I received an ARC of Unfinished Business (book 2) and am leaving my honest, voluntary review.
****Perfect stand alone****

Overall rating: 3.5 ⭐

A fantastic palate cleanser! It’s quick, fun, and easy to devour. If you’re looking for something to keep you reading that isn’t heavy with multiple plot twists, this is the perfect book for you. It was exactly what I needed after finishing a heavy thriller, about a potential murderous bookclub member.

It was refreshing and feel-good—the perfect "pick up & go" book. The storyline and characters are easy to keep track of, making it a great "in-between" read if you usually have multiple books on the go at once.

We all know the "friend zone" is the worst place to be when you want more from a relationship—especially when that relationship is with your Boss or your assistant. Margot and Ethan will tell you all about it in Unfinished Business. (Blue aliens and loincloths included!)

This book was super cute. I mean it was all the things I love in a cute little rom com novel. This is a workplace romance & also a friends to lovers. Ethan is Denver’s most eligible bachelor and a big wig at his company, Margot is his assistant and friend. It goes from there being everything you expect. The book was funny and honestly had me laughing out loud more than once. Unfinished Business is the 2nd in the True North series but can be read as a stand alone. Thank you @zoeyfordauthor for this gifted copy to read. I loved it 💜

I received an ARC of this book and am leaving my honest, voluntary review.

I really wanted to like this one more than I did, but it just missed the mark for me. There just wasn’t any sizzle between Ethan & Margot for me. Maybe because I’m used to enemies to lovers vs friends to lovers?

Lastly, I’m sorry, but Emma is not a good friend. She was lovely in the first book but she did not come off the same way in this book!

Bummed to not enjoy this one as much as the first one!

ARC READ

Unfinished Business by Zoey Ford is one of those books that sneaks up on you, in the best way. I went in expecting a light, funny read, and while is absolutely delivered on humor, it also had way more depth and emotional pull than I anticipated. Solid 5 stars from me.

First off, the banter? Top tier. The dialogue felt natural and genuinely funny, not forced or over-the-top. There were multiple moments where I actually laughed out loud (the whole "explaining alien smut to the boss" situation lives rent free in my head now). The humor balances perfectly with the slower, more emotional moments, which kept the pacing really engaging.

Speaking of pacing, this is definitely a slow-ish burn but not the frustrating kind. It builds in a way that really lets you see the connection between the characters develop. You feel why they work, instead of just being told they do. I also liked that instead of dragging out a bid secret revel for shock value, the tension comes from waiting for him to finally tell her. It felt more character-driven that way, which I appreciated.

There are also those oddly specific moments that just stick with you, the cheese incident, for example, was such a small thing but added so much personality and fun. And I NEED to know more about the beef with that office plant.. like what was that about? It's one of those tiny details that makes the world feel bigger, even if it leaves you a little curious.

"My primal urge to protect you is currently at odds with my primal urge not to black out while being yeeted through the sky on a glorified death sled." - That pretty much sums up the tone.. chaotic, funny and weirdly heartfelt. I also really respected that the ending didn't go the easy route. It didn't just wrap everything up with an instant happy ever after which made it feel more grounded and earned. The characters had to sit with things, and that added weight to the resolution.

This book is number two of the "True North" series, however, it can be a standalone. I haven't read the first one and I still enjoyed the book. You won't feel lost jumping in there.

Overall, this book was such a fun ride. It had me giggling one minutes, genuinely feeling for the characters the next and fully hooked the entire time. If you like slow-burn romance with sharp humor and real emotional beats, this one is definitely worth picking up.

Margot and Ethan are colleagues and good friends within the confines of the office - he’s the CEO of True North, a successful outdoor recreation company, and she’s his assistant - but they couldn’t be more different when it comes to relationships.

Margot has been with the same guy since college whilst Ethan is Denver’s Most Eligible Bachelor and his flings never last more than one night. When Margot breaks up with her boyfriend she ends up turning to Ethan for support, and what was an easy professional relationship quickly develops into a close friendship outside of work.

Ethan begins to give Margot dating advice to help her get her confidence back, but they can’t deny their mutual attraction and begin to fall for each other instead. Margot is sure that Ethan can only offer her one night, whilst Ethan has some demons in his past to sort out before he can make a commitment. Will their connection be enough to overcome their differences or are they heading for heartbreak?

I really enjoyed this book and loved both of the main characters - it’s dual perspective so we see things from both sides. The story was well-paced and the relationship was realistic, heartfelt and romantic. Whilst there was plenty of spice, the real heart of the story was Margot and Ethan’s friendship which is what truly made it shine.

I also loved that Margot is a bookworm and there were so many moments that will resonate with book lovers, including a scene near the start where she tries (and fails) to hide her reading material from Ethan that made me laugh out loud.

This is the second in Zoey Ford’s ‘True North’ series - I hadn’t read the first one (‘Uncharted Territory’) but I’ve now got it on my TBR and can’t wait to see what she writes next!

Please share so this book reaches all the romance readers who will love it 💕

Dual perspective
Office romance
Friends to lovers
Boss x assistant
Fake dating
Bookworm x playboy

Thank you to the author for the ARC

Thoroughly enjoyed Ethan and Margot’s story. I’m actually kind of sad I didn’t read book 1 first butttt thankfully the plot is completely independent of it and it didn’t affect the reading experience at all. I just know that when I go back I’ll be reading about Garrett and Emma who have found their HEA (I love knowing this ahead of time anyway, my heart needs a happy ending).
I loved their friendship. I loved the banter. I loved Margot’s sarcastic nature (a girl after my own heart). I loved how it ended.

The writing reminded me a lot of Lynn Painter, one of my absolute favorite authors and part of my rom-com Mount Rushmore, so that’s pretty high praise. Looking forward to whatever Zoey writes next because I’m officially a fan.

Thoughts while reading:
Loved Margot from the beginning. There’s definitely spunk in her.
My initial thoughts on Ethan were “rich little f*ckboy who gets everything he wants,*eyeroll*” but I was actually really glad and sad to have been wrong.

Normally I consider anything lost in a breakup “the price of freedom”, but I’d really like to punch Jeremy because what the actual frick.

I knew the Rachel thing was going to be a problem but was not expecting it to be THE problem or go down the way it did. Was actually really sad about it and the way things happened. Ethan’s an idiot for waiting so long but I’m still allowed to be sad for him.

The HEA took longer than I would have liked but that’s just because I’m a sappy idiot and cannot imagine that much time apart. I wanted to die over it and I’m not even a character in this fictional relationship and story.

I received this ARC from the author, but all opinions are completely my own.

I went into this book hoping it would live up to the first, but also a little nervous it might fall short — especially since I had been wanting a second book since finishing the first last summer. I can honestly say it exceeded my expectations.

As much of a rating snob as I can be, this was a solid 5-star read for me — and possibly one of my favorite contemporary romances I’ve read this year. I don’t give out 5 stars to contemporary romances often (I tend to reserve those for fantasy or romantasy where I get more deeply invested), but I was completely invested in this one.

The humor in this book was incredible. The banter, the inside jokes — and THE CHEESE. I laughed so many times, and the reveal had me cracking up even more. It was one of those moments that just sticks with you.

Beyond the humor, the pacing was spot on. It had a great balance, with a satisfying slow burn and a strong, engaging plot. I was hooked the entire time and never felt my attention slipping.

The opening with the office plant had me laughing out loud, and moments like that really set the tone for the rest of the book. But it wasn’t just funny — the friendships and emotional depth added so much heart to the story as well.

I genuinely enjoyed the entire reading experience so much that I didn’t find myself focusing on any negatives — I was just fully immersed in the story.

Two books in, and I can confidently say I’ll be picking up anything Zoey Ford releases next

this was an arc read, and overall i thought Unfinished Business by Zoey Ford was a really cute, easy romance with a lot of moments i enjoyed.

the story follows margot and ethan, who start off with a boss/assistant dynamic but slowly turn into something more. i really liked how their relationship developed over time, especially because it didn’t feel rushed. it definitely leans more slow burn, and you can feel that build up between them.

their banter was probably my favorite part. it felt natural the whole way through, and i liked that even as things started to change between them, they still kept that same dynamic. also the whole him helping her with dating while clearly catching feelings himself… yeah i ate that up.

i also liked margot as a character. she’s coming out of a difficult relationship and trying to figure herself out, and i appreciated that her growth was a big part of the story. it made everything feel a little more real and not just focused on the romance.

for me personally, it was a bit slower than i expected. i liked it, but i wasn’t fully hooked the entire time. there were a lot of cute moments, i just didn’t get that “can’t put it down” feeling consistently.

overall, i still enjoyed it. it’s a light, feel-good workplace romance with good tension, a slow burn buildup, and characters that are easy to like.

if you like slow burn, workplace dynamics, and a mix of friendship and romance, i think you’ll enjoy this one.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟

When Margot’s relationship ends abruptly, she turns to Denver’s most eligible bachelor, Ethan North… Margot’s boss.
Ethan’s track record is full of one night stands, whereas Margot would rather be curled up with her… diverse choice in books.

Margot asks Ethan for help navigating the world of online dating, which turns into practice dates, intimate touches and ultimately, stronger feelings.

Can professional boundaries stay put, or are blurred lines part of the job description?

This feel good office romance is such a sweet read, there is so much of Margot and Ethan’s story packed into it that entices you to keep reading. Margot was such an amazing FMC, she felt real and genuine. She was strong and independent, but also wasn’t shy to say that she wasn’t okay at times. Ethan is (99.9%) a green flag with a dirty mouth! He cares for the people around him, going out of his way to look after them, and remembers the little things.

I’m looking forward to reading more of Zoey Ford’s books!

Unfinished Business
Zoey Ford

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

I always love a boss x assistant trope in a story. All of the awkwardness of realizing that something is blooming and the potential disaster that relationship brings with it.

I loved Ethan and Margot. Their story had me laughing throughout the whole book. I loved how their friendship grew unexpectedly and slowly.

Ethan’s offer for dating lessons is priceless and the situations they find themselves in are some of the best parts of their story.

Margot is loveable and has unique reading genres, which is hilarious when Ethan discovers her secrets. Ethan has secrets of his own that he keeps hidden well. As feelings change, will he open his heart to share his past, or will those buried secrets shatter their hearts?

I love how Margot never loses sight of herself and the choices she makes to protect her heart.

This story is so fun and I enjoyed reading it in one day. I just could not put it down. I would love to share all my favorite scenes, but then I'd give the entire story away. I'm sure you will love Ethan and Margot and their unfinished business.

Thank you, Zoey Ford, for the ARC of Unfinished Business. All opinions are my own. Excellent story and I can't wait for the next book.

[ 🦢 My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 Stars! ]

Reasoning:
OHHHH MY GOD?! THIS IS SUCH A CUTE BOOK 😭 I read it all in an hour and a half! It was a quick but fun read.

Ethan and Margot’s story is AMAZING. I absolutely adored their relationship and reading their banter had me giggling and kicking my feet.

I love Margot’s character so much and I fear she’s just like me fr. I kept giggling like an idiot at my ipad while reading. Ethan is easily book boyfriend materiel. I fell in love with his character as soon as I started reading!

The plot was SO GOOD. I loved reading about both characters, I was even like “Oh? 👀” at some parts! Easily one of my top fav reads of 2026!

In all honesty, I was anticipating reading this book! From all the blurbs I saw online, I was SOOOO excited for it! (And even more excited when I found out I got an arc!) I love myself a good office romance and this book tickled the spot!

I for sure will be rereading this book multiple times, and I hope many readers do too!

This book was really good!! I’m so honored that I got to read it as an ARC. I don’t really know what I was expecting when I first started reading this book (I guess I wasn’t expecting anything and just going in with an open mind) but I was pleasantly surprised by what I got and quickly fell in love with the characters of Ethan and Margot. I also really loved the cover art, which is what drew me in to check it out in the first place.

I felt like even in the beginning, I could feel the chemistry between Margot and Ethan from the get-go. Even though they were supposed to be boss and assistant, I felt like they really connected well even before they started talking about the topic of dating lessons. I loved how Ethan always went out of his way to help Margot and she essentially did the same thing for him. It didn’t feel like there were any strange power dynamics so that was really great. I also thought they had such funny banter and great chemistry when it came to the dating lessons. Like the kindle alien scene (iykyk), the first drinking scene, making the dating app profile, etc. I think those factors made it a lot easier to believe when their feelings started coming to the surface.

The only reason I didn’t give this book a five star rating was because of the conflict at the end. It wasn’t bad by any means but I just disagreed with the way that Margot handled it so for me that was kind of more of a personal issue. But I still loved this book and would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves a workplace friends to lovers romance!

(P.S. I will definitely be getting a physical copy of the book when I’m finally done with my book ban)

I’m going to start this off by asking everyone to add this book to their TBR’s because goodness gracious, Zoey Ford knows how to write a book🔥 this entire story made me feel all the emotions. AND I LOVED EVERY SINGLE MOMENT OF IT.

Friends to lovers, assistant x boss, fake dating, office romance, inside jokes, a broken engagement, and hidden secrets (iykyk 😅) this story delivered on every level. The chemistry was electric, the banter was effortless, and the emotional depth made it impossible to put down. I was seriously up until 2 in the morning because I just couldn’t stop!

Watching Ethan and Margot’s relationship unfold was equal parts heartwarming, frustrating, and utterly addictive. Just when I thought I knew where things were headed, another layer unraveled, pulling me even deeper into their world. The tension, the vulnerability, and the way their connection grew felt so authentic. 10/10.

I just know all my friends are going to get annoyed with me, simply because I’m not going to shut up about this book 🤪

If you love romance filled with wit, heart, and all the delicious tension that comes with two people fighting what’s been right in front of them all along, this is absolutely one you need to pick up.

Unfinished Business by Zoey Ford is the first book of Zoey's that I have read. I didn't realize at the time that I signed up for the ARC that this was the second book in the True North series. Despite there being hints at the previous book, I thought that this book did well on its own.

The relationship between Ethan and Margot starts of as colleagues, then transitions to friends, and then to lovers. I felt that Ethan was the one who fell first in this instance, but he didn't force it on Margot until they were on the same page. I could tell that Ethan's feelings are genuine and that he really did care for Margot.

I did think that the third act breakup was unnecessary, but when you're in a relationship with the CEO, every relationship comes with some form of scrutiny and judgement, so it's understandable in that sense.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and I would recommend it readers who enjoy more lighthearted workplace romance. Tropes include: CEO x assistant, forced proximity, colleagues to friends to lovers, and he falls first. I am curious to see if Silas will get a book since there are three North brothers.

Thank you to the author for the review copy. All opinions are my own.

ARC Review
Unfinished Business by Zoey Ford 5⭐️

Oh. My. Gosh. I genuinely LOVED this book! Ethan and Margot are so perfect together and I loved reading their story. Between her sarcasm, their inside jokes, and the palpable tension, I couldn’t get enough. Zoey Ford filled this slow burn romance with beautiful writing, heartfelt and heartbreaking moments, skyrocketing chemistry between Ethan and Margot, heated passion, and laugh out loud comedy that makes this book a new favorite. I’d highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a slow burn workplace romance involving dating lessons with a hint of possessiveness from Ethan!

I’m not necessarily a fan of third act breakups, but I believe that this one was necessary and was written beautifully. Margot didn’t immediately take Ethan back and made him work to win her back. Third act breakups are often just used as a trope to get people who like them to read the book, but this one felt appropriate and more realistic to what would/should happen in real life. Both characters took the time and space to work on themselves which was so nice to see.

Thank you Zoey Ford for the opportunity to read this book for an honest review! All opinions are my own.

This cutesy romcom was just what I needed! I loved Ethan and Margot together. I did not read book 1, but you do not need to in order to follow Unfinished Business. I love the idea that Margot’s bestie wanted them together in order for them to be sister-in-laws. I always have a special place in my heart for a workplace romance, I think it’s just so sexy. I thought the pace of the book was kind of slow, definitely a slow burn. I did not expect the whole marrying the brother’s girlfriend, that was the whole part of the story I did not enjoy but I get the need for the FMC to have an obstacle to overcome. It sucked how long they were broken up, I am happy Ethan and Margot found their way back to each other. I think Margot needed to figure out her worth before getting back into a relationship and I am glad she did and has the courage to go to therapy. The spice was okay, 3/5. I also love the fact that Ethan was so proud of her as a boss and always wanted to give her opportunities for growth in the company. Zoey Ford has an amazing way of creating this little world and I look forward to what she has coming next!

"Unfinished Business" is the second book I've read by Zoey Ford, and it lives up to the promise of the first. I particularly appreciate the witty dialogue between the characters in her writing. In this book, Margot serves as Ethan's assistant; she is intelligent, humorous, and highly competent in her role. She is also in a relationship with Jeremy, who advocates for an open relationship as a way to escape their routine. Ethan is portrayed as the most desirable bachelor in town, someone who is hesitant to see a woman more than once. He also cherishes his assistant and recognizes that she deserves a better partner than her current boyfriend can provide. They form an excellent professional partnership, and it seems unlikely they could go beyond that because they desire fundamentally different things in life. This is how the story felt to them. The book is even better because it shows how the characters of Garrett and Emma are interwoven. Although they have their own narrative, I enjoy how significant their characters are within the story as well.
If you haven't given Zoey Ford a chance yet, I highly recommend you do so! I look forward to her future books.

4.5 stars. This book was such a perfect contemporary romance with so much heart. It was quick and clever and I couldn't put it down. Our sweet and shy FMC, Margot was so easy to fall in love with as a reader. She was awkward, and adorable and so relatable, I wanted to be her friend from the very beginning. Her penchant for alien smut was one of the most fun little details that I just loved. The easy friendship Margot, and the MMC, Ethan, built in their assistant/boss dynamic was so fun to read. Inside jokes, banter and just their general ease with each other read as a true foundation they could build from. Did they fall into the same traps of miscommunication and withholding information that we often see in romance? Sure, but this plot device wasn't used in an egregious way in my opinion. There were some truely heart twisting scenes that got me all in my feels. The sex scenes made my heart race, even the preludes to those scenes really got me going. This book was so well written and genuinely fun to read! I can't wait to read more from Zoey Ford in the future!

Rvcd an ARC from the author.

I quite enjoyed this book. Made me LOL quite a bit.

We meet Margot, who is at a fancy dinner with her bf Jeremy...so its either proposal or dump. But what she's not prepared for is an open relationship...wth! Hurt, Margot goes to the only place she can think of and thats work. We meet Ethan, CEO, Denver most eligible bachelor and Margots boss. He is shocked to see Margot come into the office dressed sexy. Ethan offers her scotch and Margot opens up about everything what's happened. Margot didn't count on staying at Ethans place all wkend...hes her boss for crying out loud. It's time for Margot to get back on the horse and start to date. Ethan sees Margots disastrous profile and decided to help her. She hasn't dated since college so she's out of practice but Ethan offers her a fake date to get her comfortable. But a scorching kiss in front of her ex was not on Margots bingo card. It's one kiss...whata the worst that can happen? Ethan doesn't do relationships so he can be Margots knight in shining armor.

“Margot, everything is fun when I’m with you.”

I loved seeing their friendship establish before their relationship. Their banter and chemistry were felt from the start. I didn’t need any time to warm up to their dynamic, it was like I was in the room with them. I loved how they had inside jokes and some history. Normally with workplace romances it reads like the manager and personal assistant have never spoken, but here it truly felt like a warm bath.

“The truth is that it’s hard to label what we are because you’re everything to me and there isn’t a single word in the English language that encompasses the way I feel about you, but the one that comes closest is love.”

And the romance was romancing. That chemistry was a nice slow burn, just satisfying enough until the big moment. But also, not to forget, there is depth to the characters and everything felt very human. There was not endless back and forth, just adults who made decisions, made mistakes, and were self reflective. It is nice reading a book about adults being adults in all aspects.

If you’ve been waiting for book two like I have, Unfinished Business absolutely delivers. I went in with high expectations after book one, and Ethan and Margo did not disappoint for a second!!

This one hits such a satisfying mix of tropes—boss/assistant, workplace tension, a little fake dating, a little friends-with-benefits energy with yummy yearning!! The slow build between them is so good. You can feel the push and pull in every interaction, especially as their dynamic shifts from strictly professional to something much more.

Margo is coming out of a rough relationship and trying to figure out who she is and what she actually wants. And Ethan… he’s eligible bachelor and has an interesting story. The way he and Margo try to help each other navigate dating while clearly being the worst at ignoring their own chemistry was honestly so fun! Once they finally give in? Worth the wait. The tension, the buildup, the emotional stakes!!!! I love Margot & Ethan!!

What a sweet read. This is why I love romances and rom-coms. All of the flirty, kicking-your-feet, giggle-and-swoon emotions…. They always lift my spirits and just make me feel all giddy inside. I love Ethan & Margot together. I love Ethan’s realization of his feelings for her and how it progresses despite his best efforts to protect their friendship and their hearts. He was such a sweetheart to her and really cared for her as a friend bottom line, but then the chemistry was just undeniable. And Margot made me giggle so much. Her nerdiness and innocence, her smut reading proclivities, her never-ending need to question everything….& her utter sarcasm and quick witted comments all made this read so fun, and so relatable too. Highly recommend both books of this interconnected world. I can’t get enough from this author!!

Received an ARC of Unfinished Business and pretty much flew through the whole book in a day!
The plot went much deeper than I was expecting, which is fantastic imo because it pulls you right into the world of Margot and Ethan.
The billionaire boss troupe really worked in the context, the characters are entirely relatable, two people learning to trust themselves and each other.
The banter is top tier, and the narrative is almost conversational.
Margot is an empowering FMC, not afraid to be alone but of course wanting to find her forever partner.
Ethan is an ex-playboy learning to identify and communicate his feelings and maturing emotionally, is something I’d love to see more of in other MMC.

Would recommend to any romance reader, and a great intro to modern romances for anyone looking to get into the genre!

Margot is Ethan's assistant.
..."probably packing at least two books plus an e-reader" 😆 You and me both girl!!!
A bathroom specifically for your hookups to freshen up in the morning after....um, no thank you! I have thoughts and they aren't nice ones.
Ethan is being a gentleman...who just disclosed his phone's search history.

Oh my gosh! Zoey Ford did it again! I read the first book in her series and, spoiler, I loved it! This one did not disappoint!

Margot is the quiet, seemingly always steady best friend who silently is in love with her boss. Ethan is the brother who was handed the business after the founder of True North Outfitters, his brother, fell in love and chased other endeavors.

Ethan is the ever single, serial one night stand kind of guy while Margot is into serial monogamy and wants the white picket fence and all of the things that come with it. When she looks to him for help with getting back into the dating scene after her long time relationship ended they discover hidden feelings..you know what happens next!

I love that through each other they find pieces of themselves that they lost in the process!

Great read and would recommend!

I really enjoyed this book! Ethan is this powerful, emotionally closed off business tycoon who’s sworn off love after a brutal breakup, and Margot is his quiet, book loving assistant who’s basically the opposite of him in every way. But somehow, their dynamic just works.

What starts as a professional relationship slowly turns into a genuine friendship, especially after one chaotic night when Margot gets drunk in his office, and from there, everything shifts. Their banter is adorable, their chemistry is undeniable, and watching Ethan try to give Margot dating advice while clearly getting jealous himself? Top tier tension.

The story hits all the best tropes: workplace romance, friends to lovers, a dramatic kiss in front of the ex 🤭, and secrets that threaten to ruin everything. It’s emotional, funny, and full of those little moments that make you root for them so hard.

If you’re into slow burn tension, protective love interests, and relationships that grow from something real, you need to read this. :)

I devoured this book in less than a day. I literally did not want to put it down. And every time life was getting in the way that day, I hurried through whatever task I had to do so I could pick it back up right away.

It is the second book in a series I have not read, but fortunately enough could be read as a standalone. Though I have already added the first book & the author’s other work to my TBR.

If you love a good office romance between the boss & his assistant, good banter between a playboy & a good girl, & dating lessons between friends that turn into lovers, this book is just for you.

This would be the perfect romcom comfort movie.

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to fall in love with an ARC.

I loved this book just as much as I loved the first one! Zoey Ford has a way of writing super engaging books with characters who are super well rounded and easy to fall in love with.

Both Margot and Ethan were dealing with their past and learning to understand themselves. As the story went on I found myself so invested in every crumb I could get about them both.

Even with the amount of time spent at work in this book, it never felt too closed off. Margot and Ethan's love story was a rollercoaster but it was also sweet and endearing.

I really enjoy these books. They are easy reads full of banter, a thorough plot and enjoyable characters. The writing is lovely and easy to follow! I would absolutely read again.

Ethan and Margot’s story differs from other workplace romances because of the growth they show. The banter is top tier!

This book made me laugh out loud. The little antidotes that build the relationship are everything. It has a bit of a slow burn, with the action unfolding in a way that helps the reader understand the characters and what makes them tick. The author does a wonderful job with “show, don’t tell“.

This book had surprising emotional depth! I was not expecting so much growth from the characters and I now feel like I need to go read the first book in the series!
