Masters of the Universe (Film): Teela: Daughter of Eternos
From New York Times bestselling author Mackenzi Lee comes a thrilling tale set in the world of the Masters of the Universe live-action film, where Eternian warrior Teela must decide how much she’s willing to sacrifice to save the people—and home—she loves.
A FALLEN KINGDOM
Four years after Skeletor decimated the kingdom of Eternos, Teela and the scattered refugees of Eternia survive by never staying in one place for long. When a brutal storm of acidic rain deep within the Evergreen Forest leaves their camp ravaged and hope at its thinnest, some, like Teela’s friend Locke, begin to plan for a future beyond Eternia. But Teela knows her father Duncan, the once-mighty Man-At-Arms, won’t survive leaving the land he swore to protect.
A FORBIDDEN ALLIANCE;
Desperate to save her people, Teela ventures to Darksmoke to bargain with the ancient dragon Granamyr. He bestows upon her a vial filled with a mysterious, powerful elixir—and no instructions on its use. Enter Evil-Lyn, Skeletor’s ruthless second-in-command, who intercepts Teela with a dangerous proposal: an alliance. In exchange for the vial’s secrets, Teela and the Heroic Warriors must someday help the sorceress overthrow Skeletor himself.
A MAGIC THAT COULD SAVE—OR DESTROY—THEM ALL
The vial heals the sick and brings food back to empty tables—until the forest around the camp begins to change. Rivers vanish. Trees peel to bone. Creatures flee. As the land around them withers at an ever-increasing pace, Teela must confront an impossible question: Has the very magic she used to save her people doomed Eternia instead?

I love Masters of the Universe and this book certainly fits nicely into the mythos of Eternia. The book takes place after Skeletor's victory and before the return of Adam in the new 2026 live action movie. Duncan, Teela, and crew struggle to survive in a world where the forces of evil reign triumphant. Duncan struggles to come to terms with what it means to be a Man at Arms who has failed, Teela struggles to figure out a way to keep the group together and to lift the spirits of her father.
During the course of the story it is up to teenage Teela to face a legendary dragon and visit a mythical valley to save her friends and return balance to her world. Her journeys put her in the cross-hairs of none other than the manipulative Evil Lynn herself.

Entertaining story set prior to the 2026 movie. If you like Masters of the Universe you should like this

WHAT A BOOK! 🗡️💙
I have always loved movie tie-in novels and as soon as I found out there would be a MOTU one, I leapt to have it. Masters of the Universe 2026 is one of my all-time favourite films now and this did not disappoint!
This book bridges the gap a bit between the attack from Skeletor and vanishing of Prince Adam and then Teela bringing Adam back from Earth to fight for Eternia. Teela is a teenager, the warriors of Eternia have been on the run for a few years now, relocating from place to place and trying to carry out rescue missions for King Randor and Queen Marlena.
However, when all seems to be going wrong, Teela forms an unlikely alliance with someone evil… all for a good cause, or so she thinks… 😨
This feels like an extension to the movie! Adam is my favourite character and though he’s not physically present in this, he is mentioned in it a lot in small throwbacks from Teela or Duncan. I would give anything for a tie-in book from Adam’s POV (on Earth perhaps!) and he was just the sweetest kid.
It does begin with a more somber tone but then shifts into a true adventure tale. Teela is a great main character for this. As a reader, you begin to see the slight cracks between her and Duncan as he relies more on sitting back and having a drink than being the Man-At-Arms™️ , which leads perfectly into the movie.
Evil-Lyn is written perfectly! She feels so much like her onscreen self. I was surprised we didn’t get to meet Skeletor in this book but maybe it’s for a good reason.
I couldn’t put this book down, I am so desperate for more MOTU2026 crumbs!!
Rating ⭐️: 5/5, loved it.

More Eternia!
Seriously if you are like me and just basking in the gratefulness of Masters of the Universe being so boldly back on the big screen, such as it is, and in need of MORE than this is your title.
Pros: Teela's character!
Awesome throwbacks to the series
Evil-lyn wickedness is like something out of a fairy tale
Careful ties to the film
A bleak backdrop of Eternia and it's finest but with incredible uplifting conclusion
Compelling story that made you truly understand Teela when she says she thought of Adam the entire time he was missing
Cons
Eternia is less magical than I thought it would be
Sometimes the story seemed a little too downtrodden on the heroes of Eternia but I think that's to help you understand the severity of their loss of their King and Queen.
Anyway I enjoyed this book. This is something I wish they would continue since any of those 80/early 90's babies would probably prefer as they anxiously wait for a potential sequel.
Good Journey my friends

Bridging the narrative between the 2026 film’s prologue and act one, Teela is a gross mass market tie-in. Gross insofar as it commits the worst sin of supplemental MOTU fiction - it’s boring.
Teela is teed up for character growth, and she does, but it’s minimal and at the expense of repetitive inner monologuing.
If revisiting the same emotions every five pages while the guards’ act illogically sounds like a good time, have at it. I am left thinking I was punked by Skeletor into reading YA trash.

The writing drug on through the middle of the book and then the ending felt rushed. I'm hoping there will be further book(s) to dive more into Evil-Lyn's mind because her mindset doesn't seem consistent across this book and the movie

This is a fun YA novel for MOTU fans. It's nice to spend more time with Teela, and having Evil-Lyn and Teela interact is always a good time.
