Edge of Shadow
Alexander made good on his promise.
The Conoku have been returned to their ancestral home. Evidence against Vaz-Mar has also been secured, giving the GKU leverage against one of the galaxy's most dangerous men.
And yet the Tau Arbiter Courts are absorbing the GKU, bit by methodical bit. Now Alexander is competing with his own people — as if keeping the galaxy safe wasn't hard enough before.
The First Sorcerer is still on the loose. His own nerves are betraying him. And the Barundi, among his staunchest allies, are coming together for the first time in their bizarre history.
It turns out the Eternum kept the feline warriors separated for a reason. When Mogŭl gather, more than mischief follows. Violent clans form, driven by murderous impulses not even Ban Tarro can reason with or outrun.
Struggling to piece together the scattered Antares Code, Alexander turns his attention to the fracturing Barundi. Can they find cohesion and common purpose? Or will the murder kitties destroy their people's chances before a homeland can even be found?

The GKU is being corrupted from the inside and Alex is losing limbs!
The nods to the Backyard Starship series continue as Perry gets a new body (but not yet the wings).
Paperwork, new rules and regulations are being enacted as the overthrow of the GKU from the inside continues by Tau Ceti and a shadowy Cabal. The search for Val-Marz continues and Alex's lack of DNA signals further problems. The Conoku on their home planet of Eln becomes a contentious issue as those attempting to take over the GKU try and coerce Alex into rescinding their return. The Sorcerers also make another devastating appearance...
Action, adventure, intrigue, double crosses, vital background of information on the Barundi and much more occurs in this entertaining novel and we eagerly await the next one.

Good writing but dry material
I have always liked the author's writing style but this series always manages to make everything a courtroom drama or media interview. All the tension in this series stems from committees and lawyers. Its getting very tiresome, unfortunately. I think 8 books will be as far as I can stomach it

Excellent series continues. Great fun but with serious story/plot going through.

I'm enjoying this series, and watching how it starts to fill in the history for the Backyard Starship Universe.
And I like Alexander Hawkes a lot.
