Protecting My Peace…At All Costs

Rate this book
A story she's been wanting to tell—and one her fans have been waiting to hear.

Garcelle Beauvais has spent decades in the public on runways, on sets, on red carpets, and on one of the most-watched reality franchises in television history. She has been celebrated, scrutinized, underestimated, and respected. And through all of it, she kept showing up—for her career, for her sons, for her friendships, for the rooms that didn't always make space for her. Now, in her own voice, Garcelle tells the story behind the most important decision she ever made—choosing herself.

Written and narrated by Garcelle, Protecting My At ALL Costs is intimate, unfiltered, and unmistakably her. She traces her journey from a childhood in Haiti to the runways of New York; from the early years of a Hollywood career, she built with discipline and grace to her time on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills—and the moment she walked away.

She speaks about raising three sons as a single mother and what that love taught her about herself. She speaks about friendship—what it looks like when it's real, what it costs when it isn't, and what it means to let go of someone who no longer chooses you back. She speaks about race, identity, and what it means to walk into rooms as a Black Haitian woman and refuse to leave any part of yourself at the door.

And most crucially, she speaks about peace—not as a destination, but as a daily, deliberate practice. The kind that requires you to trust your instincts, honor your boundaries, and choose yourself even when it's hard.

Especially when it's hard.

"Access is earned. Not everyone belongs in the front row of my life" "No is a complete Sentence"
Garcelle Beauvais.
Once again, Garcelle hit it out the park with this book. I love how she discussed the stories in her life and the lessons learned without throwing anyone under the bus (unlike Lisa Rinna). Her stories are so full of life and I love how she discussed her time on the housewives as a lesson and even though she discussed things that happened (being called out for supposedly not paying the donation to charity, that final reunion) she never called any of her castmates out directly or threw them under the bus. She even talked about how friendships sometimes only have a season (in talking about her friendship with Sutton) and that there's times you have to wish people the best and move on. She talks about her words of 2026 (which I could relate to) which are alignment and discernment.

Garcelle also has a beautiful voice which makes listening to the audiobook all that much more enjoyable. I highly recommend this read and you don't need to be a housewives fan to enjoy this one.

I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. Hearing Garcelle Beauvais narrate her own story made it feel personal, warm, and honest in a way that only works when the author tells it themselves. As someone who misses seeing her on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, this felt like such a nice catch-up, but also much deeper and more reflective than what we usually get to see on screen.

I really enjoyed hearing more about her relationships, motherhood, career, and where she came from. The book feels very grounded and self-aware without trying too hard, and I liked how honest and reflective she was throughout. It honestly felt less like a celebrity memoir and more like listening to someone thoughtfully talk through their life and everything that shaped them.

I miss her so much on RHOBH! One of my favorite housewives in the entire franchise. The audiobook version is the way to go since she narrates it.
