1.5/2 - ”I have a constitutional aversion to bullshit.” Stars.
I have read and enjoyed every book so far in the Montana Born Bachelor Auction series. Two have been stellar and two were extremely enjoyable. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for In Bed with the Bachelor.
”I wouldn’t want to bug you.”
To say I have issues with this one would be a slight understatement. Jesse Grey with his ’Chocolate Brown Eyes’ just came across as surly and due to any lack of real development really difficult to like. Michaela Townsend, the politest words that come to mind for her are ’Pompous’ and ’Idiot’.
”You’re a guy I bought in a bar. You don’t have the slightest idea what excites me.”
I’ll be honest and say that the synopsis didn’t really have me jumping for joy with this one, but I am one of those readers that are a little ‘anal’ about following a series in its published order. Personally, I don’t really think the tropes in this book really fit, in relation to the rest of the books, and take into account that all of the characters prior to this have been pretty easy going and amiable enough that you can’t help but like them, it was a bit of a surprise to me that I disliked this couple so intensely.
I think the main thing that really didn’t gel for me though was the total lack of any sort of connection between the two of them for the whole of the book, this isn’t helped by the fact we have a wholly unlikeable fiancé in the mix as well.
”I’m not the massage parlor you’re looking for.”
Also, I struggle in this day and age to warm to a woman who sits back with her ‘blinkers’ firmly in place, and allows her aforementioned douche-bag of a fiancé to basically live off of her earnings, whilst dictating that she should be happy with a commitment-free, open relationship, because he still wants to carry on sleeping around without any form of come-back or as he eloquently puts it the elasticity of relationships even after they are married, and at every point when she is called out on it being total and utter crap, she defends him.
The series as a whole is still well worth your time, I am going to pass In Bed with the Bachelor off as a ‘bump in the road’, and hope that the final book One Night with her Bachelor finishes it all off in the style, and with the enjoyability I have become accustomed to.

In Bed with the Bachelor is the fifth in a six part novella series from Tule Publishing Montana Born Bachelor Auction.
This is Michaela Townsend and Jesse Grey's story.
Michaela wins Jesse at the auction much to his annoyance and the next day he decides to drive them back to Seattle before the big snowstorm arrives but the weather turns bad on the way so they have to stop at a Motel where they have to spend 2 days stuck with each other in one room.
I don't know if it was me but I could not connect with this writer or the story, too much internal thoughts and I could not concentrate their minds went all over the place and I did not like Michaela and Jesse much either.
Only one left in this series to read.

Michaela was engaged to be married and her relatives bought her a bridal shower gift she'd never forget. Her gift - was Jesse Grey, one of the bachelors from the recently concluded Bachelor Auction Bidding in Montana. Jesse was forced to join the bidding by his uncle and was attracted to Michaela but had to keep his distance knowing fully well that she's about to be tied to someone else. Things were about to change when they got snowbound & stranded in hotel halfway to Seattle. A night that would awaken their desires & change their lives forever.
Love love love how everything unfolded in the end. Although I wasn't quite enamored by Michaela Townsend's blabbermouth, Jesse was there to sweeten the deal. He's the perfect man to wake up Michaela from her nightmare of a fiance. I love these two characters. I liked how she finally snagged the most eligible bachelor that she truly deserved, and not the other jerk that had cheated on her many times. Jesse Grey was just the man she needed as well as being stranded and snowbound in this quiet town of Montana.
I liked that Michaela finally saw the light after getting engaged to one of the most abominable man I’ve read about. Jesse is her match and that’s the way it should be. Another winner from Megan Crane! Their love story is beautiful and sizzling, something nice to read at night!
I received this book as an ARC for my honest review from Net Galley.
Somehow I stumbled upon this excellent series about a bunch of sexy Bachelors that are being auctioned off for a great cause. I love the idea of the series although it is about the same town and the same auction the books are written by different Authors. With it being written this way you are getting a fresh look from different points of view but all with the same beautiful result. Great idea, Great series!
This was definitely a good book I loved that Megan Crane did not make Jesse the classic male hero in this novel. Jesse was honest, funny, and a sexy hunk with a damaged heart.
I must admit that Michaela drove me crazy, but yet again Megan did a great job making Michaela completely different from the other females in the series.
Michaela is engaged to be married to a guy that I absolutely hate. When Jesse is wrangled by Lily and his family to be involved in the bachelor auction he is, for lack a better word, unhappy.
Things really heat up when Jesse knows that he wants her, but refuses to be the other guy, leaving Michaela to wonder how open she wants her open engagement to be...
This book is definitely different from the others in the series, it brings a fresh perspective because this couple goes on a sexually frustrating road trip that really puts them to the test and their situation is sooo different from the others. This book is sexy and romantic but also about forgiveness and really letting go of the past; good job Megan Crane.

When I started this I didn't expect to love it. First, because Jesse was really so sure of himself that was off-putting. Second, the interaction between the two main characters was not as appealing as I'd liked..
However, the more I read the more these two become such an interesting pair..
Jesse has been burned by betrayal from the two people he cared about his girlfriend and his father . I felt for the guy. And Michaela is a bit tricky. She's a proud and independent woman but she's a little too proud in a way that she doesn't realize she's compromising her happiness with . So, as much as Jesse annoyed me with this 'holier than thou' attitude arguing with Michaela, I enjoyed him slowly forcing her out of her denial shell and looking out for herself for a change. It was really beautiful.
And then Jesse too had his own moment of redemption forcing him too to resolve his anger with what happened to him.
This was so unexpectedly joyful book that left me with a huge smile on my face with how the two main characters were just so perfect together..

Megan Crane is a hit or miss author for me. Sometimes her characters make me want to defenestrate them. That's the way it was with Michaela and Jesse. She couldn't stop talking about her "open relationship" and how mature it all was. Him, I understood a bit better, but half the time I wanted to smack him.
Bachelor #5 in Marietta's auction, Jesse Grey, nephew of Jason, gets put up for sale quite against his will. Bought by Michaela's family to help her fiance, Jesse isn't exactly overjoyed. But he wants Michaela, a lot.
A snowstorm stops them in their tracks and for a couple days they snipe at each other, want each other, introspect in ways that are painful in their utter absurdity, and nearly have sex.
But, of course, the fiance is ditched within the week and they are good to go. I mean, that's pretty much it. Aside from all the nonsense about the open relationship and the patriarchy and power differentials and...
Jesse Grey is wealthy and gorgeous, but he has a chip on his shoulder the size of Montana. Michaela's family wins him in the bachelor auction. They give Jesse to her as a bridal shower gift. She asks him to help her fiancée who has had a run of bad luck. Jesse and Michaela make an interesting couple. Both are successful in business but they both had painful secrets. When they are stranded by a blizzard, they find it difficult to fight their powerful attraction. The fact that they are together in one room increases the temptation. However, Jesse will not become her lover. He won't poach another man's woman. I understood his reason but I wanted him to stop running and face his past. I didn't understand why Michaela was willing to stay with a man who wanted an 'open' relationship and didn't appreciate her. It was interesting to watch Jesse realize that his issues with his father needed to be resolved and did what needed to be done. Megan Crane writes with heart and emotion. I love that her characters have flaws and problems just as we all do.
It dragged on a lot at times and reading it actually made me tired (which never happens). I didn't hate it, again like the last book there just wasn't a drama or anything to hook me. The majority of the conflict is that she's in an open relationship and I thought her telling her partner it was over would be bigger but it's glossed over - especially the actual confrontation of telling him - and I think that ruined it for me. I also don't know if it was because the last one was much shorter but it made this one feel like it went forever when really it was only like an hour more of reading (at least that's what it felt like)
Received through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I thought this was a sweet romance. Although it had a few steamy scenes, none were terribly graphic and it kept the focus on the development of the relationship between Jesse & Michaela. I'm so glad that Michaela ended up with Jesse because he was so much better for her than Terrence. Overall, a really light read, perfect for the beginning of summer.
This was part of the Montana Millionaires series by Megan Crane. It was also part of the Montana Born Bachelor Auction series. This story features Jesse Grey and Michaela Townsend. Both had ties to Marietta Montana. He was roped into participating in the bachelor auction by his uncle Jason Grey, owner of the town’s saloon. She was at the saloon for an impromptu bridal shower where he family bought Jesse for her. It was a cute story but at times I felt lost in the information Michaela would provide to Jesse when they talked. At times, I felt they weren’t as likable as other characters in the series. I enjoyed reading this book as I began from the first stories in the initial Marietta books.
2.5 STARS **Copy Provided by Netgalley and Tule publishing for an honest review**
Jesse Grey has been entered into the auction by his Uncle. It is Michaela's family that have bought Jesse Grey for her and they do not like the man that she is supposed to marry soon.
Michaela ends up going back home with Jesse to Seattle when a storm comes in and it gets them stranded in the middle of nowhere in Missola.
This book really didn't do it for me and i am sure that i have read a very similar book to this one. This is the worst book of the series so far.
These two were just perfect together, I couldn’t think of a better couple to be stranded, in a snowstorm, with only one bed! These Grey’s have their issues, and Jesse has a good reason. Micheala, I just loved her, so smart, a bit naive, but also having self-confidence. It really was inevitable these two would end up together, and it was refreshing that they both realized it <3
This book is centered around emotions and morals. The events, though not related of three years ago, affected Michaela and Jesse deeply. They both needed to deal with them and place them securely in the past, no longer haunting them. Their morals guided them through their current behavior.
Lovely love story, she was engaged to a loser but couldn't see it he was carrying awhile load of bad karma about his ex and Father that held both back.

I loved every book of this series and have been drawn by all the characters in each book. So I don’t really know what went wrong with this one. I had a hard time getting into the story and relating to the characters. To give the author a credit though, the story had potential but it didn’t really flourish into a fully-developed story.
Jesse Grey made her feel… mushy. Like a really good romance novel, in fact.
Jesse Grey was one of Seattle’s best construction tycoons. When he visited his family in Marietta and ended up in a bachelor auction, Jesse stood in dangerous grounds for desiring the engaged woman whose family purchased him for. In all honesty, there wasn’t really anything wrong with Jesse but I must say that for me, his “heroness” appeared to be just passable compared to the other bachelors. His charm didn’t come easily but I did like his rationality and his romantic, old-fashioned beliefs in relationships.
She tasted like light. She tasted like sex and sugar and he was a goner.
Michaela Townsend’s original visit plans to Marietta didn’t include a hot (although a bit annoyed) and successful bachelor from the town’s charity auction. What made matters worse was the physical attraction she felt and the dirty thoughts his presence brought to her. They were all inappropriate...especially for a woman who was engaged to someone else. It was sooo hard for me to connect to Michaela’s character. She wasn’t an empowered woman, stuck in an “open relationship” with a guy who was obviously manipulating her. It says a lot about her character and it was kind of off. I didn’t understand her reasons but I did love how she managed to decide for herself in the end and chose Jesse (and rationality).
“You’re in deep, Michaela. Better start swimming.”
The book started out slow and quite dragging but the story took a good turn towards the end. However, I felt like the characters (especially the heroine) weren’t given much depth and the chance to grow. Their connection was weak even if the sensual scenes were nice. The writing prose was a bit hard to get on with. It was hard for me to really go deep in the story when at times I stop and feel like the thought or the feelings were suddenly cut off.
I really wanted to love this book. I thought maybe I was just having a bad day and it was affecting my reading mood so I re-read it a couple of days later and the effect was still the same. But hey, it’s probably just me. I liked how the story ended, though, and still finished the book with a smile.
This is another quick, easy read from Marietta mixing cabin fever with a hero who has daddy-issues and heroine who’s been brain-washed by her cheating fiancé. I’ll admit I wasn’t sure that I’d like Michaela at first. She babbles, a lot, in an annoying way as she eyes Jesse like a piece of meat and tries to convince herself yet again that her relationship with her fiancé is perfect.
Actually, her whole relationship with Trevor is a big headache that I was never quite convinced by. They have an open relationship, which naturally he’s the only one to exploit, their forthcoming marriage is described as a change in tax status, and to be honest I’m not sure she even likes the guy. It was quite baffling. It would have been one thing if she really believed in what she was saying, but it’s clear she never does, she just thinks she should because Trevor has told her it’s the mature thing to do. I get that she’s hardworking and all, but that’s no excuse for deny herself everything she wants. It’s not even as though they live together and so she doesn’t want to be alone. It was just confusing to me.
Unlike Jesse, who is straight forward, sexy and spends most of the time battling his principles in a determination not to end up like his father. Wow, what a prize that man is. I’m fully on Jesse’s side about not wanting to let that one go – three years is not long enough to get over that kind of betrayal. He’s surly and grumpy, but I liked how he and Michaela fit so well together – they’re both hardworking, both successful and have no need to interrupt each other’s work time. They also have some scorching chemistry and plenty of subtle flirty moments.
Set essentially over a few days, when Jesse and Michaela are snowbound in a motel room, this has an intimate, cosy feel to it. Yes, the emotions are heightened and rushed, but this is only a novella and I liked how Jesse turns everything Trevor demanded on its head. I might have liked to have actually seen certain confrontations towards the end of the book, rather than have them recapped in conversation, but overall I liked this.
Cute, sensual and easy to read, this is another great addition to the Bachelor Auction series. I’m going to be so sad once the last one is finished, but thankfully there should be plenty more opportunities to keep visiting Marietta.
(I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.)
It took me a little bit of time to actually start to like Michaela. She came off as odd – and not in a charming way. I couldn’t wrap my head around how an obviously smart lady could sound so dumb. Unfortunately, for me, I really do need to connect with the characters in order to enjoy the novel. That’s just my own oddity.
Now, Jesse was a whole other matter. He is definitely an alpha male to reckon with. If a bit surly, still sex walking is how I’d describe him. There’s just something about a man who knows his own worth, not ashamed of exactly who he is but you can tell there are demons there that he’s fighting – not certain who the winner will be.
Anyone with a lick of sense could see what a sleaze Terrance was. Which is probably why it took me so long to connect with Michaela. Yes, I know it’s part of the story hook – but, I’ve known men like that and sleaze is the most polite word I can think of to describe my reaction to her “loyalty” to him.
Once Michaela started to get the blinders off as far as her intended husband went, I started to like her more. Which was probably the intention. I have to admit I really enjoyed her discovery of herself and of exactly the kind of man Terrance was.
While not a huge fan of insta-love, the emotion of “love” wasn’t really at issue until the very ending of the novel. Lust, hell yeah…but only hints of anything deeper. Jesse had his past to deal with and Michaela had her present to deal with – in order for them to find a future together.
I did enjoy In Bed with the Bachelor and would recommend it for anyone who loves the battle of watching two people starting to fall in love in spite of themselves. This one gets a 4 outta 5 on my rating scale. It was a very good read.
*I received an e-ARC of In Bed With The Bachelor from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. That does not change what I think of this novel.*
In Bed With The Bachelor is a unique novella in the Montana Born Bachelor Auction series. Michaela has a fiance, and their relationship is slightly different than most. I got the impression while I was reading that Michaela was saying one thing but feeling another in regards to their relationship, and she didn't seem over the moon happy for an engaged woman. She tries to come across as very matter of fact and open. I had a difficult time connecting with Michaela...I just never felt like I understood her or had a clear picture of what brought her to where she is today.
Michaela feels things she isn't used to feeling when she's around Jesse, even if he is 'surly'. Jesse finds himself feeling things for Michaela that he does not want to feel for a woman, especially a woman who is engaged. He's used to women seeing only his money, and most of all he doesn't want to be like his father. He doesn't want to feel or try again after having one relationship turn out so badly. So he tries to make himself very unapproachable.
The chemistry between them is lurking though and when they find themselves in a situation where they can't ignore it, what then? I liked how they both said what was on their minds, they didn't hide much. However, I never really felt the intense connection a couple has between them besides the chemistry. On the outside they both have such different views on relationships that it was interesting to see where they'd go with this. In the span of this novella, these characters did grow and develop a lot. I also liked the family dynamics that Megan brings in to this story and how it is dealt with.
In Bed With The Bachelor is a very appropriate title you will see when you read this entertaining novella. I like the theme of this series and how they can all be read in any order without giving away anything from the other novellas. In Bed With The Bachelor presents a different view and I'd recommend it to romance readers who enjoy a quick, entertaining read.
The Bachelors Auction Series is a compilation of six sexy billionaires, put on auction for a good cause to help a single mother Molly and her injured son Josh, and it leads them to their happily-ever-after. Written by a potpourri of amazing writers and for the uninitiated, the list below should make it easy finding these billionaires of your reading pleasure!
Bachelor Auction Series Book 1: Bound to the Bachelor Book 2: Bachelor at her Bidding Book 3: The Bachelor's Baby Book 4: What a Bachelor Needs Book 5: In Bed with the Bachelor Book 6: One Night with her Bachelor
Let’s talk Bachelor#5 Jesse Gray, the construction tycoon and the proverbial playboy of Seattle. Roped into the Bachelor Auction, he ends up being bid for Michaela Townsend by her family. He can give amazing dates filled with gourmet dinners and star accommodations but his smiles maybe more expensive than anything else. And Michaela Townsend seems to bother him too much into scowling and feelings that he never wanted to feel.
Michaela maybe rich, independent and engaged, but being stranded with Jesse during a snowstorm brings out feelings that make her question her life and choices. Sparring with each other, trying to keep their hands off each other only makes it even more painful and intense, as the sparks of attraction threaten to consume them. As much as Michaela wants to be “In Bed With The Bachelor”, she’s got some issues that her heart needs to resolve.
Manipulated to be with each other in each other’s company, in a single room, Megan Crane weaves a witty story around Jesse and Michaela. And again love the way these authors have incorporated all these stories in parallel strengths. Another short story, that brings a smile and a sigh to the lips.
By the way you can’t get “In Bed With The Bachelor” until March 20, 2015 ;)
Received an ARC from Tule Publishing via NetGalley for an honest review
Michaela lives and work in Seattle and is having her bridal shower in Marietta with her relatives, and this visit happens to coincide with the Bachelor Auction being held in Marietta for charity. She has been dating Terrence for two years and is now engaged to be married. They both agree to an open relationship which happens to be one sided. Whilst Terrence makes the most of it, Michaela is too busy with her job and doesn't have time for indulgence. She is convinced or tries to convince herself that the way she lives her life is right one, that is until she meets Jesse.
Jesse is a self made millionaire running his business in Seattle and he is one of the participants in the auction, which he is doing begrudgingly. He has been betrayed in the past and has spent the last three years avoiding any emotional involvement with the opposite sex. Michaela's aunt and cousins get together to raise the money to buy Jesse at the auction as a bridal shower gift. There is an instant attraction between them, to the point where Michaela is rendered speechless by Jesse's looks and his presence.
There is a snowstorm which grinds the flights back to Seattle to a halt and Jesse is forced to give Michaela a lift back, against his better judgement. When they become stranded and have to share a hotel room, things turn even more awkward. With Michaela being engaged and Jesse's feelings about betrayal, cheating is out of the question.
Will Michaela be able to revisit her feelings about Terrence, knowing how she feels about Jesse? Will Jesse be able to come to terms with his past and try to commit to a relationship? It's another captivating story in this series, which would appeal to those who like a well written romance with great characters.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The story followed Jesse Grey and Michaela Townsend two people who get roped into the Bachelor Auction by their nosy relatives.
Jesse Grey somehow gets volunteered by his uncle Jason Grey, the surly owner of Grey's Saloon. Jesse totally does not want to be there and even worse he is pissed off at the attraction he feels to the girl that ends up receiving him as a gift.
Michaela Townsend is there as part of an impromptu bachelorette party, her relatives decide to bid on a guy as a gift.
Michaela and Jesse end up stranded in a motel after a blizzard and soon their attraction and their issues come out, threatening what seems like a perfect connection.
I was not a huge fan on this one. The reason's being that Jesse was super hung up on his ex-girlfriend and what she did to him, which granted what a skank. Still, after three years move on; just because she was a skank doesn't mean every woman will be like that.
Next, I swear every time Michaela opened her mouth I wish I could punch her character in the face. Her "fiance" was such a sleaze and her whole rationalizing it. Her way of rationalizing her open relationship, in which only her "fiance", who didn't even give her a ring because it's an archaic form of ownership, gets to use the perks. Like WTF!!! Then, that she actually listens to him tell her about his liaisons, that mean absolutely nothing because they are just something animals do.
The characters did seem to have this connection, but they also spent too much time in their heads and analyzing everything.
I did love that they finally deal with their issues and baggage to come together is a very romantic way.
This romance is the story of Jesse and Michaela. When Jesse is bought by Michaela's family at a Bachelor auction with the intention of helping her fiance's business it's pretty clear that he's to keep his hands to himself. But stranded in a snowstorm on their way back to the big city, all his good intentions will be tested by the sexual attraction that simmers between them. Michaela isn't immune to Jesse either and though she and her fiance have an open relationship (which she knows he takes full advantage of), she's never really thought of experimenting before - until Jesse. Their time together will test them both - will it lead to a happy ending?
I really enjoyed this story! I'm a sucker for sexual tension and this one has it in spades, from the first moment they lay eyes on each other. The ethical dilemma is the wedge between them - Jesse determined to never be the other man, yet Michaela being in an open relationship means that for her it wouldn't be cheating. So you have more than one kind of tension in the room with them, and it leads to decisions big and small on both their parts. They are both really attractive and engaging characters, all the more so for their determination to do the right thing. As they spend time together they both open up their lives to each other, making for bonds that are not easily broken. I found the story to be difficult to put down, wanting to see how things would end up. It was an entertaining read from start to finish. 4 stars, and a great addition to the Bachelor Auction series!
