Haven is always looking for sexy men to become part of the Ebony Nights family. But as Chicago’s premiere escort agency specializing in the finest Black men the city has to offer, there is a reputation to uphold. Haven’s female clients demand perfection. Their date must look good on their arm and perform in their bed, so Haven must make sure all her employees live up to her clients’ expectations.
Malik is looking for a job, and when his ex-girlfriend suggests he apply to Ebony Nights, he decides to give it a try. Serving as company for women as they attend their country club events sounds like fun, and the rumor is there’s a lot of money to be made in this business.
What Malik doesn’t know is that sitting across from Haven’s desk and answering some questions is just the first part of the interview; it’s in the room next to her office where he’s going to have to prove if he can rise to Haven’s expectations.
This is an erotic, 5,000-word short centered on female pleasure and a male escort working hard to provide it. There isn’t a happy ever after, but everyone definitely leaves happy.
Elisabeth Roseland spends her days dreaming up ways to throw sexy heroes and strong heroines together. Her characters explore the wonderful, agonizing, joyful, heartbreaking and complicated human experiences that are sex and love, with a little fantasy thrown in for good measure. She also hopes to inspire readers to grab the nearest consenting adult and do something fun. She lives in Chicago with her very own Happily Ever After.
Just finished this ARC of The Interview and listen… I was NOT prepared 😭
Short, spicy, straight to the point — but I’m lowkey mad it ended so fast. I needed more depth, more story, MORE everything.
👀 What I liked:
* The concept is 🔥 — male escort agency centered around women’s needs? Say less. * Haven’s character? Confident, in control, knows EXACTLY what she wants. * The chemistry? Immediate. No slow burn here 😭 * It delivers what it promises… like very directly.
🤨 What held it back:
* It’s super surface-level. No real buildup, no emotional depth. * Malik? We barely get to know him beyond the moment. * The “interview” itself is basically the whole story — no real plot progression beyond that. * It reads more like a scene than a full story, if that makes sense.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ — entertaining, spicy, but blink and it’s over. Overall a good super short read! Will definitely check out the others in the series.
I received an advanced readers copy for an honest review of The Interview by Elisabeth Roseland.
My expectations were honestly non-existent as this was my first dip into her writing but I loved it for what it was.
For a story with such few pages you got what you needed out of it, a little connection, a quick and thorough scratch for your itch & honestly more depth imo than some longer books have.
I love short stories with a great intro into what would be a promising future. Something you can imagine the rest of the story as whatever you want. She did not disappoint.
There was banter. There was connection. There was satisfaction.
My 5 star rating is because there was nothing to complain about, I would 100% dive into the series solely on this short story (and I will). It gave me what I needed.
Whew! This one right here was short, quick, and straight to the point! I was not ready for how fast it jumped into things 😂
There’s not much of a plot, but that makes sense since it’s a short story meant to be a quick little scratch—not something long and drawn out. I do wish we had gotten to know Malik a bit more, though. He definitely had me curious.
The chemistry and spice between Malik and Haven? Oh, it was there 👀🔥 If you’re looking for something entertaining, fast-paced, and a little spicy to hold you over between reads, this one will do the job just fine.
The Interview was a quick and spicy read. I feel like I was just getting into the story and it was already done.
Haven is the lifestyle club owner and Malik is pushed to apply for a new job at the club by his ex-girlfriend. However, the job entails a little more than what he was expecting. In his interview with Haven, a few simple questions leads to some interview roleplay to see how he would handle various situations while in the position. Being the fine and handsome man on the arms of some affluent ladies of the city may require more than what he bargained for.
Grab this quick read and find out how good or bad Malik's interview goes.
Just finished reading this short, read The Interview. I thought that this short read was very appealing definitely very spicy got to the point in the first chapter. The only thing that I wish there was more depth to this read maybe more to the story. It definitely left me sitting on the edge of my seat, wanting to know what happened next.
So I got an ARC of this. Ya'll it did not disappoint. His interview was good. She talked to him and then made him back it up. His ex sent him to the company and boy. He did not disappoint. Go read this short. The spice. So good.
