The Gallagher Girls are back. But this time, they’ve got baggage.

Sarah Gallagher wants one thing and one thing only—her own happily ever after. Don’t get her wrong, in her almost forty-nine years of life she’s been lucky enough to experience love in many forms, each changing and shaping her into the woman she is today. When unexpected circumstances start to change the relationships in her life, Sarah needs to decide if she’s finally ready to see how in her pursuit of love, she might be the only thing standing in her way.

Lily Gallagher has been busy. Busy chasing her dreams. College gymnastics season? Check. Super hot soccer player girlfriend? Check. Making the Olympic team again? Well, that’s to be determined. But as Lily gets closer to reaching her dreams, life decides to throw her a few curveballs. Will Lily slow down long enough to listen? Or will she take a deep breath, and power through even if it means losing everything?

If Beth Walsh had to pick one word to describe the last few years, it would be growth—something that’s always been a challenge for her to accept. Life has a funny way of pivoting, once again leaving Beth trying to figure out what happiness looks like to her in this lifetime. The only difference? This time, she did the work on herself first. Now the question is, was the work enough?

Second chances, new romances, and unbreakable queer family dynamics come to a head in Baggage—Book 3 of the Soulmate Series.

Thank you to Cass Morgan for the ARC. I have so many ARCs to read and a couple that come out before Baggage, but with everything that Cass has been posting, I had to read this as soon as I got the email.

Right away, your heart is ripped out. The author is clever with what she did with the prologue and first chapter. This review is going to be vague in order to not spoil anything. Because I do believe that this is best read without knowing anything except the first two books, Balancing Act, and Breadwinner in the Soulmate Series. I was 8% in and already bawling.

Saying Baggage is complicated is an understatement. I had complicated feelings about where the author chose to take this third book. I wasn’t sure I agreed with it. But even though I wasn’t sure I did. I understood it and it was real and messy and complex. It wasn’t until the very end that it all made sense(at least in my opinion) for the choices the author made.

Never in a million years would I have seen things going like this. But Cass Morgan is able to pull off such a raw story of love. And it’s love of all kinds. The whole soulmates aspect of it really comes to light towards the end. There’s something that Jamie says about soulmates and it was a light bulb moment for me. Someone had finally put into words what I felt or had been trying to convey about love & soulmates. God, I love the family that The Gallagher Girls have created.

I don’t think I can emotionally reread this. But what the heck?! Add this to the list of books that made me cry like a baby! 5 stars! First book in a while that I’ve finished in less than a day!

Baggage x Cass Morgan
Soulmate Series Book 3
Spice Level: 🔥🔥🔥
Out: 6/12/26

When I say the Soulmate Series lives rent free in my head, I don’t think that even does it justice! I read book 3 in essentially 1 day, because I 👏🏼 COULDN’T 👏🏼 PUT 👏🏼 IT 👏🏼 DOWN! Now with that being said, if you haven’t read Balancing Act and Breadwinner yet — do that first!!! I promise you, it will be worth your time!!!!

Baggage was full of just that, so much unpacking of baggage in such healthy ways! I won’t go into too many details, because spoilers aren’t fun for anyone — but let me just say this: I laughed, I swooned, I sobbed my eyes out, and I would do it all over again happily!

I love the Gallagher girls so dang much! I love reading about mature women having strong open communication, and seeing so much growth throughout. Then there’s the sass queen herself, Lily! What a treat it was to get inside her headspace, and see her grow up learning from such empowered women — you really get to see her make so many positive changes, her growth may have been the most beautiful part!

I’M BEGGING YOU TO READ THIS SERIES, THEN COME TALK TO ME ABOUT IT! 🩷💚💙

Baggage is the third book in the Soulmate Series, and books one (Balancing Act) and two (Breadwinner) should be read before reading Baggage. Please read those before reading this one.

Ugh… crying at the end of the first chapter and trying my damndest not to cry during the second chapter. Throughout the book too. Reading through blurry eyes. Yes you read that right. Ripped my heart out. Emotional damage, possibly.

Raw. Emotional. Growth. Vulnerability. Communication. Complex. Messy. Devastating.

F**k this has it all. F**k. F**kity. F**k.

I’m not going to spoil it. You need to experience this for yourself. Cass Morgan, you pulled this off. The Gallagher Girls are full of love, still as complicated, and learning to still grow. Baggage. Everyone has it. It’s how you sort through it and learn from it.

This book is well written. A tale of life lived, loved, and learned. Cass, you do this so well. I could not put this book down.

I knew it! That is all.

Thank you for the ARC. It was a pleasure even if I didn’t want the possible emotional damage. Honestly after this one, I still can’t wait to see where this all goes. Thank you again.

Somehow this series is so earnest and heartfelt while still being so hot. I particularly love seeing how the carefully negotiated relationship featured in Breadwinner played out in Baggage…something there isn’t always a playbook for, handled so carefully. Telling all my sapphic friends about this series!

This 3rd book in the Soulmate Series was something special, special in the good way, it made me feel so much that I will need to take a reading break to recover since my head is spinning from the experience and my body is hurting from all the tension I felt while reading. The first two books were great, and those books must be read and analysed before approaching this book that demands so much more from the reader. This book was so raw, complicated and hard to read, in essence exactly what I personally love the most when reading, to feel I am alive feeling all these feelings.

The teaser chapter for Baggage in Breadwinner has been discussed for months in various chat groups, our beloved Jamie, what is the author doing with us, can this really happen in the next book. So many questions asked and my worst fears came true in the very first chapter of the book. I gasped and did not know what to think, how can the author sell this whole new concept to me. I trusted the author and continued reading and I did of course love the storyline also in Baggage even if it is a book that makes you swear and want to throw away your phone a few times during the read. The MCs are frustrating at times, but they feel like close friends by now in book 3 so you somehow still want them to find happiness even if you hate some of their feelings and actions while reading. You also finally get the message why the author calls this the Soulmate Series, that concept is just perfect.

The title of the book is spot-on, we all have a lot of baggage to work through to be able to get to that good place and the MCs in this series more than most people. We even get two very complicated relationships to follow and that was such a bonus, even more characters to love and hate and struggle with their choices. The teaser that Baggage ended with hinting at the 4th book in the series makes me count the days until I get hold also of that book. Wren’s story was the hardest for me to read in this book, I need the next book very soon. In the meantime, once I find more readers that have read Baggage, I will love to speculate on what is to come. The need to do just that indicates this series is a must read for everyone loving complicated stories.

I received a free ARC from the author and leave an honest review voluntarily.

Firstly, thank you Cass Morgan for including me in your ARC team again, I’m honoured... and have already apologised for the running commentary of unhinged messages while reading!

I went into this book KNOWING it was going to hurt me. To say I was terrified... understatement. I love these characters, all of them. So knowing it was going to start the way it did... I wasn’t ready.

To truly appreciate the gravity of this family, you HAVE to read book 1 (Balancing Act - for Beth’s story) and book 2 (Breadwinner- for Sarah’s story). Without knowing everything they've already worked through, the payoff for Baggage won't hit the same.

Following all three of these ladies, it’s an emotional ride to be sure. Without giving spoilers, I can honestly say, the themes of grief, setting healthy boundaries, and truly knowing yourself and what you want are all expertly done. We can all learn from these lessons, while being carried through on a wave of long-lasting love.

Go into this with an open mind, because... it’s so worth it.
This really does show that love, and every form it comes in, is important. And one love doesn’t cancel out another. It makes every relationship meaningful.
I loved that the support network Beth, Sarah and Lily have are so fundamental throughout the story, and unwavering in that fact. Old friends and new. They all play a crucial role in their own way.

They’re part of their family, and... Gallagher’s stick together.

Lily is still my favourite character. Her sass, wisdom beyond her years, and her ability to just say what needs to be said is refreshing, fun and oh, so beautiful!
Like her mom, she asks all the questions...eventually.

I'm excited to see the woman she’s becoming and how she navigates everything put in front of her... even if she made me cry.
Yes, there were ACTUAL tears!
Damn it, Cass.
I don’t cry at books.
Movies, yes. Music, yes... Return home videos. Sure.
Not books.
Until now.

ARC Review - Baggage is the third (and the best) book in Cass Morgan’s Soulmate series. The writing has tightened up beautifully across the three books and the pacing of how the story unfolds is well done. The transitions between the three POV’s feel effortless and purposeful with Lily’s POV really elevating the story and bridging to Sarah and Beth’s narrative well.

This story carries a bittersweet emotional weight that shapes the entire narrative. Without giving too many spoilers, there are moments that hit hard, blending sadness and joy in a way that lingers. Cass makes some brave, unexpected choices to set the scene, taking the story in directions that feel fresh compared to other second‑chance romances I’ve read.

I’ve loved the Gallagher Girls across all three books, and I’ve been rooting for Sarah and Beth from the start. In Baggage, I fell even more in love with them. Their character growth, emotional honesty, and evolving family dynamics are deeply heartwarming. The story reinforces powerful themes around loving yourself, trusting your decisions, and allowing relationships to evolve in unconventional, healing ways.

I especially appreciated how Sarah gave Beth the space and patience she needed to find her way, and how both women learned to navigate communication with more openness and grace. Lily’s arc adds another tender layer as she grows into herself, experiencing her first love and all the messy, beautiful feelings that come with it.

One line in particular stayed with me:

“If Sarah was fire, Beth was the air that breathed her into existence.” Beautiful…

As with the first two books, the supporting cast adds favour and texture without ever overshadowing the core story. I remain intrigued by Nell, her integration into the family felt natural, warm, and quietly compelling.

Overall, Baggage is emotional, heartwarming, cleansing, and an absolute joy to read. I couldn’t put it down.

Thank you to Cass for the opportunity to read this ARC. I’m leaving this review voluntarily.

First of all, I’m deeply honored to have been picked by the author to receive this ARC, and second, I’m so in awe of Cass Morgan’s writing—every book she writes is such a page-turner. You definitely need to have read the first two installments before starting this one because it’s the only way to truly understand this book and why this series is called the way it is. I read Balancing Act and Breadwinner earlier this year, and once I got to the sneak peek of Baggage at the end of Breadwinner, I absolutely needed to have book 3, so I signed up immediately for an ARC.

I have to say I haven’t found a series this compelling in a very long time. It’s beautifully written, full of emotional, introspective, and heartbreaking moments perfectly woven into the story. If you think book one and two are a lot, book 3 is devastating in the best possible way. It really feels like the Gallagher Girls have come full circle.

I loved the alternating three POVs. In Balancing Act, we get access to Beth’s thoughts; in Breadwinner, we get a glimpse into Sarah’s head; and finally, in Baggage, we get to read what both of them are feeling and thinking, but we also get to see firsthand what’s going on in Lily’s life. Seeing all three sides adds so much depth and makes the emotional stakes even higher. The prologue and epilogue had me BAWLING; it felt like the perfect way to end Sarah and Beth’s journey back to each other.

By book 3, these characters feel like your friends, if not family…they had me cheering for them, crying, and getting frustrated at some of their choices, but ultimately, I felt so proud of how far they’ve come. Every character is essential to the series, even ones who are not at the center of the story—none of them feel like they’re there just for the sake of filling space.

I can’t get enough of Lily, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for her and Wren!

*** ARC REVIEW ***

Wow. What a beautiful journey Cass Morgan takes the reader on in this book. The first book in this series is amazing. The second book is wonderful and refreshingly different from the first. But this third book is everything. After reading the teaser at the end of book two, I knew Baggage was going to be an emotional read. I prepared myself beforehand. Or at least I thought I did. But I was not prepared for the heartbreak and healing that is Baggage.
Cass has created something special with this series. When I opened this book, I felt like I was returning to the home of a friend. All of the Soulmate characters are written so well, and with so much depth, that you form a connection with them. Baggage takes that connection and emotionally challenges you. From the beginning to the very end, you will FEEL all the feelings - the anger, frustration, love, joy, and sadness. I think that’s what makes it great and unforgettable.
The way the book is formatted is instrumental in how you experience the story. It really brings you alongside the characters and makes their journey so much more impactful.
I love the emotional maturity that is represented in Baggage. From the budding young adult relationship to the mature second chance relationship, and even the relationships that aren’t, the author illustrates the importance of choosing and loving yourself before you can choose and fully love someone else. It is so refreshing to see this portrayed in the context of this family and these characters.
With the Soulmate series, Cass has created something special and it is a privilege to be invited along as the Gallagher girls grow and live fully.

“A soulmate is someone lucky enough to bear witness to our lives in a way no one else does”

Baggage wrecked me in the best possible way, as the third installment in Cass Morgan’s Soulmate Series, this book builds beautifully on the emotional foundation of the first two novels.

Baggage is the journey to find that person whose baggage matches ours and Cass Morgan beautifully explores the concept that soulmates can be platonic, romantic, fleeting, lifelong, messy, healing, or even painful. Sometimes they stay forever, and sometimes they simply change you by arriving in your life at the exact moment you needed them. That emotional exploration sits at the core of this story.

Baggage explored the weight people carry into relationships, not just past heartbreak but the grief, family expectations, fear, old wounds, and the versions of ourselves we try so hard to outgrow. The emotional tension simmers throughout the entire book, but it is balanced with warmth, humor, tenderness, and chemistry.

The continued exploration of The Gallagher Girls family dynamic adds so much richness to the story. Interactions between characters feel lived-in, and the relationships—romantic and otherwise—carry history in a way that makes the characters feel tangible. People make mistakes, retreat, lash out, love imperfectly, and continue to find their way back to one another.

If you are looking for a book with emotional complexity, mature characters, palpable chemistry, and stories that explore all the different ways people can become soulmates to one another, Baggage delivers beautifully.

Unpacking “Baggage”

Baggage is the third sapphic novel in the Soulmate series by Cass Morgan. Balancing Act (book 1) and Breadwinner (book 2) should be read prior to reading Baggage.

Cass Morgan is an engaging, creative, and gifted author. She allows her readers to peer into the souls of the characters as they evolve and grow. Themes including family dynamics, grief healing, first love, and parenthood are expertly woven into the fabric of Baggage and highlight the well-developed personalities of each of the main characters. Personal connection with them comes easy and we root them on to succeed and cry with them when they struggle. The characters are real, relatable, believable people who draw you into their lives and journeys.

The plot, which flows seamlessly, is full of moments that are bittersweet, intimate, complex, intriguing, and joyous. Difficult situations are handled delicately, with effective resolutions.

After reading the two previous books, Balancing Act and Breadwinner, I immediately wanted to reread each one (and I did!). The same held true for Baggage.

Finally, a thought that resonates with me after reading Baggage: All people whom we’ve been in any form of a relationship with become part of our own personal journey; a part of our baggage, which doesn’t always have to hold negative connotation.

I’m anxiously awaiting the fourth book in the Soulmate series. Thanks, @cassmorganauthor!

I only found the Soulmate series in February. It took a quick day and half to read Balancing Act (book one). I immediately fell in love with all the characters. And I didn’t have to wait at all to read Breadwinner (book two).

So when I saw that Cass Morgan was looking for ARC readers for Baggage (book three) signing up was a no brainer.

I dove back into the world of the Gallagher girls so quickly that I didn’t read the content warning, which caused me to have to take a break ten minutes in. After composing myself, I continued to read late into the night.

As a reader in her early 40s, I’ve never related to any characters more than in this book. Baggage was the perfect title choice because we all have it, and like my favorite song from Rent tells us…I’m looking for baggage that goes with mine.

The addition of Lily as a main character adds so much to the story. Everyone can relate to the first love experience, and Morgan captures this well. You can’t help but to think back to your own first love.

I found myself laughing, crying, and blushing at those spicy scenes, which are always written with care and genuineness.

It took me less than a day to read because I had to see what happened to our girls.

When it was announced the 3rd book from Cass Morgan’s Soulmates Series would be coming out focusing on Sarah,Beth and Lily, I’ll admit I was nervous. The previous two books I had read made me fall in love with Beth and Jamie and then Sarah and Nell. Both couples got their happy endings… what more could I want or need?

I vividly remember reading the teaser at the end of Breadwinner and the family dynamic was one of the things I felt drawn too. How would Cass Morgan top either Balancing Act and Breadwinner?

Being lucky enough to receive an ARC of Baggage( my first ARC ever!!!) was a huge honor in my reading journey and after getting a few pages into it, I knew this book would take me on a rollercoaster of emotions and boy did it ever.

I laughed. I cried. I rooted for Lily. Do yourself a favor and read this book (I mean read the first two books and then come back to this one for peak emotional damage). The growth these characters go through were exceptionally well written and you can help but wanting to root for them all by the end.

You absolutely have to read the first two books in the series before this one , this is book 3, and I was beyond excited to get the ARC. Going in, I was honestly nervous because I’m a HUGE Team Jamie fan and never really connected with Sarah in the earlier books.

Saying that, I binged the book in 1 day and couldn't put it down. This book gave me a full-on emotional hangover that lasted for days. It dives deeply into grief, loss, boundaries, healthy relationships, and coming-of-age themes in a way that completely wrecked me emotionally (in a good way). I think the key to enjoying this one is going in with an open mind and without being overly attached to one specific couple or what you think the outcome should be.

Without giving spoilers, I absolutely loved the soulmate tie-in and the deeper meaning behind it. I also loved getting more of Lucy’s story and cannot wait to see more from her in future books. The writing and storytelling were exceptional. I felt fully immersed in the story the entire time, which is probably why it hit so hard emotionally.

The author accomplished exactly what she set out to do: destroy you emotionally, rebuild everything piece by piece, and walk you through the repair by the end. And now that my emotional hangover is finally over, I can honestly say I cannot wait for more!

I knew I would never be prepared for how devastating this book would be but I needed to be able to read it as soon as possible once information was released. I am beyond grateful to have gotten my hands on an ARC of this book so I didn’t have to wait until June to see what happened!

I was definitely nervous going into this third book not knowing what directions the characters would be taken in and expecting a fair amount of heavy material. Although I may selfishly not love all of the choices, every decision felt very authentic to the story and the characters and provided the necessary space for growth.

Definitely not a light and fluffy two people meet, fall in love, and end up happy together kind of romance we are used to. But Cass Morgan knows how to create complex characters and provide them the space to make mistakes, change, and grow. The love stories in the Soulmates universe are raw and authentic and I can’t wait to see how hard the next books stomp on my heart and then put it back together again😭

(4.5 stars but rounding up)

It’s an honor to receive an advance copy of Baggage prior to its release in June!

Baggage is the 3rd book in the Soulmate series by Cass Morgan. I read Balancing Act (#1) last October and have been excited to follow the characters along with Breadwinner (#2), and now Baggage. Baggage should be read only after reading the first two in the Soulmate series for the best experience.

“We all come with baggage. Isn’t the whole point to find someone whose baggage goes with yours?”

I stayed up late to finish this and it was beautiful. As with the first two books, Cass Morgan explores romantic relationships, friendships, and family in a very tender way.

Each and every single character is a fully fledged individual, but also someone who is a part of something greater. The Gallagher girls are messy, vulnerable, and open to experiencing love and life fully. The characters exhibit so much growth from Breadwinner, while still having realistic struggles as they all navigate the different baggage they have. What a beautiful thing it is to love, live, and learn.

Breadwinner came in swinging by Chapters 2–3 and never let up. This book completely shattered the standard romance formula in the best possible way—equal parts heartfelt, messy, witty, and deeply human. It celebrates love and connection in both traditional and nontraditional forms, leaving readers reflecting on the relationships that shape them most.

The tension? Immaculate. The banter? Sharp enough to highlight. The emotional payoff? So worth it. And the ABBA references sprinkled throughout were the cherry on top.

Cass Morgan once again proves she’s a master of pacing, character development, and writing relationships that feel achingly real while still delivering the kind of satisfying ending that keeps you thinking long after the final page.

And trust me—read the first two books in the Soulmate Series before diving in. This one hits even harder when you’ve fallen in love with these characters from the very beginning.

Baggage was bittersweet, but it was also magical. Cass Mogan’s strength lies in her deep and truthful exploration of relationships and love in all forms.

You cannot be indifferent while reading Baggage. We are often used to romance where two people meet, fall in love, and then get their happily-ever-after in a rather straightforward manner. This isn’t the case here. The Gallagher girls have to fight for it. They have to face their own baggage to find it. It’s a journey, it’s not linear, it can be messy, it just feels real.

I won’t lie, the emotions I felt reading this book were not all positive. It made me sit with the uncomfortable, but it also made me reflect on my own perception of what love is. I knew I was going to cry, but I got the reasons why wrong. These reactions show how impactful and meaningful Baggage is, and this is true for the whole series.

There are many more things I would love to discuss about Baggage, but I won’t spoil the experience of going blindly reading it. I said it before, and I will say it again: Cass Morgan is a hell of a writer.

This is the 3rd book in the series I’ve had the privilege to read. To say Cass Morgan knows how to write full well rounded characters feels like an understatement. She has truly captured the beauty in growth and allowing for change as humans. Her characters are curious and ask themselves and you as the reader tough questions. While the genre may be romance it is so far beyond that in my eyes. It is a world I would love to be a part of in found family, friends, and filled with romance. I look forward to all the future books in this series as they feel like friends now and I’m rooting for all of them. Expect tears of sadness and joy. This book covers many characters experiencing and Cass is able to keep the momentum going and connecting all the lines in a beautiful way and you can’t help but want more!!! Enjoy the ride of this author’s skill in crafting a world that feels truthful and impactful!!!

Baggage by Cass Morgan the 3rd installment of the Soulmate Series had me hooked from page one! The Gallagher girls are back and better than ever!!! Where do I even begin?!
I love how Cass gave Lilly a voice in this book. Having her point of view complimented what team Gallagher is all about. Support, unconditional love, loyalty, humor, trust, and growth so much growth!
Sarah and Beth’s growth was absolutely remarkable. Cass’s character development absolutely blew me away! What I enjoyed most about it was the awareness of each character to their new found growth, and their mindfulness of staying present and not falling back into their old patterns. This book left me wanting more of the Gallagher Girls I definitely did not want this book to end!
Cass you’ve done it again! Thank you for including me in your ARC team!

It has taken me a full 10 days to process this book before I could write this review. I have had so many mixed emotions and possibly even gone through a few stages of grief with this one. I spent half the book in denial. Then, definitely anger and bargaining, and I think we've finally made it to acceptance.
This one is hard to go into much detail without spoilers, but I think the most important thing to take away from this is that despite not wanting everything to happen the way it occurred, I have spent the last ten days thinking about this book EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. And most of those days I also talked to other people about this book. This book and this series has definitely made an impact and sparked conversations, which I know is one of the reasons authors create. I am definitely intrigued by the preview for book 4 and can't wait to see what comes next with these characters.

Thank you so so much for the ARC. It was a solid 4.5 stars from me.

Baggage is the amazing 3rd book in the Soulmates series, and it definitely holds up!

Miscommunication trope? Not here! These characters are so well written, have gone through an insane amount of growth and it's been beautiful to see where they've ended up.

I feel like I've really gone on a journey with these books and come out a better person for it. The power of communication and adult conversations, the exploration of different kinds of love and chosen family is perfect.

If you want something heartwarming, emotional but all round powerful, this is the series

What a ride!! Cass Morgan delivered beyond my wildest expectations! This 3rd installment of the Soulmate series is without a doubt a must read (after you finish the first two) that will NOT leave you disappointed! I am in awe of the way Cass is able to craft and communicate these stories and to do it so eloquently. I don’t believe in giving any spoilers, but I will say, be prepared to buckle up for the best kind of emotional ride and remember the journey is just as good as the destination!!

Thank you Cass Morgan for the ARC!

Ever since I finished Breadwinner, I have been waiting for this book so eagerly, and let me tell you, it was worth the wait!

Baggage had me feeling all kinds of emotion, it was a rollercoaster in the best way. I really didn’t know what to expect going into this book, but my expectations have been exceeded. Cass Morgan does such a wonderful job at bringing her characters to life and giving them such great chemistry.

If you enjoyed the first 2 books in this series, you will love this one just as much!

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book (thank you, Cass!) and boy did it not disappoint. I laughed, I cried (the epilogue broke me), I swooned. Going into the book and knowing there were 3 POVs, I wondered how it would be done cohesively. Well, it was done with absolute perfection. Cass did a wonderful job at giving each character their own story without losing the flow of a unified book. And let’s not forget Cass’ writing style.. it’s so beautifully descriptive— really makes the reader feel as though they’re catapulted into the world she created. 5 stars! I’m SO excited for book 4!

Engaging with how important Chosen Family is and how the people in your life change you - CHECK

Going to pre-order the hard copy because obviously you need to add the signed addition of Baggage to your first 2 Cass Morgan books because the digital ARC isn’t enough - CHECK
