Adaptations and retellings of the Bible are not new or different. What makes The Story for Kids stand out is how it is part of a larger campaign where entire families can receive the same message in a format best suited for their age level or reading comprehension. The publisher has presented the Bible's most important stories in a way so that it is comprehensible at each age level. The story for Kids is for 8-12 year olds and at the end of each story there is a section of discussion questions which work well for family devotional time.
The rating would be higher if there was a stronger sense of continuity between the Old Testament and New Testament. While the stories cover needed basics, there tends to be gaps, as if parts of the Bible are being fast forwarded. Overall, The Story for Kids suffices as an introductory beginning to the great stories of the Bible.

Had so much fun reading this to the kids! I have a 7 and 5 year old in which they learned how the Bible flows instead of making since of a bunch of stories that are out of order. Actually helped me as a parent and as the primary teacher of the gospel to my kids.

Terrific adaptation of the Bible set into 31 chapters. Each chapter is the perfect length for bedtime reading with kids - about 10-15 minutes.

Kinda in the middle on this one. While our church went through The Story, I read the Story for kids to my son, who is 5. I think 5 was a little bit early for this book, so a lot of this went over his head. I tried to make it fun and interesting, but it was not his favorite book to pick up. I was a little surprised at some of the things left out. But, overall, my son did get a good picture of many of the things that happened in the bible. He liked the story of Paul and remembered it from week to week and I think it added to his bible knowledge and even his heart knowledge.

A well-done kids version of the Bible. I read through this book while teaching from it in Sunday School this past year.
