The Unpleasant Thing

Rate this book
I used to love those movies where the guy's ex, The One That Got Away, comes back to town, and he's unable to resist her even though he's taken.
I was even dumb enough to cheer for the star-crossed lovers.
Now that I've lived that particular scenario, I'm about to find out what happens to the abandoned girlfriend after the two love birds get together.

It was really good! I liked the writing and the depth of the characters. I find many stories I read in this genre, it’s pretty surface level. I don’t really know the characters and that makes it less enjoyable. This one, I really got to know and like Marissa and her baby DJ. She had a backbone and I liked how she protected her baby and loved him so much. Dylan, her baby’s dad, was SUCH a moron but I did like the way he loved DJ. His cheating on Marissa with his first love Rebel was pretty gross, but I liked his gradual realization that she was a horrible human being. I liked the slower pace of the story that let me digest the bad behavior. I also really liked the way Marissa met Hawk and didn’t let her crappy MC sideline her from getting a message to his friends to save him. The story ended just the way it should with the bad guys getting their just desserts.

Very satisfying read. Thanks for the great rec, Nikki!

This story completely blew me away. Daria didn’t just write a good book—she delivered something immersive, emotional, and honestly unforgettable.
From start to finish, I was hooked. This is one of those reads that makes you feel everything—you’ll cry, you’ll rage, you’ll sit there staring at your phone processing what just happened. And yes… you might even get a little flustered too because Hawk?? He had me feeling some tingles in my neither region. Yeah… that man is dangerously attractive physically and emotionally 🥵
But what really stayed with me was Marissa. Her vulnerability and strength were so beautifully written—it wasn’t just something you read, it was something you felt. Watching her navigate everything with that quiet resilience was honestly mesmerizing. I adored her.
And then there’s him—Temu Slim Shady 🙃 the way that man had me ready to reach through the screen… I was SEETHING. But at the same time, I have to give the author credit because he wasn’t written as some flat villain. He felt real, flawed, frustratingly human… to the point where I almost (and I mean almost) felt bad for him. That kind of character work takes skill.
That’s what makes this story stand out—the balance. The emotion, the tension, the character depth. Even when I was mad, even when I needed to take a breather, I couldn’t stop reading.
Truly a phenomenal read. 10/10, highly recommend if you’re ready to be emotionally wrecked in the best way.

To get a better idea of my emotional state during Daria posting on Wattpad this is one of my comments begging her to post another chapter.

WHAT BLOOD SACRIFICE IS REQUIRED FOR THE NEXT CHAPTER????
Because at this point I’m willing to square up with the moon, fight a raccoon, sell my left AirPod, and legally change my name to “Update Pending” if that’s what it takes.
This story has me in a psychological chokehold. I am not reading it anymore, it is READING ME. I blink and I’m thinking about these characters. I breathe and I’m stressed about their decisions. I eat and suddenly I’m mad at somebody who doesn’t even EXIST.
I have refreshed so many times my phone thinks I’m in a toxic relationship.
PLEASE. I am spiraling. I am deteriorating. I am outside your door spiritually shaking the bars like LET ME INNNNN.
Drop the chapter before I start writing fanfiction out of desperation and it’s gonna be WRONG.
I am begging. I am THREATENING. I am UNWELL.

This story was entertaining and although sometimes over the top, I liked the book. I didnt love the piv switches ( its mostly the fmc and her new love mmc but the cheating basterd ex bf and the druggie, awful other woman's povs were included). Those pics I could have done without but I dud get a clear sense of how selfish, careless and st times stupid as he'll the cheating ex was with his pov. I only felt bad for his son and not an ounce of sympathy when karma came his way. What i do like though is when the cheating ex realizes they lost the best person I n in the world in the fmc. I didnt want them together, I just wanted him to realize who snd what he lost when he cheated.

I was glad that the hero, Hawk was a good guy, not a criminal and not foolish enough to not hold onto the fmc. Hawk belongs to a sovr living mmc rather then a criminal one like her ex, Slim. They have a long distance relationship after they get kidnapped together by the other woman's cartel member ex boyfriend. She reaches out to his members of the mmc to rescue him and after that he's totally smitten with her.

Its like night and day with sometimes the contrast between the ex and the hero being over the top but I wanted the best for the fmc but a realistic best ( not a billionare mafia member to swoop in)

3.5 rounding up. I really enjoyed this one! Great angst. Good FMC. The new MMC is a dreamboat. Old MMC is an idiot, but he was such an idiot that it kind of amused me. He shows some growth by the end that I appreciated.

Overall good read!

What a ride

Marissa after what happened to her found a new man and some fantastic people. I loved them all. They were so loyal and didn't ask for anything.

I'm so glad that Rebel got what was coming to her she was a piece of work. As for Dylan/Slim he deserved his losses also. It made him grow up. Too bad he didn't grow up and not cheat on her to begin with.

I at a loss for words, but I’ll try.

The Barren Luna was one of my favorite reads last year, so it’s no surprise this is already a fav for this year. Daria T. Rowan you need to get to writing faster my girl, because I don’t know if I can wait another whole year for a new book! Would you be up for destroying my soul quarterly?

I swear this woman must have either advanced degrees in psychology or many years of therapy under her belt because she understands the human psyche.

The fact the I found myself feeling genuinely bad for a cheater, who hadn’t even apologized yet? Just goes to show you the power of Rowan’s writing. Without giving away spoilers, the ending was perfect. Imperfection in the most satisfying way.

And let me just say? The amount of times I’ve cried while reading this book… I actually had to set my kindle down just to…*feel*

At a loss for words. I feel wrung out.
I need more.

Consider me the #1DariaTRowanFan

Some minor edit suggestions:

For flashback scenes: ITALICS. PLEASE. It was really confusing to reading a new scene just sandwiched in the middle of chapter when you’re in another scene. Impossible to differentiate.

A family tree/character list for this new MC family is needed because between road names/government names, familial relations, and divorced people still being friends I can’t keep them all straight.

Triggers provided by the author at the bottom of the page, as possible spoilers.
From what I understand this is a wattpad author who has put her books on KU.
I read this on KU.
I admire the fact she's done this, good on her.
Is the book perfect? 5 Stars to me? no but I felt she makes some interesting observations and I will definitely be looking up her back catalogue.

Dual POV at the start the MFC, heroine and her soon to be ex.
Ex has on-page cheating and heroine gets a new Hero.
Heroine is no doormat as soon as she is able to end the relationship with the cheat she does, she walks away.
New Hero has an interesting club, basically ex addicts etc.
Some very interesting breadcrumbs dropped for future books I would be interested in reading.

I did feel a bit confused/lost at times.
As an example, a character will be having a conversation with someone and will refer to a convo/event from another time and then the convo/event starts which to me read as part of the same convo.
Whether it was down to Kindle editing I'm not sure.
I've seen this sort of situation done as a flashback or the memory written in italics to just differentiate from the current convo.

HEA.

Triggers
The FMC gets cheated on, on-page. Alcohol and drug abuse and addiction are discussed throughout the book. Discussions of a past abortion (not by the FMC). Discussion of child death via drowning.

What begins as an unapologetically messy, painful cheating story evolves into something far more emotionally honest and satisfying than I expected.

The betrayal in this book is not softened or hidden behind vague misunderstandings. Dylan cheats openly and repeatedly with the woman he’s clearly obsessed with, and the author allows the damage of that betrayal to fully land. Marissa’s pain feels real — especially as a new mother already struggling with body insecurities, low self-esteem, and emotional isolation.

What I appreciated most was that Marissa never becomes a martyr. She bends, she breaks, she doubts herself, but she never completely loses sight of what matters: her son, her self-respect, and the people who genuinely deserve her loyalty. Even after being treated with disdain by Dylan’s MC, emotionally abandoned, and literally kidnapped by a cartel because she’s mistaken for the OW, she continues to show strength in quiet, believable ways.

And then there’s Hawk.

Honestly, I agree with many readers that Dylan never truly felt like the MMC — Hawk did. Dylan may have been the great destructive love, but Hawk was the man who actually saw Marissa clearly from the beginning. The fact that she saves his life before he becomes such an important emotional presence only deepens their connection. He represents safety, steadiness, and genuine appreciation after so much emotional neglect.

What really elevated the book for me was Dylan’s ending. The author doesn’t force a redemption-through-reconciliation arc simply because he finally understands Marissa’s worth. Instead, Dylan loses everything and slowly begins rebuilding himself. He comes to accept that Hawk is the better man for Marissa and even grows grateful for the life Hawk gives both her and his son. There’s regret there, but not bitterness. Accountability without entitlement.

That emotional maturity made the ending incredibly satisfying.

Messy, dramatic, painful, chaotic at times — but also emotionally grounded in a way many cheating romances fail to achieve.

A memorable read for me.

I really wanted...

I seriously wanted to beat the scrap out of Slim/Dylan!!! He was so easily pulled into his worst nightmare and in the end it almost cost him everything!

Marissa annoyed me for a bit. But she grew and matured in the end. Found her self worth

Hawk was a steady ship in the storm that was named Dylan and Rebel. He didn't so much as rescue Marissa as he helped and encouraged her to believe in herself.

Rebel that b!$@h 😡😡😡😡😡 she got what she deserved!

I had the chance to read it on Wattpad and eagerly awaited each chapter. Although some readers of books in the cheating genre don’t want to classify it as such because there’s a new love interest involved, much of Marissa’s personal growth is a result of that infidelity. It’s a catalyst for her development as a person, as a mother, and as a partner. Giving yourself another chance and seeking help when you’re used to relying only on yourself is a huge act of courage.

I liked the characters of the hero (Hawk) and the antihero (Slim/Dylan); reading their perspectives gives the book a better flow and keeps it from getting monotonous. Honestly, even though I’m always a fan when the cheater gets what’s coming to them—and the mistress along with him—in this case, I think Rebel deserved something worse (ahhhhh, I don’t know why she in particular seemed so awful to me).

Another thing I liked was reading about a MIL who isn't horrible. Susan is a woman with her own traumas, but she's there for Marissa when she needs her, and in the end, she becomes the support Slim needs to move forward.

Something I didn’t like very much was that there’s a point near the end, when the heroine is already part of the MC Chasers, that confused me regarding other characters’ backstories or where they came from. I think it’s part of the author’s strategy to give us a glimpse of who might be the protagonists of her next books, but I found it confusing.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, and I hope the author writes more.

First non fantasy shifter book I’ve read by this author. It was a good read. So far all her books I have read have been 4 or 5 star reads.

The book centers on two totally different MCs and how much they differed (family, trust, reliability, respect etc).

H is member of the Wolves MC. After getting h pregnant he makes her his old lady and moves in together. Their son is 4 months old when his old girlfriend (first love who left him for no reason ) comes back. She is the old presidents daughter and new presidents sister - this the MC princess. Pres makes the H hire her to work in his tattoo shop. Within weeks they are sleeping together. And at the NYE party at the club , the h is met with coldness from the pres and his old lady and one of the mc members makes snide remark about her protecting her territory. She over hears the pres and H talking . Pres is asking why h is there and why H is disrespecting his sister by bringing her there. H says he has a plan to remove her from their lives.

h goes to leave party but gets kidnapped. This is where she meets new H. Who is from another MC and is kidnapped. Apparently his MC are semi vigilantes and they blew up a meth lab. They kidnap her thinking she is the OW because she was with the H and they look alike. When The drug lord finds out they kidnapped the wrong woman he actually tells the kidnappers to take her to hospital and drop her off. When the H gets her from hospital they take her to the MC to question her and she tells them that she was told the OW stole from him. She also told them that she needed to contact the OH (Hawks) MC so they can save him. They tell her not to worry about it they will handle it. According to OW she was with Carlo the kidnapper but he got abusive so she took money and ran $200k. The h doesn’t trust the MC to help Hawk so she calls. They come to MC to ask her what she saw. They are able to save Hawk.

Eventually the h moves to the other MC. Falls in love with Hawk, marries has kids and the H realizes what he lost. Lots happens in between. The OW is druggie and gets stoned and has car accident with H son. h get upset and gets the ball moving to turn the OW into Carlo who kills the OW for stealing from him.

H looses everything. His house business etc.

Two MC - original MC is standard type MC. Drinking smoking woman etc. but not like a family / brotherhood. Or sisterhood. The new H MC is family and loving and respectful.

What I liked -

- h growth and building of confidence.
- H realizing his mistakes
- new H being so great to her !

What I didn’t like
- some parts they sounded childish and immature. Like when the H and the MC is having money issues but he is spending fortune on his sons birthday.
- the amount of time it took for new H and h to have sex. It didn’t really match up with MC life.
- the way the OW was killed. Excessive !

This story was recommended by one of the romance groups on Facebook. I really enjoyed it and was able to read it on wattpad!

This story contains cheating and I know that is a trigger for some so I will put your mind at ease, there is a new scrumptious hero…and the cheater gets what he deserves!

Marissa the heroine meets Slim(the anti hero) who belongs to the local MC. Slim is instantly attracted to the h because, she reminds him of his one true love. They have sex, she gets pregnant, and he claims her as his ol’ lady. He moves her into his place. He is excited about becoming a dad and he genuinely loves his son even though he is a crap dad in many ways. Shortly after Marissa gives birth to their son DJ, Slims ex, Rebel comes back into town. She is the President’s sister and he assigns her to work in Slim’s tattoo shop. Slim is obligated since the MC funded the business. Rebel had been gone for 6 years, and she is hiding lots of dirty secrets. However, Slim wears blinders when it comes to her and she isn’t even there a month before they start a torrid affair. Reading about their smexy times may cause a reaction, so have a garbage pail nearby lol!

Marissa who looks like Rebel ends up getting kidnapped. (They wanted Rebel) It is here she meets Hawk. He is also a prisoner and will be killed any day. They form a bond in captivity and when it is found out that she is not Rebel they let her go. Once she is released she is able to get help for Hawk so he isn’t killed. He belongs to a MC as well, and that one act earned her a place in his MC forever.

Anyhoo, Slim marries Rebel and Marissa starts emailing Hawk. She ends up moving with DJ to his MC which is two hours away. The MC takes her in and treats her like family. She ends up living with Hawk(he has room) and eventually they become a couple( Hawk really is a dreamy hero! He loves her so much)

Meanwhile, Slim comes and gets his son when it is his time. But his life is a complete mess. There is a lot of karma being dealt, and it isn’t stopping until it takes down every despicable character.

In the end, karma has been dealt. Slim and Rebel are no more. Marissa and Hawk are married popping out babies, and Slim has learned to be a decent father.

I have left out so many details, so many!!! But basically, if you like a story with drama and payback, then I would take a chance on this story. On top of this the h finally finds her forever love and learns to love herself as well!

The author introduced some other characters throughout the story, and I am hoping they will get their own story. I will be looking for more stories from this author!

4 5 stars!!! 'The one that got away' reimagined... this one was unexpected and I'm completely satisfied. I read this on Wattpad, I actually pay for the ad-free version, or I would otherwise go insane. Anyways, this was really good. We have a sweet, kind heroine that meets a man at his tattoo shop as she's interested in getting her first tattoo... something to commemorate her mother that passed away several months earlier (never knew her father and she's an only child). They have a connection and soon she falls preggers. Our tattoo artist (Slim) is in an MC and has been pinning for his 1st love for 7 years when he meets our look alike heroine. He's delighted by the baby news as this was always a dream for him. The OTGA, had an abortion claiming they were too young and it's also the reason she later sites for just up and disappearing for 7 yrs. All seems good until after 'she' returns. By this point our heroine has had a son and he's 4 months old. The OW and Slim or Slime are now working together in his tattoo shop and having an affair... I'm gonna not spoil the rest cause this one has all the ingredients to keep you flipping the pages... our heroine gets an upgraded MMC, a true Hero... comeuppance for a vile OW and some for the MC that didn't fully support our heroine...I should note that our heroine was made an Ol lady by Slim/Slime without duress. He didn't want to lose another child and truly wanted a family, but he really wanted these things more with the OW. Slim was good to our heroine and his son, up to the point when the OW/ former club princess returns.
Back to ingredients...
OW drama
OW comeuppance
cheater comeuppance/ regret/redemption
club comeuppance
better MMC
New MC family that is a true family
Sweet relatable heroine that comes into her own when she finds her 'tribe'.
Interesting side characters that aren't fillers that detract from the overall plot (I hate that shit, btw)
an HEA and epilogue that makes you smile.

I love Daria T Rowan's writing and when this one hits KU, it will be purchased for my library.

A tale about a toxic first love…

Marissa is the FMC, and she’s had a baby with her partner, Dylan. Then his first love, Rebel, returns after about five years. And he almost immediately starts an affair with her. Rebel is a nasty hoe, and she pretty easily takes Dylan away from Marissa.

Dylan’s in a MC and his road name is Slim. So on New Year’s Eve, Slim and Marissa go to his clubhouse to celebrate, but he’s actually planning to dump her, while she’s trying to reignite their relationship. And she’s mistaken for Rebel as they look a lot alike, and she’s kidnapped by Rebel’s ex. The ex is a drug lord and she stole from him. Now Marissa is bound to a chair and interrogated. There’s another person there, road name Hawk, and the drug lord has grabbed him because he blew up a meth lab of theirs.

The drug lord actually lets her go when she explains what’s happened with the identity problem. His people drop her off at a hospital, and when Slim gets the call, he and some club members go there. And she tells them exactly why she was kidnapped…

Rebel is a total biotch. She ends up getting her just desserts, and so does the club. Running drugs for a cartel didn’t work out for them.

One of my favorite authors. I love her werewolf books the most, but this is almost as good. The character of Marissa was well written, and so was Hawk. He wasn’t too alpha, which in hindsight wasn’t a great idea. The character of Dylan/Slim was really done well. He was actually TSTL and it took an accident for him to finally wake up. And he got what he deserved too, an empty life.

i wanted to liked this based on the other books I read by this author but I didn't. First of all, the flashbacks need to be italicized!!! kept throwing me off. Also as much as I love a strong fmc who can stand on her own, not be a doormat and leave, and this fmc did, I just didn't like her. she cried all the time, took way to long for her to figure out she was living with a cheater, I mean really?? yes she was a great mom, she put her child first but she was also kind of dumb? I don't know can't put my finger on it. she relied on another man to save her and her baby. anyways, at least she left the cheating ass and yes he was a grade A ass, not just that but gross and because the book opens up with him and his inner monologue and based on the info given to us, he never loved the fmc, she was a replacement and even from the fmc pov, I never felt they even had a loving or evening nice relationship. that gut punch was lacking, I never felt it and didnt care. the fmc gets her hea anway with the other man, yes he was nice but boring, the ow gets her comeuppance, original mmc is left alone and living with his mom. it was all meh.

This story kicks ass. I was fairly heartbroken for the sweet heroine in this story, discovering that the man she thought of as a husband was cheating on her, and then she watched him walk away from her and instantly marry his ex that he had secretly always pined for since the ex left him years ago.

This cheating POS was so damn hateful and cruel. He was the worst. I hated him so much. And I hated the slutty, skank-whore ex too. But I loved this entire story, and I LOVED seeing this sweet heroine finally get a man worthy of her love, and a club that was worthy of her loyalty too. The evil cheaters got the comeuppance they had coming to them, and the assholes at the cheaters' club got what they had coming to them too. This was an excellent story and definitely a future re-read!

Not what I was expecting but so good either way. Dylan & Marissa come together when neither of them is necessarily looking for a relationship or ready for one. Six months later Marissa finds out she is pregnant so Dylan makes her his old lady. When, Rebel, the one that got away comes back everything falls apart. I struggled a bit with how fast Dylan took Rebel back without having the conversation I needed to happen. We see both Dylan & Marissa move on with other partners but only one of those relationships is going to workout. Hawk comes into Marissas life and the way he loves her was beautiful with his slow, patient care of her. He saw all the best pieces of her and then held up the mirror so she could witness what everyone else already knew to be true. Rebel came in like a storm and the path of destruction was wide reaching. All of her gorgeous, edgy, excitement came at a cost.

This is a good book.

Both Dylan, the first MMC, and Marissa, the FMC, are a bit annoying at the start of the book. Dylan has the emotional capacity of a toddler, and Marissa is also a bit immature (despite being a good mother).

Dylan's first love rolls back into town, he cheats, Marissa gets kidnapped ... that's when the book really starts.

Marissa learns her worth through Hawk, the second MMC who is an absolute babe, and moves away from Dylan. She gets a job, surrounds herself with good people, finds love with Hawk, and continues to raise her son, DJ.

Dylan is too blinded by his dick to see what a piece of trash his first love, Rebel, really is. They both deserve everything that happens to them. Dylan's only saving grace is that he goes to therapy and works on becoming a better man.

It's an easy read and I do recommend it.

To the point story of low self esteem (childhood trauma) FMC, Marissa, who is an under appreciated ol’ lady. Her biker (first MMC) cheats and is caught with his former obsession/love from years prior. He leaves Marissa easy peasy and marries the trollop. He has an infant son with Marissa yet he cares not. He’s TSTL, selfish and obviously not redeemed. He gets his karma and his new wife does too (violently). There’s a kidnapping thanks to mistaken identify but it allows Marissa to meet her new Hero, who is the best. Her life moves on in a fantastic direction that gets her the fairy tale she deserves.

Literally LOVE Daria’s work!
Unpleasant Thing is a raw take on what it looks like to find out grass is never greener on the other side.

The new H did not disappoint. The growth of the characters is chefs kiss. & the karma oh baby it is SWEET. Riss is ugh pulls at your heart strings for sure.

I told myself I was gonna browse the book and ending up getting hooked of course and spent the last couple of weeks checking for updates on Wattpad before I even brushed my teeth in the morning! It’s that freaking good.

Ms. Rowan’s writing style is elite. Everything flows nicely.

Can’t wait to buy it from Amazon when it releases from there.
I read on Wattpad.

Originally read on Wattpad.

Cheating = h's boyfriend is cheating with his ex. h leaves and divorces him.

h sees H with OW = h sees the two interact and she comes to understand that her boyfriend was only with her because she looks like the ex, also he knocked her up (the h) so made the h his old lady but never married her. Also, h get to overhear the boyfriend talking to another about how he needs to ditch the placeholder now that the real thing is back and they have been banging like bunnies.

MC = it's there and has some part to play in the relationship dynamics

h gets a new and much better H who treats her like gold and loves her son.

Good read to see the breakdown of a relationship and how the h found her strength to make a life for herself that ended up being the fairytale. I could have used the OW/OM drama tag but the h never let them win and the OW/OM get karma!!

could have been great

So here’s the biggest problem with the story. This author is written some good stuff, but this had a major plot hole that made me absolutely despise the FMC. And I don’t know. Maybe I’ll come back and lower the rating from three stars. The fact that the first thing through her head wasn’t let me pick up the phone that’s in my hospital room and call and try and save hawk is absurd. On what planet are you kidnapped sit in a room next to a man who tries to save you and protect you and the first thing you do isn’t trying to save him as well. She is a terrible human being and I mean terrible for that not being the first thing that she does.

This is disgusting! I was quite enjoying this book until I got to Chapter 24 where one of the characters is wearing a tshirt with the word 'Intifada' on the front of it and a certain flag on the back. This is incredibly triggering for me. You are an author of fiction and as far as I am aware not an author of Religion or Religious History and you need to keep this sort of political/religious comment out of your work if you want to be read by a wide cross-section of the romance reading community. This was so unexpected and shocking to come out of nowhere while reading a book to take me out of the reality of the horrible things going on in the work right now.

I loved it.

I saw the author’s name on my recommended list and jumped to start this book. Finished it without stopping. I loved all of it. I’ve read other books and knew the writing would be good. My tbr list is stacked but this jumped to the top. I didn’t know how much I would like Marissa. When she was first introduced, I didn’t realize she’d be the FMC, it didn’t seem the MMC was into her so I was confused. But I loved the story, I absolutely loved the twists, Marissa, and Hawk. Hawk was everything a man should be. I’m glad she met him.

A good read

I got a bit confused from time to time when there was no clear transition from one character or location to another and it took a moment or two to work things out.
That being said, the story is sound. The characters are gentle and typical... Dylan is selfish and thoughtless, Hawk is not. Rebel is toxic and Marissa is not. The breakdown of one relationship and the new MMC is described patiently. I think more time could have been spent writing about Dylan's relationship with Rebel and his own reflections which seems short.

Something for everyone

This book has everything a good book should have. There is betrayal, anger, kidnapping, and most importantly moving on with new people. There is also all the emotions and trauma of those things.

The characters are well developed, interesting and relatable. OK, maybe Slim isn't that relatable because he's a selfish jerk. However, his character does grow towards the end. Marissa is a strong woman. She went through he'll and survived. Hawk is just awesome.

If you like drama and moving on then you'll like The Unpleasant Thing.

a very good book for those who learn to heal and know your own worth through reading surviving trauma books. this book covers a lot of trauma, but it covers how much you can heal with the right support and a village building you up.

this book will make you feel it all.
you can tell a good author by the way they can make you absolutely hate a character and have you screaming at the chapters. (bonus is because it's wattpad you can scream in the comments)

Story was pretty good. Some things drug out and some thing’s were rushed. I did like the depth of some of the conversations but the connections of Hawk’s friends needed more depth for me. Marissa breaks character towards the end when it should have been Slim that pulled the lever but that’s just me. Overall was a good book. And I would definitely read a linked story with other characters from the Chasers.
