The Black Man's Guide Out of Poverty: For Black Men Who Demand Better

Rate this book
Black men suffer more than any other racial or sexual group in America. They have the lowest standards of living, shortest life expectancies, highest incarceration rates and suffer other sociological and economic ailments. However, for the past 50 years virtually NO PROGRESS has been made in improving the lives of black men. We have to admit what we've been trying has failed and black men have paid the price. And it's time for that to change. Life is too short and too precious to live it under poverty, making only 67% of what white males do. Fathers and husbands are too important to be replaced by a government check, ruining families in the process. And futures too vital not to be lived to their full potential. If you're a black man and have had enough and want more out of life then "The Black Man's Guide Out of Poverty" is for you. Not just a book on "personal financial management," "The Black Man's Guide Out of Poverty" is specifically tailored towards the plight of black men. It addresses the sociological, economic, and political forces that hold them down. It shows you the path out of poverty. It lays out the road map towards a better life. And makes sure your one and finite life is a happy, well-lived one. Demand a better life than what politicians and society PERMIT you to have. Buy "The Black Man's Guide Out of Poverty" and truly set yourself free.

This is a tough book to review. First as a black man, there are truly a lot of very valuable information in it. However, I truly wouldn’t recommend it as the foremost way for getting out of poverty- it is just brash at relaying that message- too much hate of women and government doesn’t seem to be the way to create high quality contributing members of society. I understand the bill of Aaron’s points but for a good amount of the book he is borderline hateful. Not in a racist or harmful manner but in a manner that is shortsighted.
This is a similar problem to politic discourse today, instead of acknowledging something is broken and having critically thought conversations on how to fix, he dwells heavily on the negative.
Books are supposed to expand the mind and encourage independent thinking, this book although poignant in the important points it makes about having a successful life, scares in the kind of person it creates if this is the only almanac you have.

Great Read, and get's straight to the point.

Just as the title says, this book by Clarey provides a simple guide for black men (or any man) to escape poverty by avoiding the common pitfalls that are keeping us stuck.

Clarey then goes on to teach us mindset shifts, and actionable strategies to move our lives into a more stable direction, along with a game plain to move further up socioeconomically.

The usual racist spin given to meaningless statistics. Something about wedlock and children that are not locked like that. Than there is the bad government. Who takes the male's "birthright" to put the woman in her rightful place, somewhere near the stove. Racism and misogyny I started to think this is some sort of irony. Sadly it is not.

Aaron hit the nail on the head with this book and I recommend anyone who is a black male and in their 20s to read this book. This coming from a 45 year old man of color!

Mixed bag but good overall

This is a good introductory lesson for young ( and frankly not so young) black men looking for solutions to a life that works.

It's not perfect, and Clarey could have used a good editor, but it does what the title says it does: give black men a realistic plan that will lead them out of poverty.

A mindset of victimhood, self-pity, and mediocrity can hinder personal growth far more than historical injustices, political dynamics, or economic conditions. While many factors lie beyond our control, we must take full ownership of what we can—our mindset, how we use our time, and where we direct our energy.

It's essentially Bachelor Pad Economics with an honestly captivating objective take on why the principles are EVEN more important for young black man because they suffer from more hopelessness than other groups.
