Sienna Nealon is a member of an endangered species. One of the last remaining people with powers beyond those of a normal human, she has taken it upon herself to police the survivors and keep them in line with human laws.
When trouble erupts in Atlanta, Georgia, it looks like it may be just another everyday problem for Sienna. But what starts as a normal mission quickly twists out of control, as Sienna is left questioning exactly who her enemy is - and what are they up to?
Robert J. Crane was born and raised on Florida's Space Coast before moving to the upper midwest in search of cooler climates and more palatable beer. He graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in English Creative Writing. He worked for a year as a substitute teacher and worked in the financial services field for seven years while writing in his spare time.
This is my 14th book in The Girl In The Box 60 volumeseries by Robert Crane. I don't don't know how he managed to keep it interesting. But he has. Only 46 more to go...
Wouldn't it be great to have some of the powers that these action figures have. It could also be depressing and scary being able to read a person's mind or feel the emotions that someone is feeling. These stories continue to weave their tales into a fun filled adventure and make me wonder if some day these types of "powers" will become feats of life.
Sienna goes to Atlanta to investigate possible lightning strike murders. She stumbles on to a much bigger plot involving experimentation on humans to create meta-power abilities. She goes up against two powerful people that the media loves, while dealing with the hatred from the press. ! Felt sorry for her quite a bit in this one, even though she can be her own worst enemy. I did love the new character Augustus, and I hope he is in future books. She needs the support!
I used to enjoy reading this series but after the last two to three books I've found the author has wasted too many pages with useless woffal on the thoughts and thinkings of the characters involved. Whether it's the fault of the Author or his agents / publishers just to fill space I'm not quite sure. It's a shame because, in general, when he decides to stick to the plot it'makes good reading hence I won't be continuing with these novels.
I try and rate each book, and I really don't know what else to say about the ENTIRE Sienna series, starting with In the Box through what I have just read, other than, if you haven't read these books, and you love thriller sci-fi-ish tales woven so well that you are caught and can't remove yourself from the web so intricately written, then you are MISSING OUT!
Man my heart is hurting for sienna and the way she’s dragging along. I hope that her brother steps up and is there for her. I can’t believe how reed is acting again. I hope sienna understands who she is and starts feeling more confident in herself and doesn’t get lost in the darkness.
It took me a while to make it through this book, a lot going on in life. I was however excited to have the addition, at least temporarily permanent, of a new character. I'm excited to read & learn more about Augustus.

What about the buried metas? I wonder if they left them to die? Oh well I'll never know. Anyone have a guess or is everyone assuming they were dug up and went to jail. I bet that one guy while he impossible to contain.
What a awesome story! I just couldn't put the book down! Impressive action pack and a intriguing open ending that totally will have searching for the next book
This series just keeps getting better and better. Intriguing, attention captivating, new characters, future characters hinted at and suspense to have you wanting to come back to find out what happens next in the next book or chapter of the series.
A really fun way to keep expanding the Meta world! I love the detective style Girl in The Box books, and also really enjoyed that this felt like a real part of the overall plot of the series. Watch out for (more) majorly angsty vibes from Sienna though.
The books in this series keep getting better and better. This one was by far the best yet can't wait to start the next in line. Will be doing that right now
The first half of this book really moved slowly and there were references made to past incidents that probably would have confused a first-time reader of this series.
Well, up to book 14, had to take a break for a few hours. My husband was starving. I can't write enough about the twists and turns except to say you just have to read them.
I love this series but the last book was a little lacking. This one was a breath of fresh air. Introducing some new characters and setting up story lines for coming books. I really enjoyed this one.
I believe in this book Sienna is starting to realize her selfish ways. She starts to realize that maybe she might be lonely and should learn from others. Highly recommend!
Glad to be able to read more about Sienna Nealon, defender, protector against those human and metahumans out to destroy mankind. This time she's in Atlanta to help solve the crime of murder. She encounters wickedness in government, big business and community leadership. All a shocker! NOT!!!
Sienna is in a low state of emotions, constantly encountering negative press about her. One man, Augustus, and a few others discovering to be metahumans, tried to encourage her, at first, because of seeing her as a hero. Their opinions fluctuate throughout the book.
Once again the action pack melees are out of this world. Adventurous, gory and described in such detail, painting a visual that seem almost real. Held me captive.
My heart went out towards Sienna. She tries so hard to help the public but so misunderstood by others, who shun, gossip, offends and lies on her. At times she responds with bitterness and anger. A councilman even accused her of racism, suggesting there aren't many people of color on her staff, etc. He did have an ulterior motive speaking as he did, but I loved my girl's response to him and his alleged shake down. Sienna continues to show growth in maturity and seeks advice from others. I ached witnessing the strain between her and Reed, as well as others in her agency. I wanted to console her, encourage her, and do my best to lift her spirits. Come on girl, remember all the heroic things you have done? Please ignore the few negative voices bent on destroying you because you are a threat to their diabolical agendas. Wake up!! Walk in your purpose! Do what only you can do!
Format of the book is basic...Sienna called to a town to handle crime committed by or perpetrated against metahumans, discovers the culprits, have this explosive encounter and then case solved. This is ok with me. I love Sienna and the others and I look forward to reading more and more books about her and these others.
I enjoyed seeing Sienna interact with some new metas. The bad guys were satisfyingly evil and I liked that they were only puppets. The real bad guy is going to make an appearance in a future book.
I know these are only stories but I can't help but be worried about the metas and the fact that there is a chemical able to nullify their powers. I can't see a positive resolution to this. Good thing I'm not the author.
I am curious about where all these evil metas are coming from. Sovereign and his minions certainly didn't do a very good job of eliminating them. Or, this just occurred to me, were they part of his crew?
Now the earthquake guy and his girlfriend, the Italian stallion and this new character are all out to get Sienna. Things are going to get messy.
Why Kat is attempting to reach out to Sienna after throwing her under the bus? Has it something to do with Janus and his secret?
Once more another triumph for Robert J. Crane. Love the whole series about meats and their world with Sienna enforcing the sometimes good behaviour line. ;-)
