Rescue Alaska is a warm yet fast-paced mystery series with a subtle paranormal twist. Harmony Carson, a dedicated search-and-rescue volunteer, carries a rare gift—one that often feels more like a curse. She can “see” those she’s meant to rescue, experiencing not only their location but their fear and pain. As her abilities evolve, Harmony discovers her connection extends beyond victims… to those she is meant to stop.
In Book 9, a year has passed since Harmony lost her gift, and she’s still grappling with the aftermath. The tormenting visions that once pushed her to the brink are gone, along with the physical toll they took—no more tremors, headaches, or nosebleeds. For the first time in years, she has peace. But that peace has come at a cost. Without the connection that once defined her, Harmony feels hollow, as if a part of her soul has faded away.
She’s learning to move forward—until someone she loves goes missing, and she’s powerless to help. When a stranger searching for the same man asks for her assistance, Harmony is faced with an impossible choice. To save someone she loves she may have to walk away from someone else she loves even more.
Join Harmony as she joins FBI agent Avery Carmichael on a dangerous journey into the unknown, where the line between gift and curse may be the key to saving a life… or losing herself forever.
Kathi lives with her husband, kids, grandkids, and dogs in beautiful Lake Tahoe. When she isn't writing, Kathi likes to read (preferably at the beach or by the fire), cook (preferably something with chocolate or cheese,) and garden (planting and planning not weeding). She also enjoys spending time on the water when she's not hiking, biking, or snowshoeing, the miles of desolate trails surrounding her home. Kathi uses the mountain setting in which she lives, along with the animals (wild and domestic) that share her home, as inspiration for her cozy mysteries.

Book 9 in Kathi Daleys Rescue Alaska series. A series which follows a search and rescue team based in Rescue, Alaska.
Harmony is the main character in this series, she has a gift of being able to connect with those in need of rescuing, but this comes at a cost to her. Recently her gift has deserted her and she thinks she knows why. She lives in a secluded house where she has a menagerie of animals, including her search and rescue dog Yukon.
When she starts getting dreams again whete she thinks someone is reaching out to her, she doesn't believe it at first. When someone comes to find her, to tell her someone she knows and loves is missing she knows what she has to do; but this will come at a huge cost to her, and someone else she loves very much.
These are easy to read books and sometimes have links to other series written by the same author. This book links with characters in other books.
The books in this series are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and wider storyline.
If you liked this book, read other series by the same author. Some ones I have liked are Tess and Tilly; The Inn at Holiday Bay and its spin offs -The Bakeshop at Holiday Bay, and The Bookstore at Holiday Bay; Zoe Donovan Mystery; The Cottage on Gooseberry Bay and its spin off Rescue on Gooseberry Bay; Cat in the Attic, and The Resort at Castaway Bay. I still haven't exhausted all her series yet! They are all cosy mysteries so if you like that genre and like this author's writing, you won't be short of books to read for a while.
What is good about having several series by the same author which haven't finished yet, is there is almost always a new release each month.
Harmony Carson is a dedicated search and rescue volunteer in Rescue, Alaska who had a gift for "seeing" both those whom she was meant to help and those she was meant to stop. But it's been a year since she lost her gift and she's still dealing with that. While the visions caused a physical toll of headaches, nosebleeds, and tremors which she doesn't miss, she does feel a little empty despite the peace. She also feels like she may not be helping everyone who needs it. Then a stranger named Avery Carmichael who's an FBI agent shows up asking for her help. A man is missing, someone who is also very important in Harmony's life. Will she have to walk away from the love of her life in order to save someone else she loves?
This is one of my favorite series by Kathi Daley and this book's a prime example of why. The book was well-written with well-rounded characters who are likable and relatable while the plot is fast-moving. I was drawn into this captivating story and kept hooked from beginning to end. The story had action, adventure, drama, intrigue, mystery, and romance along with a touch of the paranormal. There's also the small town community and deep friendships. Kathi Daley is a wonderful author and storyteller who pens tales that draw you in and allow you to escape for a while. I highly recommend both book and series which I believe is best read in order although each book has a self-contained mystery.
I love this series so much, and I was thrilled to see that it was continuing. I love Alaska, I love the characters and I love Harmony’s gift which sets this series above the rest. My only problem is that I love it so much this book would never be long enough for me haha.
Seriously, If you love Alaska, amazing characters, and some psychic abilities this series is for you.
I love that Kathi decided to write this book and it kind of explains what was going on with Avery in the cottage at Gooseberry Bay series. I like that Kathi continues to keep the ties between the series. Shredder needs rescued and Avery, Harmony and Houston figure out where he is and they rescue him with the help of Harmony's search and rescue dog. Hopefully there are more new books coming.
Good addition to this series...glad it came off the inactive list! Harmony hasn't been able to "connect" with her gift for a year, but she is having strange, unsettling dreams lately. When she learns a good friend is missing, she begins to connect the dreams with her friend. Maybe her gift isn't totally gone after all. Can she use what she has to find her friend...
Harmony hasn't been able to use her "gift" to connect with people. Landon suggests that it came to her at the lowest point in her life, and now she is at a high point with Houston. She has had dreams, but wasn't sure what they meant until she finds out that her friend is missing. The book pulls in characters from Gooseberry with Avery looking for Harmony's friend.
Another good book in this great series! I really enjoy how Kathi writes. I love how she incorporates animals throughout the story! I love all the characters & their relationships with each other! This storyline was a bit of a different rescue than in her other books but that made it more interesting! Looking forward to the next book!
this is another good story in the series. harmony is trying to adjust to not have the ability to connect to those in need. but now someone is trying to reach out to her. looking forward to the next book. if you like mystery and animals you will like the story
An exciting adventure that takes place in Alaska, this is very different from Kathie Daley's "Inn" stories. A CIA agent is missing, and the only clues to his location are in the heroines dreams.
So what is the rescue in this story. Is it just a person or is it also a special gift? This was idea seen throughout the story, the whole story. So much for enjoying this one.
Harmony and her friends work well together. Good adventure and good heartfelt story. Fun details about the rescued mom and her puppies and the people who cared for them.
