(Lone Wolf, Book 1) Agent Sherri Walker needs a change of scenery. Her former lover nearly tanked her career, forcing her to take a leave of absence. A few drinks and a one-night stand with a sinfully hot stranger look like a great way to take her mind off her troubles, until that stranger’s past lands her in a new world of danger. Asher Hughes left his outlaw pack but couldn’t ditch the bad blood. A lone wolf who’s always refused to bond, Ash is left wanting more after one night with a beautiful, spirited human. Worse, it puts Sherri in the crosshairs of an old pack enemy, and the only way to save her is to claim her as his own.
Elisabeth Staab loves passionate stories and happy endings. Her books have been called “emotionally delicious,” “action-packed,” and “gloriously snarky.” When not writing romance about vampires and werewolves and emotionally wounded boxers (oh, my!), she enjoys date night with her husband, reading with her kids, and marathoning her favorite books or TV series. Keep up with all the latest shenanigans by following her newsletter, stopping by ElisabethStaab.com, or finding her on Facebook and Twitter.
To say that Sherri’s life, both professionally and personally, had gone to hell in a handbasket recently would be an understatement. After the betrayal of her now thankfully former boyfriend and the mess he created for her at work, Sherri has been demoted, relocated and is now on an enforced “vacation” before taking up her new duties. She figures she’s lucky to still even have a career, but damn, how could she have been so blindsided.
Shifters are not unknown in this world building. Perhaps not a well known fact, instead of myth, still the wolves are a natural part of this world. While many people still make the occasional snide remark, or really in bad taste kind of joke, we find wolf shifters in all aspects of society.
Sherri hasn’t come in contact with a shifter before. And at first, she didn’t realize that the hot, sexy male who roared up to her hotel on his motorcycle was a shifter. She just saw a ruggedly handsome guy with an “I’m a bad boy” attitude stride into the hotel lobby and out of sight.
Asher has had enough of his brother messing with his business. Tonight he’s confronted Jojo at the hotel bar where he’s working. After a heated argument with some serious chest thumping, Ash notices that no one in the bar is really paying attention to the fight with his brother … except that beauty at a table for one, who is obviously reaching for a gun that’s not where it’s supposed to be, watching the confrontation from across the bar.
Sherri keeps a concerned eye on the obvious fight going on between the handsome stranger and the small, irritating man behind the bar. While her first instinct to protect and serve halted when she realized she wasn’t carrying her weapon, she still kept a close watch on the situation. To her surprise once the fight ended, the sexy aggressor walked straight across the bar and sat down across from her.
Ash didn’t do relationships. Hell, he didn’t do second dates. But this woman pulled at him and if she was up for it, he’d gladly spend some serious sexual time with the fearless lady. Sherri didn’t do one night stands. But for this man she would rethink that rule. She was off duty, totally messed up and for once a night of hot, intense sex with a stranger wasn’t a bad idea at all.
Wild Nights with a Lone Wolf was a completely hot, sexy, intense and enjoyable read. While a relatively short story, it packed a punch with characters that jumped off the pages. I loved Ash. A kick ass, take care of business kind of man, he took himself out of his pack when he disagreed with his father’s tendency to go along with his younger brother’s illegal activities. Ash and his brother Jett stepped away from the pack, but that certainly didn’t take them away from pack troubles.
The sexual attraction was hot between Sherri and Ash. And even though it started as a one night of sex , it wasn’t farfetched to me when they continued working the obvious attraction.
I enjoyed this novella and look forward to finishing the storyline in the next one. There are more stories to tell with the other characters introduced in this one, and their tales should be just as intense as this first couple. If you’re a shifter fan, love paranormal romance and absolutely pant over a hot, sexy alpha male claiming his mate – this one is for you. Go for it.
*I received an e-ARC of Wild Nights with a Lone Wolf from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
Wild Nights with a Lone Wolf, Elisabeth Staab Genre: Romance, Fantasy/Paranormal Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews This is a shortish book at around 160 pages. That works for many readers though, like a friend of mine who has limited time and says she really wants to finish a book, while still remembering how it started ;-) For me though, I prefer longer ones to give a more in-depth story. Still, its well written, and the characters and plots are very clear. I liked the intensity between Sherri and Ash, I could feel the pull of attraction. They’re both wary of anything more than a quick one nighter but once they are together they find it hard to switch off thoughts of the other and move forward. This brings them into some very real dangers. The length restrictions mean its a fairly simplistic read, with one main plot, some danger and lots of steamy sex scenes. They were well written and fitted perfectly. The bad guys too, they were well drawn, and I found it easy to dislike them and want for Sherri and Ash to succeed in their endeavour to get through the dangers safely. Its a standalone story, no cliff-hangers ( hurrah!) and I could see more books coming from these characters. Its labelled Book One so I’m assuming there are more to follow. Certainly the characters are strong enough to stand up to more books. Stars: Four, a decent though short read. ARC provided by Netgalley and publishers
Sherri is on a forced leave of absense from her work as agent, when she finds herself in the hotel bar, flirting with a gorgeous biker. What was supposed to be a one night stand, turns into more when she´s first tricked into meeting him again by the barkeep, and later abducted and smack in the middle of a shifter brawl. Asher doesn´t do second dates, but Sherri awakens something within, and when she ends up in the middle of trouble, he sees no other outcome than going in after her. Quick read, shifters and smut in a great combo.
Action packed PNR romance with hot scenes and lots of tension - Highly Recommend
For adults only (18+ years old). Contains subject matter that may be offensive, sensitive or inappropriate for some, including adult language, intimate scenes and violence (kidnapping, fighting, death).
Sherri and Ash meet when she has decided to take a 2-week vacation before starting a new position in Arizona. She is a federal agent and found out that the guy she was in a relationship for over 2 years used her to help his criminal boyfriend evade justice. Needless to say, relationships are not something that she has on her agenda, but when she sees Ash into it with another male, she is attracted. Then he approaches her and she decides to try something that she has never done before, color outside the lines and have a one-night stand.
Only it seems that she stumbled into a situation between half-siblings that could cost her dearly, or save her life, and she is not sure which ...
If you like action packed shifter romance novels, with a sense of humor and hot scenes, then I highly recommend this one. This is the first novella that I have read by Elisabeth Staab, but I am looking forward to the next edition to this series.
I ordered this from Gay Fiction section, and that's not what this was, and because I wasn't expecting a het story, I had a hard time getting into it. While this was well written and well plotted, it wasn't what I was expecting (through no fault of the author).
I am a huge fan of Elisabeth Staab's fangtabulous Chronicles of Yavn series and was beyond thrilled when I was given a review copy of her novella Wild Nights with a Lone Wolf. While I'm still bummed that my Heroes with fangs have come to a close, I'm excited about this new world that Ms. Staab created.
Wild Nights with a Lone Wolf was everything I've come to expect from an Elisabeth Staab story. It was action-packed, super smexy, snarky, and hooked me from page one.
Asher Hughes is a hotter than hell, lone wolf who severed ties with his old pack due to the illegal nature of their business. He went on to create a life for himself, even though he gets dragged back into pack business on occasion. As much as he would love to keep his distance and/or tell them all to frak off, they're family.
Agent Sherri Walker is relocating due to issues at work. I won't go into detail as it's important to Sherri's character development, but I will say that Sherri was betrayed by someone she trusted and is now getting some much needed R&R before starting her new job. Last thing she expected was to end up bringing a stranger back to her hotel room, to have her naughty way with. Sherri has read about and researched werewolves, but she had never met one until Ash walked into her life. She may not have been looking to get involved in werewolf politics, but she ended up right in the middle of it.
The world building and character development in Wild Nights with a Lone Wolf were both really strong, Ash is unbelievably hot *swoons*, Sherri was snarky and fun, the smexy times are aplenty, the dedicated was spot on (cause David Gandy is the shite!), and the novella left me wanting more in this world.
Ash and Sherri were great together and I hope that we will get more of them. I'd love to see how their budding relationship plays out and if they can make it work. I'd also really, really like more of Jett and Kyle. I give Wild Nights with a Lone Wolf 4 stars.

Sherri Walker is a good agent but after her last boyfriend betrayed her and almost ended her career Sherri is on forced leave before taking up her new post in Phoenix.
Asher Hughes is a lone wolf choosing to separate himself from his vicious father and the Los Lobos Muertos pack he keeps to his land but that doesn't the pack won't still cause him trouble.
Sherri first crosses paths with Asher when she arrives in town and Asher cross paths again at the bar where he is having a heated discussion with another man. Seeing Sherri, Ash finds himself drawn to her and it is not long before their attraction to each other causes Sherri to forget her inhibitions and invite Ash to her room. But will that be her second mistake because soon she will find herself kidnapped by his former pack and Ash will be her only way out but at what cost. Can Ash keep Sherri safe and will Sherri still be there when this nightmare is over.
It was phenomenal! Ash is a great hero. He is super rough and tough, but has his soft qualities too. Everything was very well balanced and I really enjoyed him. I thought Sherri was great too! It was cool to see her take a walk on the wild side. One of my favorite things about this story was how you could tell Ash and Sherri each had a complicated history. They are mentioned in the book, but do not overshadow the craziness that the two experience in just a couple of days. Everything was exciting...the story, the characters, the dialogue, the body language. It was all done very well! I really really really hope this is the beginning of a series. I'm not ready to let these characters go just yet. I received this story in exchange for an honest review, but I'm planning on purchasing the box set.
From what I can gather this novella and the following ones make up a full novel. The first can be read alone, as it has some kind of resolution. But I can't say it has a strong, gripping writing. Maybe with a more tight plot, a smoother style, it would have been a better reading experience for me. The idea is interesting, but the format is too short, and it takes a very skilled writer to give me a good feeling with shorter stories. Here I got a silly/messy world building, not enough characterization (some back story isn't enough), half a plot with some holes too.
I really like this book! This is different type of werewolf story. It's also refreshing that there was no instant love. Just a sexual attraction and a what starts out as a one night stand. Ash is drool worthy. He is estranged from his criminal family, when he is dragged back in by his half brother. Sherri has been kidnapped and is to be sold as a slave. Of course Ash comes to the rescue. This is the first of a trilogy, and I have to say I bought the other two. I loved them! I was given a copy of this book by NetGalley for an honest review.
A short read but a great one! Sherri, betrayed by her now ex-boyfriend, moves to phoenix. Asher choosing the lone wolf life, after a huge fight with his father & pack. Crossing paths repeatedly, Asher finds himself drawn to Sherri. Soon to find herself kidnapped by the pack, and only Ash can save her. Extremely great read. Characters were written with depth. The pace and the storyline… I just ate it up. I loved this read. Review By http://werevampsromance.blogspot.com/ (Reviews, Giveaways & More)
I have several books by Elisabeth Staab and have loved each and every one. This book starts out with Sherri being rejected by her lover and then her bosses. They sent her to Arizona and lowering her in rank. She meets Ash and they connect to each other.. He would fight anybody who tried to hurt her including his family. There is romance and plenty of action in this book.. It is worth reading!!!
The story was exceptionally good I recommend this book highly plenty of action, suspense an a lot of intense romance with HEA ending. You wanted to root for Ash an Sherri as they go thru these chain of events that thru it all they find true happiness an love along the way.
I really love what this author did with these characters. She has a great sense of humor and it shows in this story. The story line it self was a very good read. I would definitely recommend this book.
I admit I expected the usual: guy meets girl for one night stand, girl is in danger, guy saves girl by turning into a werewolf, they discover they are fated mates and love each other, they marry and live hea.
This is not what happens here.
First, Sherri knows Ash is a were within two minutes, because in this reality werewolves are out, and have a small number of packs. Second, no fated mates. There are bonded mates, but that's a ceremony like marriage, and can be broken or divorced. Third, no marriage (yet). They know each other a few days after all. Fourth, it was well written, with snark, humor, developed secondary characters and no typos.
While this does not end in a cliffhanger, it is still the first part of a series about the same couple. But the ending is an actual ending, so you can stop there if you want and you will still enjoy the book
In short, thoroughly enjoyed it, much more than I expected.
Semi-standalone, see above. 3rd person pov, mostly following Sherri and Ash, but some other characters also have pov. Violence is mostly cartoonish but not only. Steamy.
3.5 stars. Sherri is an FBI agent who transferred to Phoenix after the fall out of a bad relationship. Ash is a lone wolf who has left his pack as he didn't like the illegal activities going on within the pack. What starts out as a one-night stand turns into a relationship.
There's the requisite danger to test the couple. The ending is a HFN / beginning of a relationship. Good read given it's a novella.
This is the first in a series of three novellas that will completely tell Ash and Sherri's story. From the other book blurbs, you'll get a couple of romances with secondary characters introduced in this book.
I'm getting really frustrated and tired of author's chopping up what should be one book into a series. While this one was easy and quick to read, it's more appealing to just make the entire story into one book.
I did get this one for free and am debating continuing the series.
Sherri had to be relocated after her ex almost cost her her job as an agent. She's forced to take a two week vacation before she starts at the new office. At a bar in the hotel, Sherri meets a handsome stranger who buys her a drink. Asher left his wolf pack and runs a restaurant. They spend one night together but Asher can't get her off his mind. A body is found on Asher's property and there's a familiar smell on it. He goes straight to his old pack and his father's house. His half brother has kidnapped Sherri and plans to trade her. Asher claims Sherri is his mate and now they'll have to bond. Can Asher get them out of the mess his family has gotten them into? Good story. Sex. Shifters. Action. Neither are looking for a commitment but that might be what they need. * This is the first of this three part story *
Staab has written a fast-paced easy read that has some good action, romance and a bit of altered reality. You see there is a species of werewolves that live in the western half of the United States. The FBI has even developed training for dealing with them because they tend to run in gangs or packs if you will. Did I lose you? This is a really fun read, so if you are looking for something light and entertaining, this is great! Just wait until you see how much Agent Walker likes it when Asher growls!
Ash and Sherri’s story has the best characters and world building by a new to me Author !! It has lust, love, hate, and a never ending supply of bad guys !! If you like your PNR with a touch of the real world, this is a good one for you to read. * That being said there are triggers for sexual abuse, kidnapping and murder, be cautious if that might upset you. 4✨’s
There is not really enough meat here to have a strong opinion on this paranormal romance. There are a few twists on expected tropes and snarky characters to learn about. The shortened length means it doesn't waste user time. It's still ridiculous family melodrama ramped up by gang associations, lust between almost strangers, and thin world building but it is only the starting episode for this universe.

A quirky tale, a one night stand, will it lead to more? Just what kind of vacation is she having? Getting over a cheating ex, she jumps from the frying pan straight into the fire! Is anyone who they are supposed to be? Is everyone a criminal? A fantastic adventure that crabs you and keeps you hooked till the end!
I really enjoyed this book! Ash has split from his Pack. Sherrie is on vacation after splitting from the cheating ex! When they meet, they both throw their old selves out the window. She lives for the moment and he wants commitment. A great, gripping, saucy adventure which leaves you wanting more!
This book had so much potential, it was so short that there was little to no world building, character development, love story development, plot for the book to be well rounded.
I'm so sad I would have loved to have 300 more pages, developmening the plot, story lines and just seeing the characters together in not a kidnapped in chapter 4 kind of way.
Fresh out of the academy Sherri is demoted and reassigned. She decides to take some R&R and has a fling with Ash. A sensual, suspenseful paranormal romance novella. I enjoyed this read.
You will love this book! I fell in love with the characters in this book a few I wanted to kick in the crotch. You will feel like you are right there with them on an emotional roller coaster. I can't wait for some more from Elizabeth Staab.
I liked it! The storyline is well thought out and the mix of steam and action is excellent. It has an ending, but the second book continues Ash & Sherri's story, so I'm definitely going to read it.
