Billionaire Situation #8

Just Another Summer Crush: a small town, secret identity, summer beach romcom

Rate this book
He's a billionaire hiding at my bed-and-breakfast, pretending to be ordinary. I'm the woman who fell for every pretty word…

Carter Banks shows up at my struggling beachside B&B looking for a place to disappear for the summer. I accept his reservation because we need the money. As it stands, I have three months to save my family's legacy and no time for distractions. But the chemistry is off the charts, and we can't get enough of one another.

Between late-night meetups and early morning coffee runs, I'm falling for a man who feels like home. He helps me slow down long enough to remember what I'm fighting for and reminds me to have fun.

Everything seems like it might work out until the sharks start circling, both the corporate kind and my ex wanting a second chance. Somehow, Carter's the only one keeping me together. But when paparazzi photos and gossip blogs reveal the guy I've been falling for is actually Dyson Carter Banks—billionaire CEO and exactly the kind of man I swore I'd never trust—I'm left wondering if it was real or if I was just another summer crush.

There's only one way to find out...

The Vacation Situation is a small town summer romcom with a secret billionaire who falls first and harder. Each book in the Billionaire Situation series is a stand alone and you can read the books in any order! Grab some sunscreen and an iced coffee and get ready to live the sweet life in Coconut Beach! “I choose you, Wendy Winslow. Every morning. Every evening. Every storm.”

Lyra Parish, babe, how do you manage to craft a perfect romance. Every. Single. Time.

This queen has basically blessed us with 3 books in 3 months and I DEVOURED each one! This book was a surprise release and it was so good!

The whole aesthetic of Coconut Beach was so well done. I truly felt like I was on a beach vacation. I wanted to be at Cocktails & Chaos. I wanted to pick up a coffee at the Salty Siren. And I wanted to let Mia find me my next romance read at, Salty Pages. This group of authors put their heads together and made a little island town that felt like home, and I loved them for it!

“You’re mine, Wendy Winslow. If we do this, I won’t share.”

Dyson has been in a ton of Lyra’s books and seeing him finally stop working himself to the bone and find happiness was so special.

“One of us has to keep the rules in place.”
“Rules are made to be broken, Wen,” he says.
“Then try harder to break them.”

The banter and chemistry between Dyson and Wendy was divine. When the secret summer friends with benefits deal enter the book I was giddy. I just love this trope so much and Lyra did it so well. These two caught feeling so quick but denied it until the end! August 3rd will forever be engrained into my brain in association with Dyson & Wendy’s deal!

“You are the love of my life. My anchor. The one person who makes all the noise stop. I will never stop loving you.”

If you are looking for a fun fling to feelings romance with a secret billionaire and a strong woman carrying the weight of her families legacy on her shoulders, PLEASE go snag this story! I can’t wait to read the other interconnected books in the Coconut Beach series.

I loved this book! All the beachy, summer vibes & the spicy romcom I needed in my life!! I was so hooked in from the first chapter & enjoyed every minute of this one!

Wendy is back in coconut beach to try and save her grandmas B&B & get her life back on track after a breakup. She was the FMC I needed in this book! Strong, independent, and not out looking for love. You also had Dyson “Carter” Banks, the secret grumpy billionaire who is sent on vacation to get away & take a break from his corporate life in NY. I absolutely loved getting his story!!

These two weren’t looking for anything more than summer fun, but their chemistry was off the charts!! Watching their relationship grow & the fun that had together absolutely melted my heart. These two broke down walls & opened up, leaving way for so much more between them. This book had me laughing, swooning, and the spice was perfection!!

This one also had some meddling friends & family, that kept me cackling & wanting more from them all! I had such a good time in this little town of coconut beach & I am so excited for more from this series by other authors!!

Thank you Lyra for this early copy!!

Wendy (33) & Carter/Dyson (41).
This is a very cute summer romance featuring the remaining Banks brother and a rather interesting hotel manager.

The summer vibes are everywhere and they make you feel like you’re on the island too.

It’s very well written, has a very nice flow and pace.

I liked both the MCs, I just wish a few things were slightly different and less rushed.

Like the realisation she’s the one; it came too soon, was sudden and inexplicable. I mean, we went from lust to a lot more really quickly but I wasn’t very convinced about the lust either. Wendy too, it felt too soon after her serious relationship.

Dyson was only grumpy for a tiny amount of time - I guess I wanted him to be difficult for a little longer.

-Dual 1st person POV
-Spice: 🌶️🌶️

Overall: 3.5/5 ⭐️ for me.

I received an Adv. Readers version of this book and I have given this honest and voluntary review.

Lyra never fails to deliver!!!

I must say, this is now my new FAV of all her books. Which is saying alot because Patterson is everything in a book boyfriend - HA! But oh Mr. Dyson Banks... Yeah he took that spot real quick!

This was such a fun and easy read. I love their love and can’t wait to read the other books for multiple authors for the Coconut Beach series, just hoping I get a little more of Dyson & Wendy!!

Thank you so much for the chance to read this eARC Lyra!

I was lucky to be gifted an advanced copy by the author.

This winter has felt loooong! Just Another Summer Crush is the perfect way to shake off winter! Honestly, I’m ready to move to Coconut Beach where life is sweet.

This book had me mentally on the beach, toes in the sand, basking in the sun. I loved the vivid imagery in this book that allowed me to picture myself in Coconut Beach right alongside Carter and Wendy.

Carter is the brooding billionaire on a forced 2 month vacation from work because he’s a workaholic who hasn’t taken a vacation in 7 years. He thrives on routine, is hiding out at a BnB to be alone, is stupidly charming even when he is being a grumpy ass, and high maintenance.

Wendy moved home to try and save her family’s BnB. She just ended a 5 year relationship, is also a workaholic, the eldest daughter and a Virgo, plus a ride or die friend.

We first met Carter in the Billionaire Situation series and I am sooo glad he has gotten his own book! I loved the dynamic between Carter and Wendy. Even though Carter is a high maintenance jerk, when he cares, he does so with the same intensity he brings to his job. Wendy is fiercely independent and I love that Carter doesn’t try to change that. One of my favourite things is great banter and boy do Carter and Wendy have it! Plus, when they start their secret relationship the tension is absolutely delicious.

I also love a meddling grandma and Coconut Beach has a whole group of them called “the bees” because they are busy bees. Their group perfectly rounds out the book for me!

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Tropes:

Fling to feelings

I’ve been waiting for Dyson’s book and I loved it so much! Wendy was such a fun character too, and I liked her so much. Coconut Cove had its own personality, which is one of the things I love most about small town romance. This is an absolutely perfect Summer read. As always with Lyra the spice was perfect for the characters.

Dyson was basically forced to take a vacation (and we all know what happens when a Banks brother is forced into a vacation, he didn’t stand a chance), and ended up in Coconut Cove at magical B&B. I loved getting to see the changes in him as he kind of just let go.

Wendy works so hard to keep everyone around her happy. And I loved getting to see her tell her ex to kick rocks. Because if there is one thing I love in Romance it’s when a terrible ex gets what is coming to them. But getting to see Wendy kind of let her hair down was one of my favorite parts of the book.

I’m really excited to see what Josie gets up to, because it sounds like we are going back to Cozy Creek for her book.

I read an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

Just Another Summer Crush is the perfect book to read by the pool or while lying in the grass on a warm summer day. It makes you travel while also restoring your faith in love.

I absolutely loved the two main characters, Wendy and Carter. They are both unique, with their own personalities, yet incredibly complementary in the way they interact with each other. They reminded me of the ease and comfort I share with my fiancé.

It’s a sweet story with a few twists, but what stood out the most to me was the development and growth of their relationship rather than the obstacles they faced. We see them evolve through their connection and conversations much more than through the more difficult moments. That's what I liked about this story!

Overall, I really enjoyed this story. It was cute, comforting, and perfect for a relaxing read!

Be sure to pack this romcom when you go on vacation because it is such a lighthearted vacation read with all the heat and summertime vibes! After a recent break-up, Wendy leaves the big city to help her Gran with the floundering seaside hotel, but she was not prepared for the handsome guest, Carter, whose extended stay could save the hotel, but steal her heart too. Their connection was real but bittersweet with the end of summer deadline looming. I enjoyed how their relationship developed naturally, the humorous side character and the seaside setting sounded beautiful. I especially needed the overall easy, breezy feeling this story left me with.

ARC review: Just Another Summer Crush delivers exactly what it's title promises: an easy, sun-kissed escape into a small beach town where love finds you when you're not looking. Lyra Parish blends charm, humor, and heartfelt moments into a romance that feels effortless to read and is perfect for a lazy afternoon by the water. The story follows a billionaire hero who, overwhelmed by burnout and the relentless pace of NYC, slips away to a coastal town. What begins as a quiet retreat quickly becomes something more when he crosses paths with the B&B's beautiful, stubborn, and irresistibly real granddaughter. Their chemistry sparks naturally - equal parts tension, tenderness, and playful banter. If you're looking for a lightweight, easy-to-digest summer romance that simply makes you happy, this one checks every box. It's literally the equivalent of dipping your toes in the ocean: soothing, simple, and exactly what you need to relax.

Lyraaaaa! You have outdone yourself. This is my absolute favorite of your books (which says a lot because I've read a ton of them!). I am in love with Coconut Beach, and Wendy and Carter...Dyson. I absolutely adored this read and the Bees. I hope to be as cool as Gran one day. I love how all of Lyra's stories find some element of crossover. With the last name Banks, honestly, at first it went over my head, and then dawning hit me, and I fell even deeper in love. This world you've created is so fun and wonderfully interwoven!

I am so happy to be part of Lyra's street team, and that I get access to all of her books early. This one is out now and needs to be part of everyone's summer reading list!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ARC Review – Just Another Summer Crush by Lyra Parish
Just Another Summer Crush is the perfect emotional, laugh-out-loud summer romance. This book had me smiling one minute and almost laughing in tears the next—it’s such a fun, addictive vacation read.
Wendy returns home to save her family’s struggling B&B, and just when things feel hopeless, Carter Banks shows up with a long-term stay that changes everything. What starts as a simple summer arrangement quickly turns into something deeper, filled with chemistry, playful banter, and so many unforgettable moments.
I loved how their relationship developed—from flirty tension to a full-on summer fling, to something real and meaningful. Carter completely won me over with the way he shows up for Wendy, supports her dreams, and ultimately chooses her. Their connection felt natural, emotional, and so easy to root for.
Between the small-town charm, hilarious side characters (especially the matchmaking grandmas!), and the high-stakes pressure of saving the B&B, this story had the perfect balance of heart and humor.
Sweet, steamy, and full of love, this is the ultimate summer romance you won’t want to miss. So grateful for the ARC! 💙

Summer lovin’ Lyra’s newest romance! I was blessed to receive an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of the first book in the Coconut Beach series. Everyone knows Lyra is the Queen of Fall and her Fall I Want is my absolute favorite”falliday”romance! Her Very Merry Books are some of my most loved holiday romances! Now I get to add one of my favorite beach reads! We get to see one of the older Banks Brothers find his HEA! Dyson Carter Banks is in desperate need of a vacation and nearing burnout, when he books a room at the Seaside B&B. Wendy Winslow left a big-time hotel industry job, to come back and save the Seaside from financial ruin. The sparks fly from the moment the two meet, and we get to see Dyson learn to relax and start to desire a life outside of work. We see Wendy find herself by saving the B&B, and realizing her ex never valued her, just what she could do for his career. As usual, Lyra brings the spice! Dyson asan older lover is Chef’s Kiss with his experience! I couldn’t put this book down! I wish I could escape to the Seaside and absorb the sun and sand and make a dent in my TBR pile! Looking forward to escaping again to Coconut Beach! And to read Josie’s story next summer!

Just Another Summer Crush is the perfect summer beach read! It is the first in a series of four books set in a small, fictional Florida beach town.

Carter Banks is a billionaire who is forced to take a two-month vacation and step away from his chaotic New York City life. He finds himself in Coconut Beach, Florida, after his assistant books him a room at the Seaside Bed and Breakfast. He intends to keep to himself during his 63-day stay, but that plan changes the moment he meets the B&B’s manager, Wendy Winslow.

Wendy is back home helping her grandmother run the B&B. Fresh off the end of a long-term relationship and leaving a job that left her unfulfilled, she is trying to pick up the pieces at her family’s inn. With repairs to make, rooms to fill, and responsibilities piling up, she’s struggling to keep everything afloat. She has three months to turn things around—and Carter quickly becomes her biggest distraction.

Wendy and Carter share an undeniable attraction. After early morning room turnovers, coffee runs, and stolen moments together, the two eventually give in to their chemistry.

Things begin to change when paparazzi show up looking for Carter, revealing that he isn’t who he claimed to be. At the same time, Wendy’s ex reappears, hoping to win her back. As complications arise, they find themselves clinging to one agreement: no major decisions until August 3rd—the last day of Carter’s stay at the Seaside Bed and Breakfast.

If you’re a sucker for spicy romantic comedies, this book is right up your alley. It’s also the perfect summer read—the vivid descriptions make you feel like you’re right on the beach with a tropical drink in hand! I love anything Lyra writes, and when I saw she was a part of the Coconut Beach series, I immediately jumped on her book. The details in both the settings and characters are wonderful.

This is a great read, especially coming off the final book in her most recent series. I had been anxiously awaiting her next release, and this one definitely didn’t disappoint.

I loved Wendy—she’s such an independently fierce FMC who is determined to save her family business, and nothing will stand in her way. She stays true to herself throughout the story and is supported not only by Carter but also by a strong circle of friends and family.

Carter—who you later find out is someone else—is a grump at first, but the Florida beach town really softens him, and you can’t help but fall for his character. He’s incredibly supportive of Wendy and helps her achieve her goals and then some.

This book has all the best romance tropes! If you’re ready to start your summer in April, pick this one up. It works perfectly as a standalone, but honestly, why wouldn’t you read the other three books too? I know I will—I want to find out what happens with some of the characters mentioned in Just Another Summer Crush!

Thank you, Lyra Parish, for the ARC! I’m always so excited for your books and the romance adventures you create. 🩷

I love Lyra Parish’s work. I have been devouring her Billionaire Situation series as soon as they are available, and I was thrilled to find out that this book connects with those in a way that is still standalone, but it features a character who appeared in those, and I was always curious to learn more about. Talk about a wish come true.

Enter Dyson Carter Banks, older brother to Nick (Hookup Situation) and Asher (Boss Situation) and CEO of his corporation, but also on the brink of burnout, so the board order him on vacation for two months. So he winds up in Coconut Beach, at the struggling B&B owned by the grandmother of Wendy Winslow. The attraction is instant, but he’s supposed to be keeping a low profile, and she is recovering from a broken heart caused by another rich a-hole.

Thanks to her meddling grandmother and her posse, Wendy and Carter (as he’s known as there) start spending more time together and grow closer.

I loved watching Wendy open up to Dyson, watching her defences crumble around him. I also loved Dyson from the beginning. He was handsome, charming, and he read books like a true book dragon. The longer he spent on the island, the more he bloomed into the man he truly was and not the cold corporate machine he’d become. He became friendly with the whole island, not just Wendy. He was accepted by the grandmother posse and seemed to be immune from their meddling, but he still fell for Wendy, hard and fast.

I was so happy for them to find their happy ever after.

Can Lyra ever write a bad book? The answer is no!!!! I have loved every single book I’ve read by her and Wendy & Carter’s is no different!!

Wendy has come back to work on getting her family’s B&B back to its former glory & be in the green. In walks Carter Banks… who has booked for the entire summer. What a way to help her out! While he’s surly at the beginning, he quickly becomes enamored with Wendy.

Wendy doesn’t want to cross the line to have anything with a guest, but she can’t resist the pull & chemistry she feels with Carter.

However, the magic of the B&B takes over & neither can resist any longer. Rules are made to make it just another summer crush. Wendy just got out of a long relationship. Carter isn’t from Coconut Beach. So it’s the perfect scenario for the both to enjoy this chemistry they have.

But chemistry is chemistry & the B&B has guests leaving different from how they were when they arrived.

Their fall into love was so sweet… the relaxed Carter came out & treated Wendy with the full princess treatment that she never had before. He knew she was special & deserved some of the most simplest of gestures. Coffee. Her favorite flowers. Listening. Simple compliments.

These two are just too cute & I highly recommend reading their story - it makes you want to go book a vacation on the beach to enjoy the relaxation & sunshine that comes along with it!

I do believe that our life is a series of events that lead us exactly where we are meant to be. Every single action that we do, every step we take triggers a reaction for me everything that Dyson and Wendy went through in their past lead them to each other, for me that is called destiny.

Seaside Bed and Breakfast in Coconut Beach is full of magic, and that magic was reflected in Wendy and Dyson love story. I loved the belonging and love that Wendy felt for the B&B, the relationship with her Gran and sister Josie. And the feel of community.

I feel that Wendy and Dyson felt in love day by day, little by little, by discovering each other in the island.

I was so invested in their love story, that I was rooting for them to find their happiness together, more than a summer crush they were soulmates.

I absolutely loved how thoughtful was Dyson, he was so focus in the little things that would make Wendy happy, things like learning her coffee order, or bought her flowers just because. And how Wendy was so empathic about his fear of water, or the mention of his sister Eden, one of my favorites things of Wendy was the advice that she said to Dyson, that we always keep the memories of our love ones that we loss by talking about them.

They complement each other perfectly, they are so selfless about each other and they only care about each other happiness even if that means that they are going to be in separate places.

This book is the perfect reminder that the faith and the hope is the last thing we lose, that love can conquer all and that we can never give up our dreams because they do come true.

Thank you Dyson and Wendy for choosing each other against all odds. And thank you Lyra for this magnificent and wonderful summer book!!

Thank you for making Wendy a Virgo like me!♍️✨💫

Ah, I'm so glad I booked a ticket to Coconut Beach and dove directly into the summer vibes of the place. I absolutely loved Carter's and Wendy's story.
"You look different. Happier. Lighter."
"It must be the ocean air. Does have a way of getting in your lungs and changing your life."

Carter is burned out from work and the only thing he wants is to disappear for the summer and enjoy the easy going vibes of Coconut Beach. He wasn't counting on meeting Wendy who runs the struggling B&B he's staying at. The chemistry between them ignites sparks and what starts as a fling, a secret relationship turns out to be so much more. A friendship blooms, feelings are getting stronger, there are late night talks, a bit of tequila and chocolates, walks on the beach and oh, so hot secret encounters.
"This isn't a crush, and I kiss her deeper, knowing she's everything I've been looking for."

"Just another summer Crush" is book 1 in the multi authors series "Coconut Beach" and can be read as a standalone. You've got to read it because there's something addictive in the ocean air of Coconut Beach...
Thank you Lyra for this ARC <3

💭 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 summer romance was a delight. Wendy is struggling to keep her family's B&B afloat, while Carter is a workaholic billionaire in need of a break and what better place to do it than Coconut Beach. The spark between them is immediate, but Wendy is fresh out of a bad breakup and is focused on saving the B&B. Before they both know it, they find themselves in a summer fling that was never meant to last past August, but soon feelings get involved and I was hooked!

𝗜 absolutely enjoyed this book, just like all of Lyra's work. She has a knack for making you feel like you’re in that place experiencing the breeze of the ocean and even rooting for the main characters' happiness. The story was fast-paced, low on drama, and had that summery feel I adore. I highly recommend it if you like that small-town charm and billionaires going incognito. A great start to a new series, each a standalone written by a different author. Lyra Parish is up first and delivers a delicious summer romance featuring the oldest of the Banks brothers, who are featured in her other series.

Dyson Carter Banks has been forced to take a vacation and is undercover in Coconut Beach. He finds himself captivated by the quaint B+B and its owner Wendy.

Wendy has come home to save her family’s B+B but the bills are piling up faster than the guests are booking in. When ‘Carter’ checks in for 2 months she feels a bit of relief.

Wendy is trying to recover from heartbreak and Carter is trying to hide out but both of them end up on a path to discover themselves and each other.

This was a fun lighthearted beach romance. Looking forward to the other books in the series.

Thanks Lyra Parish for the arc!

I just loved everything about this book. The characters, the world, the setting. Just everything.

I wanted to hop in my car and head to the beach while reading this. The whole vibe of the book was incredible.

YAY!!!! We finally got Carter. I loved him in Billionaire Situation so seeing him in more details in this book made me so happy.

Wendy I just loved her. She is me to a T. Like the oldest child, a Virgo and a workaholic. I definitely could related to her completely.

I really loved this book. I can't wait to see what is up next for Lyra but in the meantime I think I am going to dive in to this multi author universe and continue reading the coconut beach series.

Thank you Lyra for the gifted ARC.

Excuse me, queen Lyra?! 3 books in 3 months and all of them are bangers?!

Wendy gave up her successful job and 5 year relationship to come home to save her family’s legacy: a BnB in a coastal town. I love that she is very independent and that Dyson just lets her be herself. Carter/Dyson is an extremely overworked CEO forced on a 2 month vacation. I loved watching him get relax some and fall in love. Finally getting Dyson’s book was a treat. The banter and spice between these two was top notch.

This book gives all the beachy, summer vibes & is a fun spicy romcom. I loved the aspect of the meddlesome granny’s and friends. The whole aesthetic of Coconut Beach is very well done (like I actually felt like I was at the beach?!) Truly the PERFECT summer beach read.

He’s here to escape and she came back to her childhood home. Forced to be under the same roof these enemies quickly turn to lovers but is it just for the summer? I wish Wendy would’ve taken the opportunity to put her ex in his place but I guess everything worked out all in good timing. Me in that situation wouldn’t have been rational. Could you tell I was way too invested in this book lol. Anyway, this book is fun lighthearted and its occasional drama that will have you so invested. Love how Wendy and Carter quickly let go of the enemies faze but that doesn’t mean the juicy drama isn’t there. Wendy and Carter grow in this story and it was so special to read. Strong start to this series.

Thank you to the author for the ARC copy! Truly so grateful for the opportunity to read this early and I’m already excited for her next book!

Summary: Wendy leaves behind her successful career in California and returns to her small hometown island in Florida for a fresh start. Enter Carter Banks (yes, that Banks from Lyra’s other books) a billionaire on vacation who may be more than just a temporary distraction.

Thoughts: I really enjoyed the cast of side characters — they added so much personality and warmth to the story. The small-town setting felt cozy and easy to fall into, and it was fun spotting a familiar name if you’ve read Lyra Parish before.

The ending genuinely surprised me (in a good way!), which always earns extra points from me. It was a breezy summer read.

I usually loathe secret billionaire romances, but I DEVOURED this one. This was such a perfect sweet summer escape and I totally want to visit Coconut Beach. This book made me hungry for tacos and the desire to feel the salt on my sun-kissed skin after a long day at the beach. I thought this was the perfect mix of sweet and spicy and I loved it so much. These characters were so much fun together and it was so fun to get lost in this world for a day.

Thank you to Lyra for personally sending me a copy, I loved it!

Wendy and Carter's fling turned relationship was just the best pool side read I needed. I can't what to see what other mischievous fun the "bees" get into in the other books from this series. The bees 🐝 seem like they would such a fun group of ladies to know and sit down for a glass of sweet tea to hear the latest gossip with.

ARC review: a little late, but better than never! As always, Lyra's romance books make you swoon. Coming from someone who doesn't enjoy the beach or beach towns, I officially feel like Coconut Beach could be home. I loved the nosey grandmas and friends that just had to butt in. I'm also happy Dyson got his happiness! He was such a good character. Read this beachy comfort book if you want to drift away to a cozy beach town.

Seriously the PERFECT book to kick off warm weather! Wendy was a boss babe. Dyson was a big ol softie. I thought he was going to be a bad boy, but nope. He was perfect and swoony. It was fun seeing snippets of other characters. I cannot WAIT to see what's next. Thank you Lyra for the arc!🖤

ARC! 🤍
I truly enjoyed this book, and I felt like it helped me get out of my winter slump. I do feel like it was a little rushed at the end. I loved the spice between the characters, and her Gran reminded me so much of my own grandma.🤣
