╰┈➤KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

This jumped up on Amazon’s recommendation so I thought what the heck mose well give it a shot, grabbed it and dived right in and enjoyed every moment of it and I'm now hoping the next book isn’t too far away because I need to know if they all reached the safety they were seeking or if they encountered destruction at the premises.

This story centers around 3 woman Deb (mother) Peri (youngest daughter) and Cora (her sister).

Twenty eight year old Peri's life was just about getting through each day as they came, and caring for her mother who is suffering from lung cancer. At first it was just the three of them hunkering down in her mother's ramshackle house with barely any food in the cupboards, as they strived to survive the zombie apocalypse they had found themselves facing.

Until a man tries to drop off Peri's ex husband on their doorstep after he'd had one too many at the bar and the owner (Logan) had to shove him in his truck because he wouldn't leave otherwise.

Then her mother's neighbours Grayson and his mother Barbara join them.

With temperatures vastly dropping and with no way to keep the house warm, and zombies on the prowl, no food in the cupboards their situation is precarious and before the situation escalated they have no other choice but to move to a more equipped place which happens to be Logan's apartment above his bar.

I must admit the mother kind of grated on my nerves a wee bit, ok a lot, I understood she was battling a devastating disease but there was no excuse for treating her daughter’s the way she did. Just the way she spoke to them when they were making her as comfortable as possible. I’ve never felt like jumping into a book more, opening up the door, and letting the zombies go at her. I said what I said.. 65451226-2019570151487824-6157464638251335680-n

Great start to new series!

Escaping The Plague is the first book in a new series that focuses mainly on 3 women (Deb, the mother, Peri, her youngest daughter, and Cora, her sister) as they try to survive a zombie apocalypse made all the more dangerous by a blizzard and subzero temperatures. Deb, Peri and Cora are not a close group and that's evident throughout the book. After a while, they are joined by Logan, Grayson and his mother Barbara. As temperatures fall, tensions heighten. The writing is very good, with good characters, great dialogue, a pace that matches the plot and excellent descriptions of every event and image. Overall, 5/5 stars, highly recommended for fans of zombie horror and apocalyptic survival thrillers, both audiences will greatly enjoy Escaping The Plague! Book 2 can't come soon enough!

Book number one in this specific disaster series by a prolific author who seems to specialise in How Many Ways Can Humans Be Threatened style novels (spoiler alert: we’re doing quite well ourselves, thank you very much). The twin threats of a snowstorm, and a virus that turns people into violent zombie-like creatures sees Peri, her sister, their dying mother (never a strong figure when they were growing up), their neighbour and his mother, and the local bar owner trapped as civilisation as we know it starts to crumble before their eyes. The resolution requires innovation, bravery, lateral thinking, and a bit of a crush on the cute guy.

I have a major love for anything post-apocalyptic/dystopian. Zombies, nuclear war, end of the world? I'll read it. I pray it doesn't actually occur, especially in our current climate, but the what if in these stories is something I do enjoy as a reader. This book starts with our FMC, Peri, seeing a new illness first hand, she is taking care of her mother, who is terminally ill with lung cancer. Peri, her mom, her sister, Cora and the bartender who broughtsa her drunk husband home shelter in place after the news announced a rabies like virus that turned people into zombie like creatures who bite to spread infection. There's a tiny bit of romance between Peri and Logan, the bartender. This book does go from zero to 100 pretty quickly. There's not really much build-up with the virus. All in all, it's a bit predictable, but I enjoyed it. The pacing was good, and it wasn't too long. it took me about 2.5 hrs to read. It does end on a cliffhanger, and i do not believe the second book is out yet...3 stars

This review is for both Escaping the Plague & Fearing the Plague.

I don’t know why I went into this series thinking it was just going to be a natural disaster apocalypse… but I was very pleasantly surprised when zombies showed up 😂🧟‍♀️ Instant bonus points from me! Zombie books are an absolute favourite of mine 😍

We follow 28-year-old Peri as the virus begins to spread, learning what’s happening right alongside her. I always enjoy apocalypse books that start right at the beginning of the outbreak, & this series did a good job of capturing that uncertainty & chaos 😌

This is my first time reading anything by Kellee L. Greene, so I really wasn’t sure what to expect. I’m definitely intrigued to see where the series is heading, especially when it comes to Peri’s relationships. I’m curious to see whether romance will become a bigger part of the story or if it’ll stay focused mainly on survival 👀

One thing I really appreciated was the pacing. There was a good amount of action throughout, so I never felt like the story dragged 🙌 The books are quite short, especially the second one, which made them really easy to fly through. While its not anything that stands out for me in the genre, it is overall just a nice, simple, easy zombie apocalypse survival read 😊

The first two books were released only a couple of months apart, so I’m really hoping the wait for book three isn’t too long 🤞🏼😅 In the meantime, I’ll definitely be checking out more of Kellee L. Greene’s books! 📚

What?! That end!!!

I will never understand how Kellee can pack a book so full of drama while making you care for the characters so quickly. Just what Peri and Cora already went through and not even going to lie, what their mom had to deal with, too. Ugh, these poor ladies didn't need a zombie like apocalypse...they needed a break.
I enjoy the aspect of the virus being rabies like. That's literally so believable as a zombie starter. And how people and government react...accurate. Scarily accurate.

I'm still just reeling over the end of this first book. Like all of that...for...THAT?

Me over here biting my nails until the next one. To see what punishment will be doled out next on these poor characters!

It's cold, it's about to snow, and Peri witnesses an infected person change at a gas station. As she drives to her mother's house, she hears on the radio about a spreading viral infection, and that people should shelter in place, lock all doors and windows, and wait for help.

As you can guess, no help is coming. There's a blizzard, hardly any food, and the electricity goes out. It isn't just the zombies making the stakes sky high. Did I mention that Peri's mom has (CW)

All of this together created a high level of tension. The family drama added to the mess. I enjoyed this, and I'll be reading the next book.

The world quickly descends into chaos leaving strangers, family and neighbors struggling to survive. Peri is doing her best to keep her mom and sister safe from the infected. Before long more survivors join them at her mom’s house. However, time is running out as more infected gather around her mom’s home. Will they survive? Can they stay safely hidden inside her mom’s house? Should they find a new place to stay safe?

I did receive an ARC and I am anxiously waiting for the next book to see what happens to Peri and her group.

Great beginning!

I like the way this one sets up the beginning of the end. On her way to her Mother’s after getting out of work, with a blizzard bearing down, humanity begins its death spiral.
Trapped inside with her mother and sister, the neighbors and the man that brought Peri’s inebriated, infected husband, they have to come to terms with the craziness all around them and figure out how they’re going to escape.
I can’t wait to read more!

A virus is turning people into basically rabid creatures, it seems to start as the flu but then progresses. This story about 5 people trapped in a house, a mother dying of cancer, her 2 daughters, a mother and son neighbours and a stranger who ended up there doing a good deed. They are surrounded by crazies but need to move. Can they make it and what will be the price? Looking forward to the next book.

I usually really enjoy Kellee L. Greene's books and I like this one okay but am not sure I'll continue on with the series. Usually I really enjoy her characters but this time I struggled to like a single character. Nobody was interesting, they were all flat and boring and there's one character I really disliked. The only thing that kept me from giving this 3 stars is the story is good and the action kept me reading.

Loved it!

I love the start of this new series and as usual the author does not disappoint. I can’t wait to start on the next book in this series and find out what happens to this family that I’ve come to care about. Yes, it is a zombie story, but it is more than that. It is about the people that you will come to know and care for.

Amazing author, great character development

Very interesting set of characters. Definitely not the usual exp special forces so beloved by this genre. I was quickly drawn into the family dynamic with the decisions we are forced to make when there is no society (police, doctors, etc.) to make them for you.
Think what you would do in such a horrible situation!
