She was ready to start over in a new location-finally fulfilling her dreams.

Teresa Wright hits the road after putting her house on the market and heads to Sanderling Pointe Island, determined to take care of herself for a change. But an unexpected house guest at her rental threatens to upend her life-and her new beginning.

Facing the past head-on was not on Tess's itinerary for this trip. But life offered her a second chance to make things right with her first love, Lucas Miller. Still grieving the loss of his wife, Luke isn't the man she once knew-and Tess can't help but wonder if lasting love is still possible for either of them.

As her lifelong goal of opening an art gallery seems all but lost, Teresa worries she made the wrong choice by coming to the island.

What are the odds that everything will turn out in her favor?

Sometimes fighting for your dreams comes at a cost. But in the end, love is worth the risk.

This book is a great weekend read. The chapters go quickly and keep the plot moving. It’s also an island setting so would be fun to read on the beach as you get slathered in sunscreen. iYKYK.
The story does have moments of prayer when the characters find themselves in difficult times, but was felt authentic and well placed within the story.
The male lead, Lucas, is not your typical MMC. He comes across a little stiff in personality at times but you do get to see small peeks at the young man the FMC Tess fell in love with. In those moments he is playful and brings out the youthful side of Tess too. Lucas is imperfect but in a way that doesn’t burn down the chance for forgiveness. He experiences periods of anxiety which makes him more relatable too.
Tess comes to the island with a plan to stay after she separated from her children’s father. She is there to enjoy this new chapter of her life and live the way she’s wanted to in the place where her heart first belonged to Lucas. She’s definitely a dreamer but has a good head on her shoulders. Not the stereotypical flighty artist type.
What’s interesting to me is it’s almost as if Tess and Lucas switched roles when they lost touch with each other. In their youth, Tess seemed more serious, wanting to be a lawyer and Lucas was more messy and playful. As adults Lucas is a serious guy in finance and Tess is a messy artist. It reminded me of the yin/yang symbol that was popular in the late 90’s. Perhaps it is the way they cope with losing touch with one another.
I’m typically a 3-4 spice level reader, but I am always game to try books at all spice levels. This sweet romance had several scenes with kisses which was honestly more than I expected, given the genre. For those of you wondering, there is no innuendo that they sleep together during the story nor any fade-to-black moments. While the story is probably more relatable to a 30+ year old reader, it would be perfectly safe for younger readers to enjoy too. Definitely worth checking out!

I was able to read this book prior to launch day as part of the Author's Launch Team.

This was a cute, fun, easy to read love story. I enjoyed the character development and the vivid location details. I was able to envision the island, buildings, cars etc. I felt like | had visited there myself! This is a beautiful feel good story that I would recommend to anyone who is looking for clean and wholesome romance books. Or even those of us spicy reads that need a palate cleanser between spicy novels.

I gave this book 4.25 stars (on apps that allow for partial stars)because I loved the story so much. I am stingy with my stars and for me I personally missed some of the intimacy or even spice that could have been added. That said it is a fantastic story and I can't wait to read book 2!! I hope you join me!

This is a great book for summer! Follow Lucas and Teresa on a second chance journey that is full of surprises. Just when you think you know what is going to happen next there is a surprise. I enjoyed how the characters alternated between chapters so you get to see their thoughts, dreams and goals. Can not wait for the next book!
