Laura Shook has written a book that is unsparingly honest, deeply personal, and extraordinarily courageous. Beyond a book simply for those who may be in treatment or recovery from cancer, this is a timeless memoir of how one should live daily with hope, love, good humor, and faith in a compassionate God, and is destined to be an inspirational touchstone for years to come.
Having read Laura’s book (blog) after I was diagnosed with breast cancer I would highly recommend it to anyone! While the book walks you through her journey with cancer it is a book of hope and faith no matter what your own journey challenges are about. Her references to music and commitment to prayer and becoming closer to God during this time are admirable and truly give the reader hope!
I was just diagnosed with cancer in February. I swear when Laura Shook was writing this book in 2009, she was already in my current head with all the thoughts I have. Each day I would be thinking of something and when I went to read before bed, she would be journaling about it. It's strange how God works but that's the beauty of it. I loved the songs she dreamt about as well as each scripture that spoke to her. I cherish this book and look forward to reading it again and again.
It's a great book! I lost a friend to cancer and this book encouraged me to see the inside of that struggle and what it feels like to get that diagnosis.
