Kir Lazarev has a mission: eliminate Jillian, the reporter digging a little too close into the Lazarev family Bratva. Easy enough right? Of course not. What starts off as a calculated game of stalking and control slowly evolves as Kir and Jillian begin to find comfort in each others dark presence and their twisted game turns into love.

Going into this, I was already so curious about Kir and Jillian after Boardroom Sins. And boy it did not disappoint at all!

Jillian was such a strong FMC, I really liked her a lot. She had this inner darkness that clearly stemmed from her past, but she just picks herself up and keeps going. She’s mature, self-aware, and honestly really likeable and held her own in every situation in a way that I respected so much.

“I chose you. Every single time, I chose you.”

But the the true star of the book for me was Kir himself. Not gonna lie, Lukas really left that man with some damage to work through and knowing how Lukas was in the first book, especially at the start, I already knew that was going to play a big role here. But what I didn’t expect was how human Kir felt. He wasn’t hardened in the same way, not shaped by years of being a Pakhan. There was a softness to him, something more raw. And watching his character development, the way he processed things and actually GREW, that’s what really got me.

Their dynamic was messy but in the best way. It’s very much a clandestine, push and pull kind of relationship where they’re constantly circling each other, playing mind games, testing boundaries (and sleeping with each other)…but still completely unable to ignore the pull between them. For me, this one hit way harder than the first. With Boardroom Sins, we were discovering everything as it unfolded. But here? We already know the truth, we know the fallout, we know what’s coming. So instead of the plot being the main driver, it becomes about the characters. What really happened behind the scenes, how everything affected them, and how they move forward from it. It really made their love the true centrepiece to the book and I loved that.

“…here in the darkness, we’ve found a place that’s safe.”

One thing I found really interesting was how the perspective shifts from the first book. The “villain” in one becomes the “hero” in another and vice versa, and it really makes you rethink everything you thought you knew. I love that Nicole did that and that’s where this book really shines. It’s about growth. About Kir stepping into himself despite everything he’s been through. About Jillian’s past finally coming to light and understanding what truly shaped her. It was way more emotional than I expected, especially for a stalker/assassin romance.

If the first book was more salacious and tension-driven, this one had heart. Honestly, I had such a good time with this series. It was fun, emotional, and just a really engaging read overall.

*Boardroom Mask* by Nicole Fox seriously pulled me in deeper the more I read it’s one of those stories where the tension just keeps building in the best way. The corporate setting isn’t just for show either; it really shapes the characters and their decisions, especially when secrets, power dynamics, and reputations are constantly at stake. It makes every interaction feel like it could shift everything.

Kir becomes even more interesting the more layers you see. He’s so used to being in control in every aspect of his life, especially in the boardroom, that watching that control slip—bit by bit—is incredibly compelling. Around Jillian, he’s forced to confront emotions he clearly isn’t comfortable with, and that internal struggle adds so much depth. There are moments where you can tell he wants to keep his distance for very real reasons, but he keeps getting pulled back in, and that push between logic and feeling makes his character feel complex rather than just “the powerful CEO type.”

Jillian’s role in all of this is just as strong. She’s navigating a high-pressure environment where one wrong move could cost her everything, and yet she refuses to shrink herself to fit into it. I really liked how she challenges Kir not just romantically, but professionally too. She sees through parts of his “mask” before anyone else does, and instead of being intimidated, she questions it. At the same time, you can feel her weighing the risks of getting closer to him, which makes her choices feel grounded and real.

Their relationship has so many layers beyond just attraction. Yes, the chemistry is intense, but it’s also tied up in trust, vulnerability, and the fear of what could happen if things fall apart. There are moments where their connection feels almost like a liability given their environment, which raises the stakes in such a satisfying way. The emotional tension mixed with the external pressure from the corporate world makes every step forward feel earned.

What really stood out to me is how the “mask” theme plays into both of their arcs. It’s not just Kir hiding behind control Jillian has her own walls too, and watching both of them slowly let those defenses down is what gives the story its emotional payoff. By the end, it feels like more than just a romance; it’s about identity, trust, and choosing vulnerability even when it’s risky.

Overall, this ended up being such an addictive, layered read with a lot more emotional depth than I expected going in. If you like your romance with strong character dynamics, high-stakes settings, and a slow unraveling of secrets, *Boardroom Mask* is definitely worth it.

There's a man in my apartment.

He's looming in the dark, wearing a mask and leather gloves, and I know what he came here to do.

He doesn't kill me that night, though.

What he does is worse:

He comes back.

Again.

And again.

And again.

Each time he does, he gets closer.

And my world gets that much crazier.

By day, I'm chasing down leads on a blistering exposé of the Lazarev family—NYC's uber-wealthy and uber-dangerous billionaire father-son duo.

By night, I'm opening the door for a masked stalker to ruin me.

Little by little, the lines get blurred.

And my masked stalker starts to find me in other places.

Like in a confessional booth, one hand over my mouth and the other hand wandering closer to hell than to heaven.

Or the broom closet of my newsroom, my skirt around my waist, giving a whole new meaning to "burying the lede."

Our very dangerous game has three very simple rules:

No names.

No faces.

No falling in love.

We're about to break every single one.

This contemporary dark mafia enemies-to-lovers romantic suspense women's crime fake marriage romance is page-turning with exceptional world-building that is engulfed by darkness, danger, violence, organized crime, and grit, and characters who are morally gray, tattooed bad mafia boy/masked stalker, insanely obsessed, and a female heroine who are captivating and realistic. Their journey is enthralling with the boardroom mask, explicit romance that is consumed by steamy, sizzling passion, lust, desire, and spice with all the feelings to leave readers breathless and begging for more, forbidden romance, forced proximity, romantic suspense that is sure to leave readers on the edge of their seats, touch her and die vibe, he falls first, a secret baby, chaos/drama, heartfelt emotions/emotional depth, action, adventure, and more. I recommend reading this book by an extraordinary author who knows how to captivate her readers' hearts and attention with the boardroom mask and a contemporary dark mafia enemies-to-lovers romantic suspense women's crime fake marriage romance that is sure to transport readers into a world that is wildly lustful, dark, intriguing, dangerous, and unforgettable.

DARK, SEDUCTIVE AND DANGEROUSLY ADDICTIVE!

From the very first page, this book pulls you into a world where danger and desire blur so completely, you don’t even try to separate them.

Jillian is chasing a story that could ruin one of the most powerful families in NYC, but nothing prepares her for the man waiting in the dark. Because when Kir enters her life, it isn’t just fear he brings with him…

It’s temptation.

What starts as something unsettling quickly turns into a dangerously addictive game. Every encounter is charged, every moment laced with tension and the anticipation between them? Absolutely electric. The slow build, the stolen moments, the way he pushes just enough to make her pulse race…it’s intoxicating.

And the chemistry? Off the charts.

Kir is the kind of morally gray hero who doesn’t need to raise his voice to take control. It’s in the way he watches her, the way he speaks, low, deliberate and laced with promise. The tension between them isn’t just physical… it’s in every word, every pause, every breath that feels just a little too close.

Their dynamic is a constant push and pull, control and surrender, restraint and temptation and when those lines start to blur? That’s when it becomes impossible to look away.

Jillian doesn’t just get swept up in it…she chooses it. Even knowing the risks, even knowing how dangerous he is, she meets him step for step. And that’s what makes their connection feel so intense… it’s not just chemistry, it’s mutual obsession.

All of this unfolds against the backdrop of the powerful Lazarev family, adding a layer of suspense that keeps the tension tight from beginning to end. You can feel the pressure building, knowing that at any moment, everything could fall apart.

The rules were simple:
🚫No names.
🚫No faces.
🚫No falling in love.

But the deeper they go, the harder those rules shatter.

Seductive, intense and filled with that slow-burning, edge of your seat tension that turns into something far more consuming, this story delivers on every level.

If you love your romance with danger, obsession, and just the right amount of heat simmering beneath the surface… this one will have you hooked. 😈

This is the story of Jillian and Kirill (Kir) and picks up pretty much where book one left off. Kir is the son of Lucas And Jillian is the best friend of Rae.

Jillian is a reporter with the NYT and is working on a story about Lucas deceased wife. She doesn’t believe that his wife died of natural causes and there’s a huge story that could take her over the top.

Kir is of course Mafia and helps run the many businesses that he and his father built and is expected to take over the family’s empire at some point. When Kir is charged with “taking out the trash…. Re:Jillian, he breaks into her apartment and waits for her. His intention is to kill her, but after meeting her and seeing her fall into a fugue state from a previous sexual assault, he can’t bring himself to do it. Instead he goes back night after night and becomes involved… developing feelings for her.

As days pass, his father is impatiently waiting for him to “do the job.” It becomes increasingly apparent that he’s falling for her and he can’t do it and he knows if he doesn’t, his father will send someone else to do the job.

“Above me somewhere, Jillian is standing alone, wondering what the fuck just happened. I wish I knew how to tell her: I’m falling in love with you, little fox. I have to kill you before that happens.”

What will Kir do to keep Jillian? Will Jillian get her big story but lose Kir in the process? You’ll have to read it to find out. This is definitely a good book. I enjoyed it immensely. I will say that even though you don’t have to read Book one, I recommend you do before reading this one because the two are intertwined in places seeing as how it’s father and son. 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Boardroom Mask is the second story in the Boardroom Billionaires series. It is very suspenseful and entertaining. I was hoping we would get Jillian and Kir's story after reading the end of Boardroom Sins.

Jillian is a journalist who has been working on the mysteries behind Kir's family. His mother died but the truth has never been uncovered. Kir's father, Lucas, wants Jillian to be killed. Rae is Jillian's best friend and works for Kir and Lucas's company. Kir goes to Jillian's apartment as his father requested. He has a mask on and comes in through her window. She has no idea who he is and he tells her he has come to kill her. She fights him but then she lets him do what he wants. Kir can't stop coming to see Jillian. He can't kill her and has a connection with her. She eventually realizes it is him.

Jillian knows she shouldn't be attracted to Kir. She has an obligation to her job to get the story on his family. But every time they see each other their connection is more and more spicy. Their relationship is forbidden. She is keeping the secret from her friend Rae. He is keeping the secret from his father. They know the risks they are taking but can't stop.

I loved the connection between Jillian and Kir. They were such an interesting couple to read about. Their story is full of emotion, suspense, and spice. I loved their slow burn relationship and look forward to the next story from this very talented author.

Thank you to the author for the advanced copy.

This is Book 2 of Boardroom Billionaires. Book 1 (Boardroom Sins) is about Lukas & Rae... this book is about Kir (Lukas's son) and Jillian (Rae's best friend).
The books are interconnected standalones, but you will get a lot more out of the book by having read the first book... I really loved how the timeline of the 2 books are parallel... (it's really well written... you wouldn't know that fact unless you've read both books... there's very little that's repeated & you don't feel like you're missing out on anything).

It's also interesting, having seen things from Lukas & Rae's perspective (without giving spoilers - there's some drama going on with the business & a murder/death from the past), to now see it from Kir's perspective.

Kir is tasked with killing Jillian... and ends up falling for her... and she falls for him, even though he's been stalking her!! 😅

Spice level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

*Dark/morally grey MMC
*Mafia (lite)
*masked stalker
*possessive/obsessive
*forced proximity
*romantic suspense
*enemies to lovers
*he falls first

Thank you to the author (Nicole Fox), publisher & Booksprout for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

4.5 ⭐ rounded up to 5 because Kir Lazarev? I’m gone.

Boardroom Mask is unhinged in the best way: a masked stalker, a journalist digging her own grave, and a “no falling in love” rule that gets obliterated almost immediately. The tension is sharp and the vibes are very much dangerous man becomes emotionally compromised and doesn’t handle it well.

But what really got me was Kir. For a former killer-on-demand, this man fell fast, fell hard, and then just… kept falling. Under the mask? Not just a predator. More like a smitten kitten with a body count. His vulnerability snuck up on me and ended up being the heart of the story.

Jillian holds her own beautifully, and their dynamic is messy, addictive, and just the right amount of chaotic. Power plays by day, morally questionable rendezvous by night. It shouldn’t work, in any other circumstance it would never work, but for Jillian and Kir, it absolutely does.

Came for the stalker romance. Stayed for the emotionally wrecked assassin in love.

No names. No faces. No falling in love.

Yeah… about that.

While this is advertised as a standalone within an interconnected series, I really believe to get the full effect you need to read Book 1, Boardroom Sins first.

Sometimes, you find something when you weren’t looking!
I was quickly caught up in Jillian’s quest to get the front page story of a lifetime against Kir’s family, and it seems that she might reach that goal thanks to a tip from the medical examiner’s office. When her source goes silent, she fumbles with how to dig up a new source. Kir is none too happy with his father’s latest task to off a reported digging in to their family after remains were found fitting in to the timeline of his mother’s death. Kir believes that his father was the reason for his mother’s death, and hates his father for it. Yet when Kir steals himself inside Jillian’s apartment to do the deed, something else happens! The two may be mortal enemies, but kismet won’t hear of it. Jillian has a dark secret from her past that has made it impossible to be with a man, but Kir’s mask seems to mask it. When his father stops believing Kir will do the deed, he hires a professional to which Kir has become very protective of Jillian. To combat the conflict between father and son, Kir does the unthinkable with his father’s position in the company. How will it all end? You have to read to find out and your hearts will tear apart by Kir’s actions!

Kir Lazarev has been told by his father to eradicate reporter Jillian, who is trying to do a story that will bring the family down. Once again, Nicole has you turning the pages with all that is going on. Jillian comes home to a power cut in her building, and Kir is behind it, letting her know what he is there for. But Kir finds himself unable to do what he came for when she bites his hand. From there, a love/hate relationship develops between Kir and Jillian. Trouble will befall anyone who dares touch Jillian. She is his. Kir soon faces a dilemma when he is unable to do his father's bidding; then his father will get someone else on the job. What will Kir do if this happens? He won't know who it will be or where it will happen. Will he be able to keep Jillian safe from the danger lurking in the shadows? Both are hiding secrets. Will their relationship survive if they come to light?
I recieved an arc from Booksprout for my voluntary honest review for NN Book Blog. If you enjoy a dark, twisted mafia romance, then you will love this book. Keep the tissues handy, there's a bit of an ugly cry in here too. However, this book may not be for everyone. Boardroom Billionaires Book Two:
I knew I was going to love Kiril’s story….
He was villainous but I had a feeling he was going to be more.
Jillian’s missing year had me very-very invested from the moment it was mentioned in Boardroom Sins.
Boardroom Mask is a Masked Villain Dark Romance.
So anything you need to know is in that sentence… lols.
Kiril is…. Y.U.M.Y Jillian explains him a few times in the best of ways.
Jillian with her fiery red hair and temperament to match takes her journalistic skills and questionable ethics to heart in Boardroom Mask.
We know from the end of Boardroom  Sins what she did. But if you haven't read it yet , it will all be explained in here.
I was a bit worried there for a hot minute and my heart skipped a few beats but there will be a HEA.
Loved this Book. Devoured it!!

"That’s another thing to add to my scant list of things I know about this man: He wants to stand out from the crowd, he doesn’t like being lied to, and he smells extremely good. Can’t wait to run straight to NYPD with that airtight description, assuming I make it out of here alive..”

Kir and Jillian’s book takes place during the same timeline as boardroom sins (which is Lukas & Rae’s book) and there was certainly a lot going on behind the scenes that’s for sure.

If you have read boardroom masks you will know that Kir was ordered by his Father Lukas to neutralise a threat and that threat is Jillian who is a news reporter and Rae’s best friend. Kir initially sets off to remove Jillian from the chessboard but during their encounter he realises that this is something he cannot and will not do🤭.

I loved that Jillian got her own story because what we say from Rae’s book she was the sassy and feisty best friend but now after reading her own story there is a lot that she has buried beneath the surface and honestly my heart broke for her at times.

Overall this was a good but, the couples chemistry was off the charts and the plot line was similar to the first book since it took place in the same timeline but I liked that we got additional details and povs.

This is another gripping read by this author and she did something really fun with this book. It runs parallel to book one but the villain in that book becomes the hero in this one. This was wild to me and I loved it! Jillian is a reporter with a hard past and that trauma has shaped her into who she is now. A strong determined gal with some inner darkness. She sure knew how to hold her own with Kir. Kir is Lucas' son (from book one) and does he grow a ton in this book. He's gone through his own difficult past, shaping him with a level of darkness that drives him. He was already stalking Jillian when he got the order to remove her from the living but that wasn't so easy. These two play mind games and test each other. All of that certainly didn't stop them from getting their hands on each other, though ;P Expect to get caught up in this character driven story with healing, growth, drama, danger and hot romance that ends in a fab HEA. It's another fantastic read by this author and I definitely recommend :D

I really enjoyed this story! I was so happy to see that Kir was getting his own book. I actually really liked him in Boardroom Sins and thought he was painted in a bad light. Sure he had his moments but I truly thought he was misunderstood. I'm glad to see him vindicated.

I loved Kir. He had so much heartbreak and unfairness tossed his way and yet he was still such an empathetic character. I loved the whole masked stalker vibes and how he couldn't help himself but to keep coming back to Jillian.

I had liked Jillian in Boardroom Sins and this just reaffirmed that. She was such a great friend to Rae and I had hoped she would finally find her dark prince. I loved that we finally got her backstory because I had some questions when I read Boardroom Sins.

This was such an intense yet fun read. I loved the suspense and angst. The writing was fast paced yet took the time to fully immerse you in the story. The bits of humor were spot on and kept the story from getting too heavy. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it!!

Boardroom Mask had me glued to my Kindle for the couple of hours it took to read. Kir and Jillian were a dynamite pairing; their banter, the tension, the masked action?!?! Oooof.

Jillian pursues her story about the mysterious death of Kir's mother Elena, and dives into the Lazarev empire. Kir's father orders a hit, but Kir spins it in his favor. He stalks Jillian but lets her know that he's watching. Their banter and little arguments had me giggling and those moments when Kir turned into the type of guy us dark romance readers love, I swooned.

I definitely liked these characters more than I liked the characters in the first book. Jillian masks her fear and trauma from an encounter years ago but Kir sees through the facade. For his part, Kir fights against his father's expectations and wants to become his own person without the shadow of the Lazarev legacy, however messy and bloody it is. I just... Ugh, this story is going to be in my head for months now!

I enjoyed this story. Kir is familiar if you have read Boardroom Sins. Although this is a standalone, it is best if you read the first book as it gives you more insight about Kir's life with his father. Jillian is a great reporter, but she has her work cut out for her with this new project. She is to do a article about the Lazarev family. Jillian is getting too close for the Head of Lazarev comfort (Kir's father), so he wants her GONE. Lukas expects his son Kir to do this job, but instead, Kir enters her home in a mask and all bets are then off. Kir sees something in Jillian that he can't stay away. Can he save her from his father though?. What will happen to the project after she finds out who the man in the mask is?. Or will she prefer him in the mask and for what reason?. Loved how it all unfolded for them both to have their HEA.

Boardroom Mask is a great follow-up to book 1 of this series. It follows two characters from the first book, Kir and Jillian, and their storyline fills in gaps from the first book. Kir, what can I say? He’s so intense and broody, yet has an incredibly soft side for Jillian. It’s great to see how complex he is, and how all these traits make him an incredible leading man. Jillian is full of sass and as a reporter, naturally inquisitive. Kir loves to rile her up and their banter is fun to watch. The chemistry between them is smoking hot! As things heat up, Jillian has a hard time finding a good work/life balance. This causes strain on several relationships. The book has many twists and turns and I was in tears at one point. Their story packs a punch with its moments of love, intense passion, heartbreak, and the shadier side of Kir’s life. It’s about overcoming our pasts and embracing our future.

I really struggled on how many stars to give this book because I did enjoy the relationship between the 2 main characters, although the start of their relationship was a bit depraved, but this is a dark romance.
The issue I had with it is that it is a repeat timeline of the first book Boardroom sins but this time through the perspective of Kir. The first book focused on his father and other than the romance the first book very much focused on the father/son toxic relationship.
It must be difficult to write recurring timelines in 2 different books without repeating the same story, but i really struggled with this because the emotion between father/son was really not reflected in this book which felt that the storyline of Jillian writing her devastating news article fell totally flat.
From the point of the timeline I felt that this book failed but as far as the main characters self discovery and need for each other was enjoyable.

If you like it dark and unsettling…

…strap in, it’s going to be a bumpy fall.

A smart-mouthed woman haunted by a heinous trauma, its result, and her subsequent silence.

A violent anti-hero son left wounded and angry from a father who kept his word for love and for far too long.

This is an excellent follow-up to “Boardroom Sins”, putting two supporting characters into the lead roles and fleshing them out (yes, pun intended).

A well-thought out continuing and expanding narrative.

Amazon notes there is a third and fourth book in the series coming (which I look forward to reading).

Side note / Trigger warning: this story deals with a rape told in a few short not-too-detailed flash-backs.

Absolutely amazing and terrifying masterpiece of a dark romance. The pace is unreal and every emotion is so descriptively laid out that you feel yourself going through all of them along with the MC’s.
Two very damaged people meet under dire circumstances and their worlds change but together they heal and find themselves.
Both Kir and Jillian would be too much, too broken for anyone else but each other but together they finally make sense and fin a place to belong along with a sense of purpose.
The writing is unreal and so engaging.
I don’t want to give away too much because this book should be experienced going in blind.
But it is a ride of a lifetime. Did I mention it is a dark romance? Proceed with caution but do proceed!.

Kir Lazarev saw his father poison his mother and he never forgave him. We are presented with the same story as Lukas’s but in Kir’s point of view. It is a very interesting story being the same but not really. Jillian is searching for information on the death of Kir’s mother but when his father Lukas discovers this he gives a kill order to Kir. HOwever, what Kir discovered, was a kindred dark soul who hides behind a mask just like him. They will become each other’s addiction and together they will slowly put their defenses and masks down and open their hearts. A nail biting, captivating story full of intrigue, darkness and violence. Their journey to an HEA is long and hard but when they open themselves to each other, the pieces of the puzzle will come into place.

Ten stars wouldn't be enough for this dark, sexy, addictive masterpiece! Nicole Fox delivers an intense, high-stakes romance that hooked me from the moment a masked assassin broke into a reporter's home, only to find a connection he couldn't sever.

The tension is electric as he battles the pressure to finish his job while falling for his intended target. Their chemistry is explosive, and watching their dangerous encounters evolve into a beautiful happily ever after was incredibly satisfying. If you love dark romance with a soft spot for a lethal hero, you need to read this immediately!.

The story of Jillian and Kir

Wow what a well written story. Once again Nicole smashes it.

Jillian is a reporter who is phenomenal at her job. She is strong, independent but deep down is so alone. She plasters on a smile acts happy but underneath it all she is broken.

Kir is the Heir of Lukas. He has hated his dad for the last 18 years after he thinks he ki***d his mom. He’s troubled, lonely, possessive & a little unhinged.

He’s set out to follow his orders from his dad to prove himself to him. Only for feelings to get involved, Betrayal and trusts that finally shed light that ruins not one but all of them.

I loved every minute of this book & certainly played with all my emotions.

This book picks up right where it left off in the first book. But it centers around Kir and Jillian.

Kir was supposed to kill Jillian because his father said to. She was causing problems and poking around their business when she shouldn’t. But Kir couldn’t do it. Instead he fell for her. She was scared that a masked man was coming in her apartment. However, she kind of likes it. Then she falls for him.

She is investigating his family, about the death of his mother and she thinks his father did it. She has written an article about it. When she publishes it, everything falls apart. When she thought it would make her happy and it did the opposite.

It does end good and lessons are learned.

Boardroom Mask was dark, intense, and completely addictive. Jillian is a strong, determined heroine who refuses to back down, whether she’s chasing the truth as a journalist or facing the chaos Kir brings into her life. Kir is the perfect morally gray hero—dangerous, possessive, mysterious, and impossible not to love. The tension between them was off the charts from the very first page, and their chemistry only got hotter as secrets started to unravel.

I loved the mix of suspense, obsession, and romance, along with the high-stakes world of the Lazarev family. The push and pull between Jillian and Kir kept me hooked the entire time. If you love masked antiheroes, powerful heroines, and dark billionaire romance with nonstop tension, this book is a must-read.
