Grace Abrahams helps ghosts – particularly those who were murdered. She meets the ghosts at storage locker auctions.
In this story, Grace meets a young girl, Abbie Quill, who died on her eighteenth birthday. Abbie was the victim of a hit and run. Grace discovers that Abbie waved to the driver just before the car sped up and raced towards Abbie on purpose.
Abbie can’t remember who the driver was, but she knows she saw L-plates on the car. It’s not long before Grace discovers several suspects – all with L-plates on their cars. But who killed Abbie? And why?
I'm an avid fan of mystery stories. I started reading Agatha Christie novels at an early age. My favourite fiction detective is Poirot, I love his fussy ways and his attention to small details. I love the TV series, 'Murder She Wrote' and have watched every episode. I like working out who the killer is, and what the clues are.
I live near Leeds, Yorkshire, which is in the north of England. My two daughters live with me and they are understanding about my passion for mystery shows! I've now discovered 'Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries'.
I've been wanting to write my own mystery stories for years - and now I finally have.
A lot happened in this part of the series, and it definitely kept me turning the pages. The writing style is simple and easy to read, which made it even more enjoyable to follow all the twists and secrets that were revealed.
Abby sometimes got on my nerves, but I had to remind myself she’s just an 18-year-old girl carrying a big secret. Her best friend, though, frustrated me even more—I just couldn’t understand how Abby could stay friends with someone so fake, and how her friend could act that way.
On the bright side, I absolutely loved Big Bob in this book (and maybe a little bit of Frankie too, haha). Big Bob is such a great character—loyal, supportive, and just an all-around big soft bear. He really added warmth and heart to the story.

In A Deadly Lesson, Grace Abrahams encounters the ghost of frightened teenager, Abbie Quill, at a storage locker auction. Abbie was struck and killed on her 18th birthday by a hit-and-run driver.
A Deadly Lesson takes its title from driving lessons. Grace has been traumatized since she survived the car accident that took the lives of her parents on her own birthday. She has been unable to drive a car since that horrible night and as part of her investigation discovers that Abbie had been struggling to pass her drivers test before her murder. With the help of the same driving instructor, Grace is able to resolve her issue and some of Abbie’s as well.
This entry in the Storage Ghost Murder Mystery series introduces a new recurring character involved in the stories. It is a longer, more complex book and another welcome addition to the series. The stories just keep getting better and better.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...
1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.
2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
Another great Grace Abrahams mystery. Grace can see ghosts and only ghosts who were murdered and she meets them at storage locker auctions.
This time around she is helping a young woman, Abbie Quill, who died on her eighteenth birthday. Young Abbie was a victim of a tragic hit and run accident and Grace discovers that Abbie waved at the driver just before the car raced towards Abbie purposely.
Abbie does not remember who the driver was and the only thing she can remember is that the driver had L-plate on the car. And Grace discovers several suspects and all have L-plates on their cars. Who would want to hurt Abbie? Why would the want to hurt Abbie?
I gave this five stars because of the unique backdrop to this cozy mystery. Combines "Ghost Whisperer" and "Storage Hunters" television influence. Simple to read, has humor and a great plot. This is my third Gillian Larkin book, and look forward to another. I highly recommend taking time to read this book.
Such a sweet, yet sad, story. At first I felt that the ghost in this story was going to be too annoying, but she really grew on me and it turned into a lovely tale. As always it took a long time to even guess who the killer was!
This book was so sad. But good. It's all about being a teen, becoming an adult, and having someone take your life. It's also about knowing who your real friends are!! And learning only after the fact that they really weren't your friends...
