French sociologist Ugo Palheta, specialist of the far right, co-publishes with illustrator Tommy a comic book presenting a short overview of the French far right, focused on the Rassemblement National (RN) party, which has over the last few years become / been made a major force in the field of French politics.
With a foreword of famous historian Johann Chapoutot, specialist of Nazi Germany, and author among others of books around the period when the Nazis were handed the power, this book here explores the history of the RN (originally named Front National / FN) within the realm of the French far right, what its ideology is, how it became so massive in today's French politics, and who - willingly or not - helped it get its currently notoriety.
More than a simple depressive account of an unstoppable force, the book is pretty meticulous in its socio-economic and historical analyses, and hints at ways to resist the coming (fascist) wave: collectively waking up and resisting. A good compendium to engage the discussion in the coming 2027 French elections.
