I was gifted an early e-book of Rush, from the Author. This was for nothing more than my Honest Review. This review is my own and is therefore…. Honest!
What to expect 🔹Love triangle 🔹Age gap 🔹Forced proximity 🔹Pop star 🔹Self discovery 🔹Found family 🔹Banter 🔹Spice 🔹Drama
🔹🔹🔹My Thoughts🔹🔹🔹
RUSH- well this is a continuation from Collide. So if you have not read it, why are you here ? Go read it! Then come back!
Ok, firstly, I was undecided during book 1 if I was team Alex or Team Broderick, but now after reading Rush Broderick Has grown on me a little more! I mean he sounds like a dream, like literally perfection, Or is he too good to be true?
“I didn’t want to miss one of the most important nights of your life,” he says, eyes catching mine again. “So…I flew back. Just for tonight.”
Alex- that man is something else, was not sure of him in book 1 and now I’m questioning things, being in the public eye could there be more to him than he’s letting on! I am just not sure with this man!!
Even though Elena is still dealing with a lot I did enjoy seeing how her Character had developed within this book, seeing that unfold, was great. ! Her relationship with her sister was beautiful to see also. The bonding more, just beautiful.
I had giggles during some parts ,I mean let’s just say, locks., cactus, spiders, magically parts ha ha…… Then the spice, damn there was a lot! Let’s say Hot! I think there was something like 13 chapters of it 🥵
Riley, oh gosh I freaking still love her, she is awesome! She definitely needs her own storyline!
This was overall a good read. But WTF, that ending! Girlllllll come on!!
**Side notes**
Alannah can come out with some great lines ha ha. If u wanna know then, Read her freaking book!
Firstly I would like to thank Alannah for this ARC and once again I devoured it whole!
Rush is probably my favourite 5 star read of the year (not sure how it can be beaten) and honestly I didn’t want it to end. It was the perfect pick up from Collide and I feel like my soul has been ripped from my body, the way this was written is phenomenal - it’s emotional, torturing and heartbreaking all at the same time. I honestly could not put it down! All I will say is Brody the man you are, I’ll take 14 of him.
Rush by Alannah Roberts devoured my weekend in the best possible way. As an ARC reader, I went in expecting a ‘ruin-the-friendship’-romance and came out emotionally w.r.e.c.k.e.d. This book is chaotic, heartfelt, ridiculously addictive, and messier than any group chat (or Elena Montgomery forum) on a Friday night—in the absolute best way.
From the first chapter, I was hooked on Elena’s whirlwind life. She’s juggling heartbreak, skyrocketing fame, ruthless public scrutiny, complicated family ties, and feelings she did not sign up for. What I love most about Alannah’s writing is how effortlessly authentic everything feels. The world feels so lived-in. Throw in the social media posts, articles, graphics, and playlists woven throughout, and suddenly you’re not just reading—you’re living inside Elena’s very dramatic existence.
Spoilers ahead:
Hats (and pants) off. Highly, highly recommend this read.
Rush by Alannah Roberts completely consumed me from beginning to end. This book was emotional, addictive, messy in the best way, and impossible to put down. From the very first chapter, I was hooked on Elena’s journey as she tries to navigate heartbreak, fame, public pressure, family struggles, and feelings she absolutely did not plan on having.
One thing I will always adore about Alannah’s writing is how authentic her stories feel. She effortlessly incorporates Filipino and Australian culture, foods, and terminology into the story in such a natural way that it makes the characters and relationships feel even more real and lived in. Combined with the social media posts, articles, graphics, and playlists woven throughout the novel, Rush felt incredibly immersive. It genuinely feels like stepping into the chaotic world of a rising pop star.
Elena was such a strong character to follow in this book. Beneath all the fame and glamour, she’s struggling with deep insecurities and abandonment issues that made her feel painfully human. Her emotional journey felt so raw and honest, especially as she tries to figure out what she truly wants while dealing with the pressure of constantly being watched by the public.
And then there’s Broderick Schwartz. I adored this man. He’s busy, emotionally guarded, frustratingly hard-working, and somehow still one of the sweetest love interests ever. The way he consistently shows up for Elena absolutely melted my heart. Their chemistry was undeniable from the start, but what I loved most was their banter and emotional connection. Every interaction between them had me smiling.
I also loved the side characters so much. Riley brought so much humour and energy to the story, while Elena’s evolving relationship with her sister added another emotional layer that I really appreciated. The flashbacks involving Elena’s mother were especially touching and added so much depth to her character and motivations.
Another thing I loved was Elena’s growth throughout the book. You can really see her becoming more confident in herself, her choices, and what she deserves. Watching her slowly regain pieces of herself after everything she’s been through was incredibly satisfying.
The spice in this book was definitely a 5/5 for me. The chemistry and tension were built up so well throughout the story, making every romantic moment hit even harder.
I cannot wait to see how Alannah concludes this story, I just know that the first book is going to be packed with emotions, twists, turns, and of course, spice.
This is a continuous series and you must read Collide first.
I have been waiting for this book for months and it did not disappoint. If you liked Collide then you are going to love Rush. This a love triangle and normally that is not my thing but I couldn't get enough. The first book had me ping ponging between Alex and Broderick and I couldn't decide who I liked more. This book has a clear winner but I don't know if my heart can handle what is to come with book three. Did I mention the cover? *Fanning myself. Then there are the colors and aesthetics of both books... I feel like they are just perfect and fit so well.
Elena continues to advance her career and is really starting to make a name for herself in the music industry. While RISING to fame, she must confront her feelings of inadequacy and mend the relationships around her. There were times where her indecisiveness had me pulling my hair out but how does the saying go? The heart wants what the heart wants.
Then there is Broderick...The definition of "If he wanted to he would". He is more than meets the eye. He is selfless and generous (a generous lover *wink) and would give you the shirt off of his back. He loves Elena and will take whatever she is willing to give him even if its just scraps.
The banter and witty comebacks are off the charts. I love Elena and Riley's relationship the most. They are always there for each other and have each others backs. That is a friendship I wish that I had. It was also nice seeing the new and improved relationship with Elena and Phillipa. There is nothing like having a sister that you can look up to.
Overall, I can not wait to continue the story. It is going to be torture having to wait. I enjoyed everything about this story and I am hoping in the next book we see a little more of Riley and that special someone. I am intrigued on how the pieces are going to FALL into place.
Thank you Alannah for giving me a chance to continue in another successful book.
I am equally floored and delighted by where Alannah took me with this book. Rush picks up right where Collide left off, and trust me—you need to experience it for yourself. So instead of telling you what happens, I’ll tell you how it felt. Whirlwind. Heated. Addictive. The kind of highs that made me kick my feet in the air and the lows that made me want to shake Elena awake.
Growing up Filipino, I was raised on telenovelas. Then came contemporary romances, and now I live for fluffy romances with a heart. Alannah delivered all of it: the drama, the glamour, the yearning, the fluff, and the ache (headache, heartache, ache from down under iykyk). She creates an atmosphere so vivid it feels like you’re right there with them. And that love triangle? Oh, it tipped toward the side that MATTERS to me. No competition here, right Elena?! But where’s the fun in that? Alannah knows exactly how to make me sweat and beg for the safety of my team 🤭.
Rush follows our fmc as she continues living la vida Elena. And then comes Mr. Brody. This book left me swooning, raging, and completely in awe of the growth, the journey, and the found family woven through the side characters. Ahhh to be 23, chasing the breakthrough of a career while swimming with the sharks e.g family drama, media scrutiny, heartbreak. And if you want to ask me about the spice? 5/5 chilli peppers I tell ya.
Alannah has done it again. Written a book that has consumed my entire soul.
Rush is book two in the Rhapsody of Heartbeats trilogy so make sure you read Collide first!
This book has you sucked in from beginning to finish and has everything you need, banter ✅ spice ✅ an MMC who lays his soul bare for the FMC ✅ ✅ ✅.
A direct continuation of Collide, this book had me giggling, squealing and sobbing. Alannah’s writing grips you from the soul and makes you feel as if you are Elena herself. She manages to effortlessly have you sobbing on one page and breathless the next.
This book is wonderfully balanced as well, you’re not slugging through endless meaningless smut, the scenes have depth and feelings, and honestly I could write a whole damn novella on how perfect Broderick is both in bed and as a MMC but I’ll let the book speak for itself.
Overall, Rush is the perfect continuation of Collide that leaves you wanting more of not just Elena’s story but of everyone.
Alannah, woman. You are a queen and honestly I will be obsessing over your books for the next billion years. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next.
P.S I need a spin off of Riley like 6 months ago. Thanks. 🤣
ARC review: Thank you so much, Alannah Roberts, for giving me the chance to read RUSH, Book 2 of The Rhapsody of Hearts. This is not a standalone, and you have to read COLLIDE before you read RUSH.
SOME SPOILERS
After re-reading COLLIDE & FLOAT, I couldn't wait to see if Alex had a redemption arc. RUSH continues where COLLIDE left off. While getting over her breakup with Alex, Elena's music career is on the rise, and she is getting ready for Phillipina and Andrew's wedding with Broderick, the best man. Elena is trying her best to get over Alex, and you know what they say the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else. Well, Elena & Brody become friends "who F like champions" with some ground rules to keep it casual. Sure, setting ground rules ALWAYS work in these types of things 😄
Now, I will say I did flip from Team Alex to Team Brody. Yes, he's a BIG guy 😉 with a heart of gold and a dirty mind, but when I saw Leon Bridges' Beyond on the SECOND mixtape, he made for her 😊❤️ 👏 I literally giggled, smacked my Kindle and kicked my feet.
MAJOR SPOILER AHEAD
RUSH ends on a cliffhanger (Madness indeed), and the finale FALL does not have a release date yet, and I am so excited. I can only hope we get an Elena and Brody HEA. While we all wait, possibly more from Riley and Luca, a holiday novella, perhaps 🎄??
OVERALL 4.75 ⭐️ 3.5 🌶

Rush exceeded all expectations. The romance, the heartbreak, the drama, it all had me hooked. Emotions ran high between all the characters but especially between Elena and Broderick.
Broderick, the man that you are, where do I even start. He stole my heart even more than he did in Collide. His yearning, acts of service, his dirty mouth, the way he would literally drop anything and everything for Elena with no questions asked, it all had me giggling and kicking my feet. The way he is with Elena made my heart melt, he becomes more vulnerable and can fully be himself around her. Their banter and chemistry was honestly chefs kiss, I loved the quick remarks they would make towards each other, I was fully invested.
Given her age and how quickly she became known in the public eye Elena’s journey throughout the book felt so emotional. Seeing her navigate life as a new young pop star, dealing with family drama, boy drama, public pressure and her internal insecurities, it really shows how much she has matured from book 1.
Rush was an emotional roller coaster that I didn’t want to get off, I loved every second of it.
Rush by Alannah Roberts completely ruined my plans, my sleep schedule, and honestly my ability to care about real people for 48 hours.
I opened this book thinking, “I’ll just read a chapter.” Cute. Embarrassing for me, really.
Next thing I knew I was giggling, kicking my feet, whispering “OH MY GOD” at 1:37am, and emotionally attached to fictional characters who now pay rent in my brain permanently.
The banter? Delicious. The chemistry? Illegal levels. The tension? I aged three years waiting!
Alannah Roberts somehow wrote a book that feels like a warm hug and a personal attack at the same time. It’s funny, swoony, chaotic in the best way, and full of so much heart.
Anyway, if anyone needs me, I’ll be recommending this book to strangers, coworkers, and probably my barista for the foreseeable future!!!
Absolute masterpiece!! I had the absolute best time reading Rush! My girl Elena is SOOO relatable, and I thoroughly enjoyed her relationship development with Broderick! It was sooo hot and spicy and absolutely everything I ever needed. One of my favorite things about my queen Alannah’s writing is her telanovela writing style. Because the drama definitely takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions. Whatever she writes, I will EAT UP!!! Bowing down to the author she is!! I also love how there is a good balance of Elena’s own popstar girliepop journey along with her daddy issues. Because #relatable! Anyways, I cannot recommend this series enough!! Absolutely in LOVE!!
Well i am floored. Directly following the events of Collide we are thrust into a world full of bad decisions, flashing lights, lust and heartache.
When I say this was a ride... it was like the steepest rollercoaster that makes your stomach drop, and hit your throat at the same time. You're equally rooting for Elena's happily ever after, and simultaneously want to throttle her.
Alannah this was such a masterpiece, I fear I'm going to continue to spiral until Fall comes out.
Alannah Roberts did it again. Another masterpiece romance. I LOOOOOVED that this book was more focused on my Favorite character, Broderick, and we got to know him personally and intimately *wink wink*. And our poor FMC was truly going through it all this book. Dealing with family and friend dynamics, fame and keeping your "relationship" out of it truly made me feel for her. But what was that ending!!! Giiiirl i need the next book asap. I NEED TO KNOW WHERE MY MAN IS.
