Regina "Reggie" Webster is a survivor, she has endured more than any person should have to. When she crosses paths with Micah Bentley she just wants him to leave her alone. Micah can't though as Reggie is his mate and he plans to keep her close. If it isn't enough that she is trying to push him away, she has a stalker who is intent on keeping her himself.
This was fairly good, the timeline got a bit jumbled and I was confused in a few spots. I liked Micah and felt Reggie was a good match but wasn't sure if Reggie is supposed to become the alpha or what. Will check out more in the series though.
'Micah' is the first book in Kathi S. Barton's "Bentley Legacy" series and it has everything I've come to know and love about this author's writing. Micah is the oldest of six brothers of original pure blood panther shifters. He has followed in his father's and grandfather's footsteps and joined the police force. He's tried for his entire career to become a detective and it's been denied because he's too good as a beat cop. He and his brother Joey were down by the docks when they see a woman struggling to get a man in a wheelchair down to the dock. As she's starting to leave, the Bentley brothers take it upon themselves to help her back up the hill, but Reggie has been fiercely protecting her brother for the past seven years and she just wants them to leave her and her brother alone. Not being dissuaded, Micah arbitrarily picks Reggie up over his shoulder as Joey pushes the wheelchair up the hill and they then help her brother into the car. Not only have they stuck their noses into her business but had the nerve to follow them to the nursing home to help with getting him back inside the building. That's when Micah marks Reggie. She's a high-strung, fierce woman and with good reason. Life has not made things easy for Reggie or her brother. The twists and turns of a realizing she has a mate she has no time for, a family who is loud and sometimes crosses her boundaries, a psychopathic stalker, being shot by a distraught man wanting the police to end his life, being kidnapped, and then to top it off, adding children to the mix. What a great story to begin a series.

As I had just finished Ms. Barton's series called Calhoun Men & in that series the Bentley's name came up over & over I decided to see if she had written a series that has that name & I found it. This is the 1st book in that series.
Micah was named after his father & also took after his father in his profession, he was a cop. Micah was quitting the force to be his own boss; he wants to be a P.I. He found his mate Reggie one night down at the docks.
Reggie to most people has a tragic past; she goes down several jobs to not only to pay her own bills but to make sure that her handicapped baby brother is taken care of too.
This book was very good as not only did it have a good vs bad plot but the heroine was made out of stronger stuff than you would have thought. There were some sex scenes, some panther scenes, some death scenes & lots of the family helping each other out. I will definitely be reading the next book in this series.
This book was artfully crafted and uniquely designed to pull you into the storyline with the characters and experience everything that they go through with them!
I absolutely loved reading this unique and imaginative storyline that will make all of your emotions come out and you're going to feel like you've been transported to another world where dreams come true and true love is a reality! I'm recommending this book to everyone who loves heroes and heroines that triumphs against evil!
Sometimes life will throw us a curve ball and the only thing you can do is keep on living the best you can. Reggie had the ball thrown at her early in life, fate has put a bill bulls-eye on her back and she just can't get a break. Barely surviving she has no need of a" mate" especially one as bossy as Micah Bently. Micah can hear peoples thoughts, this comes in handy as he is a cop but makes it harder to prove the person is guilty without physical evidence. Getting Reggie to accept him as her mate is not going to be easy, in fact it will be his greatest challenge. Reggie is quite the character, I loved her right from the start. She tells it like it is and takes no prisoners. Micah was different then I thought he would be, the look at him when he was a child made me think he would be a little less gruff but I still liked him. I have to say that Ms. Barton gives her characters some great parental figures. They are interesting and add so much fun to the storyline. This is a relationship that is going to be tested not only by each other but by outside forces. Strong likeable characters, great storylines, interesting topics and some great humor make all Ms. Barton's book an enjoyable read.
New series, new characters and new story lines by Kathi S. Barton help catapult Micah to the top of my "loved it" books. The Bentley Legacy is going to be a great series with lovable alpha men and the women they love. Micah is a cop with a little bit of something extra. Besides being a cop, he is a panther shifter. But that isn't all, he is able to read minds. He has become dissatisfied with being a cop and is getting ready to join in the family business when he meets Reggie. Reggie has not had a great life, her family was murdered years back with only her and her brother surviving. Her brother no longer can speak or walk and is in a nursing home. Well, you know how alpha males are when they find their mates, Reggie finds herself being pursued by a good looking cop who wants to take care of her. Bad guys are lurking and soon, everyone's life will be changing. Some for the good, some not. This is a great start to just one of the new series that Kathi Barton will be introducing this year, and I am excited to see what the next book will bring.
Micah Bentley is a cop and a panther. Regina (Reggie) Webster is struggling trying to stay ahead. She works three jobs and takes responsibility for her invalid brothers care. She tries to pay every month to keep him in a care home. She is out with her brother one day pushing his wheelchair and its uphill and she is struggling. Enter Micah and his brother Joey who want to help her. She doesn't trust people due to her tragic past and she refuses. They step in and help her anyway. When they follow her back to the home and help her again get her brother out of her car, Micah realizes, when he hugs her, she is his mate. Reggie has a man stalking her planning to take her for himself. This is a very good story and not real long. I read it in one evening. This was my first paranormal book and I really did enjoy it. If you want to find out what happens you will have to read this one
Once again Kathi has done a superb job with this new series. Micah who has always wanted to follow in the foot steps of the men in his family became a cop until he felt like it has took his toll. Regina has been dealt a blow in life and struggles to take care of her young brother who was also a victim in a horrific nightmare that her family went through. They meet and Micah realizes that she is his mate and does what he thinks she needs which of course is the total opposite of what she wants. I love the sense of family that we always find in Kathi's books along with a creative storyline, strong heroines, complex characters and alpha men who just gets the blood flowing. All in all a excellent start to a promising series and I can't wait to get to know the rest of the Bentley's men and the women who bring them to their knees.
This book was so flipping good. I didn't want to put it down. I had to force myself to go to sleep. When I wasn't reading this book, I was wondering what would happen next with Micah and Regina (Reggie). I loved how the Prologue showed us what lead to Micah becoming a cop. That incident had such an impact on him, that it helped shape the person he became. Reggie, that poor girl suffered so much. I wanted to hug her. She is such a selfless person that you fall in love with her and want the best for her. That, of course, ends up being Micah. I I love this couple and I am loving this series already. I can't wait to see where Kathi takes us next. Buy this book and stay tuned for the rest. You won't regret it.
Micah knew from the time he was a kid he wanted to be a homicide detective like his dad. But this is one dream that is just not happening for him and now his dad has killed while off duty and he's ready to get out of the business.
Regina aka Reggie has had a tough life. After witnessing the murder of her parents and her brothers abuse by the same people she's working her tail off to make ends meet and support her invalid brother. There's no time for men like Micah who keep saying he's her mate.
But when Reggie is in trouble Micah steps in and will show her she can trust him to help her in her time of need as well as provide her the family she desperately needs for support.
**I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book**
I read this one really quick, I just couldn't stop reading....Micah Bentley is a homicide detective and a panther shifter. He also has a special gift....Micah can read minds.
Reggie Webster is a very hard worker....holding down three jobs to help support not only herself, but her disabled brother. A chance meeting with the beautiful woman and Micah knows she is his mate. Now, Reggie is not a woman to be messed with and she sure doesn't take kindly to all this talk of mates. The stubborn Reggie has Micah's head spinning and his blood boiling to touch her....
When some bad guys have their sights on Reggie, Micah must move quickly to save his mate before it's too late.
I really loved this book and can't wait to read the next in the series.
Micah wanted to be just like his father and grandfather they was a cop .. Micah as he got older he was a cop but a beat cop and was not happy with his job .. Micah was planning on leaving the job in a few weeks . Regina Webster Aka Reggie worked alot to take care of her brother who was in a wheel chair from an accident that had killed her parents .. Well Micah knew that Reggie was his mate .. He was pushy and thought she needed his help .. Reggie didn't want or need his help or his family help !!! She was doing fine until something unexpected happens that leaves her homeless and with no money .. This is the first book in a new series looking forward to reading the next one
Micah was an excellent book. Once I started reading it I could not put it down. I love how Kathi S. Burton's stories are not only paranormal romance but filled with humor, intrigue, and and drama. The characters are well developed, with distinctive personalities. Reggie's take no prisoners attitude was fantastic. I am looking forward to reading more in this series and other works by Ms. Barton.
Micah is another great book by Kathi S Barton. A definite must read. Micah is a cop - a panther who can read minds.
Reggie is just trying to make ends meet - working 3 jobs and taking care of her brother who is paralized and can't talk. Reggie is in trouble.
Micah finds out that Reggie is his mate - he doesn't want one but it happens anyways. Reggie gets kidnapped along with Micah's mom. No spoilers but you most definitely will want to read this - would recommend to everyone.
I was given a copy of this book by the author for my honest review. Micah know he needs to change jobs but he did not know he was going to have more change come in to his life. Reggie is a survivor taking care of her brother. Reggie has a stalker. she is hurt and left homeless with out a car and money. She need help but has a hard time taking it. Can't wait to see the next book in the series.
4.5 Stars - Micah is the first in Kathi S. Barton's new Bentley Legacy series. I have been a fan of Ms Barton's for several years and this is a prime example of her writing. She creates wonderful characters that you fall in love with, can root & cheer for, and pray that they get their happy ending. What a wonderful tale.
Brand new series from Kathi. Great new series. I was a bit miffed at Micah for being rotten to reggae to begin with but as always he comes to his senses and mans up!! This series has more brothers for us to fall in love with and that's exactly what will happen. Reggie was such a broken soul and the scenes with her brother were very emotional. Can't wait for more.
This was an amazing read that I really enjoyed. It moved along at a fabulous pace, has totally wonderful and amazing characters and a story that will not let you down. This book will keep your interest from the beginning all the way to the end, there is no doubt about it. This book must be read. I cannot wait to read more from this wonderful author.
Such a mess. The writing was awkward and hard to follow. The conversations between characters jumped around so much it was difficult to know who was talking. Pass for me.
I have read most series from this author. I just couldn't get into this book, not sure what it is about that I don't like .I love paranormal books just not this one.
