
A fun quick read, this one has the emotions flowing - love, laughter, angst, hope, you name it's probably in there.
I'd definitely recommend this to lovers of romance novels that include sexy southern cowboys and reuniting friends who count each other as the ones that got away.
Cowboy Take Me Away was a very enjoyable second chance love story. The storyline held my interest until the end, the characters were likable and entertaining.
While I enjoyed watching Hope and Chase get their second chance at love, the relationship between the King brothers was the highlight for me. It added to my overall enjoyment, loved their banter and friendship.
Looking forward to Nate's book next, can't wait to meet the woman that will win this hardasses heart. Nate's brothers are going to love paying him out after all the sh*t stirring he put them through lol
Thank you St. Martin's Press via NetGalley for the advance copy.
A wonderful story about a chance at love a second time. Hope a veterinarian cannot believe that Chase is better looking now than years ago. But will the single mother give her heart to this man. Chase thinks she is the one who has always been the girl or women that has gotten away, and now believes that there is a reason that she has come back into his life and he will do everything to make sure she stays in his life this time. A very good story. About two people finding love again but one of them Hope is extremely guarded. Not just for her daughter but for her heart as well. Can Chase break down those walls and make it through? Read this good story and find out. I got this book From Net Galley.com I gave it 4 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

Cowboy Take Me Away is the second book in the Texas Kings series from author Soraya Lane and turns the spotlight on the middle King brother, Chase, and his college best friend turned one-time bed partner, Hope Walker. This was a friends to lovers story slash second chance romance and one that I enjoyed quite a bit. When Chase and Hope part ways after their one night together, they barely keep in touch and it isn't until five years have passed that they see each other again. It turns out that the whole time they were friends, they both felt an intense attraction to one another but didn't really pursue said attraction until their last night together in school. It turns out, that single night changes their lives, albeit later for Chase.
I really liked Chase and Hope and the way their relationship played out in the story. It didn't feel rushed, even though there were five years of what they believe were unrequited feelings. Neither of them was really pining away for the other, continuing to lead separate lives because that's simply how things worked out for them the first time around. They were both honest with one another, not counting Hope's secret, and even after the secret is revealed, Chase's reaction toward what Hope did and what he was going to do after learning the truth felt real and normal rather than overly idealistic. The secret doesn't necessarily cause problems, but it does force of them to re-evaluate and take a long, hard look at what they truly want.
The Devil Wears Spurs was a good series starter and it was nice seeing where Ryder and Chloe King were in their relationship, but Cowboy Take Me Away brought things up a notch. We also get a bit of a better look at the eldest King brother, Nate, and I'm definitely looking forward to reading his story next year, especially since the guy deserves the same kind of happily-ever-after his two brothers have received. I loved how the series highlights the relationship the three brothers share and how they've been able to overcome having the kind of father they did, all thanks to their grandfather, Clay King. This was a lighthearted romance that was both a fun and touching read. I'm giving Cowboy Take Me Away 4.5 stars, rounded off to five stars for Goodreads. ♥
This is one author that can hold your attention as she takes you away by building an outstanding plot that will almost bring you to tears. Hope and Chase have some major history that goes back to their college days. These two were the best of buds until graduation. On this one night where things got out of hand with one fun filled night where they burned the sheets up. When Chase wake up in the morning she was gone never to be seen or heard from again until Chase sees a woman get out of the vets truck...no it couldn't be....lord have mercy she hasn't changed a bit. She is still as beautiful and hot as ever. She may have got away once but he is hot on her trail now.
I loved these characters! Hope don't take any crap she believes in standing on her own two feet. She has had a wonderful life with wonderful parents, she comes from money but she is down to earth. She is a woman you can relate to and some will have been in her shoes in some way or other. Chase might come from money and have all the nice things but he is just a good old cowboy chasing anything in a skirt. Some things never change as Hope finds out. You can really feel the passion between these two there is no doubt they are tip toeing around how they truly feel. Things are about to get hot as one chases and the other runs.
The author spins a tale of passion, lost, need and wonder as she takes you through why Chase is the way he is. He has a hard time trusting it seems women are only after his money that is all but Hope she never was. He never understood why she walked away he misses his best bud. Hope refused to be another notch on his belt. Friends was good enough for her but she does hide a few secrets which just might surprise one cowboy. These two must learn to deal with the here and now as well as their past before they can come together and work out a future when they have a HEA.
I enjoyed the first book in this series but not as much as I have this one. The author kept me laughing and smiling as well as had me almost in tears a time or two. This is one book where you will feel the characters pain as you relate to them all. The author brings back characters from the last book so you can see how things have changed. She gives you wonderful supporting characters that are just full of themselves. There wasn't anything I didn't like about this book. If you want a good old fashion cowboy story that you will have trouble putting down this is one you should give a read.
This NetGalley reviewer is feeling a little conflicted on how to rate this one, my fellow romance alpha cowboy book-loving friends. I simply can’t shake the feeling that Hope and Chase both needed to be taken away to the proverbial wood shed or at least behind the barn and given a stern talking to. Why do you ask? Well, let’s just say, if I wore a cowboy hat I would take it off right now, hold it over my heart, bow my head and shake it in disbelief over the decisions these two made in the past.
When they were in college, Chase’s main hobby was chasing girls…and catching/releasing them after one night. Though he now claims he loved Hope the whole time, he sure had a funny way of showing it. Here’s a heads up, cowboy. Actions speak louder than words. No self-respecting female is going to take seriously anything you say when you are flaunting your revolving door of conquests in front of her. Of course, she isn’t going to ask you to make any type of long term commitment.
Hope, what were you thinking? For a smart college grad, how could you possibly think the guy you duped into marrying wouldn’t figure out the secret you carried? Especially since you were four months/belly deep in that big sinkhole of deception. But the real reason you should hang your head in shame is the fact you would do that to any man. Frankly, you deserved him being a money grabbing scoundrel.
So, folks, I have to admit I found myself thinking they definitely deserved each other. Dumb and dumber kept coming to mind as this story unfolded. Fortunately, the author’s writing style keep me interested enough to actually want these two knuckle heads to ride off into the sunset. Thank you, Ms. Lane for not making it overly country. There were no “yee-haws” here or overly done Texas antics. She made you genuinely like and care for all the characters. I would love the opportunity to read Book 1 and look forward to Book 3, which hopefully will be Nate’s HEA.

"Cowboy Take Me Away" by Soraya Lane
My Thoughts....
I liked this well written novel that dealt with a sweet romance. I liked this author's novels and wanted to see what was 'Cowboy Take Me Away.' There will be a lot of question asked as the reader reads through 'Cowboy Take Me Away.' Like... Who knew that after one night of passion and now many years later these two Hope Walker and Chase King would meet back up again. What affect will this meeting have on these two especially after a big secret comes out that had been kept from Chase? Now, this will not be the only thing but what other complications will their be for these two especially when a 'special high quality sperm' has come up missing from Kinds Ranch Herd? Who is behind all of this? This will be one interesting read as the reader will see how this author gives the readers a wonderful well written story. Will these two be able to solve this plot as it unfolds for the both of them? How will these two make it through as this family's amazing journey begins? Now, to get all of these questions answered and a lot more you will have to pick up this good read to see how well this author tells it so well to the readers.Would I recommend this heart warming love story? YES!
I received a copy through NOR in exchange for an honest review.
This is my first book by Soraya Lane. I thought it was a good second chance romance but it was predictable. Hope and Chase were best friends in college. Chase is a hot cowboy who is also sweet and runs a ranch. Hope is now a single mom who has worked for a good career to support her and her son. Throughout the book, Hope kept saying how young she was after her night with Chase. I thought she was like 17/18 years old but she was 26 so that was odd to me because she was old enough to know better. I just didn't love it. Overall I gave it 3 stars.
On the whole I found this an okay second chance read, but I would have liked it a lot more if I hadn’t had so many problems with Hope’s behaviour. I could understand why she ran scared from Chase after their night together. She was his best friend at the time and had a front row seat of his manwhore years, so she panicked over ruining their friendship and legged it back home to Canada.
Fine, okay, that I can understand. It’s what follows that irritated me so much. Firstly, he tried to get back into contact with some text and emails – which she ignored. Because she didn’t want to seem desperate and needy and she’d rather he’d just gone after her. Without any encouragement from her, might I add. And she’s also twenty six, not sixteen. She often refers to herself as having been really young then, as if that will absolve her behaviour, except twenty six isn’t really young. She’s old enough to have known better.
Which brings us to the lie.
Sadly, there was nothing else in the book that helped me get past Hope and all she did. Chase is an all right hero, but he didn’t bowl me over, his brothers were quite fun and I liked the way they’d organised their lives to be close yet separate. The storyline is a bit predictable, but I usually like this kind of book and am almost always on the woman’s side. Not this time. This time it just irritated me and stopped me enjoying the rest.
Sorry, this one didn’t work for me.
(I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.)
This was a sweet read. Chase and Hope were quite sweet on one another, and stubborn as the cows they were working on. Their denial was hard to take at times and I wanted to smack 'em upside the head and tell them to just make up already but after a harrowing chapter of anger and disbelief everything fell into place. I'm not sure I could do what Hope did in the past but I hope to hold strong like her in the belief that everything works out in the end. Hope, Chase, and little Harrison (who was downright precious) get their specially tailored, cowboy fairytale ending.
The only real problem I had with this book was that the brothers were so close that when they were together and speaking I had trouble telling them apart. That's not necessarily a bad thing but I had to constantly go over who said what in group scenes and that takes some of the beauty out of the book for me. Especially in the beginning when I was just getting to know our new characters.
Even so I found the quality of each character to be well fitting once I could differentiate them (the brothers) apart. Chase was protective and flirty, downright sexy and breathtaking with his antics , his charisma and daring seem to have no holds barred except when it comes to Hope when he becomes less sure what he should do. Hope is brilliant, focused, playful, but unsure of her footing when it comes to how she feels about both Chase and the decisions she's made in the past. Hope on the other hand may not have been flustered in college but their reunion is constantly marked by her passion and love. She reminds herself she's a mom and is both guilty and resolved to keep the truth from Chase. Her resolve hurts me but I understand, I do, some people just aren't meant to be fathers when the time comes and her choice may have been valid. I'm just glad it all worked out in the end and just wished they'd trusted each other with their feelings in the beginning but then there would not have been this intriguing book to read! Haha!
This is the second installment in the Texas Kings series and it was just a wonderful read. It was captivating and it had everything that I love in a story. I loved seeing Ryder and Chloe again and seeing that they are happy and just enjoying their marriage. I know next will be Nate and it’s time for him to fall in love.
Hope Walker and Chase King had a night of intense passion right after graduation. It’s been four years since they last seen each other and they both still think about each other. They both loved each other but they were never able to tell each other how they truly felt. Now here she is looking at Chase and her heart can’t stop pounding. Chase can’t believe that the person that Nate hired is his Hope and he knows that he needs to have her once again. She is the woman that got away but it’s going to take some time for him to convince her that he loved her in college. He did what he did because he couldn’t have her. Hope wanted him back then and she wants him now but a secret is keeping her from him. She knows that she is going to have to tell him but she is scared. She is scared because her heart was already broken once and now it will be ripped out of her chest if he doesn’t forgive her.
Cowboy Take Me Away was an awesome read. I loved seeing these two characters find their way together. This secret is going to tear them apart and they are both going to have to talk calmly and like adults. Chase is this charming, funny guy that jut pulled at my heart. Then there is Hope an amazing, smart woman just trying to make a living. She lost everything because she trusted her ex-husband but in the end she could have the fairy tale ending if only she didn’t run away. Ms. Lane’s writing is brilliant and I love how everything just comes together. The chemistry between them is sizzling HOT and they were meant for each other.
I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

4.5 Stars COWBOY TAKE ME AWAY is the second book in the Texas Kings series by Soraya Lane. I loved the first book, and I love this one just as much. Chase King…. just WOW! He is the hottest of the hot cowboys! Hope Walker is a strong heroine who has gone through so much, but perseveres - though she has chinks in her armor. She has lost so much in a very short time and is just trying to recover and rebuild her life when she runs into Chase King’s larger than life persona. It is SO much fun to watch this relationship progress – and the banter between them is funny and real. Their chemistry is palpable. They were best friends in college and haven’t seen each other in five years. A LOT can change in that amount of time.
I loved it! With a buttoned-up heroine and a too-hot-for-his-own-good hero, Soraya Lane creates a charming love story that’s equal parts sweet and sexy. It’s a whirlwind love story that leaves you wanting more of both Chase and Hope. It was also fun to catch up with Ryder and Chloe from THE DEVIL WEARS SPURS (the first book in the series).
Soraya Lane writes with a masterful balance of cutting wit and realistic dialogue. Her characters are a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the power that love has to heal even the deepest wounds. Chase and Hope’s intense connection and fiercely passionate romance keeps the pages turning at a fast pace and leave you with a warm satisfied feeling at the end. Deliciously romantic and often heartbreaking, this is a book that you will remember. I didn’t want it to end. It’s a great read with just the right touch of heat and suspense to it. I’m eager to read Nate’s story. I highly recommend!

I've never read anything from Soraya Lane. She's one of those new-to-me authors that I only discover through NetGalley. When I was offered an ARC of this book by the publisher, I didn't hesitate to read it because the blurb sounded like it was a really good read. Of course, I also love me some cowboys, and I think I haven't read enough ranchers this year, so I added this to my list.
All in all, this book was a solid read. I really liked the story. I liked that the main characters have always had this tension even when they were just friends back in college. I love the restraint they showed. In a place where everyone is like hormones on the loose, they were able to keep their hands off each other. It showed me how much respect they had for their friendship and for each other. What happened after that was a tragedy that wasn't just the fault of one person. Yes, the heroine may have done the bigger transgression, but it's pretty clear that the hero had his shortcomings too. Their story and the way the author resolved it was enjoyable to read.
What I did have an issue with was that the heroine was supposed to be a woman who knew how to work on what she wanted. She was said to be purposeful, determined, and stable. However, I keep seeing her as someone who prefers to have the hero read her mind instead of saying what she means and wants. If the hero didn't have brothers who made sense, I don't think this story would be just as good. I just didn't like how the heroine always left things up to the hero. She couldn't just tell things straight to his face. I won't elaborate on the scenes that I'm talking, but it happens more than once. Anyway, again, this is still a good book even if I'm not a fan of the heroine. I haven't read the first book, but maybe I will when the third book is also already out.
Chase King owns and operates, along with his brothers, the King Ranch in Texas. The King Ranch is one of the wealthiest ranches in the entire state and Chase has an idea that will only make it prosper more but he needs the help of a good veterinarian. Going through a company he hires one of the best, Hope Walker. The only problem is that Hope Walker is none other than the same girl that he lusted after the entire time that they were in college. The used to be best friends but on the last night of college, one amazing night together, they both went their separate ways though. Hope back home to Canada who got married and had a baby and Chase went back home to Texas to help run his Grandfather’s Ranch but they didn’t stay in touch. Now five years later, fate brings them back together but will Hopes secret tare them apart or will the friendship and closeness that they had together in college be the tie that binds them back together once again?
This was the second book in the series and while it could be read as a stand-alone, the series is truly a really good one. If you start the series with the second book, you will miss Chloe and Ryder’s story who are in this book as well. It doesn’t take rocket science to figure out where the story line was going but it was a great read and you can’t help but to fall in love with all of the characters. I really enjoy Ms. Lane’s writing style and the way that her characters are written. I was given an ARC from St. Martin’s Press through Netgally in return for an honest review.
I enjoyed the first book in this series by Soraya Lane but may have liked Cowboy Take Me Away even more. Second chances are always a favorite of mine especially if they are well done, Cowboy Take Me Away is very well done. On top of that Chase and Hope had started out as best friends in college so this story has all the past connections between main characters that works for me.
Chase is still a cocky King but I liked him just the same. At heart, he is a good, hardworking, easy on the eyes man. Hope is very vulnerable when she sees Chase again after their college graduation. While having made questionable decisions and suffered for it, I still liked her. These two work well together with their friendship and hot chemistry, so the secret was really a major WOW in the story.
The plot is solid with secrets, misgivings, and ranch sabotage. The King family stands together through the ranch problems and Chase’s personal problems. I like how they are such a close family with the competition being in running or sports, not trying to take control of the ranch from each other. Then I just love their grandfather. (I see Charlton Heston as him every time he is in a scene.) When problems occur this family pulls together. The family unity is a major plus for me in making these series work.
I am sure that fans of Melissa Cutler, Liz Talley and Cynthia D'Alba would enjoy this series as much as I have. Even though Cowboy Take Me Away stand well on its own, if you read one of the King men’s stories you will want to read them all.
Copy provided by the publisher through Net Galley for an honest review.
Secrets are tricky things, they reveal themselves at the exact moment we least expect. Hope made a decision years ago, one that she doesn’t truly regret only the way that she handled that decision. She could have been smarter but she couldn’t go back and change it now.
The last person she’d expected to see again was Chase King. How could he be even sexier than the last time she saw him? And how was she supposed to work closely with him on his ranch knowing what she knew?
Chase was astounded to find Hope Walker at the ranch. The beautiful woman who he’d had one amazing night with – and then she disappeared without a trace. Well, the past was past but she was here now and he had no intention of letting her out of his sight again.
Cowboy Take Me Away is a second chance romance for Hope and Chase. They had friendship and passion once, in Chase’s mind they had the foundations already in place to build a relationship. Hope has other concerns, and her past is about to catch up with her.
I enjoyed this second story in the Texas Kings series very much. Hope and Chase have a passion and chemistry between them. Their relationship is believable, even when you might have to stretch a bit in parts. Life happens, and it’s not all rose gardens, ya know?
I would definitely recommend this one, and I’m looking forward to the next in the series.
*I received an e-ARC of Cowboy Take Me Away from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
Having read the first book in this series, I was looking forward to reading more about the sexy King Brothers. Chase is the brother that is full of himself. He does not lack in the self-esteem department and thinks very highly of himself. But, he is also works hard and is very good to those he loves. He was best friends with Hope in college, but they gave into their attraction before graduation and had one night together. Now, five years later, Hope is a vet who is hired to help Chase raise organic cattle. He thinks of her as the one that got away, even though she is divorced with a 4 year old son. Hope has a huge secret of her own that she is afraid to tell Chase.
This story is about love lost and found. I love this kind of story. I really like the connection and chemistry between Hope and Chase. She makes him be better and brings out a side of him that no one else gets to see. Meanwhile, the brothers and their competions with each other leave me laughing and wanting more of the family, together. But, as competitive as they are, they still band together to protect the ranch and never once try to outdo each other for control. It was fun to see Ryder and Chloe for a little bit, too.
The suspense worked out really well within this story. Not only was there the mystery of who stole the ranch’s sperm for the cattle, but Hope’s secret was also a suspenseful part of this book! I really did enjoy this book and can’t wait for the last brother, Nate’s, story to come next.
Cowboy Take Me Away by Soraya Lane is an excellent read for those who love a romance with sexy challenging characters that come to life. I choose this novel because the cover drew my eyes into reading what the story was about and then I was forever lured in. A deep complex plot like no other and irresistible scenes that will tug at readers hearts. Soraya Lane definitely knows how to leave her readers breathless and in suspense.
Cowboy Take Me Away is exactly that. One cowboy who got under one woman’s skin and has never once left her thoughts. Now, many years later, Hope Walker carries the greatest secret of all. How does one keep the fact that one very hot cowboy has a child. A child he’s never known about? But that’s not the only complication that heads into Hope’s and Chase King’s lap. Somebody stole the special high quality sperm for the King Ranch herd. But who? Chase has lived with the fact that he let go the one woman who means the world to him and now, she’s back and not only that but has a child too. Fate definitely has major plans for the two old lovers and it’s going to get a whole lot hotter and more exciting as the plot unfolds. Daring, bold, and beautifully well-written, Soraya Lane has brought together one unforgettable masterpiece that will stick with readers forever. I loved reading this romantic novel and following the family as their journey begins. I highly recommend this to readers worldwide and rate it a five out of five stars.
As many of my followers and friends know, I have a MASSIVE soft spot for Western Romances, unfortunately for me, Cowboy Take Me Away just didn't hit the mark. Especially when it's in the same genre as another book by the same title by an author that nailed it. It wasn't the characters, I liked them well enough, it was the story itself. It all fell flat and very cliche in places which not only disappointed me, but frustrated me to no end. When I pick up a Western Romance, be it on the sweet side or the sexy, I want to be impressed, I want to be dazzled, I want to be transported from my house in country NSW to the wild cattle country of Texas on the other side of the globe, but reading this book, it could've taken place at any of the cattle properties down the road. There was nothing that made it unique, that made it truly Texan and truly special in it's own right. I can say that I'll be keeping my eye out for the next book in this series, because I'm intrigued to see how Soraya Lane grows as an author, but I can safely say that with this being the first book of her's that I have read, I was definitely looking and expecting more.
Cowboy Take Me Away is book two in the Texas Kings series. I really liked watching Chase, a one-and-done player, work so hard to win the one girl he has loved for years but has never acknowledged even to himself. They met in college and she was the one and only girl to tell him no, and in that 'no' a strong friendship bloomed until one night after graduation, the two best friends gave into their passion, ruining their friendship. He hasn’t seen her in five years, so when she ends up being the AI sent to help him with his organic cattle endeavor he sees it as a second chance, but he isn’t sure what that second chance is or how far he wants to take things. She has loved him secretly since college and she hid her feelings very well. He never suspected even as he flirted and dated other girls all through their college career. But a consequence other than the loss of a friendship happened the night they gave into the passion and now she doesn’t know how to tell him that he is a father. When things are revealed, let’s just say it got ugly and tense. They had a lot to overcome and there were times I wasn’t sure how they would be able to move ahead and forgive past sins. I enjoyed their story. The conflict added an emotional tension to this story that kept me interested and it was hard to not read when I should have been working. I definitely liked book 2 better than book 1. I’m looking forward to Nate’s story next.
Hope is a single mum who has recently divorced leaving her in financial ruin. She works as a veterinarian and has grown up in the cowboy ranch lifestyle. She loves her child and her job. She takes a job sprawling cattle at a ranch which turns out to be owned by non-other than her best friend from college, Chase. They didn’t end on good terms and they haven’t spoken in years. He always was the perfect charmer but he seems to be still stuck in his bad boy ways. Hope isn’t looking for a man in her life or love. She has her son now and he is everything she ever wanted and more.
Chase has missed this old friend and wants to re-kindle their relationship but something seems to be holding Hope back. Chase is determined to get Hope where he wants her all he has to do is figure out what he wants.
This is a sweet romance with a twist (although it is quite obvious). This is the first of Texas King books I have read (Book 2) however it can be read as a standalone. Loved this book it is worth the full 5 stars out of 5 and I’m pretty confident the others will be just as good.
*An advanced copy of this book was given to me via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*
This has been one of the better books that I’ve read this year. The plot was well thought out, the added part of the chemistry between Chase and Hope were just the cherry on top of the cake.
Chase and Hope have history during their college years and after one hot night together they split apart but Hope becomes pregnant from that one night and takes away a secret baby back home. After years Hope comes back into the states, more specifically Texas and bumps into Chase again. Their old feelings towards each other begins again but with Chase finding out that she’s hid his son from him it breaks what little trust that they have between each other. I loved the chemistry between then. Once I picked this book up I couldn’t put it down until it ended. This was the second book in the series but it’s a good standalone work that you wouldn’t have needed to read the previous. The characters were well developed, the plot was outstanding and you just can’t help but fall for Chase and Hope. There are some really irresistible plot lines throughout the book that really tugs on your heart strings. I look forward to her other books.
