What an adventure!!! I am heading towards having read all of J. Robert Kennedy's Acton thrillers. It will be a sad day when I do; because then I'll have to wait until the next one is written.
I couldn't put this book down! The way Robert wove the story surrounding a Roman soldier the pierced Jesus's side at the crucifixion into this novel was epic. I love the historical aspect of his books even if he's used literary licence to fill in the gaps and create his own storyline. Excellent
This was an exciting thriller. It begins with the story of Longinus, who pierces Jesus' side with his lance as he hangs dying on the cross. It fast forwards to today as a relic believing to contain the blood of Jesus is stolen. As more relics are taken and violence ensues, James Acton springs into action. This was non stop excitement and a great read.
Archaeology professor James Acton is in a race against time to rescue his wife Professor Laura Palmer ....again.
The professors are pulled into an international chase for the BLood Relics which are being stolen by a very rich and desparate man who believes that the blood of Christ will heal his father who has a terminal disease. Professor Palmer is wounded and kidnapped by this man and he holds her hostage while Professor Acton goes on the hunt for the relic, aided by Interpol, the CIA, Army Rangers and the Vatican.
These books are so much fun! Great recurring characters, lots of history woven into the story, and a whole downhill run of fast paced action.
If you read Protocol, the first in the series , and like it you have many hours of reading adventure ahead. There are 40 books in the series (so far), along with side series involving some of the recurring characters.
J. Robert Kennedy has done it again. I discovered this series long after the publishing . I have read the first twelve in order and can’t wait to start thirteen. I do hope at some point he revisits justice on the villain and recovers what was stolen. I think it would be another great story and although it is fiction, I would feel better knowing that justice had been served.
Book 12 was a fun read and had a few errors throughout. The overall plot was interesting and different with dealing with blood relics. The back story of the blood relics was from a soldier's perspective on how he met/encountered Jesus and became a believer. The overall was a bit predictable, but overall a fun read. The characters are still interesting, but the back and forth can be a bit much to read. I look forward to the next book.
Where do I begin, on the edge of your set start to finish. The author brings all of the people to life. Each and everyone of them. You cheer them on, you laugh at some, Niner is a love. You hang on to them all from start to finish. Love this series, just love it. On to the next book. Thank you, J. Robert Kennedy, my hat off to you.
If you are looking for religious material it's not in this book. Starts out religious but quickly changes. It is not a thriller either. Don't recommend it.
Not my favorite Acton thriller, but not the worst. Certainly not as good as the previous book, The Riddle. But the primary characters return, and as always these books are fun. This time someone is stealing the blood relics, the items refuted to have the actual blood of Jesus Christ. It's up to Acton and co to find out who and stop them. Short, fun, full of action and excitement. A worthy addition to the series.
This series just gets better with each installment. I must say that this chapter in the series really intrigued me due to my interest in religious fiction. This book was literally impossible to put down.
I'm always happy to read any of the J. Robert Kennedy books; this one is no exception. The James Acton series brings plenty of action and excitement along with likeable characters. I rated this one 48. stars.
The James Acton books are always a fun quick read. Even though they are a series, they do not have to be read in order. The stories are exciting and full of adventure...it is like you are reading an action movie and watching it play out in your mind. These books are definitely good reads!
Yet another phenomenal book by Kennedy. This time I liked how certain characters were required for certain roles. I love the commical nature between Dawson and Niner. Their characters are really upbeat for working in the Delta Force and facing death all the time. I like how BD has got a girl, yet Niners now become a single man. I'd like to see his relationship evolve with Maggie. I am pretty devastated mind over the "awful news" at the end. I really wished you hadn't ended their journey this way, even though I understand why you have made the storyline the way it is. Can we please kill off Terrance & Jenny. Their characters don't help the book. They're just irritating bystanders who you try and give parts too.
overall good book. moderate amount of action, not as gruesome as others. the history of the relics was fascinating and writing an action novel around this was well written
J. Robert Kennedy just keeps his readers on the edge of their seats with the James Acton series, and this one is as great as all of the other ones I've read. Laura being shot then kidnapped keeps James on yet another roller coaster ride all over Europe searching for an elusive 2000 year old blood relic while Laura is held prisoner, the kidnapper telling James "either you find the blood relic before my father dies c, who was near death, anyway," and if my father dies, so does Laura ". Another psycho with his own army, more help from BDDawson, the Vatican, and,of course the ever present Hugh Reading, along with special help from the Viatnamees girl they saved in the last book, and a sweet surprise ending makes this another great book I lost sleep again trying to finish in a couple of nights. Can't wait for more, so on to the next book. I would now call myself not just an avid fan, but addicted to the Acton_Palmer series, and wouldn't have it any other way.
