There’s a special kind of heartbreak when you finish a book series that makes you long for people who only exist on pages. Oh The Grail Cycle, I’m going to miss being part of your world!!
I was very lucky to receive a gifted ARC of this final instalment, but I have purchased all 3 of the books in the series so far prior to this, and The Grail Cycle has quickly become one of my most recommended series to friends to date.
I don’t even know where to begin, but I plan to keep this spoiler free.
This book tied everything together, closed every chapter and left no questions unanswered. The only question left on my mind was when will I get to see this world again?
From the syhrens and gods, in Ordes and Jenyfer to the brilliant humanity in both Arthur and Kat we got to grow with every character and hold our breath during each battle hoping our unusual heroes survived to live another day.
One character that truly grew on me in unexpected ways was Lamorna, her unwavering faith (showing how blindsided we can all be) and strength in the end was an incredible way to finish her story. Even more impressive considering I didn’t like her for most of the series!
If you’re looking for romantasy that focuses more on the fantasy, Arthurian legend but reimagined because we don’t need the same book rewritten (!!!), immersive world building and well written interesting character development The Grail Cycle is the series you need to read next. I’ve already got everyone in real life hooked, I might as well try and convince everyone online too!

Kate's Grail Cycle series is one of those series that will always live in my mind and my soul. I know I will keep coming back to it time and time again. This series deserves to be cherished, and I hope you will give it a try.
The Grail Cycle is an Arthurian retelling like no other, interwoven with gods, prophecies, and chosen paths. In the end, it is a story of love. Love for people and humanity as a whole. A story of reshaping (or trying to) a world that had descended into chaos filled with thirst for power, greed, and hunger for more.
I have been a devoted supporter of Kate's ever since I read her first series, The Fires of Aileryan. From there, I received the extraordinary privilege of being chosen as one of the alpha readers for The Grail Cycle series. Everything I felt while alpha reading, I felt with this ARC. Everything and more. It all came together in this epic finale, bringing tears to my eyes countless times.
My love for this series and these characters is eternal and all-consuming. I cried with them and for them, cheered them on, and connected to them on such a deep level. Their struggles, their fears, their love—I took it all in, inhaled it, and stored it for safekeeping, never to forget.
If there is one word to describe this series, it would be "choice". The power of choice. Of loving who you choose to. Of trying, falling, and getting back up.
"Arthur wanted a world of tolerance, acceptance and freedom - choice." And not only Arthur; everyone did. And they all fought for it. They fought through blood and death. They fought when they thought there was nothing left to give. And they were willing to give everything, even lay down their own lives, for a chance at a better world.
I'm so grateful for how this story ended. It's a bittersweet feeling, saying goodbye to these characters after all this time, but I feel at peace. And I know they do, too.

The finale we've all been waiting for since first reading about a siren 🧜🏻♀️ and a pirate 🏴☠️ falling in love and running away together to shape the fate of the world - and what a finale it was.
First of all, a huge thank you to the author for sending me an early copy of her book and trusting me with her work. I've been an early reader for The Grail Cycle since book one and it's kind of bittersweet to see such an amazing series come to an end.
The story picks up right where we left off in book three, seamlessly switching between povs and drawing you right back into the story. With some of the most beautiful prose I've read to this day, Kate creates an incredibly immersive reading experience 💫 She has a way of making you feel the characters' emotions in a way that should be the norm.
Jenyfer and Ordes will always have a special place in my heart. Not only as a couple but also as individual characters. They mean so freaking much to me 🥹 Watching them get the ending they deserve, after all they have been through, was incredibly touching. They definitely make it onto the list of my top five book couples.
But they're not the only characters I've grown to care for over the years. When we first met Lamorna, I didn't expect to feel so much for her, but here we are. Her povs slowly but surely became my favourite to read. You can't help but see Mordred through rose-coloured glasses the way she does, although we all know how his story ends ❤️🩹 Their story was as beautiful as it was tragic.
And that ending… the emptiness I felt when I turned the final page was honestly unreal 🫠 It's crazy how much this series has come to mean to me.
Also, Merlin is such a dilf - I said what I said 🤭

I'm lost for words. I don't really know what to say. I'm so sad this is the end!
I have been drawn into this world since it began. I have been lucky enough to have beta read book 3 and been gifted ARCS of the others.
This was a roller coaster of emotions.
I honestly didnt know what was going to happen to my beloved characters of Jen, Ordes, Kat and Arthur.
It was interesting to see Lamornas story arc, I wanted to see her step into her power a little bit more but I was satisfied with how it played out with her. She was so strong and determined and had so much growth from book 1.
Jen and Ordes, just wow. I love these 2 so much ( especially Ordes, who will forever be my book boyfriend 😍, he is swoon worthy, protective and magical ). Jen has so much hurt, pain and anguish inside her but she still stood firm, growing and being fiercely loyal. Plus shes a Syhren so she kicks ass anyway.
Kat was my biggest and best surprise. She was so protective, again she was flawed as all the characters were but she was the mum of the group who would do anything to protect her loved ones.
Then we come to Arthur... the once and future king. His development was like nothing else. He grew and grew and it was great to see in this one his darkness as well as his light.
I cant write much more with out spoilers but there was blood shed, betrayal, justice and retribution.
But not forgetting the love, friendship, family bonds and overall unity ❤️

An epic end to an epic tale.
This last installment successfully wraps up all plots and subplots and provides a fitting and well-thought end to the overarching story.
It is well-written and well-researched with many connections to be made if you look close enough, with complex characters who successfully avoid falling into boring cliche stereotypes.
I heartly recommend this series to anyone looking for a nice and well-done epic fantasy with an interesting and plot-driven romance.
Little Spoiler (not much but if you like to go into your books completely blind, read further only at your own risks) !!
I will admit I am not a fan of happy endings in most books, epic fantasy in particular. I am not against a little plot armour, but when it gets to the final book, I want to see consequences. Hell, I want to see devastating consequences, the proof the war was not only hard-fought but hard-won. I want to finish the book with tears in my eyes and a bittersweet feeling. Now I know that's not for everyone and many people prefer their ending happy and well-wrapped.
But overall an incredible series and definitely worth a read!

I was recently lucky enough to receive an eARC for the final installment of the Grail Cycle series by Kate (I say lucky, we all know its because I'm an absolute pest and relentless when I find an author whose writing has dug its claws into my soul).
While this took me a while to get through, it was purely because I was not ready for this story to end. To span 4 incredibly well written books, to have developed attachments so deep to characters, to have a feeling of home and comfort within the pages... the idea of it ending was almost terrifying. So I drew it out, took my time, chose to read it on days where I knew I could withstand the anticipated heart ache.
And every moment was worth it.
Kate did a phenomenal job wrapping up such an extensive story, in a way that wasnt completely perfect, but perfectly complete. Tears were shed, laughs were had, messages in all caps were sent.
Still craving a Kat spinoff, though 👀

I got this book as an early release but it took me awhile to finish it because I didn't want to say goodbye to my favorite characters.
Some other reviewers said the same thing I found myself also thinking, these characters are making choices, there are choices in their lives that they can make that will change the course of their lives. Kate did a great job of exploring the choices and finding out what each one really wanted for themselves but also for the future of the world they were trying to build.
Orders, Jenyfer and Arthur all came a long way from just the simple people trying to escape a horrible town. Between falling in love, family problems that we can all relate to, finding family members, dealing with meddling Gods and all while developing their magic abilities, these characters grew into some of my favorite people.
I honestly will always love this series and look forward to reading it again someday soon.

This book felt like coming home. It was the most amazing, comforting feeling to finally be back with these characters. Kate continues to weave this magical tale with the skills she has honed over many years of writing and the only disappointment I felt was knowing that it was over and there will be no more books to read!
If you are reading this after reading the first three books, you will surely enjoy this final installment. If you are reading this review to decide if this series is for you, I will say that I took a huge chance on this indie author years ago and it was the best risk I have ever taken regarding my reading choices. If you enjoy stories with many plotlines woven together, multiple POVs, and are looking to read something a little different from what these big publishers are churning out like crazy, take a chance on this series!

forever live rent free in my head. The characters are so real and you feel it all.

What an epic journey, one that will live with me for a long time!! I have absolutely loved this series and this final book was perfect! Loved the Arthurian retelling storyline with epic adventures, pirates & sirens, meddling gods & goodness, fantastic characters, swoony romantic moments, and more. There are so many dynamic characters, both good and evil...I have loved it all! I will miss this world but am also happy with the conclusion.

With this final chapter in what is a phenomenal series, Kate wraps it all up with a thrilling conclusion. All the praise I gave the previous stories work here as well, and I found myself glued to the pages right up to the end. There are shocking twists, emotional scenes, and intense battles… exactly what one would want when the storyline is a mix of epic fantasy and Arthurian legends.

Kate you’ve done it again and fully immersed myself with pirates and syhren and meddling gods in this final book in the Grail cycle.
It goes to show that sometimes that the blessed word may be misconstrued to benefit some then others and just how damaging that can be to oneself and the view that they’ll have on the world.
How tough choices and decisions can make or break oneself and how detrimental that can be to those around you.
Would highly recommend to those who love a King Arthur story retelling.

I have been emotionally invested in the lives of these characters since the first book, and was so excited to be able to see how it all ends. This one had me on the edge of my seat - all the fights may or may not have elevated my heart rate…and I shed some (happy) tears at the end.
Overall a fantastic close to the Grail Cycle; the author definitely did all her characters justice.

Let me just say the series has been a journey, and this book was no different. I was captivated every storyline played out the way it should. I didn’t know I needed a Pirates of the Caribbean and King Arthur retelling mixed together done so well but the story has so much character growth, adventure, and just everything I loved it

The epic conclusion to an epic saga!
I loved this, it really felt like the perfect end to what has become one of my favourite series.
The ending hits so right, but you still get the fantasy panic when something has gone wrong and there's <100 pages left.
Will 100% be making my friends read this series.

I was up until 1am finishing this book because I had to know how it ended. I was not disappointed Kate did a fantastic job at bringing everyone's story to a finish. I am going to miss this world.

This book has meant having P-E-A-C-E and adoring it in my most complicated month of the year. Never mind, I've loved reading it.

What an ending to this series! 👏🏻⚔️✨💧🧜♀️🏴☠️
We continue to follow Ordes, Jenyfer and Arthur through to each achieving their destiny, stopping the Gods, and restoring balance (and choice) to the world.
This is an excellent and unique Arthurian retelling with pirates, sirens, magic, doctrine, Gods and Demi-Gods. The story was paced well and full of adventure which made each moment fun and captivating.
One thing I do feel that could have been done better was the fighting. It really came down to our main characters and Mordred not completely hating each other, so it felt anticlimactic when they ended up in battle. As morbid as it sounds, I do think this book needed more loss, death and all-round evilness, as well as more direct fighting with the Gods.
Each character is still incredible in their own right, and so well written that you understand their motives, emotions, desires and faults intimately. The side characters are truly an amazing addition.
I laughed and cried (a lot lol) throughout this book, and it was such an enjoyable rollercoaster of emotions. You will finish this book feeling satisfied because the ending was perfectly done 😌
