Is overall an okay book. I'm a little disappointed with the story. Just a little bit..
*SPOILER*
... because I thought there's more secret than just about the tourists. I suspect s0 since Rahim was a little bit apprehensive. Also the book didn't focus much on Rahim as much as it did on Jasper/Patrick/Hank since I thought he has his own secret apart from being gay and having to lost a person while guiding. I also expected that the grave that Jasper found out Rahim visited would be elaborated more cause I was thinking it's related to the lost person but that's as far as it was on. I also got the impression on the title and book cover that there's dark secret about the jungle but the story was more focused on the tourist.
I like the themes brought by the author: love, family, internal conflicts, betrayal, and endless lies. However, the exciting plots came a bit late. The early part of the book focused too much on the journey without any truly interesting plot points. I yawned a hundred times, tbh.
I loved all the characters and how their roles helped to form a good story. Nevertheless, I was quite disappointed with Rahim’s character. The author should have focused more on him—he had so much potential to make the story even better. For example, he ended up being secretive for no real reason. His character and backstory should have been elaborated further.

Finished it in one day. which tells you that the story was interesting enough to grab my attention and made me not want to stop reading. There are lots of adventure and also drama (of the relationship kind, which i found kinda boring but only because I was expecting adventure and horror) and a lot of suspense. Nick Fuller was really good at describing the surroundings, so he got my heart racing at some points. I don't want to give spoilers but I also don't want to scare off potential readers that shy away from cerita hantu, so I am just going to say that the lembaga hitam is not what you think. But that did not stop me from having hair raising moments. Good read!
A light reading. The wild things turned out not a thing at all, it's just two lame military persons who followed the group all the way in the thick rainforest.
