After seven years, Chester Bailey has called it quits. His divorce has finalized and he’s packed up his life with plans to move to Cade Creek. But fate has a sense of humor, which Chester discovers when he’s involved in a car accident just as he reaches the small country town. Rescue comes in the form of the sexiest fire chief Chester has ever seen…and maybe a new love interest.
Fire Chief Jack Helmond is used to being called to the scene of accidents. It’s part of the job. When he discovers a frightened young man pinned in his car, the job takes on new meaning. Rescuing Chester becomes personal.
But Chester’s past refuses to give up so easily. His ex won’t let a little thing like a new lover or even divorce papers stop him from claiming what he believes is his. If Jack has any hope of keeping the flames of romance burning between him and Chester, he’ll need more than fellow fire fighters to help him. He might need all of Cade Creek.
About Me I believes the only thing sexier than a man in cowboy boots is two, or three men in cowboy boots. I also believes in love at first sight, soul mates, true love, and happy endings.
I live in the great Northwest region of the USA, with my gorgeous husband and soul mate, two boxer/collie puppies, one old biddy cats, and three fish. When I'm not being a mother to my six teenagers or cleaning up after my two 70 pound lap puppies, you can usually find me cuddled in bed with a book in my hand and a puppy in my lap. Or on my laptop, creating the next sexy man for one of my stories.

Okay, so I continue to gorge myself on these books until I'm constipated from all the cheese. But at least I've been enjoying them. However, I did not like this one very much.
What I like about these books is the instant connection the characters have and they're together fairly quickly. This one was different. I really just did not like Jack. He didn't try to pursue Chester initially. He thought he was married but never tried to talk to anyone to figure out the truth. As soon as he found out it wasn't true he jumped on him only to have an "it's too soon" attitude. It wasn't too soon for me dammit! That's why I read these motherfluffin' books!
Then, when Chester pushes Jack away, Jack acts like an ass and pitches a little bitch fit and stomps his foot. 8 days later after no word at all comes the grand gesture. Too little too late IMO.
So most of the book killed my whole happy cheesy vibe I've had going on for days. Makes me mad...apparently the flame is not eternal...
In this third book of the ‘Cade Creek’ series, Fire Chief Jack Helmond falls for Chester, a man he rescues from a car wreck that is about as bad as they get. A misunderstanding has Jack withdraw, much to Chester’s disappointment, and it takes quite a bit of back and forth before these two men actually communicate and manage to understand each other. Their romance is very sweet, but external forces, like Chester’s ex and fear of commitment, keep pulling them apart. Lucky for them they live in Cade Creek where pretty much anything is possible.
Chester is on the run from his abusive ex-husband and has decided to settle in Cade Creek since he has a friend there. Just when Chester reaches Cade Creek’s city limits, a drunk truck driver barrels into his car, crumpling it badly enough for Chester to be pinned inside with no chance of escape. He cannot believe his luck when the sexiest fireman in history comes to his rescue, but he begins to reconsider when Jack keeps going hot and cold over the next few weeks. To top it all off, his crazy BDSM-obsessed ex-husband follows him and wants him back. And with Jack enthusiastic one day, and pulling back the next, Chester is no longer sure of anything.
Jack has never fallen for one of the people he rescues on the job, but what he feels for Chester is too strong to ignore. Until Jack finds a man calling himself Chester’s husband at the hospital, which makes him withdraw. It takes a while for him to figure out that the husband really is an EX, but his careful attempts at dating lead to more misunderstandings, and everything looks bleak again. Then it all comes to a head, and Jack has to make up his mind once and for all: does he or does he not want to make a life with Chester?
If you like sweet romances hindered by a ton of misunderstandings, if characters on the run being recued by strong, handsome men are your thing, and if you’re looking for a read that is as sweet and hot as it is frustrating until the characters learn to talk to each other, then you will probably like this novella.

Although Happy holds such a big place in my heart, I’ve adored each of these couple’s and their stories. In this one, we have Chester, who is either cousin’s or besties with Yancy, I don’t remember… and he’s moving to Cade Creek to get away from the man he thought he’d be with forever. His now ex-husband started dabbling in BDSM and took it entirely too far, demanding more than Chester was comfortable with, so he was headed to Cade Creek to start a new life. All he wanted was somebody to love him and not want to hurt and humiliate him. Unfortunately, just as he gets into town, a drunk driver blows through a stoplight and Chester ends up pinned in the car with blinding pain in his legs. Fortunately, that’s where he meets Jack.
Jack is the fire chief at the local firestation, but to his dismay, he’s not got the equipment to help Chester out of his tight spot… but he can sit with him and comfort him while waiting on the ambulance while assessing his situation. It’s tough, especially for anyone who’s been in a car accident before, it’s scary and loud and painful, and it had my heart pounding in anticipation the entire time. Very well written and explained… I kind of fell in love with Jack right then…. As did Chester, it would seem.
After getting out of a situation where he was forced to be who someone else wanted, it was high time he started doing what he wanted for himself… and that was Jack.
Unfortunately, some wires get crossed and Jack thinks Chester is still married, so it’s not all smooth sailing at first, especially when Chester’s ex-husband runs in, trying, using any means necessary to bring him baack to task and make him be apart of a Total Power Exchange relationship, to be his slave. He does not give up, no matter how many times Chester says no and asks him to leave.
Meanwhile, while the ex-husband is popping up, unwanted here and there, Jack and Chester are falling in love and bein all cute with a dog and all that…. It’s just super cute and I loved it… It’s an excellent addition to a series that I quickly became obsessed with! I cannot wait to jump into the next one!
Kenna's Thoughts Stormy Glenn's books always make me feel happy. Her characters are always well developed, and most of them make me fall in love at first scene. Notice that I said "most". That's because she also writes some particularly nasty bad guys, and those bad guys always make me love the heroes even more.
In "Fireman's Flame", Chester is on his way to Cade Creek to start a new life. He's just divorced his husband (because he's one of those nasty bad guys), and everything that he has is in the trailer behind his car. That's not a good thing because he winds up getting hit by a drunk driver just as he was driving down the main drag of town. His legs are pinned, and he's stuck in his car, and that's how he meets Jack, the town's fire chief. There is an instant chemistry as Jack tries to keep Chester calm while they cut him out.
THe story takes off from there, and it's a doozie! There is romance, excitement, misunderstandings, and moments of abject terror. Chester and Jack have to endure a LOT on their way to happiness. There is one more thing that I think I should talk about. The SEX! Chester and Jack are amazing together! From their first kiss...their first touch...they just radiated heat. As hot as it was, there was a sweet tenderness to it. For me, it just enhanced their love story.
"Fireman's Flame" is the third book in the "Cade Creek" series. It can be read as a standalone, but I have to tell you, I recommend the first two installments, "Happy's Ever After" and "Farmer In the Dell", as well. I'll also be excited to read any future additions to the series.
Stormy Glenn returns to Cade Creek with another winner in sexy fire chief, Jack Helmond. Jack finds himself at the scene of an accident where he meets Chester, and not in a manner he would prefer. Chester’s little Volkswagen is crumpled beyond recognition. In fact, Jack is surprised not only that Chester’s injuries are relatively minor, but also by his reaction to Cade Creeks new resident. But Jack is no home wrecker so when he learns that Chester is married he reluctantly puts Chester out of his mind. Chester can’t figure out what happened. Jack was so supportive and flirty while the jaws of life were being used but now the heat has definitely gone cold. What has he done? I really liked Chester. He wanted nothing more than to be loved. He wanted someone who needed no additional bells and whistles, someone who thought cuddling and simple vanilla sex were enough. He thought there was the possibility with Jack until there wasn’t. Simple miscommunication derailed a budding relationship but could either man move past hurt feelings to move things in the right direction? Ms. Glenn gave the men a pickle and she did a great job of leading them through their personal minefield. I could totally understand why Jack wanted to slow things down. I could also see why Chester wanted to grab the brass ring with both hands. Ms. Glenn reconciled Jack and Chester’s differing personalities and needs in such a way that felt natural. The chemistry and emotions were real and well worth feeling the heat in the Fireman’s Flame.
These are getting a little too rushed for me. Attraction yes but almost love at first site in a non mate book.. speaking of.. this is the SECOND book that the word mate pops up.. it's NOT a mate book, no paranormal activity here people.
I have to say that this is not up to Blaecleah standards. Ok so yes it's not about them, although we are seeing a few of them on the regular right now, but it IS a spin off. So should be up to par and since I realllly enjoyed those ones this is a bit disappointing at the moment.
I just don't want to rush rush rush.. want to savor a bit of build up and feel the connection...
This is one of what I call “a perfect morning commute read”. Not too long, nicely written, fast paced and engaging enough to keep me sucked in even when I’m sleepy and bleary-eyed. I really liked the characters in this one, both the hunky firefighter and the 100% vanilla chef, and even if the use of a Big Misunderstanding was a bit heavy handed, my brain was perfectly fine with it on an 8 A train.
I thoroughly enjoyed Fireman’s Flame by Stormy Glenn —a lovely addition to the Cade Creek series. Fire Chief Jack helps rescue Chester Bailey, a man wanting to start a new life after a recent divorce. Unfortunately for Chester, how he met Jack was not a traditional ‘meet and greet’ but at the end of an accident which left him pinned in his car.Read More...
I really loved it it was so great a can't wait to read the next one it is turning out to be a great series and like I said I can't wait to read more....
It is always good to visit Cade Creek. Jack and Carter are charismatic. Charters ex a bit of a psychopath. Storms Glenn writes a great bad guy. Already pre ordered the next.
Jack sets Chester aflame with passion ! Cade Creek #3
Chester, is divorced, loves to cook, and is starting his new life in Cade Creek, plus his friend is Yancy. His Ex is Oscar, who treated Chester very badly. Chester Jack, the Fire Chief with dark, wavy hair, is there to take care of the scene of the car accident and to get Chester extricated from the car.
We begin with a truck running a red light, crashing into Chester, where he's trapped and injured. God bless the "jaws of life" and the rescue.
Fire Chief Jack and Chester hit it off and then Chester needs to heal. When Oscar, the ex, shows up all "lovey dovey," he tries to force his BDSM on Chester, which causes confusion to the doctors and Jack. How can Oscar have a power of attorney?
Chester tried to tell some folks the issues they had, but Jack was angry to have been flirted with, if Chester was still married. Chester had to tell his shameful tale.
After the truth, Jack and Chester had super sexy times, and Chester has what h's always wanted. Chester is making his home now, and getting his place renovated the way he wants it.
Later, things are good for Chester and Jack, but when the ex attacks, and the firehouse dog, Arson, a Dalmatian, bites Oscar. The guys aren't communicating and confusion is there again. Jack is determined to fix this and gets help. The balcony scene is awesome !
Chester is kidnapped, and the big turnout show Oscar his justice. What they find at Oscar's house is horrible. We get terrific characters, exciting tales, and heartwarming conclusions in this series. These are novellas that are simply, fun !
Chester and Jack as a result of auto accident. Chester being the one stuck in his car after the crash and Jack as the fire chief to get to get Chester out of it. Chester is escaping fro an abusive exp husband but Jack is not aware if it. Things get mixed up but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
I don't like. It as someone else said in a review, Jack wasn't trying to do anything for Chester. What I like about these books is the instant romance, they didn't give it to me here. Either you give me a well-constructed normal romance, or you give me an instalov. Make up your mind.
This is book #3 and the least favorite for me in the series so far. Not because it was bad or poorly written, but because there was a slight corniness to it. I get that Jack wanted to be romantic but the serenade, however sweet, was a bit over the top. But that’s okay.
The series comes along nicely though. Ms. Glenn does a great job of maintaining her characters. The only thing I would kind of like to see is the slowing down of the insta-love, which as I stated in the review of the previous book in the series, is and will probably be, a recurring theme throughout the series. But now that I think about it again, with the books being as short as they are, it makes sense to have the storyline move as quickly as it does.
Chester is a man who is looking for a fresh start in Cade Creek after his divorce became final. His ex husband had a warped sense and desire of what BSDM is and wanted to have that type of marriage with Chester. It just wasn’t something Chester was into or interested in getting into. Chester’s ex wouldn’t leave him be, even after the divorce.
Chester meets Jack, the local fire chief while being pinned in his car after being hit by a drunk driver. Of course, the attraction is immediate between Chester and Jack but Chester has baggage from his marriage and he tends to run; he doesn’t like confrontation.
What I particularly liked about this book was Chester’s best friend Yancy’s (Cowboy Convienience) love of food and Chester’s love of cooking. Chester is the best cook, which works because Yancy is the world’s best eater. I also love how the town comes together to help and look out for their own.
This series has a wonderful cast of characters. Glenn does a lovely job of incorporating the new characters with the old ones from the Blaecleah Brothers series. This creates a wonderful cast of characters that makes this series enjoyable to read. The books are short but that’s okay as you’re able to jump right into the next story right away and not be rung out from reading the previous book. The transition from one book to the next is seamless and the editing issues are minimal.
This is a nice little series to get in to.
This book in the series has mild violence and may deal with issues such as domestic/family violence, physical and or mental abuse so if those are your triggers, I would recommend you skip those parts.
This book is part of a series and as such should be read in sequential order. It is recommended that your read the Blaecleah Brothers Cowboy series as their characters cross over into this series.

** Some spoilers, if you don't already expect these story elements by now. **
For a long while this was actually a pretty decent read – especially compared to the rest of this series and its ancestor. But as soon as the big conflict leading up to the end occurred things went entirely Bleacleah. By which I mean the quarrel was utterly forced and it made no sense whatsoever that Jack . I am still shaking my head over the logic behind that, but it’s precisely how the parent series operated.
Some other stuff was less than ideal as well.
Seeing how Chester just escaped a traumatizing relationship with a man who tried to turn him into a slave, I do find it odd that he doesn’t run the moment Jack gets possessive (“You belong to me!”) with him. The way Chester happily lets himself be manhandled into sex immediately after clearing up the forced misunderstanding that made up most of their interactions thus far suggests that he may be slow in learning from past mistakes. I dunno. I mean I have read a lot worse but I just would expect people to actually behave and react according to their experiences. Or… Wait, why would I expect that? I should know better by now. @.@
Anyway, this story? When it’s not about sex, it’s housing porn. I suppose Chester is a wealthy man to be able to afford all this, not to mention the added heating that comes with all those huge windows. I also wonder who will keep the place clean in the long run, but he probably can afford the help. Kind of makes his dramatic statement from the beginning about how everything he owns is in his car and he might be forced to couch-surf lose steam in retrospect.
This book is part of a series and should be read in order. Also this is a spin-off of the Blaecleah Brothers series and takes place in the same town with characters from that series showing up.
Chester has come to Cade Creek after divorcing his husband six months ago. He has come for a new start which does not really go the way he was planning when he is t-boned by a drunk driver. As he is stuck in his car he meets Jack, who is the fire chief. The two start to bond as Jack keeps Chester claim as he is cut from his totaled car. They even plan a date. But that all changes when a misunderstanding leads Chester’s ex-husband showing up at the hospital.
I liked Jack. He was a decent stand up kind of guy. When he thought he might be poaching he backs away. But when he learns the way is clear he is all set to have a relationship with Chester to see where it will go. My issue with the book was Chester. He blows hot and cold for me. He pushed too fast and shuts down on Jack when things don’t go the way he thinks they should instead of talking things out. While Jack wants to take things slower and get to know each more, Chester is already to have them living together.
Maybe it is just my personal opinion, but Chester was definitely rushing things and didn't give Jack the respect he deserved. So yeah, Chester kind of was a downer for me for a good part of the book. But when things were working the two men were cute, sexy, sensual, and perfect for each other.
So not a perfect read for me, but still enjoyable.
"No one should be forced to participate in stuff they wanted no part of. That was when it became abuse,"
There was a sad premise to this story but overall the emotional Chester (super sensitive, a bit weak, always in tears) and the sexy Alpha Fireman (manly man) Jack leave you feeling love with that happily ever after feeling by the end of the story.
"No one should be forced to participate in stuff they wanted no part of. That was when it became abuse," Seriously, this should be taught to everyone before adulthood!
Chester divorced his husband of six years (if I remember correctly) after Oscar's preferences towards BDSM lifestyle reached levels unacceptable for him. That's when Chester decided to transfer to Cade Creek and start his new life there. If he can figure out what it is he'd like to do.
Chester was either panicking or crying for the most part of the book. Sometimes he was sulking, to make things different. Jack, manly man and firefighter, was much better character but his tendency to assume things instead of asking was pretty annoying. They both could use some communication skills.
Chester is fleeing to Cade Creek to leave behind an abusive ex-husband when he is t-boned by a drunk driver. He needs to be cut out of his car by the fire department and is calmed by Jack the fire chief. Unfortunately the ex is called when Chester ends in the hospital and then the ex wants Chester back and is cruelly persistent which endangers Chester and interferes in a growing relationship with our fire chief. We have misunderstandings, danger, a great dog and lots of steamy love on the way to our HEA. A very enjoyable book.
Chester and Jack were absolutely perfect for one another. Jack saving Chester was so heroic and yet so romantic, but not nearly as the Fireman's Flame, wow that was sexy and even cheesy, but perfect for the do over. Oscar is just a creep man and I'm glad he got what was coming to him. I enjoyed the back and forth of Jack and Chester as they got things worked out between them, I liked that it wasn't a perfect relationship right off the start.
Not my favorite so far. That’s NOT to say that I didn’t enjoy it because I definitely did. Jack is awesome and I really liked him. Something about Chester kind of bothered me and I’m not 100% sure what it was. I think it was the way he just shut down on a discussion leaving Jack frustrated and trying to figure out what he did wrong, when IMHO, Jack did nothing wrong. I think Chester just frustrated me.
Loved Arson the fire station dog. He pretty much kicked ass!
Ummm...why did Jack run away? I didn't understand. Then he gets pissed when Chester says he needs time? Then he runs away again only Chester and Jack spent more time apart than together :(
