Bonded by Moonlight is the first novel in the Cyndaris Saga A slow-burn romantasy filled with dire wolf shifters, forbidden bonds, fierce heroines, and a love triangle that cuts deep.A human girl marked by prophecy. A forbidden fated mate bond to a vicious dire wolf shifter. One love powerful enough to save a dying world—or destroy it.
When twenty-year-old Mia watches her village burn, innocence dies with it. What rises in its place is a lethal huntress.
The Dravari, invaders from another world, have come to strip her world, Cyndaris, of its most precious mineral, leaving slaughter in their wake. Mia survives by learning how to kill them first.
Alone. Terrified. Until a Jet-black Dire Wolf steps from the shadows.
He is Lunara—a lethal shapeshifter, a living weapon, and everything she has been taught to fear. Their bond is instant. Dangerous. Forbidden. Humans are not meant to love Lunara… and it is outlawed for Lunara to choose a human.
But he chooses her.
Their passion burns fierce and fast until fate tears them apart.
Now Mia is forced into the refuge of another pack… and into the protection of his brother—a man almost as lethal, just as loyal, and far too tempting for a heart already claimed.
From the shadows, her first love watches. Protecting her. Killing for her. Waiting to take her back… no matter the cost.
As war closes in and loyalties fracture, Mia must decide who she truly belongs to… until choice is stripped away the night the Triple Full Moon. Under its light, an ancient prophecy awakens—one that binds Mia not just to her Lunara warrior, but to the fate of Cyndaris itself.
She was never meant to survive. She was never meant to love him. And she was never meant to become the force that could save—or destroy—Cyndaris.

Bonded by Moonlight by Santina Louise completely pulled me in from the very first page. The reflection on grief at the beginning of the book was beautifully written, creating an instant emotional attachment to the FMC and anchoring me to the narrative right away.
The pacing remains strong throughout the entire book, easily holding my interest. I loved how the author handled the world-building; instead of the overwhelming info-dumps that usually plague the first book of a fantasy series, we are treated to small, intriguing pieces of the world over time. While the magic system is still shrouded in mystery, direwolf shifters and limitations/lore felt incredibly fresh and entirely original. Our FMC is wonderfully resilient, and watching her character development unfold was a true highlight.
The only reason this isn't a perfect five-star review comes down to the execution of the multi-perspective narrative. While I usually love multiple POVs, the perspective shifts here frequently happened without warning—sometimes even within the exact same paragraph. Without a clear structure or indicators showing whose eyes we were looking through, I spent too much time re-reading paragraphs to figure out who was speaking. This head-hopping constantly took me out of the storyline.
Overall, I am deeply invested in this story and its amazing heroine. Despite my frustration with the formatting, the plot and unique shifter lore have completely hooked me. I need to know what happens next!
A great story! Why does Mia feel this unmistakable pull towards the creature that should be her doom? Why does the wolf protect her, even to his own peril? I loved the progression of the plot and characters, though it did seem to move a little fast at times. Outside of that, great story and keen for book 2!
I really loved this story, but there were a few things that didn't sit well with me that affected my rating. Let's get what I didn't quite get out of the way first. The attack on Mia's village, where she was one of the only survivors, I don't quite understand why Shadow kept her... I understand it was explained later, but it would've been nice (especially if we are doing dual pov) for there to be an explanation from Shadow's pov. Secondly, Shadow is gone, Mia goes to town where she is given an ale that's been laced with sleeping herbs. She is then saved by Talon's crew, and taken to their camp. But here's the thing that didn't work for me... WHERE THE HECK IS SHADOW?! Are you telling me that with all his wolfy goodness there was absolutely no way he could've tracked her down?! That staying put in the cave like the good little golden retriever he is was the best option? I just don't believe so. I also have a hard time believing that Mia wouldn't put two and two together about her "protector" and her "god". I just feel she is smarter than that. Also why is no one wondering where shadow is when they meet the girl that is paired with the wolf taking down all the Slavers, they don't question why she's now alone? Okay now that I have that off my chest.... I loved loved loved Mia, I found her very relatable. I also love Talon's crew, almost as much as I love Talon. He is such a green flag, who truly cares for Mia and his crew. I really love Talon for Mia, I think he is the right choice ( obviously not going to be her choice because that would be the obvious choice lol) I am very very excited to see where this next book takes us, because even though I had frustrations, this girl is completely invested in these characters and this story. On to the next! A Special Thank you to the author and SPACE NETWORK for the opportunity to read this book!
If you like shifters & fantasy , romance & prophecy with powerful women & strong men this book is for you.
It's been a while since I have read a romantasy especially a shifter one at that & I really enjoyed it. The story pulled me in from the first page and as I went deeper into the story , it kept me wanting more.
The story is about our protagonist Mia whose one of the ordinary dayout, hunting with her father turns into her worst nightmare. Watching her father die in front of her eyes on top of finding her villagers and family dead breaks her in ways she can't explain. She heeds her father's last words & runs into the forest, when she is faced with a dire wolf, she prepares herself to die too & join her family in the afterlife but fate seems to have other plans for her.
Mia's story is an adventure, her making companion with a dire wolf ,Shadow ,getting consoled by her protector ,hunting animals and her enemies alike , gathering herbs and using the knowledge inherited from her mother to survive and finding a new chosen family. Just as she falls in rhythm with her new routine new dangers start lurking around her and ler loved ones.
The spice was entertaining, the tension between the characters was just amazing.Although what I really liked was the pacing , world building and how information is scattered throughout the story instead of being info dumped in the first two chapters. The story is mostly through Mia's POV though I would have liked if more of other's POV were included too especially Shadow's.
The ending has left me genuinely wanting more and I can't wait to read the next two books in the series.
Santina Louise blew my mind with this story. I love shifter romances and this one took that love to a whole new level. I loved the FMC Mia, the growth she shows during the book and the raw emotion are just mindblowing. I love Shadow even though, some of his actions do make me question somethings. Talon and the rest of his found family are a force to be reckoned with and I loved watching them throughout the story. The POV does switch up randomly and without warning, but I still absolutely devoured this book. I loved the worlds at war that felt dystopian like. I feel like I need a lot more on Ardyn and Marlek. I can't wait to see what happens with Selera and the other sages. I giggled throughout the story and parts also made me want to cry with the realness of the grief and nightmares, especially as someone who deals with nightmares. Santina is definitely an autobuy author for me now and I can't wait to finish book 2!
This story had a great flow and great pacing. The intricate details woven in through every aspect of battle, family, love, and every other part of this book was fascinating. I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 because it honestly did not need quite as much of the sexual side of things to make this story good. The flirtiness and back and forth was plenty to get the information across. The protector is really the only portion that added anything to the story when it came to the spicy stuff. The major grammatical issue that I saw fairly consistently was something that I know won't bother most people but drove me nuts. Conversation from two separate people was consistently in a single paragraph. There were a few areas that I had to re-read due to this as I misinterpreted, who was speaking and that lead to some confusion.
Bonded by moonlight was a gripping tale about resilience in the face of grief.
It was heart-gripping, entertaining, and frustrating at times, but overall an uplifting book with well-fleshed-out side characters.
The fmc had everything to be exactly who she turned out to be, and while childish at times, you do remember that she was young. And young people are allowed to be a little childish.
The antagonist had motivations that were well explored and while his decisions and actions are inexcusable, they were still quite interesting.
This is a captivating read and I am looking forward to book 2.
Book 1 in The Moon Of Cyndaris series: Mia and “Shadow”. This is a forbidden bonds, dire wolf shifter x human girl, fated mates, love triangle, slow burn, ultra protective MMC, strong heroine FMC, found family, magic system, gods and monsters, ptsd rep, worlds at war, romantasy. This book had me sucked in from the start and I couldn’t put it down until I finished it. I absolutely loved this story and I cannot wait to continue this series. There was so much going on: action and fighting scenes, amazing character development, prophesy, characters that aren’t fully known or understood, romance plot, survival, very cool magic system, it had it all. I loved Mia, she was such a strong and resilient FMC that was fighting her demons, both literally and figuratively. I love how this book was written, going back and forth through first and third person, it was so interesting and added layers to the writing. I most definitely recommend this book and will be jumping into book 2 as soon as it is out!
"BONDED BY MOONLIGHT" by Santina Louise was full of jaw-dropping surprises. Twists, turns, and emerging game players kept me on my toes and wanting more! Characters that are so well developed I felt the emotional devastation and I’m still not okay. “He’s carved from rules. And you’re made from grief.” I swear this line is living rent free in my head! From the beginning the action had me, but the world building and story kept me turning the pages. If you love stories that keep you on your toes, this one is for you. Highly recommend.
This book draws you in slowly, abd then RACES your heart! I loved reading this ❤️, my heart cried for Mia and her family but then I felt joy when she had shadow found her..
The spice in this is elegant, it gives you everything and then some. ESPECIALLY when her PROTECTOR 😱❤️😘 yes yes yes!
The comedy in this perfect "what's her name?" " I don't know!" I swear I was laughing and crying. I really can't wait to read book 2!
I see this as a high potential of a movie or TV series
"BONDED BY MOONLIGHT" by Santina Louise was full of surprises. It was also absolutely addictive I genuinely couldn't put it down. One moment that really stuck with me was the connection between Mia and Shadow and their forest activities. I Loved the twist in this story. If you love stories that keep you on your toes, this one is for you. Highly recommend.
This review is in no reflection of the author’s work.
Thank you to Santina Louise for gifting me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest thoughts.
I wasn’t able to get into this book, the world-building at the beginning was difficult for me to get into. I would’ve liked to meet the characters before we got into the world-building.
This book was not for me, but I recommend checking it out if you loved the Throne of Glass series.
Mia doesn’t know what she has gotten herself into! I love that while she can be so strong she still has weaknesses that make her relatable. I cannot wait to find out what happens in book 2!!
In this romantasy, in which there is slow burn romance of a human girl named Mia and a dire wolf shifter named Shadow. The story also contains faded mates , a magic system , found family, monsters and gods, forbidden bonds and a PTSD representation. This story had me flipping pages because the action scenes were so engaging and fun. I was so intrigued I couldn’t put it down. I really enjoyed the character arcs each character had. The trauma was so well written it felt real and the trust they build is beautiful. This is an emotional read. You don’t wanna miss! I can’t wait to jump back in to this world and book 2!
Bonded by Moonlight started with a bang. The opening chapters immediately pulled me in with the invasion of other worlds, the introduction to life after the invasion, and the impact it had on Mia and the world she lives in. It was exciting, intriguing, and had me eager to discover where the story was going.
Around the middle of the book, however, the pacing slowed considerably. There were long stretches where it felt like not much was happening. I could tell this was intentional, as the author was building a slow-burn relationship and carefully developing the characters, but I felt some of these chapters could have been condensed without losing their emotional impact. At times, the story felt stagnant.
One aspect that initially caught me off guard was the mix of first-person and third-person omniscient points of view. It was a little confusing at first, but once I settled into the writing style, I really came to appreciate it. Being able to experience the same scene through multiple characters' perspectives added depth and gave a much broader understanding of the story.
Beneath those slower chapters is a genuinely compelling story. The reader is often aware of more than both the FMC and MMC, as well as many of the supporting characters, creating a constant sense of anticipation. I found myself thinking, When is everything finally going to unravel? The gradual introduction of the magic system, shifting, healing, and the wider conflict is handled in a way that feels natural and makes sense. From around the 60% mark until the very end, the pacing picked up significantly, and I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the book.
The preview of the second book left me even more invested than I already was. There are still so many mysteries surrounding the different worlds, the magic, the healing abilities, and the ongoing war that I genuinely want to learn more.
Overall, Bonded by Moonlight is an original and imaginative fantasy with a fascinating world and plenty of potential. While the middle section dragged for me, the strong ending and intriguing world-building more than made up for it, leaving me excited to continue the series.
Mia is a human living on Cyndaris, a world being ravaged by invaders from another world. After losing her village along with her entire family, she becomes a fierce survivor determined to fight back. Then she meets a powerful dire wolf shifter and the two form a bond they definitely aren’t supposed to have. As the danger grows, Mia finds herself caught between love, survival, and a much bigger conflict.
What worked for me: The story starts with a lot happening, and Mia’s situation immediately made me want to see what happened next. I liked learning about Cyndaris and the different types of shifters and magic. There was enough going on to keep me curious. I enjoyed getting different characters’ perspectives.
But, what didn’t work for me; The different POV styles: Going between first-person and third-person narration was a little confusing at first. The pacing in the middle felt a little slow for me. There were parts where I felt like the story wasn’t moving fast enough. The ending left me with more questions about what was going on.
Overall, I gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️.
It wasn’t a perfect read for me, but I enjoyed the characters, the world, and the growing mystery. The ending definitely left me curious about what happens next, but I’m not sure I’ll continue with the series.
I want to thank the author, Santina Louise for sending me a copy to read and review.
This book had me completely hooked from the beginning. I couldn’t put it down; the descriptions are incredibly vivid. I felt everything alongside Mia. My heart was tightening with hers, and you could truly feel her pain, anxiety, anger… every emotion hit so deeply and made her journey even more powerful. Mia is strong, determine and battling with her scars and trauma. Her journey felt raw and real specially with the PTSD representation woven into her character.
This story is full of all you love in a romantasy: action packed with amazing descriptive fight scenes, layered characters development, survival, forbidden bond, shifters, Protective MMC, prophecy, love triangle and a magic system that feels fresh and intriguing. I was on the edge and love it. That said, look for the content warning before diving in.
Overall, it's a gripping, emotional and action filled romantasy that keep me hooked. I will definitely contiue the serie.
Thank you to the author for the eARC, this is my honest review.
I was so engrossed in this, took me a little while to get round to starting it but I binged majority of it as I couldn't get enough! Shadow is a lifeline in this, Mia finds herself with him and what they learn together through hunting and trust, teaches them a lot along the way. I felt Shadows warmth towards Mia and his protectiveness was easy to see.
As the story progresses, Mia meets Talon a d his group, I like how they all interact with Mia. The fact she travelled with a direwolf before coming across them has given her a reputation that others want to thank her for.
The slavers sounds terrifying! I'm glad an arrow works well and quickly! A lot of training is needed but Mia is more than capable.
I'm pleasantly surprised to see its part of a series, I'd originally thought it was a standalone. Will keep an eye out!
An amazing reas with a world filled with characters that come to life on page one and grow with you and the adventures throughout the book.
Mia has lost her family, but has gained a great protector in a dire wolf. With her protector they become the realms greatest heroes when an invader from another world come along.
They become more then human and protector, but fate steps in and Mia is forced to leave one day.
Follow along to find out why Mia has left and whete she'll go on her journey.
