Phil Aerix's Tinkertown 3 clocks in at 853 pages but seems a lot shorter. There's lots of dungeon action as Phin and his team encounter many new dungeon monsters and have to find ways to get past them and occasionally eat them. There's also some Tinkertown mayoral intrigue on the home front but the domestic focus is more on firming up the relationships amongst the dungeon team, their fellow citizens and adding a few new characters. While I suspect Peggy and her supersoft tail will have a lot of fans, I think Claire adds a lot more depth and interest to the team. Her rough patch near the end of the book, and its steamy resolution, were quite interesting. This volume mainly occurs on the 3rd floor of the dungeon, and the team is desperately trying to complete it before Tinkertown is doomed by invading monsters. It's a heady mix as Phin and company have to balance battling monsters and getting stronger, even adding some aether capabilities, with needing to tinker with devices to try to preserve their town. Especially good news is that in the afterward Aerix mentions having finished writing Tinkertown 4 so that'll be coming our way once the editing is finished.

This book was pretty good, but fell short of great for me. At 772 pages, it's very long, and since there's a lot of Slice of Life elements, it bogs down a bit.

The MC adds one harem member at the very end, but there are 2 more that are lining up to likely join. Spreading the MC around 3 women looking at him with doe eyes makes for a lot in one book, even if it is as long as it is.

The book ends on a cliffhanger. Not a huge fan of those, and this one doesn't really make sense timeline wise, but I guess I'll find out in book 4. I do look forward to the next book in the series.

the story gets better and better

Challenges as the group go farther into the dungeon. Each member of the team builds experience and new challenges are increasingly more difficult. New characters from the dungeon are introduced who become part of the cast, as well as new ones who are transported to Tinkertown.

New guests to town arrive and the self proclaimed mayor is still a problem and his jealous new partner is causing a lot of problems. The dungeon exploring is going well with some new twists from the past.

Decent entry

Well written and less flowery then the previous entries. Phin is still Phin and won't harm then people that need it...unless they are in the dungeon. The love intrest are well written. All in all it is a good entry.
