So, I was bored. Insta love with BDSM isn't a great mix and we didn't get a lot of character development as we have in other books in the series.

This is one series that just keeps getting better. I'm so happy to see that. This book deals with BDSM and more serious than Bram and Ethan, I think. But every relationship is different so it's all in how you look at it. I think the only thing I didn't like, and it's a personal thing, is the instalove. Falling in love after one hour doesn't cut it for me, BUT like I said, it's a personal thing because I'm a cynic lol.
With all the crap going on, Ryder hasn't had time to decompress the way he needs to. Since his old lover, Syn, introduced him to the BDSM lifestyle, Ryder has discovered it helps him center and focus so much better if done right. But he and Syn weren't meant to be and where he is doesn't feel like home. So when Aiden offered Ryder a chance to help Cedar Falls rebuild and grow, Ryder didn't hesitate. But getting to Cedar Falls has been murder, and his first meeting with Tag was awful because of it. Tag wanted to wash his hands of Ryder at first, but when he realized what was really going on underneath with Ryder, when he pulled his head out of his ass and paid attention, he realized what Ryder really needed. He needed his control back and Tag knew just how to do so. He felt so much for Ryder already and the more he got to see Ryder underneath and the more he interacted, the more he knew Ryder was the one. But the mayor is throwing his weight around to keep secrets and getting the town to grow may be stopped before it even starts.
Tag and Ryder could not be more suited for each other. Both have such a need for the BDSM lifestyle, it's what they need for focus and grounding. They both need control and stability in their lives and when they don't get it, they need an extra outlet. Plus they love it. Tag is a good Dom for Ryder. He takes good care of him. He sees a need in Ryder most often before Ryder even knows he needs it. He's harsh when needs to be, but gentle as well. He just perfect for Ryder.
And Ryder is just as perfect for Tag. Tag needs a sub, but a sub that isn't…..a lot of work? He loves that Ryder has his own job amd can take care of himself and such. Not that he doesn't want to take care of Ryder, because he does, but he wants a partner as well. His equal and well as a sub. If that makes sense. And Ryder is his own man. Yes, he needs Tag. He needs what Tag gives him as well, but he's secure in himself.
I really do love how this series is going. It doesn't drop off and get dull. It's still exciting and a hell of a lot of fun. (Jesse is up to usual tricks lol. So funny). I hope you guys love them as much as I do

Tag owns the local garage. He is a former marine looking for a submissive. He wants someone who can take care of himself during the day. But once they are home Tag needs someone who can handle his brand of intense dominance. Tag is looking for someone special to spend his life with.
Ryder is used to be in control during his day-to-day life. Very in control. Except when he is finally able to let go and be free during his BDSM scenes. But it has been a long time since he is able to let go. When he has the nightmare travel day getting to Cedar Falls he is on the edge of losing it.
Their first meeting does not really go well out all, but it was funny as hell. Ryder is snappy and grumpy, and Tag does not know how at first to exactly do deal with it. Until Tag realizes Ryder is the submissive to his Dominate. From that moment things start to get exciting.
These men start out with a bang. The sex was pretty decent but not over the top and to me mild BDSM themed. Their sexual tastes ran perfectly together from the start. Tag seemed to know exactly what Ryder needed without really needing to ask questions. And Ryder just accepted it.
One thing that sort of bothered me is how these two really just jumped into the whole deal, and it was like instant relationship status that first night. It really did move a little fast for me on that front. It sort of made me stop and think. I generally don’t buy into instant love except in the paranormal books. So in the scheme of things, not totally believable, but dealable.
Also there was a mistake that I noticed and kept bugging me. I thought about it each time it was mentioned. In the start of the book it is said that Ryder works for the town of Haley, Wyoming. But in all other mentioned after that it is listed as Oregon. I finally had to stop reading and go back to the beginning to prove to myself I was remembering it right. Not major in the long run, but one of those things that picked and annoyed me until I confirmed.
I did enjoy the interaction between Ryder and Tag, as well as the secondary characters. Jesse is as off the wall as ever with Ethan on the assist, plus all the other townspeople and the shenanigans they get up to.
Even with the issues this book was still enjoyable. It was funny and sexy. Good for a light read.

In order to revitalize Cedar Falls, the casino owner, Syn, agrees to hire an event planner. Ryder Monroe, the planner, is a sub in need of a dom. Tag Kendrick, a dom, wants a boy for himself like his friend Bram. The two meet after Ryder has had a horrible cross country flight. Ryder is rude and Tag is annoyed. By the time Tag realizes that Ryder needs a release of his wound up emotions, Ryder is on the edge of a breakdown.
Balik doesn't overwhelm a reader new to BDSM. There's spanking and a fleeting glance at a playroom. There's an immediate trust between the two and they have a rather sweet dynamic. Good worldbuilding (or actually, continuing worldbuilding). Jesse, Ethan and Zane and their partners add a bit of mayhem.
A quick, fun read. The series continues to draw the reader in.
Balik doesn't overwhelm a reader new to BDSM. There's spanking and a fleeting glance at a playroom. There's an immediate trust between the two and they have a rather sweet dynamic. I think this book was not as good as the others in the series. Ryder comes to town and basically falls in love with tag on sight. What was odd for me was tag literally pucks Ryder up at the airport and immediately becomes his Dom. But they don't know eachother at all and Ryder gives tag his complete trust! Their insta-love was a lithe bit too insta for me. They also never had a "couple crisis" in the book so that really sucked bc if you have no conflict how can you have a real resolution and ending? The whole book is really just about the town fighting mayor Murphy. It's not even about Tag and Ryder...they definitely seemed like an afterthought.
On a side note...I'm tired of Jesse dressing like a clown! I thought this author was a woman but it's got to be a man bc in this book jesse was described as wearing a red blouse, red lipstick, and red eyeshadow. ...no one would ever wear all those things together bc you would look like an idiot! And no one wears red eyeshadow!! jesse is supposed to be a fashionista but his outfits are becoming progressively tackier! It's so confusing. ...
On a side note...I'm tired of Jesse dressing like a clown! The fact that there is very LITTLE repeat in this is like, a major factoring point!
So, while this is super fast relationship building status, beyond that it feels pretty well put together. The bdsm elements aren't extreme, and in this context actually works for me. Tag (vs. Bram) feels more like HE is in charge and is DOM, while not wanting that kind of relationship 24/7. Now that I think about it, that's probably what REALLY makes this work for me. I don't want to read about being controlled ALL the time. In the real world that's just not feasible, and me feeling like a very strongly opinionated female, I wouldn't WANT it to be feasible.
Out of the four books that I've read, I would consider this one to be the best put together.
