Noah Blanton spent most of his adult life as a paramedic, burning himself to save just one more life. When he dies saving a child, a goddess drops him into a crumbling Sanctuary defended by three exhausted women.
He's supposed to be their salvation. Except he's the first male warden in a thousand years. The world outside is apocalyptic and the demons are coming for them. But Noah can heal, purify demonic corruption, and boost the powers of his three companions. The catch? He needs to form Soul Bonds with them before he can do so.
Ulassa, a stoic swordswoman. Valerise, an elven mage. And Maroa, a mischievous catgirl. If forming Soul Bonds with them was what he needed to do... Maybe this world wasn't unsalvageable after all.
The Last Soul Warden is a strong to stronger progression fantasy featuring multiple romantic relationships, a healer MC, found family, and set in a post apocalyptic world!
I DNF this book after 24 pages. Between the complete disaster the MC was as a paramedic, and the really poor writing quality, I gave up.
The MC is a paramedic suffering from a massive case of PTSD. Despite people reaching out to him to help him, he's doing the "stoic to the point of epic stupidity" thing and ignoring all the helpful advice people give him. He also doesn't have any idea how to be a paramedic, since after an accident where his patient died, he's looking at the blood under his fingernails. The blood that wouldn't be there if he's wearing gloves like every other paramedic on the planet would. He also throws some of his bloody clothing into his locker instead of putting it to be washed, because blood born pathogens don't matter to this bozo.
Then he gets truck-kun'ed rescuing a little boy standing in the middle of the road with his ball. Everyone else just stands there frozen, but the burnt-out guy that can't make a rational decision manages to save the day. So, he dies, and some goddess decides he's the perfect guy to be the healer for 3 women in need of healing, so she tells him she's sending him on his way, and boom, isekai time.
He wakes up with the three women near him, one with her sword at his throat. And he can't really manage to articulate anything, with his thoughts so jumbled it took me 3 tries to figure out that the author just gave up on making sense.
Writing was weirdly fine but also hard to read, grammar and sentence structure of strange, maybe not a native English speaker? should have gotten an editor. The setting also didn't really work for me.
