At 23, Maggie is raising her 9 year old brother, Asher, working at a restaurant, and attending college. Life changed dramatically when her parents died unexpectedly and the young woman who previously partied her way through college is now faced with staggering responsibilities. The sacrifices are worth it, though, because Maggie loves Ash fiercely and is determined to give him all the love and care they didn’t get from their parents.
Luke was born into privilege but that didn’t equate to a happy home. Life with a tyrannical and abusive father has forced him into the role of protector of his siblings. His own aspirations have been put on hold while he stays close to watch over his brother and sisters. He feels guilty for dreaming of so much more.
This was a truly enjoyable story of not just two people falling in love, but of two people finding their way despite past and present obstacles. Maggie is independent and determined and often stubborn to a fault. The possibility of a relationship with Luke had her both excited and cautious, since she was always conscious of her responsibility to Ash. Maggie could be a frustrating character at times. She ran hot and cold with Luke early in the story; one day completely open to a new relationship, the next shutting him out completely. But their relationship seemed to move at a totally believable pace and it was refreshing to see them navigate this new connection slowly (no insta-love!). And Asher. I admit I’m not usually a fan of novels where young children play a large role, but it was impossible not to love this kid. He was sweet and loving and I enjoyed every scene with Ash.
I really loved the alternating first person perspectives and it made for a fuller to story to understand both Maggie and Luke’s points of view. There were some descriptions seemed a bit clunky and ill-fitting but otherwise the narrative flowed well and it was easy to be pulled into the story. I really loved the secondary characters. Luke’s siblings, Maggie’s friends June and Janet, they all added so much to the story.
For the Love of Ash is a contemporary new adult romance that tackles so much more than *just* the romance. The love of family portrayed here is heartwarming and makes for such a rich story. I recommend this one to those who are looking for a contemporary romance with less fluff and more depth.

I've never written characters so complex and engaging before. Luke, Maggie, and Asher, in my humble opinion, are amazing people with great stories. They will reside in my heart for a long, long time, and I'm so sad their story is just one book long. Maggie is a strong female character, who I hope inspires you all. Luke, while he has his faults, don't get me wrong, means well, and at the root of him is a good man. And Asher, well, he's just the cutest kid ever with a passion so deep for ice hockey.
This book was one of my favorites to write. I hope you all love it, too!

When life hands you lemons you make lemonade and that is exactly what Maggie Larken did when she was left raising her nine year old brother.
Maggie and Asher Larken were trying to make a better life for themselves since now she has become someone's mom. Never did she had someone telling her how good she was so she was determined to show her grandmother that she could raise her now son.
Luke Wilson was a gym teacher, he had a plan but it seems that his plan was not going to happen anytime soon. His brother and sisters needed him from the monster. When he meets Maggie while taking college classes the last thing in his mind was the impact they both will have in each other's lives.
Maggie, Asher and Luke will take you to an emotional journey. Love, compassion, perseverance, loyalty, and respect are the key to this incredible and amazing love story.
You don't want to miss this beautiful book. I recommend for you to read it.

This book had the sweetest characters, Characters that had endured so much loss and pain. Maggie has to take over the care of her brother after the death their parents and she becomes the parent he is missing.
Luke is in a similar situation with his own family. The heart of these characters made for a lovely read. I enjoyed this and I was glad that I was asked to read this book. I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for a review. This book is really well written and a simple sweet story.

Josie's 4.5 Star Review
For the Love of Ash is such an emotional and uplifting story. Ms. Lavati has written a book that has very strong characters and it is well paced. I love it when you can tell that the author researched and created this story methodically. The details and build up were perfectly written. I was completely entertained and engrossed in this book and did not want to stop reading. I laughed, cried and screamed throughout this book, the struggles of these 3 characters are heart felt and believable.
Maggie is a character that I was so proud and inspired by. She and her 9 year old bother, Asher lost both their parents in a car accident. Maggie did not want to lose her brother so she stepped up to the plate to become his guardian. Let me explain my love for this young woman, it cannot be easy to be a sister one day and become a mother the next. She puts his needs before herself, takes care of him and makes sure he has a stable, strong and loving environment. She has times when she feels that she is not good at parenting but she never gives up and rises to the occasion. It is not easy for a young woman to take care of a young boy, the house, bills and herself but she never once complained. Asher was her life. Maggie no longer dates, her main goal is Asher and giving him a better life. Let me say it is not easy for her especially when she has a crazy grandma on her back, constantly trying to tear her down.
Luke is character that at first comes off as conceded and cocky, but that changes. He recently become the PE teacher at Asher’s school and is his teacher. Luke is also attending college and has a class with Maggie. As soon as they meet Luke sees something in Maggie that he wants. Luke’s character is nothing at all what I thought. Luke and his siblings live in a very violent home, he wants to protect them from their abusive fathers so instead of being on his own he stays home. I found that such an admirable and selfless quality. Luke has so many inner issues. He and his siblings have an amazing relationship, they support each other and help out when they need it.
Luke’s and Maggie’s relationship is a slow build up. Maggie is very cautious with her heart and what man will enter Asher’s life. Luke was relentless, he sees Maggie as a strong, funny and independent beautiful woman and wants to be a part of her and Asher’s life. For me the friendship and build up made me fall in love with them as a couple. It did not feel rushed or forced, it just felt natural. I really loved Luke’s relationship and connection with Asher.
For the Love of Ash is not your classic romance novel, it is much more. The book deals with issues such as child abuse, anger management, how to become a parent when you are young yourself, how to deal with the loss of parents and how much a person can and will sacrifice for love and family. Real life issues affect them and they have to find a way to navigate through them al. We all know how life has its way of surprising you. The books most redeeming points for me was the development of these great characters and how they genuinely matured and adjusted throughout the book. Another bonus for me was the epilogue, it was brilliantly written and gave readers everything that they would want to know later on in these characters lives.

For The Love of Ash was an amazing read, from the characters to the real life plot twists. There was a lot to follow, but it was easy to follow. The scenes in the book were described so well that I thought I was there experiencing what was happening with the characters.
Maggie amazes me. She gives up her life to take care of her brother after their parents died. She not only is his sister, but becomes a mother to her brother. She takes care of him and puts his needs before her own. She doubts her parenting abilities but shows she can handle everything life throws at her.
Luke cares for his siblings when he returns home from college to protect his younger siblings from their abusive father. There is some child abuse, but we don't see it happening, we see the child after the fact.
Luke and Maggie are much alike in more ways than one. They are both caring for their younger siblings and being a parental figure in their lives.
For the Love of Ash is a book I highly recommend. Its a page turner and an easy read. Its a single book so you can jump right in and enjoy it. I enjoyed the entire book and wished it didn't have to end. Everything was so real and interesting. I couldn't put the book down and i doubt you will be able to as well.

For the Love Of Ash is the First Book of Taylor Lavati that I read and I Loved It.
Maggi is a reformed Party Girl who used to Live her Life Carefree. She had a perfect Life, Beautiful Parents But Tragedy Strikes and her Life is Changed in One Moment. Her Parents are Dead and Responsibility of his Brother Luke comes on Her. She has to take care of her and her Younger Brother herself.
Luke also has the responsibility of Supporting his Siblings. He takes the Position of a Teacher and try to survive. Love was never in their Radar but Life has Other Plans for them. They Find Love in Each Other in a Beautiful Way.
I Cannot Recommend this Book Enough. Luke, Maggie and Asher Will take you on a rollercoaster Ride. You will Laugh, Cry and will fall in Love with them.

Loved this book. You know what marks the tell of an amazing story is when you catch yourself becoming emotional at the characters! I found myself feeling the hurt and support for maggie, and the frustration and adoration for Luke. I knew I would love this story within the first chapter, the character development was flawless, and I wanted to know more. I enjoyed every chapter, and look forward to more from Taylor.

Let me start this with:
I was pleasantly surprised with this book. There were parts that didn't quite read as full as some of my favorite authors (I don't really know how to explain that sentiment, just that at times, the writing felt off just a bit). I also felt that some of the things Asher did weren't really age-appropriate (sans the thumb sucking -- working with children, I'm fully aware how some revert due to stress), but while his big confession that causes the whole plot bang in the book wasn't what I would call a nine-year-old declaration, I understand the author's need to make him nine for the sake of everything else in the story. One other thing I was disappointed in? I wanted to know the man's tattoos! Sure, we get to know the clock, but I was super interested in the one on his neck/back...
Anywho.
After a car accident took their parents, Maggie becomes the sole guardian of her nine year old brother, Asher. Deciding that she needs to go back to school, Maggie settles the two of them into an apartment in a town she wants to get away from.
Growing up, Maggie was one of the "mean" girls. She smoked, drank, and often had negative things to say. However she is now a different person -- or so she tries.
Her one vice, I would say, would be she still smokes, because it's a stress reliever, much like her brother sucking his thumb -- something she wants him to kick, but their therapist says that it will go away in time.
Luke has lived a priveledged life -- on the outside.
Inside the walls of the family home, he and his five siblings have been parented by nannies, have a mother who ignores them, and a father who beats them. Much to the family's demise, he gave up the fast-track to being a lawyer, to be a gym teacher -- what he really wants in life is to help some child who was like him, who hadn't been helped and could have used it. And while he'd rather be anywhere but home, he takes a job at an elementary school nearby -- at least it's not the prep school his parents would rather he teach at.
The only reason he stays home is because he still has siblings living at home. When he sees a scratch on his sister Lilly's face, and she says that it was nothing, he'd just hit her because she was failing her summer college level course, Luke sees red.
Luke is very much a protective guy -- with his family, and then eventually with Asher and Maggie. His biggest fear is becoming his father, which no amount of damage could do because Luke is such a loving, giving person.
I rather enjoyed the slow progression of Maggie and Luke's romance. I liked that it started out bickering; I liked that he was intrigued by his classmate with the young son (even though he didn't take a moment to ponder the age difference). It was, however, unrealistically coincidental that on the very night he proclaims he's keeping his familial life to himself, Maggie gets a good wiff of it -- and yet, that night was not the driving part in the fall out of the story.
I most enjoyed the fact that Luke called her Sunshine the first day in class, then Sunny after, much to Maggie's distaste -- but the nickname grew on her. She is his sunshine; she is the brightness to his days. So the fact that Sunny stuck? Gah, I love it.
Annddd... que the epilogue reader-comment: my goodness, this epi was a good one. I love how much Luke loves Maggie, and I love what a great father figure he gives Asher. It's obviously a bit of a learning curve for Maggie and Luke to raise Asher, but I think they'll do just fine.
As I had not heard of Taylor Lavati pre-this tour, I'm curious as to what this book will bring forth. I'm rooting for a series, with Linds and Finn next? Yeah? Oh, yeah... I want stories for all those Wilson kids, but eventually I really want to see Liam's story. Granted, he's just a baby... he's got a good 8, 9, 10 years to grow up but I'd like to see his story, too.

I like seeing a character's growth; learning to be more responsible, not just for his/herself, but also the person/people they now hold accountability for. So how good was this book?

Like I've noted earlier, I have read a book whose heroine is similar to Maggie. It's titled 3volve, and I mentioned in my review of it how inspiring and eye-opening stories like these are. The situation Maggie and her little brother find themselves in is more common than people think. Same thing with Luke and his family; abusive and irresponsible parents who hides their rottenness behind prestige and luxury. I absolutely loved how Taylor talks about matters that are real and raw. Subjects that are heartbreaking, painful, but also uplifting, admiring, and inspiring. We are given a really solid and engaging story, with comp!ex and interesting characters, and a swoon-worthy love story. How can you not love a book like that?
For the Love of Ash is paced really well, in my opinion. The author took her time in nurturing her characters and letting them unravel properly. I didn't feel like some things were rushed, while other issues drag on, and that gives everything a sense of balance. Going back to the characters, I liked how they came to be. What do I mean? They didn't just come from out of the blue with no good purpose to the story, then they just vanish. I've encountered lots of books like that, especially ones with tons of characters introduced. It's like they can't keep up to what they started. Taylor Lavati didn't have that problem, so awesome job ma'am.
SUMMARY:
Whew! I have successfully written a review of For the Love of Ash without giving anything away, and I consider that a victory. I give this beautifully-written creation by a wonderfully talented author 5 stars. I look forward to reading more of Taylor's work.

We are given a really solid and engaging story, with comp!ex and interesting characters, and a swoon-worthy love story. How can you not love a book like that?
For the Love of Ash is paced really well, in my opinion. The author took her time in nurturing her characters and letting them unravel properly. I didn't feel like some things were rushed, while other issues drag on, and that gives everything a sense of balance. Going back to the characters, I liked how they came to be. What do I mean? They didn't just come from out of the blue with no good purpose to the story, then they just vanish. I've encountered lots of books like that, especially ones with tons of characters introduced. It's like they can't keep up to what they started. Taylor Lavati didn't have that problem, so awesome job ma'am.
SUMMARY:
Whew! I have successfully written a review of For the Love of Ash without giving anything away, and I consider that a victory. I give this beautifully-written creation by a wonderfully talented author 5 stars. I look forward to reading more of Taylor's work.

Maggie has taken full custody of her little brother Ash after their parents died. They have their ups and downs as Siblings do but they have so much love and compassion for each other. Maggie not only works but she also goes to college to become a teacher and there is where she meets Luke.
Luke comes from a family where mum is ignorant woman and the father is just mean beyond mean if I'm honest. He has sisters and a brother who help him and Maggie through a lot of problems. This is a MUST read for me the story line is constant and also makes me want to know about the friends and family members in this book and what happens with them.

He can't be a dad, he had a horrible upbringing with an abusive father who he doesn't want to turn out like. He ends up realizing that he can't live without Maggie and Asher. Can he get them back in his life after what he did?

I absolutely loved this book! It was so well written and easy to fall in love with. I read the entire thing in a matter of hours because I really couldn't put it down. I had to know what happened between Maggie and Luke. Taylor Lavati is an amazing writer and I look forward to reading more from her.
Maggie has become the guardian for her littler brother Asher after the death of both of their parents. She is trying to stop her grandmother from taking him away from her, while also juggling a job, college, Asher's school and hockey. Luke grew up in an abusive family, though he has a lot of big dreams for his life he can't abandon his siblings. Love was the last thing on either one of their minds but then they met. Though it was an instant attraction Maggie fought against her feelings. Will Luke be able to handle the fact that Maggie has a nine year old to care for? Or will that be too much for a twenty something year old man?
First of all I think it is amazing that Maggie would step up to the plate with Asher. There are so many people in the world that would have just let their Grandma take him away. She was even stronger for refusing to use the money they inherited from their parents. I probably would have been using my inheritance more, especially for college.
Luke was just as responsible when it came to protecting his siblings. He did everything he could to protect his brother and sisters from their dad. It was sick that their dad hit his children while their mom did nothing about it. Also why did no one tell the police? I wondered that the entire time. Kudos to Taylor Lavati for being able to write about an abusive father the way that she did.
Maggie and Luke were so perfect for each other! And I loved how well their families blended together. Maggie and Asher got along so well with Luke, Lily, Lindsey and Liam; it was like they belonged together. This was a beautiful book and I am so glad I got to read it. FOR THE LOVE OF ASH is a sweet, fantastic read. I loved reading this book, and following the lives of Asher and his sister Maggie. Asher now lives with his big sister Maggie after their parents were killed in a car crash. Asher is still dealing with the loss of losing them. Maggie does everything she can to take care of Asher, like taking off the weekends, and letting him join the local youth league hockey team. She works and continues to go to college so she can make a better life for her brother. Their parents were never their for them and Maggie does not want to take their dirty money, but she will use it for Asher. I really enjoyed this book.
The characters were believable and the writing was gripping!
The story of Maggie, her little brother Asher and Luke, the love interest.
Maggie is struggling with her situation. She has taken responsibility of her 9 year old brother Ash after their waste of space parents die. She is second guessing every decision. She loves Ash an insane amount and she does a fantastic job bringing him up, sadly a far better job than their own parents had with her or Ash.
Luke is in Maggie's classes at college and also has a part time job in Ash's school as a gym teacher.
Their paths cross and they struggle in their relationship, especially Maggie. She thinks her life doesn't have room for a relationship. She is under the impression that she should revolve her whole life around Ash.
Lots of drama in this book. Had me sad and anxious a few times.
Happy tears too.
Can't wait to read book 2.

I loved this book, the characters, the emotions and the flow of the whole book.
Maggie is faced with becoming a mother over night to her younger brother after the death of her parents and Maggie is terrified and doubts herself, but she steps and puts her needs on the back burner. Maggie meets very sexy Luke while taking some college classes and the connection is instant. Luke is in some like Maggie, he is having to step up and take care of his siblings from their abusive father. Neither one of them thought this would be their path in life, but it's a path that has brought two very strong people together as one big family. I loved how real this story was and I felt every feeling in the words. definitely a must read.

Function from dysfunction
This very well written story brings together three people from very dysfunctional backgrounds who eventually find love and family together. The characters of Luke, Maggie and her little brother Ash are portrayed well, and I admit I winced at the callous cruelty of various family members. How these good people could, even with therapy, overcome their upbringing to bond as a family is the only rather unrealistic part of this very touching story.
This very well written story brings together three people from very dysfunctional backgrounds who eventually find love and family together. This is my first book by Taylor Lavati and I loved it. Great author and cant wait to read more. At first I thought this book was gonna be a little to long but I was wrong . The length allowed for a well developed story . You get to know all of the characters a little and I enjoyed that. I loved the story of Luke and Maggie .it is great to read a book with a strong female lead . Maggie lived a wild life but changed for Asher. Luke always wanted to do more and change children's lives . Could they really help each other. This is a great book.

For the Love of Ash was a good read. Both Maggie and Luke have some family issues to deal with, but they end up being able to help each other with them. They have someone to help carry some of the burden which was nice.
Since Maggie's parents death she has been responsible for her kid brother, Asher. She used to be a mean girl in high school and party and just act out some, but now her priorities have changed. Asher is everything to her and she won't do anything to mess that up. She always puts his needs first. Really she doesn't have much of a life now outside of him. At the beginning of the book she really has a hard time trying to be a parent. She would feel guilty if she were to do something for herself, like go out with friends. She feels like she is an imposter and people will know if she doesn't focus 100% on Asher. It doesn't help that her grandmother is a nightmare.
Luke has some family troubles of his own. He is still living at his childhood home so he can try and keep his siblings safe. He feels responsible for them and doesn't want them to go through what he did. His parents are not very happy with his chosen career path, a teacher, but that is what will make him happy. If he can just help one struggling student, help one kid who needed it like he did, then it will be worth it.
Maggie first sees Luke on campus where she is taking some classes. She is attracted to him, but he is one of those really hot guy who she figures is a player. He is in her one class and she tries to keep him away, but it doesn't work so well. She cannot just sleep with random men anymore. She has Asher to think about.
Luke, however, doesn't let her get away that easy. He is Asher's phys ed teacher and he likes the kid. Asher is his helper, especially with the hockey lessons. There is just something about Maggie that makes Luke want to get to know her more. Really Luke was so sweet with both of them, talking with Asher when he is just hanging out at his moms work, helping him with his homework, etc. He is the sweetest so how could Maggie not fall for him? He was great.
This was a pretty sweet read. Luke was wonderful and Maggie was trying to work out some of her issues. When some things come up for Luke there are a few bumps, but they eventually work everything out. I liked that it wasn't always easy to fix everything, but if they worked at it they were able to.
There was one small thing that I didn't like as much, but it wasn't really that bad. Sometimes I felt like Maggie reacted strangely to things and she seemed a bit too much at times. Like in her one class she makes friends with someone who went to her high school. One day the girl alludes to the fact that she is now caring for her brother, so she asks the girl if she knows about her parents. When the girl replies yes she gathers her things and storms out of the room. It was like she was really angry that that girl knew what happened. It was a strange reaction in the scene and I didn't understand why she would do that. I didn't get it. I know she doesn't like to talk about what happened, she doesn't want anyone to know, but she still lives in a small town where people are bound to find out. It only happened once and a while this strange thinking. It didn't take away from the story much since it was only certain moments, but it was still there. It was a good read regardless and I enjoyed the story. Luke was amazing, Asher so sweet, and they all fit together perfectly.

I loved this book, so sweet <3 Luke and Maggie have both had to step into roles that they should have never had to but they did out of love for their family. This story was an excellent read minus the few grammar issues but totally worth it.

I absolutely loved this book! It was raw and emotional and so realistic when it comes to take care of your younger siblings. It is a standalone so you can just jump into it!!!! This book had so much romance and the characters were multi dimensional and all of the characters felt so real. The storyline has so much emotion, love, hope, and so much more…..
There was a lot to follow in this book but it was such an easy read. I read this book in just one day which I loved. This book was so vivid that it felt like you were experiencing everything with them! This book is about a twnty three year old Maggie who is now a mother to a nine year old who is also her brother. It was so nice to read why Ash would call her mom instead of Maggie, it made my heart constrict. I don’t know how Maggie could balance everything in her life with Ash, College and work but somehow she did it, and she did it wonderfully. the Last thing on her mind was romance but like always romance comes just out of the blue. She met this amazing swoon worthy guy at college but little did she know is that he is also Asher’s teacher at school.
Asher just radiates positivity and hope and he is one amazing kid that you can’t help but love. He is one kid that loves hockey and his teacher who he helps in classes.
Luke has the weight of he siblings on his shoulders. He moved back into his parents house to protect his siblings from their abusive father. Luke wanted to become a teacher and help those who are being abused by their parents he wants to show the children that they are loved and safe at school. Luke attends the same college as Maggie to finishe his education. Both Maggie and Luke wants to be teachers and these two have more in common than they realize. Both has a dysfunctional family life….. Luke has his farther and Maggie has her wicked grandmother who wants custody over Ash.
The moment Luke sees Maggie is the moment he is drawn to her but he does not know why. He spend all his time trying to break down her defenses and telling himself that he is not good enough father, because he fears he will be like his farther.These two have so much baggage and issues but they are perfect for each other. They did have ups and downs but we all know they are meant to be, even Ash knew about it. Ash is so sweet he help Luke with Maggie and the ending was so amazing I loved Luke and Ash work together making a plan to break down Maggie’s defenses.
I would highly recommend this book to everyone. To make a person care what will happen to the characters in an book is an amazing job. All the emotions I felt in this book was so genuine and I was sorry that I reached the end of the book. This book was beautifully written. The author carefully described all the events and the characters were so easy to love and obviously some where easy to dislike. Do yourself a favor and read this book because you won’t regret it! Warning: Make sure you have a box of tissues with you!
I absolutely loved this book! It was raw and emotional and so realistic when it comes to take care of your younger siblings. It is a standalone so you can just jump into it!!!! This book had so much romance and the characters were multi dimensional and all of the characters felt so real. The storyline has so much emotion, love, hope, and so much more…..
There was a lot to follow in this book but it was such an easy read. I read this book in just one day which I loved. This book was so vivid that it felt like you were experiencing everything with them! This book is about a twnty three year old Maggie who is now a mother to a nine year old who is also her brother. It was so nice to read why Ash would call her mom instead of Maggie, it made my heart constrict. I don’t know how Maggie could balance everything in her life with Ash, College and work but somehow she did it, and she did it wonderfully. the Last thing on her mind was romance but like always romance comes just out of the blue. She met this amazing swoon worthy guy at college but little did she know is that he is also Asher’s teacher at school.
Asher just radiates positivity and hope and he is one amazing kid that you can’t help but love. He is one kid that loves hockey and his teacher who he helps in classes.
Luke has the weight of he siblings on his shoulders. He moved back into his parents house to protect his siblings from their abusive father. Luke wanted to become a teacher and help those who are being abused by their parents he wants to show the children that they are loved and safe at school. Luke attends the same college as Maggie to finishe his education. Both Maggie and Luke wants to be teachers and these two have more in common than they realize. Both has a dysfunctional family life….. Luke has his farther and Maggie has her wicked grandmother who wants custody over Ash.
The moment Luke sees Maggie is the moment he is drawn to her but he does not know why. He spend all his time trying to break down her defenses and telling himself that he is not good enough father, because he fears he will be like his farther.These two have so much baggage and issues but they are perfect for each other. They did have ups and downs but we all know they are meant to be, even Ash knew about it. Ash is so sweet he help Luke with Maggie and the ending was so amazing I loved Luke and Ash work together making a plan to break down Maggie’s defenses.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. Once I picked it up, I had a hard time putting it down. The author has written a wonderful story about two people who discover that they just don't want each other, but they NEED each other.
Maggie has a lot on her plate. Ash is an awesome kid, but she is acting as both a mother and father to him while going to school and working. She is doing everything she can to give Ash the best upbringing that she can, even if that means making some personal sacrifices.
Luke is Ash's phys ed teacher and goes to school with Maggie. He grew up in a house that had him taking the brunt of his father's anger. He now feels like he needs to protect his younger brother and sisters, while trying to figure out what he really wants in life.
On paper, a relationship between these two seems like a really bad idea. Once Maggie and Luke spend some time together and get to know each other, they just can't stay away. They complement each other and are actually a perfect fit. Even Luke's siblings welcome Maggie and Ash with open arms.
I freaking loved Luke...he was exactly what Maggie needed. He helped open her eyes to not only the idea that she should accept help when people offer, but also that falling in love doesn't mean that she has to neglect Ash. Luke's relationship with Ash was adorable and made me swoon all over the place. Unfortunately not everything is sunshine and roses and when things go to crap and Maggie keeps her distance from Luke, he gives her the space she needs. It's really hard for him to stay away, but he knows that the separation needs to happen if he wants to build a life with Maggie and Ash. It was hard for him to understand, but once he does, he knows what he has to do.
The excerpt below is probably my favorite moment in the book. Not because of what they are saying, but because of the way it comes about. It comes after a very stressful event and they way Luke responds made me like him even more.

"Jesus, this is crazy. I don't do love. I can't. Don't you see my life—" My face instantly fell, and rejection settled in my bones. I wanted to burst into tears and flee. "But I fucking love you," he finally said.
"You do?"
"I fell in love with you when I saw your passion for this boy," he said as he rested his hand on Asher's shoulder.
"I think I've always known that you were something more."
"I love you," he said.
"I love you, too."
"Now go to bed. Tomorrow we have a busy day."

It is so rare to find a book that has very well-developed characters and goes at a pace that everyone will enjoy. The author took her time building and creating each character as well as the story and believe me, it is rare to find books like these.
Maggie is in charge of her 9-year-old brother because her parents died. She is trying to be responsible so she can take her of Asher, which means no partying and no dating. Luke is starting his new job as a PE teacher. It turns out that he is Asher's new teacher. When Maggie and Luke meet, two different worlds collide. Will they be able to make it work? Or will someone end up hurt?
This story's romance is not your average type. They usually are so predictable and cliché but this story is not one of them, which I liked a lot. The writing of the author is so beautiful and easy to understand, that it makes each scene so vivid while reading. First of all, I want a cute kid like Ash. He is the most sweetest and adorable kid ever!
"Everyone at school talks about their moms, and I think I don't want to say 'Maggie' 'cause that's stupid. I just think you're my mom more than our real mom was before anyway." (Asher's explanation for calling Maggie "mom".)
Luke and his siblings have been dealing with one specific personal issue for a while, which makes him want to stay at his parents house so he can protect them from the abuse that they have been receiving. But we can also see how Luke sometimes needs guidance and all of his siblings are right there to help him out. Luke and Maggie meet at college, in the same class that they are both taking. Maggie doesn't want a relationship but Luke doesn't give up easily. I loved how the romance was set to develop at its own time and it wasn't forced at all, which is really rare to find in books these days.
I felt that the author did a great job with the story. She really took her time developing each and every character. You could feel that there was no rush and you could read it a peaceful pace. Every topic was explored and had their end, which I loved. I do wish that one of the matters had been explored and done justice but it wasn't, which put me off. All in all, everything was set to be a very great enjoyable story filled with raw emotions and characters that are flawed with real issues, which will have the reader relating to the story in one way or another.

I really enjoyed this story. Great story line that dealt with real life topics. When Maggie and Asher lost their parents at a younger age, Maggie had to grow up way to fast. She decided what was truly important in life and gave up her life to take care of her little brother.
Luke had a hard home life, with a father who was never around and violent when he was. Luke decided to become a teacher, which is how he met Asher, and later discovers the cute fiery girl in his college class is in fact Maggie.
Maggie has to decide whether or not she can let her walls down for Luke. If she can, maybe just maybe she will realize that she isn't alone in life.

This is a great story about the discovery of friendship, trust & love.
What I think Taylor Lavati has done well is write this story realistically. This couple didn’t just meet & fall in love at first sight. They built a relationship
based on friendship first and that took its natural course & developed as the story progressed.
Having Maggies younger brother play a big role in this story softened it made it a more family orientated journey and tied the story in stronger than
It would have without him.
There is a lot of detail In this book so if you like quick, move along at the speed of light books, then this one may be a bit long. But if you like attention
To detail & like to visualise things playing out as you are reading then you will enjoy this story.
The characters development from the start of the book to the end is complete which is why at the end I wasn’t sitting there scratching my head wondering about
anything that did or didn’t happen throughout their journey.

For the Love of Ash was an uplifting emotive read that focus's on the daily struggles of coming to terms with the loss of parents, the rebuilding of lives shattered through poor choices, sacrifice, child abuse, anger management and the importance of family and importance of love. It dealt with real life issues that I think any reader can connect to in one way or another.
Maggie Larken is a reformed party girl. No longer enjoying the free and easy lifestyle she is accustomed to. She is now the legal guardian of her younger brother Asher after the death of their parents. She struggles daily with real life issues and questions everything she does.
Luke Wilson has always done everything asked of his parents but now at 23 it's time to start doing things his way and maybe follow his dreams however, the reality of his home life and what his siblings have to endure at the hands of their father it's impossible for him to break free fully.
When Maggie and Luke meet neither of them are looking for a relationship nor to fall in love...sometimes life has other plans though. They both need to navigate through these new found waters and decide where there priorities lie, whilst also seizing what they want and discovering what becoming a family really means.
This book really does pull you in. I enjoyed the dual POV's it was insightful to the thoughts and feeling of each of the main characters I felt it allowed me as the reader to fully connect with them. My heart genuinely ached at times for them as the life struggles felt so real and raw it was hard not to have the heartstrings pulled. The author had obviously researched the topics covered in the plotline as it had depth, flowed and left you turning the pages. The main characters and secondary characters were well developed, likeable and easily connectable. I felt overall it was a really enjoyable read all tied up in one book.
Would recommend to readers who enjoy their romance with a bit more than just hearts and roses.

I discovered Taylor's books earlier this year and I love them so much! So when I saw that she had a series with a sports theme I was all over it..( Sports Romances are my new favorite genre and have been since I read Pucked haha) in For The Love Of Ash though it has a bit of a sports theme but the meat of the story is the relationship between Maggie and Ash. She becomes his guardian after their parents are killed in an accident and they are both having somewhat of a difficult time readjusting to their new reality. While beginning a new year of school Ash has a gym teacher (who happens to be trying to adjust to a new role himself transitioning from party good time guy to a gym teacher just trying to make a difference) who takes notice of him and leads him into the solace that sometimes only playing sports can provide. By a twist of fate Luke is also attending the same school as Maggie trying to get his Master's Degree while being a full time teacher.
The scenes where Luke is with his family are pretty intense and make you really feel for his character and see why he is the way he is about wanting to make a difference in the lives of his students and support them by not just teaching them the rules of dodgeball but by listening them and being someone they can talk to. Maggie and Asher also did not have a fantastic home life while their parents were alive and I think that is why she is so determined to be a better role model for Asher and always spend quality time with him.
There are so many moments that triggered my aww reflex but definitely my favorites are the first practice where Luke has to drive them around and the Halloween scene where they are dressed up as the Guardians of the Galaxy. Epicly cute everyone, let me just say! It's moments like these that make you want to binge read until you get to the end and want more. . . So I did! (muahahahaha!) I loved this book from start to finish. These characters are not perfect but they don't have to be. No one really is! They are realistic and true and just trying to do better than their parents did before them. You can't ask anything other than that as far as excellent characters to read about.

Maggie, the main girl, has to suddenly become an adult when her parents die and she gets custody of her nine-year old little brother. She goes from immature party girl, to 23-year old mom, and she is actually really good at it. While trying to balance parenting, work, and college, fate decides to throw her a curveball by the name of Luke. Try as she might to avoid him, she can't because he sits behind her in one of her classes and also happens to be her little brothers gym teacher. He is a ridiculously cute and caring character and is perfect in a way that only fictional characters can be.
Luke decides that he needs to get to know Maggie better. There is something about her that he just can't shake. After a lot of resistance on her part, and endless persistence on his, they finally decide to give a relationship between them a try. They go through trials together as Maggie is still figuring out this whole 'Mom' thing and Luke has to deal with his abusive family situation, but they strengthen each other and Luke almost always brightens the day by doing something cute and romantic. Maggie really grows throughout this book, she starts out as a selfish carefree young adult, but when put in a difficult situation she rises to the occasion and becomes the person that she needs to be. She kind of turned into my hero.
This book spoke to me in a personal way because I have a nine-year old little sister and I was able to picture myself in Maggie's situation. It would be so hard, opening up your life to someone new when you know how much it would affect the little person you are caring for...well, I can understand why she was so hesitant. The writing was fantastic, but it did contain quite a bit of language, and a couple of detailed sex scenes. I tried to skip over those. If you are looking for clean books, then this is probably not for you. I know it's not a book that I would want my daughter reading.

Maggie divided her time between school and taking care of her brother. After their parents' death, Maggie struggled to live a normal life, a life that was so far from what she was accustomed to do. Then she met Luke in Asher's school. Suddenly she had another reason to keep on moving forward in spite of being left an orphan at such a young age.
Luke was on his way to becoming a teacher, but his life had always been a myriad of questions and uncertainties. He had always been a responsible son and he would do everything in order to protect his siblings. Protect them against their own father who had a history of hitting him when he was younger. Such a sad life Luke had been leading.
When they finally had a chance to get to know each other, suddenly, there's sunshine, there's a rainbow and there's hope. It was such a heart-melting, tear-inducing story about love, family, responsibility, finding happiness, forgiveness and hope.
I should have brought a hanky or a box of tissues when I read this in a hair salon (I brought my Kindle and read this book while waiting for my turn to have my hair cut). I ended up wiping my tears using the salon's drape cloth / cape! (Ugh) Just imagine my hairdresser's face while I was controlling my tears; he thought he had cut my ear instead of my hair.
Overall, I enjoyed reading For the Love of Ash, it was written beautifully. The author carefully described the events as they unfolded, and the characters were easy to love (and some were really easy to dislike). This summer, do yourself a favor and grab this book. Just make sure you got a box of tissues when you read this.
