Spoilers.
Oof this one was frustrating. We have a book that has five men falling in love with the girl, but the girl is a wolf. Who can't communicate or talk to them in any way. So the five men are falling in love with an animal. Now I know to a certain extent they believe they are fated mates, but this whole book is love based on nothing. We answered the question of will men still pine after you if you never speak to them. Yes apparently.
Aside from that annoyance nothing happens in this book. We get the promising start of background at the facility and then *poof* no plot. Just the guys weirdly pining after an animal the whole book. We get a little stalking and issues from the alpha but they get resolved so fast the problem seems to fake.
Overall I think I could've gotten into this if she shifted around 30 percent, or hell I'll give you 50. But her not shifting until the end of the book? No thanks

An intense why choose shifter romance, following Cherry, a traumatised and abused wolf, as she escapes her captors and finds sanctuary with 5 alpha wolves. I loved their individual personalities, and how they all care for and protect Cherry.
There are multiple enemies and threats lurking, mystery and drama, and a slow burn building rh romance.
Loved this first book, can't wait for the next.

This could've been good if she shifted by the halfway point, but instead she shifted on one of the last pages. So what we are left with is 5 guys falling in love with a dog. Yes they know she's a shifter. No they can't have any real conversation or connection. Everything is hinging on a mate bond that hasn't even formed because.....you guessed it.....she hasn't shifted. The whole book is literally them treating her like a pet.....because she essentially is one. For. The. Whole. Book. You're telling me someone decided to write a why choose romance in which the main characters couldn't have a conversation AT ALL????? For 300 pages?????
Other than that we have a brainiac that jumps to allllll the right conclusions (how convenient), an asshole alpha of the pack (surprise!), and don't forget the bitchy bully blonde that wants the man (how cliche).
The only interesting aspect of this book was the experimental lab, and that plot line was forgotten about as soon as she escaped.

Shona Knight knows how to write a book, and the first installment in The Caged Wolf series starts with an absolute bang.
I loved everything about this book, the plot, the characters… it completely pulled me in from the very first page. Every character brought something to the story, and I was hooked the entire time.
I’m so grateful the next book releases so soon because I already need to know what happens next. I can’t wait to dive right back into this world!

3.5 ⭐️
First the pro’s:
- likable FMC
- good looking and likable MMC‘s even though their personalities were extremely unoriginal, and at this point are getting played out in the why-choose trope. But enjoyable nonetheless.
- interesting plot
- good writing
Now the con’s:
- the author making the in my opinion, huge mistake of having the FMC stay in her wolf form the entire book. Big mistake, huge! And that brings me to the second con.
- this is a huge con for me and I see many authors doing it nowadays. And that is basically writing one longer novel, but then chopping it into three so that they can sell it as a trilogy. And by doing so they make the three chopped up books, extremely drawn out and with a huge amount of boring filler. And unfortunately, this author did it with this book too. It was so drawn out that I found myself sometimes skimming and often bored. And that sucks so bad because otherwise everything about this book and this trilogy had the potential to be five stars for me because I love the plot and character so much. Authors are truly doing themselves a disservice by publishing books the way that they are.
- because the author basically made the FMC a pet dog to the MMC’s the entire book it was just boring for me. After 50% I was 100% ready for her to shift finally and it just never happened. That was a huge disappointment and because of that another con.

We get to know them because the author has each character tell us their backstory. But there is no real interaction between her and the men as adult humans. It’s just her again interacting with them as a wolf.
- I’m really upset by all of this to be honest. I was so looking forward to this because I love this author. And I haven’t had a good wolf shifter why-choose book in forever. And this book had so many ingredients that I just absolutely live for in books. But because of the cons mentioned, it just really took it down a lot of notches for me and that is frustrating.
- oh, and I almost forgot another con. Pretty much everything was very predictable to me. And I understand that this author isn’t trying to write a mystery book. But it was all pretty predictable and we all know that the animal sanctuary is not an actual animal sanctuary. And we pretty much can guess what it is which sucks. The only thing that I don’t fully get but even that I could almost predict is who Blaze is. It was just randomly thrown in there. And I can almost again predict what it is. And is anybody else predicting that her family isn’t really dead? I don’t know y’all it all just felt very predictable.

This was such a unique PNR! The FMC has been through true horrors and after finally escaping, she’s just trying to find a safe place. She was not expecting to encounter a pack of wolf shifters that would do anything to keep her safe!
My heart literally broke for Cherry, she’s been through so much but still found the strength to run. The mystery of who took her has me on the edge of my seat. The most unique aspect of this book is that Cherry is stuck in her wolf form and can’t communicate with the guys. It was really interesting to see their relationship form with no words needed. They truly helped her begin to heal.
There is zero spice in this book (obviously since she’s stuck in her shifted form, but I am sure it’s coming in the next book!)

Every time I pick up a Shona Knight book it hits everything I’ve been wanting or wanted. She hits the spot with her books every time.
I love Bound it was so good although I want to immediately dive into book 2 but we’ve gotta wait a tiny bit of time.
I love Cherry like all of the FMCs that Shona writes she is strong and a survivor which I love!
The men are tough scary men who are only soft for her which is amazing and I don’t currently have a favorite between Maddox Bain Gage Hunter and Chase so I’m excited to see if in the next few books that changes.

Super cheesy juvenile writing, stupid submissive damsel in distress, identical MMCs, instalove irritated a hell out of me. The only interesting - and presumably new for RH - thing is FMC being in her wolf form all the way down. Ok, it could be interesting but FMC behaves like a dog and MMCs treat her like a dog, so nothing's exciting here.

Shona Knight’s Bound marks her first foray into shifter romance, bringing her signature hurt/comfort dynamic into a new genre. Let me preface this by saying I really commend the effort here—the premise is strong, and Cherry is a genuinely interesting character.
All in all, this is a solid effort. The plot is thin, but I’m giving the author some grace because the foundation is definitely there. Despite my complaints, I still enjoyed it and will be seeing where Cherry and her Alphas go next.

Sweet Cherry finds unexpected kindness
Oh my gosh. My heart breaks for Cherry. This girl has had a terrible lot in life. As if having her family killed in front of her wasn't bad enough she is the experimented on for years. She was so young.
That was such a heart pounding escape at the begging of thus story and gave just a glimpse at what her life had been like. It's been years since she set foot outside.
Cherry is so strong and there is definitely something very special about her. I have a few ideas about what might be going on but every time I think I might be onto something we learned something new.
This was such an interesting way to get to know the characters. We don't know a lot about cherry since she has been in captivity and is now stuck in her wolf form. We obviously don't get a ton of chemistry but rather this intense protective need.
I did enjoy learning about each of the men and seeing how they each comfort and protect her. I love those first interactions and the way they are so slow and careful with her. She is so scared but these are such good men.
That ending though was definitely interesting. What exactly is happening right now? I'm definitely intrigue and wondering what is going to happen next. I mean it can't be easy since this is three books.

I have to say holy moly, this book is so good. Right from the get go I was hooked. Definitely mind your triggers and check them before reading. This starts out with my heartbreaking. Poor Cherry has been through so much at the facility she's at. The experiments and everything is just so cruel.
Cherry is a wolf shifter and decides to stay in her wolf form for fear of what the men will do to her in human form preferring to have things done in wolf form.
Things happen and she gets away and ends up running into five wolf shifters. She is scared at first because hasn't been around any obe besides the horrible people in so long.
Maddox, Bain, Gage, Hunter and Chase are surprised when they find a small wolf. They sense something with her like they need to protect her. When they realize she can't shift, they worry at what happened to her.
So much happens in this book with a pack alpha being shady, messages being left by a creepy stalker, and so much. Intrigued and could not put this down. Need the next one now! Great read.

I can't even begin to describe how much I love Bound! Are you kidding meeeee?! Ugh Shona Knight has really outdone herself with this reverse harem shifter romance novel! I fear I'm needing book 2 ASAP!

I CANNOT believe I have to wait for more!
So I normally don’t even start a series until after all books in the series are released, but I’ve been waiting for this one and just couldn’t help myself. I LOVED it!!! Shona Knight did beautifully on this one. The guys are just *chefs kiss*. I needed a break from MMCs being mean to the FMC and this book gave me everything I wanted with their gentleness and just overall need to do everything and be everything for her. Cherry was lovely and my heart breaks for her. I really can’t wait to see her blossom. Bravo, Ms. Knight! I can’t imagine it’s easy writing a book where the FMC doesn’t even speak to the men until the very end. It takes a level of detail and thoughtfulness to give her a voice when she’s voiceless and I am HERE for it. I seriously can’t wait until the next one and you best bet I’ll be unintentionally staying up until 3am trying to finish it like I did this one.

The first paranormal romance from Shona and what a good one it was! I was so invested in this story and the anticipation of finally meeting Cherry in her human form had me powering through this book in practically one sitting. Her story and past traumas were so heartbreaking and how Shona could make a wolf emote just shows you the power of her writing.
And the guys and their feelings for Cherry even as a wolf was just the sweetest thing ever. I’m dying to find out more about each of them. And after that ending book 2 can’t get here fast enough.

I cannot believe I’ve finished this and can’t read book 2 until end of next month ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Shona Knight really knows how to write a book. This was so entertaining and easy to read and stay engrossed in. Counting down the days until August 21st 😭

This was my first book by this author, and I'm looking forward to reading more.
This was such a sweet book. I was skeptical about five MMCs falling for an FMC who was trapped in her wolf form and couldn't even communicate, but somehow it works. It more than works.
The plotline isn't anything revolutionary. There are tons of books where an FMC escapes a lab and MMCs work to prevent her from being recaptured. It's the softness that makes this one special. We know the danger is still out there, but it's so cozy here in front of the fire.
I'm not the biggest fan of mate-bonds/ scent matches / soulmates in fiction, because it often takes the place of organic relationship building. The way the author used it in this book felt both smart and necessary. With the FMC unable to communicate, there had to be some kind of connection for the MMCS to feel so driven to protect her. But the bonds aren't used as a crutch. The relationships developed through nurturing and slowly-earned trust, and I love that!
This is a slow-burn - like glacially slow - but it couldn't work any other way. There's no spice, but there is tenderness and the kind of intimacy that comes from watching and learning, and eventually understanding. Of finally feeling safe after years of terror.
All the MMCs are sweethearts. I think Gage is my favorite, so far, because he interprets Cherry's silent communication so well, and comes the right conclusions. Tbf, it's always the intellectual for me. I really like Bain, also. The other three are no slouches, either.
I'm confused by Blaze. His use of her number would indicate he was a guard, but his scent pointed to him being a wolf. Cherry didn't know any of the other prisoners, but she wouldn't have had any admirers on the outside when she was taken at fourteen. Can't wait for this mystery to be solved.

Our mmc's are Maddox, Bain, Gage, Hunter and Chase. Maddox is head alpha and has such a grounding and protective presence about him. Bain is the pack's enforcer but doesn't say a lot except, he can't stop talking to Cherry and calling her sweet nicknames. Gage is quiet, kind, and the pack's researcher and wants to know everything about Cherry. Hunter and Chase are twins, they are more playful than their pack brothers however Hunter is very gentle and calming whereas Chase is a bit tougher than Hunter and his upbringing kind of hardened him in many ways but he is very sweet.
The plot was amazing as always. Cherry, as mentioned previously has been imprisoned for 10 years. To make matters worse, she is stuck in her wolf form and can't seem to switch back to her human self. The good thing is, she finally escapes and that's when she is found by The Silverstorm pack. Over several weeks, the men nurse her back to health and gain her trust but not all is as it seems you see because Cherry is very unique and once the men find out how special she is they stop at nothing to keep her gifts hidden. Oh and they also think she is their fated mate and are so obsessed with her.
That cliffhanger was insane and I need book 2 now, please and thank you. August 21st can't come quick enough. I have so many theories so I am really excited to see if any of them are correct.

Bound completely captivated me from beginning to end. Cherry's story is heartbreaking, and after everything she'd endured, I found myself immediately invested in her survival and desperate to see her finally find somewhere safe.
One of my favourite parts of the book was the emotional journey. Watching someone who had spent so many years surrounded by cruelty slowly begin to experience kindness again was incredibly rewarding. The five alpha wolf shifters never felt overbearing. Instead, their patience, protectiveness, and genuine care gave the story so much emotional weight. Every small moment where Cherry allowed herself to trust them felt significant because of everything she'd been through.
The romance was equally compelling. I loved the twist on the fated mates trope, especially since Cherry's connection to all five wolves shouldn't be possible. Rather than rushing the relationships, Shona Knight lets the trust develop naturally, making every interaction feel meaningful while adding another layer of mystery to the story.
What really kept me hooked, though, was that the book isn't just about the romance. The questions surrounding the facility, the horrifying experiments, and exactly what happened to Cherry kept me wanting answers just as much as I wanted to see the relationships develop. The blend of emotional healing, suspense, and paranormal romance made it difficult to put down.
Overall, Bound had everything I look for in this genre: emotionally engaging characters, protective love interests, plenty of tension, and a storyline that kept me turning the pages long into the night. That ending definitely left me desperate for the next book, and I can't wait to continue Cherry's journey.

I have to say, this is a different take on shifter romance and I like the approach. It’s really interesting to see fated mates interact when one of them can’t talk, but still understands everything.
There are a few issues though. First, why does this author have her FMCs endure hardship for so many years? I couldn’t read the deserted island diet because 15 years alone on the island was just ridiculous. Cherry has spent 10 years being tortured in the facility, starting when she was 14, and spent five years as a wolf. Would it really be that different she had been taken when she was 19 and spent three years a wolf? I don’t think so, and it wouldn’t be so hard to imagine her that reactions to the world make sense. Instead you have a woman who has never had any sexual experience or presumably any time of boyfriend who is suddenly lusting after these guys when they take their shirts off or chop wood. She didn’t have anyone to talk to in the facility, so her development would be arrested in some form or another. Instead, she mentally seems like someone in their mid-twenties.
Second, why have none of these guys considered she might have a tracking device in her? These seems like a massive oversight, especially from Gage. How else is Blaze finding her? I was also bummed we didn’t get more information on Kane’s motives.
Overall, it’s a cool concept that currently has a few holes. It will be interesting to see how the next book is handled.

This is a suspenseful paranormal why choose romance and it has appealed to the woman who loved paranormal and who wanted to combine her Team Edward, Team Jacob, Team Alcide all together into one delicious real life why choose. Except, this is all wolf shifters. And I was not sure whether I would love this, being I don't enjoy any romantasy reading, but this, THIS, I ABSOLUTELY ATE UP!!
So, if you are sitting on the fence, give the first part in this cliffhanger trilogy a try. (And Shona, you know I am hanging out for the next two books!!).
Cherry escapes literal hell, and is found by not one but five delicious men/wolf shifters, all alphas and are their own pack. All waiting for that fated mate. And there is so much more to their stories which are being told throughout. This book focuses on Cherry/Red who is still stuck in wolf form after escaping and it is so beautifully written showing each of her interactions with these different but equally protective men. Maddox, Hunter, Chase, Gage and Bain (FYI I have already marked Bain, Gage and Maddox) are fiercely protective of their little wolf.

I normally love Shona's works but this one was just meh. Not good but not bad. I loved the premise of her being stuck in her wolf form. I love the hurt/comfort that Shona writes so well.
Cherry has been held captive for the past 10 years, how she knows it's been 10 years is anyone's guess. She has been experimented on, tortured and almost sexually assaulted. She now stays in her wolf form to protect herself.
Finally, she escapes and runs into the 5 alphas. The men were different from what Shona normally writes but they also were kind of the same. You have the enforcer, you have the dominant alpha, the nerd, the goofball. They have alphas and betas in this world and all of the men are alphas and she is a beta. She doesn't know anything about why her parents kept her separate from other shifters and doesn't know ANYTHING about shifters besides for her family and her. This was mentioned REPEATEDLY.
For me this was a miss, because, spoiler, she never shifts until the very end! That means, there is NO dialogue between the FMC and MMC's, no spice whatsoever (thankfully). Because of the no dialogue they don't know what is happening with her. They just have to ask her the right questions. It just seemed kinda weird and the book progressed very slowly. You have the buildup of tension only for nothing to happen. I hope the next book will be better and we get some answers. I also hope they won't repeat so many times. There were a ton of repetitive phrasings in each chapter.

I saw the ad for this story on FB today and when I realized it was releases day I put down what I was currently reading and RAN to get it from KU. The premise looked so intriguing and the story did NOT disappoint.
After a decade of being experimented on, Cherry is stuck in wolf form and can't verbally communicate with the 5 men who find her. There's danger lurking with no way for Cherry to explain what she's gone through. They need to bond and get to know each other in other ways, and the result is we get a lot of affection, protectivness and caring as they navigate the barrier preventing them from taking anything further.
I actually loved that aspect of the story. It's going to make the next book all the more satisfying because I've been anticipating the guys getting to know her in her human form.
And the guys! I really like all of them. I think having so many chapters from their perspectives got me attached to each of them faster than I would be otherwise. I loved the varied POV and think it was especially important in a story like this where verbal conversation between the FMC and MMCs is one-sided.
The end leaves us on a cliffhanger, but while I'm excited to find out what happens, its not terrible as far as cliffhangers go. I can't wait for book 2 and will definitely be reading this one again before it come out.

Interesting Plot

For background I did read the novella, Captured, prior to reading Bound. Which I think actually impacted my rating here. I say that because in Captured, I was very interested in the story and I really enjoyed the characters that made up that harem wishing I could see more of them. And with the novella being less than 200 pages, you still saw a lot of world building; however, we saw the instalove which I wished we saw a longer story that would have reshaped that a little.
I share all that because while some reviews said Bound could have just been all done in one novel. So, I’m actually glad we have a trilogy with Cherry’s harem. I did like how we’re not seeing the same exact thing happen here as we did in Captured. I do like how there’s a lot of mystery happening with her being trapped in wolf form. Although I feel like there’s some stuff though happening that just is silly. Like it’s mentioned by the guys but they could have EASILY asked her for her name. Heck, in “Carnage Island” by Lexi C Foss that FMC is also trapped in wolf form and the three men are able to learn her name. But honestly, I hate the name Cherry and hope they just keep calling her by her nicknames at this point.
I do still have a lot of questions after the cliffhanger and cannot wait to see where the storyline goes next month when book 2 comes out.

I never was super into reverse harem, but only recently started tipping my toes in it. This is the first RH I've read that has more thant two MMCs. I was intrigued when I learned she was trapped in her wolf form and escaping from imprisonment. This poor poor girl has gone through so much. The book started out DARK. At first I was worried about reading about a timid / scardy cat FMC but this girl is rightfully the way she is. She *deserves* the mmcs to shower her with love. Despite her being afraid a lot, she's also self-sacrificing which I love about her. I love this FMC. And I love all the MMCs. They all treat her so sweetly, with tender care.
The FMC is in wolf form for the entire book. Despite that, it was such an intersting read! I consumed this whole book in less that 24 hours, and now I'm dying to read the last two books. I liked that because they didn't know her human appearance and she couldn't shift that this book wasn't overwhelmed with basic sexual thoughts. They cared about her for her, and nothing else. I'll be honest — shifter novels are usually not my thing. Trust Shona Knight to change my mind. I powered through this shifter novel in less than 24 hours and my only regret is that book 2 doesn’t come out until August.
If you've read anything by this author before, you already know she has a serious gift for writing MMCs that will absolutely make you swoon but the MMCs in this book might honestly be her best yet. Lucky for the FMC that she doesn’t have to choose!
You will want to cry for this FMC but will also want to cheer her on – I can’t wait to see how her character continues to develop throughout this series.
A heads up though — do yourself a favor and check the trigger warnings before diving in. There are some genuinely dark scenes in here, so go in prepared, especially if you are sensitive to harm to animals (it is a shifter novel after all).
