Wow, what a ending.. I am a first time reader of this S.M. Phillips, and I found Obsession to be a very good read.
There is very little background given on the main characters Jensen and Anna, but It leaves a since of mystery to them and I confident it will all come out in the end. Jensen and Anna definitely have great chemistry. However do not expect any steamy hot sex scenes, they start off that way, but are cut off immediately jumping to later that night or next day. This was a little disappointing only because Jensen has a dominant character, but you never get to see that. However it doesn't take away from the story. This was still a fabulous read that ends with a cliffhanger and I can not wait to start the next book.

Meet Jenson he's arrogant and appears to have no people skills...... then again that's just around Anna. Anna she's no angel either, she has a sharp mouth on her, put these two together in room and there's going to be fireworks. They really don't like one another but can't deny the attraction. Anna is very reluctant to admit she fancies Jenson as his the type of guy she's trying to keep away from, slowly Jenson changes his way of dealing with Anna and things warm up nicely.
I really didn't like Jenson to begin with and agreed totally with how Anna reacted to him, but he got under my skin. Now if only book characthers talked more, both Jenson and Anna have a history they're hiding, these things have away of catching up with you!
A great read with strong characthers and an interesting storyline that grabbed me quickly, I can't wait for book 2.

"Hate mixed with attraction doesn't mix well, or at least that's what I'm learning quickly the longer I'm around him."
I love me a bad boy and a take no shit girl! Jensen is mean and always in control he also has some mystery about him, add that with his totally hot exterior and you get the whole package, our love to hate Hero. He doesn't expect to be challenged by Anna (h) and totally drawn to her. He tells himself she's just a hot piece of ass but there is something there and he can't figure it out because he doesn't even like the girl.
Who is this asshole that just entered every part of Anna's life? Why is he everywhere and why can't she get him out of her mind? She hates bad boys and will never date one again...but here he is and she's drawn to him. And she doesn't even like the guy.
Maybe one night will get Anna out of Jensen's system?
I really liked this book but I really don't like cliffhangers and this one is a doozy. I really don't have anything negative to say about the book except for that, and the fact that I was confused about where they lived and where they were from because of the slang. Americans just don't talk like that. Other than that I loved this book. I hated the way Jensen treated Anna in the beginning but you could see his tough exterior slip as he became more drawn to or "obsessed" with Anna.
Anna was such a toughie on the outside but she was just broken on the inside. I wanted to kill her cousin from what she did but that's all a little mysterious too. You get peaks as to why Anna is so broken but not a whole lot about it, I think by the way it ended we will probably get more on that in the next book.
I loved how the author had us despising the way Jensen and Anna are towards each other but rooting for them too. I also loved the angst in this book...just the right amount. I just couldn't give it 5 stars because of the ending,but it was a great read. I recommend, but you might want to wait until the next book is out if you're anything like me. If cliffhangers don't bother you then go for it and enjoy. It's a good one but a bumpy ride.

She bought me Max and now she's bought me Jensen! Damn girl , you know how to spoil a gal pal!
So Anna goes to her cousin , Holly , to clear her mind and sort herself out . But, Holly ups and leaves with her latest beau leaving Anna to run her bar
" Temptation" with Joey , the local man whore , to help . I shouldn't be so hard on Joey he's a real pisscat but he's got a good heart . Well Anna is not charmed , to say the least but life is about to get a whole lot more interesting when , unknown to her , Holly not only sells "Temptation" but her flat as well!
Jensen is an all alpha male , not lacking anything in the self confidence department , he's rather arrogant actually and he runs Anna up the wrong way ! So its fireworks right from the very start between these 2 ! I can't help but chuckle , just to add insult to injury the delicious yet annoying hunk of a man is now to be her new roomie !
Jensen is a bit of a drifted and doesn't stay in the same place for too long . He has a friend that sorts of tags along wherever he goes , Boyd , he's such a card! Jensen and Boyd have an easy , laid back relationship. These guys may seem a little rough around the edges but at heart they're good men .
Jensen is so full of it ! He's convinced Anna is cranky because she needs nook and new more than happy to volunteer , typical behaviour from our self assured alpha males !
Both Jensen and Anna have ghosts that haunt them , the sad thing is ,sometimes they come back for you .
Mitchell Blake , Jensen's older brother , is a dark horse and not someone to mess with , his time in prison is about to end and he's going to stay with Jensen which is worrisome because you never know what trouble is going to follow him . There seems to be a thorn in their side named Dominic , he sounds shady and sends shivers up my spine!
What I appreciate about Anna is that she's trying to mend the bridge with her father , when she left they weren't on the best foot and he seems like a real sweetheart. What worries me is , it would seem shes running from trouble and that kind of trouble has a way of finding you !
I must give t to our girl Anna , good on for studying despite everything that's going n around her !
Minnie is well suited to her name , I find her a hand full and rather demanding but again she's good at heart . I see the little green eyed monster makes an appearance when other women appear in Jensen's life , tsk tsk retract those claws sunshine !
Jensen you're the man ! Putting your feelings out there first <3 Now that Jensen and Anna finally get their groove on and stop playing games they can't seem to keep their hands off each other !
The unknown danger lurking about in corners added more chills and thrills to the tale , well other than those caused by Jensen !
Jensen's path crosses with Anna's past , unknown to them and this provide as a major cliffhanger and I'm like WTH !?

Well, now now- life just got very interesting!!! Jensen Blake is in the house!!
I just couldn’t help myself as politically incorrect he may be at times, the man just has something about him that sent a tingle right to my toes.
Anna is holed up at her cousin Holly’s house and has been dumped straight in at the deep end looking after Holly’s business a popular bar * Temptation” , when Holly takes off with her new man.
Not the shrinking violet type, Anna is fairly abrasive, to be honest I wasn’t sure I liked her to start with and I am still a little 50/50 but there is a back story lurking around her like a dark cloud that I would have liked to had a bit more of but the author is playing that card very close to her chest.
Whatever is going on and has her miels from home, she thinks she is beginning to findher feet when Holly does the unthinkable and sells not only the bar but the house.
In steps Jensen, in all his glory!
Look up Alpha in the diary and I am sure that Jensen will be battling to be the quintessential definition of the word – he is so damn sure of himself but he has other things on his mind and much like Anna a history that is seriously jaded.
Getting Anna on side is not an easy task when it comes to light that he has bought the bar, hell when he rocks up at the house all hell breaks loose but can this pair become roomies without the overwhelming desire to kill each other taking over or will other desires take over.
Well, what do you think, can she resist his charm?- Can she hell but does it all end well – not a chance!
Jensen makes his move and she falls for it, the morning after is difficult and crossed wires mean that they are further apart than ever but when Minnie adds her tuppence worth to the mix and Jed helps to bring Jensen’s arrogant possessive streak into the mix, they are left with little choice but to try an work it out – Jensen faces uncharted territory and is honest with Anna about how he feels about her but will he get the chance to have her again because his or more importantly his brother’s past seems too have caught up with them.
The story has so much more to give that I am looking forward to the next book already. I want to hear more of Mitchell and the mysterious Dominic.
I want to know if my hunch is correct in that the connection somewhere between whatever happened to Anna to make her run and the Blake brothers is going to be epic is correct. It is all so cloak and dagger that my mind is working overtime and also who the hell is Jed and why is he so fixated on Anna?
I like Boyd, he seemed like the loveable rogue who will do anything for his best friend Jensen, I also like Joey, Anna’s hapless sidekick from the bar.
But most of all I was besotted by Jensen, he may not be everyone’s cup of tea but he is flavour of my month at the minute!!!

Obsession by S.M. Phillips was a welcome release from the regular plot lines that seem to have become common yet again among New Adult Romance Novels. Although it does start off a little slow it does pick up after a few chapters and the plot lines within Obsession are different enough to put its hooks in you creating a constant craving for more, a true moreish novel with a twist!
Anna has something she needs to run from, something she needs to ensure that she keeps moving from place to place so she stays safe, her life is on the line.......... finding her cousin Holly living in nondescript place but owning a bar and her own home allows Anna a chance at being able to settle down somewhat. After moving in with Holly and telling her all, Holly decides one day to take a chance on a different life leaving Anna in the house, managing the bar single handedly, up to her eyes in Holly's bills and feeling overwhelmed. Whats more Holly has now stopped answering her calls and Anna isn't sure what her next step should be - true she is off the grid as she is not leaving any paper trail, working cash in hand, living in someone elses home, - it all adds up for her to stay but with everything up in the air, money running tight and bills to pay Anna is not sure what to do.
Jared, Oh Jared - What a wicked game you play........... Jared was a character I instantly disliked as I thought he was a bit of an arse and that's putting it politely! But as the plot progresses you discover that you should not always judge a book by it's cover nor that initial presumptions about someone are always right because although Jared is without a doubt a bad boy with plenty to hide, he is also a really nice guy underneath it all. There are a lot of secrets and a major one that you will not see coming. Jared and Anna don't exactly hit it off when they meet, Jared has bought Holly's bar and house in one fell swoop - Anna feels like this has not only been done behind her back but also from under her feet.
Ending up working and house sharing together the heat between them begins to rise regardless of their dislike for each other..........Will the sparks turn into flames??
A cracking book that had me entertained from start to finish and I can see easily why S.M Phillips called the novel Obsession because I am Obsessed with getting my hands on book 2 in this series!!

This was a great story! I really enjoyed all characters, and the story made me laugh and swoon. Jensen is one HOT alpha male. The way he takes over in every situation that has to do with him, was priceless!
Anna leaves her home town to get away from her past. She moves in with her cousin and starts to work at her cousin's bar. One thing she didn't plan was her cousin up and leaving her without a notice, which left Anna to deal with all her responsibilities.
In walks, Jensen! Jensen is every girls dirty dream! LOL.. He's demanding, he's strong headed and he is one dirty talker who say's everything and anything that comes to his mind. Jensen and Anna's relationship is best described by saying "fire and ice"! Anna's body is constantly on fire when ever Jensen is close to her, but her attitude towards him is ice cold. Anna is keeping everyone and anyone at a distance and can't afford to let anyone know the truth about her past. Jensen knows that she is hiding something, and he does what he can to break down her ice walls.
"You're my fucking obsession, Anna, and there's not a goddamn thing that I can do about it. I've tried my best to ignore how I feel about you, but it's fucking killing me."
There were so many twist and turns that took place in this story. I can't wait to see what goes on in book 2! While I was reading, I was trying to figure out what was going on, who was who, and how things within the story are related. Towards the end of the book, a new character comes into play that left me with so many questions. I can't tell if he is really a good guy, or if he is up to something! I hope he is good because he seems so likeable, but something just keeps telling me to beware! I hope I'm wrong because I like him, but that will also keep the story intriguing! So, in order to get answers to all my questions, I'm in need of book 2! I'm definitely looking forward to reading it!

I hope he is good because he seems so likeable, but something just keeps telling me to beware! I hope I'm wrong because I like him, but that will also keep the story intriguing! So, in order to get answers to all my questions, I'm in need of book 2! I'm definitely looking forward to reading it!

With a past of his own and moving from place to place most of his adult life , he has become someone who knows what he wants and how to get it , but Anna is that curveball that throws everything out of sink . There's something about Anna that makes him believe in more .
I have to admit after reading the first few pages I was unsure about Jensen that just wasn't making me like him and I was beginning to think ' oh god Steph ! What have you done ? Where's my nice hot alpha male ? You've given us this arrogant, demanding bad boy . You can't have me hating him , it's not right !' . But reading further into the book I'm slowly warming to him ( phew ) , realising Jensen is the way he is because of his past . By the end of the book I've realised that I've completely fallen for him , hook line and sinker ! You do it too me every time . First Max and now Jensen !!
I am and will be recommending this book to anyone and everyone who asks about finding a new bad boy . Steph is a fantastic author who has managed to pull it off again !

I want to say that I loved the story line. Jenson & Anna left me wanting more of them, BUT the novel was full of grammatical and spelling errors which really distracted from the story.
Anna is definitely running scared from something in her past. Jenson is a hot-headed, alpha male who doesn’t really know how to be nice (or so it seems in the beginning).
The two of them collide in a big way when Anna’s cousin (who she lived with, but split town soon after Anna arrived) sold Jenson the bar where Anna works as well as the house where Anna lives. Forced to not only work together, but also live together both of them handle the situation differently.
Anna has no doubt that Jenson is attractive, but hates his attitude and need to boss her around. Jenson finds Anna physically beautiful, but the fact that she can’t get the stick out of her butt forces him to reevaluate his desire for her multiple times in the novel.
They both have dark pasts that they are trying to escape separately because they both insist that their private life is private, but can they come together and battle the bad together with more success?
As I read the book, I did find myself liking Jenson more and more. Though he comes across gruff, he’s really just trying to find his new way. Anna, however, really never clicked with me. She felt like she could just shut off the cold shoulder if she really wanted, but she chose not to. Even when Jenson opened himself up to her and admitted that he had feelings he didn’t know how to handle.

What happens when you’re running from your past to safety but find yourself but thrown into something else that’s not even your mess? Well that’s the question running through Anna mind when she thinks she can depend on her friend but finds her security blanket severely shaken. One day every day is find the next day there is a stranger at the bar saying he’s her new boss.

I was lucky enough to be given an ARC of obsession by the author.
Jenson is an asshole!!! I absolutely love him! He's cocky and obnoxious he's so sure of himself that I literally found myself laughing at how unsure Anna made him.
Now Anna is a proper cold fish, but there's so much fear that she's struggling to hide that I'm really not at all sure who she is.
Together Anna and Jenson make a brilliant couple 25% of the time they are ripping each other’s clothes off and for the other 75% they hate each other’s guts lol.
I'm totally intrigued as to what the hell happened with her ex. It must be bad for her to have run and still be in hiding.
Jed’s got something to do with all this; I’ve got a bad feeling about him!!!
I get the impression that Jenson’s brother is the key to everything I can't wait to read the next instalment.

Obsession... when it deals with love can be overwhelming. In the case of this book, it is an all encompassing passion for someone where control, ownership and jealousy play equally on the mind.
The undercurrent of impending doom flows through the pages of this book from the very beginning. After finishing reading it, I am still not quite certain what it is that Anna did to Dominick that set off her current predicament. I also do not know what exactly did Mitchell do to Dominick that has caused him to pursue revenge relentlessly. This is the mystery that hopefully will be revealed in the next book in this series.
What is known is that Anna and Jensen are combustible to each other. She is the gasoline and he is the match. Their love affair is explosive and turbulent. They both are scared to lose their heart to the other and to have to deal with the consequences later.
As a story, this has a wonderful plotline. The advanced copy I received needed editing/proofreading so I cannot comment on that. The writer does use the idioms true to the United Kingdom, but if you are a fan of reading international authors, you will find this to be refreshing and delightful.
I am eagerly awaiting the next book. The end of book 1 is a cliffhanger and I am impatient to find out what happens next.

I’m just going to throw this out there…. I NEED MORE!!!! Like now, not tomorrow not two days from now, NOW. But, I will be patient and wait. This book starts off kind of slow, but not enough to bother a reader. It starts to pick up and when it does, you are not going to want to ever quit reading. I love the chemistry that Jensen and Anna have. It is a love-hate relationship, and they just hate to love each other.
Anna is hiding, and the only one that knows it is not there, and has just sold the house that she is living in and the bar that she is working at. The new owner is a jackass. Jensen thinks he’s a badass, but Anna has him by the balls.
I’m pretty sure that this is the first book that I have read by S.M. and I can guarantee that this isn’t going to be the last. I love her writing. The only negative that I saw in this book was the language (no not bad language) the kind of language that the characters were using. Anna is from California, and moves across the country, but uses words that are from England (does that make sense?) It confused me there for a little bit, but after continuing reading, I was able to follow along just fine. This is a strong book, I need to read what is next. You will not be disappointed with this book at all!!

Well I thought Max Wild was it, but no Steph brings in Jenson, think Max might have a bit of competition.
Anna has moved to live with her cousin to get away, but what is Anna running away from? I liked Anna she is very strong and feisty. Running her cousin Holly's bar, (who has decided to run off with a man for a good time), I suppose Anna needs to be strong especially working along side Joey.
Anna couldn't bring herself to just walk away from the mess her cousin left behind so she is picking up the pieces.
Life is about to change though, welcome Jenson the new owner of the bar, Anna is pissed as she has been the last to know Holly couldn't even call her and tell her, to make it worse Holly has also sold the house to Jenson yes Anna's home now belongs to him to.
Jensen and Anna don't get on she won't take orders from anyone and he expects people to do what he says. It's his way or the highway.
Tensions build and the chemistry coming of these to is electric. But we all want to know what Anna's story is and what's Jensen's story?
I had so many theories and I did get it right but omg what a freaking ending. S M Phillips is one hell of an evil cliffy queen but I'm so excited for the next instalment of these two.

Firstly, the cover of this book totally drew me in. I'm not usually a cover whore but this one is just stunning!
The matter inside is equally as hot. If you're looking for a ballsy female lead you have got that in spades with Anna. This girl is independent, self-sufficient and well fired up to put any BS straight. Although we find she does have a soft spot for the bad boys. You know those sexy, dark & brooding types that promise danger and excitement with just a hint of well hidden affection and lavish you with protection? Well, if that's your preferred dish then Jensen is going to blow your knickers off. Dayum, that dude is dark, dirty & damn divine.
The plot in this book is intrigue at its best, it keeps you gripped & constantly trying to fathom what Anna is running from and the past that keep Jensen moving. Which brings me to the fact that this is one HUGE cliffhanger. Like, seriously, way to keep a sister hangin' Ms Phillips! Totally amazing read and believe me when I say you WILL want the sequel because there is no way you want be left wanting; no, demanding more of Jensen & Anna. 5 Obsessed stars from me!

I was gifted this book for an honest review. Although this book was poorly proof read, the content was phenomenal! There is very little back story on the main characters but, with the cliffhanger ending, I'm hoping more will be revealed in the next book. The author did a fabulous job at creating the characters and bringing them to life. I look forward to the continuation of Jensen and Anna's story!

Anna left home and went to her cousin's to hide out. She helps out at her bar and goes to school while at the same time trying to keep hidden. Then her cousin leaves without a word and sells the bar and her home to Jensen. Jensen and Anna do not hit it off at the beginning at all and mix as well as oil and water. They are constantly at each other's throats. I have to admit that I didn't much like Jensen at the start. He was rude and abrasive and Anna responded in kind. I wanted to kick him every time he suggested that all she needed was a good shag. Part of the problem is that they are both very attracted to each other. Anna resists because she has already been there and done that with the bad boy which got her into the mess that she's in right now. Jensen just wishes he could get her out of his head. One night they give in to the attraction and spend a passionate night together. Just as they are moving forward together as whatever they might be, they realize that they have more in common than they could've imagined. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Wow oh wow. Steph you have done yourself proud with this book. So yes I loved Max Wild in Down Under Trilogy, but Jenson Blake is something else.
I loved Anna from the start, she is a very strong female character. She has had to make it on her own and fights for herself. Jenson is a fantastic character, even though he can be arrogant and controlling, he is still very loveable.
I didn't know what to expect with the story, and it wasn't your typical girl meets boy, both hate each other then realise they are in love. This book had suspense and some of the things that happened where very unexpected.
The storyline and characters are fantastic, the book was written very well and kept me on the edge of my seat.
The story ended on a big cliffhanger, not a bad one, but I can't wait to see what happens with Jenson and Anna. I kind of have a feeling of something that will happen, but my lips are sealed.

omg this book is AMAZING, but I don't think I've ever wanted to slap two people so bad before. Jenson is arrogant, seeks control in all things, even his feelings toward Anna. Anna is a spitfire, she's not falling for a bad boy especially one like Jenson. well the heart wants what the heart wants, but these two hate each other as much as they love each they just want admit it. The chemistry is amazing between these two , it's hot, sexy and yet there is still so much to learn about these two. looking forward to the book for sure.
omg this book is AMAZING, but I don't think I've ever wanted to slap two people so bad before. Jenson is arrogant, seeks control in all things, even his feelings toward Anna. Anna is a spitfire, she's not falling for a bad boy especially one like Jenson. well the heart wants what the heart wants, but these two hate each other as much as they love each they just want admit it. The chemistry is amazing between these two , it's hot, sexy and yet there is still so much to learn about these two. looking forward to the book for sure.

Jensen Blake man what a hottie he is but he's also strong and keeps things to himself when he needs to let out his feelings. Anna has been threw hell and it just seems like things will not be getting better for her and when Jensen walks in and throws up everything she has worked so hard for. When her cousin up and leaves her to run the bar and then she finds out she not only sold the bar but her home as well. Things start to heat up. Jensen has secrets and Anna has a jealous streak she never knew she had. But what happens when both of their past collide? Well you will have to wait and see.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read! The story of Anna and how she came to be where she is now. I totally get her apprehensive behavior towards new people. Oh... And Jensen! I was hooked to him from the beginning. Total Alpha, sexy as sin, male. Love it!
As for Holly... I would love to slap her upside the head. Enough said there.
Jed... I swear something's up there but I don't know what!

I received this for an honest review.. I have to say that this was a very good read...In this book we meet Jenson and Anna. Both are very volitle characters and I think that is what makes them the ideal couple and their chemistry is off the freaking charts. I cant wait for the next one (I feel like there has to be a next one). This book will keep you interested from the beginning to the very end.. Jenson is that man you love to hate but will grow on you.... Such a good read!!!

loved the HOT story line in this, i asked for the chase and i got it.
Anna & Jensen are a great hot love/hate couple.
he extremely rude, arrogant, dominant, loves him self sooo much...BUT jeez is he sexy as fook.
he has a right to be arrogant lol
i recieved this free from the author,im desparate to read book 2, but in the mean time im searching her other reads, as i cant get enough.

This is the first book from Steph that I've read and it won't be the last.
It's written in both Jenson and Anna's pov the chemistry between these two is explosive they fight it and fight it but it had to happen soon. Then damn your at the end if the book with a huge cliff hanger and I have no idea when the next book is coming out!!!!!
