The archives are alive. The Church lied. And the man they tried to bury is standing at the gate.
The capital doesn't work the way the frontier did. The enemies wear titles instead of armor. The weapons are subpoenas, tribunal votes, and forged evidence planted in guild offices. And the Seneschal has spent twelve years building the kind of institutional power that a level 63 Summoner can't cut through with a blade.
The AI written garbage Does not get better in book 3 it actually gets worse. Details established in book 1 and book 2 are changed to fit whatever circumstances The AI needed. The AI can't even remember it's own story so details tend to change. You still have A teenager Having sex with grown women. It was established in book 1 that the male is a teenager And the youngest female in the group as of book 3 is 21 but she has been sealed away in a magic prison for 600 years. The spy is over 22 years old because 1 of the things that she learned it said in this book that she learned it at the age of 22. The spy Is definitely older Because she is the foundation for an entire orders Spy network. She's also the best that it produced. The record keeper Is also older. Claims to have built parts of the architecture that has kept the churches secret For 600 years. The politics are also stupid. Let me explain, If you are an institution And you have a person that can bring down your institution You don't set up the conditions for that to happen You kill the person. You don't leave him alive you don't beating you don't torture him you don't set up the conditions for him to be betrayed by his party and wind up with a mythical skill. In the very 1st dungeon you go into you slit his throat possibly stab him in the back cut his head off and leave his Body for the dungeon to eat. So everything could have been avoided if they killed the MC when they 1st learned what his skill was. Politics avoided. Now here's a couple of things that have irritated me these girls have gone through many dungeons with him And not a single 1 of them has raised a level except for him. He is now level 70 at the end of this book. Which means there could have been and should have been plenty of experience for his other party members to raise levels. The other thing that's really bothered me Is the lack of loot. There is loot early on and some of it is described but it's very quickly just become a side note they got the loot and they left. Kind of stuff no description no telling of what happened to the loot. Nobody actually using the loot.
.01/10 AI written books should be banned. Nobody should be able to cheat And make a profit off of this kind of drivel. It's not even a Good story And it destroys the effort that actual authors put into their works.
Took way too long to move through all the political machinations, too many repetitive relationship affirmations and just not enough forward momentum. All of that, and it resolves essentially none of the challenges which date back to the first book.
I have started writing a series myself, so I can't help but think (based on my experience) that the author is padding the story to drag it out to more books. I'll probably read book 4 just to get closure, but if that doesn't close this out I'm done.
I am literally confused that so many people gave five star ratings. The book is a collection of incorrect data, inconsistencies, repeated sentences, Etc. The whole magic system and skills are never explained. Each person gets one skill and that’s it. No abilities no nothing. Below are only a few of the issues that made me stop reading this series. 1 He’s a summoner who after the second deep pull stops summoning, except when the system does it for him. No more summoning better gear for him or his party? 2 Each pull the author says is going deeper into the archive is actually more recent in the timeline. From the very first deep pull, you are led to believe no one knows how long the summoned has been dead yet the book already has how many years they’ve been dead. Then start getting the years wrong. 3 The dungeon mechanics are ridiculous. There’s no standard party that would ever be able to clear those dungeons. Oh, and don’t forget the statement that the dungeons are learning and adjusting their mechanics which should make them more difficult each time. You should be hearing about party wipes and dungeon overflows all the time. 4 The Phantom who is hyper aware of everything going on around the party and their intelligence gatherer. Warns the MC repeatedly that Lyssa is only out for herself not to be trusted yet as soon as she appears to be helping them, phantom stops monitoring her and lets sensitive information get out. 5 The second pull arrives naked and wears poorly fitting clothes for weeks (don’t know why the MC didn’t buy better clothes) but later, all of a sudden she’s got her council robes, and he references some kind of recall storage. 6 The MC’s party beating the hero party in a dungeon run is this big deal? Yet his party had more members and much higher levels than the heroes party. They should be ashamed it was any contest at all. The church sanctioned and wanted competition? That fiasco made no sense. 7 OK last thing, it’s never explained why the archive is imprisoning some dead people’s souls. Book 3 says it’s because they have some knowledge but…These people are DEAD! It’s never mentioned that resurrection is a thing. Possibly other random summoners may be able to pull souls.
I enjoyed this installment of the series more than the previous one, as it was cleaner and more focused.
The MC has headed to the capital, and it looks like we are heading for a conclusion of sorts. The person ultimately behind his original assassination attempt has been identified, and their plots are starting to be exposed.
A new summon happens in this book, probably the last one the MC will make if I had to guess. And her romance is zero, as she almost immediately asks to have sex with him. We're talking same day as they meet, because she's touch starved. That didn't work nearly as well as the previous 4 women did, all of whom built more of a relationship with the MC before getting intimate.
I have to imagine book 4 will be the last, and I look forward to reading it.
This was the worst book of the series. The dungeon dives were basically rince and repeat. There’s no continuity in the leveling up system. He beats a boss 8 levels above him and gets raised 2 levels. Then beats another boss 6 levels higher and gets nothing. WTF. There’s also not 1 mention of loot drops or material collection. How are they paying for anything? Then there’s the sleeping arrangements. Anyone who has slept in a double bed knows 2 people ok 3 people is tight. 5 people is totally impossible!!! This is a teenage boy sex fantasy. I won’t be reading the next book. And it’s too bad because the original concept was good.
This felt very repetative through the dungeon dives and the conversations. Things seemed to be said over and over again to where it just felt bland. Add to that the dialog being so weirdly stilted in their responses to each other, basically every conversation seems to have each person repeating half of what the previous person said every time they talk. and I think I've had enough.
This has taken an extremely political course, which leaves it very dry. The many harem scenes feel out of place rather than reinforce human moments. This would have made a good film, it is a very boring book that is far too long for very little story progression. While important plot points were addressed, they were in-between very stale segments.
I liked the story and characters, but had to speed read the book as the prose is 60 percent plus repetitive. I assume it is A I generated and written in the poetic prose of anadiplosis. Just too, too much. I'm sick of it now. A human rewrite could condense the story to one book, and it would be good.
I didn’t leave a review on book 2 because I was in such a hurry to download book 3. This series is just incredible. It has everything the reader hopes for in a 5-star series - brilliant writing, action-packed adventures and characters that grab you on book 1, page 1 and never let go. I’m very eager for book 4!
It's a good story. Generally good system architecture. My only real problem is that after the first book, there's tons of plot and fa tual inconsistencies. Also, the speech patterns from everybody suddenly became less natural and more repetitive and robotic. It's weird.
The MC and his team fight the powers that have hijacked the system. They will not surrender their power willingly. But the MC’s party exposes the truth, despite assassination attempts, political attacks and eventually military action. All designed to return power to those who hijacked it.
The series' worst book and probably the last one I'll buy. I like the premis, but the writing is terrible. I wonder if it's AI written. The character interactions are made up off short sentences, some desciptions of the surrounding area are very long. There is no good flow in this book.
A story of revenge, and a group discovering each other, and themselves. There's also a bit of philosophy tucked away so be prepared for some deep thinking. Look forward to the next and what I'm guessing will be the final book.
