***An Amazon TOP 100 Bestseller with over 200,000 copies sold!*** In a world where everyone has a unique, magical power, the only girl without one must find a way to bring her family together. Mira Ipswich couldn't have ever known the startling difference that separates her from the rest of humanity. But when she discovers a strange anomaly in the midst of her seclusion, her parents are forced to reveal she exists in a world where everyone is imbued with a wondrous natural gift. Everyone except herself that is. As this naïve, headstrong girl attempts to understand her inconceivable condition and fit in with peers, she becomes embroiled with the dangerous forces that threaten her homeland.
Sometimes I think writing makes me crazy, but then again I'd probably be even more crazy without it. There are a lot of things I do to balance out though: traveling, distance running, hiking, reading, orange juice, tennis, food fights, walking out of movie theaters telling the people in line that Harry Potter dies, cooking ethnic food, and competitive napping.
What happens when you're born powerless? Your parent have a special power, as do your friends and every single person you know. All you have is intelligence, Fri, love. Powerless? You decide. Mira and her friends set out to free her twin sister who was kidnapped as a baby.
The Powerless Series: Complete 5-Book Set — Jason Letts May 5-16, 2018
I finally, FINALLY! got around to reading this wonderful set. I read the first book Feb. 15, 2015…and finally three-plus years later I’m getting to finish the rest. Unfortunately, the long time lag “forced” me to re-read the first book. O! Woe in me! Cursed and broken!
As is usual for my set reviews, I am reviewing each book separately, and then in this space, I will give an all over recap of the complete series. Hold on tight.
Book 1: The Synthesis — 14 chapters (May 5-7, 2018) Five stars.
Book 2: The Shadowing — 15 chapters(May 9-11, 2018) Three stars.
Book 3: The Stasis — 18 chapters (May 12-13, 2018) Four stars
Book 4: The Submersion — 15 chapters (May 13-14, 2018) Four stars
Book 5: The Carafers — 12 chapters + Epilogue (May 15-16, 2018) Three stars.
Fortunately, I finished this series sooner than I thought. That’s not to say it was bad or disappointing. After the first book in the series, the third and the four book were the next strongest. Book two contained scenes that while added to the story and Mira’s background and growth, were a bit violent (older man abusing younger girl) for YA reading. The fifth and final book had great potential, and I really enjoyed the faced paced action from the middle of the book until nearly the end, but the final outcome felt predictable and ended up as as a package all wrapped up with a nice bow on top.
Still, this book would appeal to most YA paranormal/fantasy readers, as well as older readers too. However, I suggest you read book two cautiously when approaching the violent part. I wish I could say you could skip book two whole book, but there is a lot of background that needs setting up for the next books in the series.
This was one of the most powerful series in a long time
I could not put it down. The full series kept me reading long I to the night. Friendship, heroes, insight and sacrifice, it had everything. I did not want to finish it, that world held my attention more than most. Will look for more work from Jason Letts!
I liked most of it. Unique, strong characters. Parts of the plot made me crazy and I was tempted to stop reading when they'd talk about training for the war going on but let's stop and have our annual competition.
Interesting characters that grow into their potential overcoming adversity on a journey looking for understanding and a realization of what we all can be.
Thoroughly enjoyed this fast-paced, series. Perfect light reading. The only downside was the poor editing, with many spelling and grammatical errors distracting from what was a fascinating storyline with well-developed characters and plot lines.
This book was everything and more. From Herat break to eternal joy. Mira and Aoi were my fav. So much I learned from this book that in ways relate to my life. Jason Letts I will forever remember the way your words spoke and still speak to me. For those who want to know about this book purchase them all and find yourselves among so many. Never ever being alone again. Juliet
The story is an epic with so many twists and turns you won't figure it out ahead of time! Call it Sci-Fi or call it fantasy, you will remember it for a long time.
Well written, good story but for some reason did not hold my interest. I put that on me rather than the author. I had to struggle to find time to finish the book, but could not find fault with the writing.
Enjoyed it until middle of the second or third...and then had to quit. The only redhead in the book series, first introduced at that point, and she's *poisonous*! It has become so tiresome to see that the redhead is always the bully, the slut, the evil character...I just couldn't overcome that.
I trudged through the first four books. All strategy very little romance. The final book finally pulled all the story lines together and kept me reading
Geared toward young adults the plot line is novel and moves along at at good pace. The language can be a bit stiff and awkward especially in the early going but the story overcomes that blemish.
Let me start by saying that I'm one that rarely chooses to quit on a book. Usually if I don't finish, its because time passes and I forgot I was reading it. But this book is so terrible I just couldn't continue. The plot progression is just nonsense. The girl is hidden from the world, but then within 5 pages we're off on an adventure! Character reactions don't make sense. Feelings amd emotions change on a dime in totslly unreasonable ways. No me gusta.
