I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
My actual stars are 3.5, but stars allowed are full stars, so I rounded up to 4.
The concept behind this story makes for an incredible story. The amount of detail provided in this story is a lot.
I personally was not a fan of the way in which the story was delivered. I felt like the POV method was a little scattered. The fact that we don't see the crossing of paths until so far into the book, it leaves you a little disappointed.
Again, the concept is perfect, but the delivery could have been executed differently. The pace could have been a little faster paced in some of the chapters.
ARC reader here, I got a copy from the author on BookSirens.
I liked the concept; the author is clearly quite imaginative. It is a unique story with the high and low Draconians, reptilian overlords feeding off our negative emotions, and ancient Egyptian gods in the mix. I can't think of another book like it.
However, the pacing/timeline felt a little off to me as we follow our main characters Sergio and Kit. By the end of the book, the two timelines don't converge as one might expect. I think I can see where we would go for book 2 by the end, if that is the plan.
This is so intensely imaginative, in all the best ways possible! Kit’s character is so deeply relatable, she feels like someone I could be best friends with in real life. I love how the author turned the characters struggles into something magical and profound, especially Saergo. I was immersed through every single page, I couldn’t put it down! I love the imagery she used, the tastes and sounds and smells. This book is the craziest dream you could ever have, in the best way possible! I can’t wait to see what happens in the next one.
