I came across this book in a free mini library in Belgium. I've never been to Jamaica and I don't know anyone who's lived there, so to me these where just plain stories. Nothing very exciting, but it is a handy little book to fit in a handbag and the individual stories are really short so ideal to read when you're in a waiting room.

This book may not be completely true but it is however very intriguing. Not the best book in the world but one that definitely needs to be read.

The stories are good, but unless you have an interest in the colonial era of Jamaica, it might be kind of tedious.

What a chore it was to read this book.

The collection of "tales" centers on British (or occasionally Spanish) individuals living in Jamaica, but there's nothing distinctly Jamaican about the people or the events. Aside from a rare mention of a town or parish, the stories could easily be set anywhere in the Caribbean.
